      "body": "<p><img src=\"//marketingland.com/wp-content/ml-loads/2012/08/new-mistakes-600-wide.png\" /></p>\n<p>When I first start in  my first affiliate marketing, all I wanted was to just make money. Off I ran in every direction, trying everything, with no real idea of the mistakes I was making that could very well affect my chances at long term success.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Through my years of experience with both affiliate marketing and teaching other affiliate marketers, I have come to the conclusion that there are 7 big mistakes new affiliate marketers make.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Let’s talk about these mistakes in more detail.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>7 mistakes new affiliate marketers make</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>1) Selling Rather Than Helping</p>\n<p>Yes, the word “marketing” is part of the phrase affiliate marketing, but for the most part, our job as an affiliate is not to sell — that is the job of the sales page our affiliate links lead the reader to.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>When I first started, my overwhelming (and totally naive) impulse was to fill my pages with words and links that screamed “BUY THIS NOW!”. I didn’t help the reader learn why they should have this product. I only wanted them to click a link which would hopefully lead to a commission for me.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>People want to hear from other people when making a decision to buy a product or not — that’s why the reviews on Amazon products are so powerful. Those reviews are genuine feedback from people who (usually) have absolutely nothing to gain if someone buys that product or not.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>When we talk more like an unbiased reviewer rather than a high-pressure salesperson, we will find we make more sales and people will come back for advice on other products in the future.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>2) Too Many!</p>\n<p>This is another big mistake I made when starting out — joining any and every affiliate program I came across. While I absolutely do believe in cultivating multiple streams of income when working online, there is a point where you have too much to deal with and it becomes unmanageable.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Choose your affiliate programs wisely and don’t overload yourself.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>3) Not Testing</p>\n<p>Whenever I choose to promote a Clickbank offer (for example), I put myself in the shoes of a potential customer and opt in to test the vendors’ follow up sequence.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>I learned this the hard way.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Nothing breaks a reader’s trust more than being led to a promotion that will blow up their inbox. Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer and see what will happen if they follow your advice.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>4) Not Tracking</p>\n<p>This was a BIG mistake I made when I first started out. I began my affiliate marketing career using free-to-make web pages on a site called Squidoo (and I still do this to this day).</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>I am fond of promoting Amazon products on these pages, but would forget to use unique tracking affiliate links on each page.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Why is this a mistake? Very simple — when you make a sale, you want to know WHERE the sale came from. This enables you to know which pages are converting well so you can grow and scale that campaign.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Creating a unique tracking ID for an Amazon link is easy. Simply log in to your Amazon affiliate dashboard, click “Account Settings” at the very top on the right, then click “Manage Tracking IDs”. From there you can make a new tracking ID so you can track which web page/campaign sold what.  You can learn more about using Amazon’s Tracking IDs here.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Yes, making any commission is cool, but knowing where and how you made that commission is what makes you a better marketer. It lets you grow and scale your campaigns — as opposed to working blindly.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>5) Not Comparing</p>\n<p>One of the best converting tactics I use to sell affiliate products online (especially physical products from Amazon) is to compare the “main” product with two other similar products.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>When people are in buying mode for a physical product, they tend to have their options narrowed down to 2 or 3 and need help making the choice that is best for them.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>By comparing the “3 Best Widgets For _______”, I not only help my readers make a choice, but I also have my affiliate links there for THREE products instead on only one.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Over time, when I track that web page, I will be able to see which product is most interesting to readers and move the best converting product to the top of the page for better CTR.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Comparison web pages are not only very popular and helpful for readers, they are also very profitable for you.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>6) Make Money Online Products</p>\n<p>Perhaps you’ve seen this before. You’re in a “learn online marketing” type forum. A person publishes a post complaining that they can’t make a dime online. But in their signature line they have something along the lines of “I Made 50 Million Dollars with This” followed by their affiliate link.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>It happens all the time. Please, don’t be that person.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>If you’re new and you want to promote products in the Make Money Online arena, don’t make false claims that it made you money. In fact, don’t make false claims at all!</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Sure, talk about the benefits of the product/training — maybe even why it sounds awesome to you — but don’t try to trick people. You will ruin your credibility.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>7) “Oh Look! A Butterfly!”</p>\n<p>This is the biggest downfall for any new affiliate marketer. In fact, it can cause really big issues for seasoned affiliate marketers as well.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>It is all too common to be working on one thing when all of a sudden, something “shiny” comes through your inbox or is mentioned in a forum you frequent. Then off you go chasing some new idea to make money online.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Ignore the “butterflies” that are sure to fly by on a constant basis. They will just distract you from your project/campaign at hand. One completed and profitable campaign is worth so much more than 50 almost half-finished campaigns or projects.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Affiliate marketing is a business that requires self-motivation and focus. For many of us, these are learned skills. Once you are aware of the the mistakes that can cause a lack of profits and productivity, you will be better able to grow your business and be profitable long-term.</p>\n<p><br /></p>\n<p>Best of luck!!</p>",

You do not need to go into the details of buying and selling and neither have to set up a website selling a product. You need to show your presence on social media and in search engines. You need to get targeted traffic and buying traffic won’t help you much. Thus, believing this theory to hold valuable information about real world markets, us Bitcoiners often wonder about what will happen to our beloved digital currency if the “big one” comes — a recession so bad that the traditional financial system goes offline for good.\n\nBitcoin supporters tend to view such an event as a devastating blow to society, but a potential opportunity for Bitcoin to prove its salt. As the old fiat currencies collapse, people will flock to Bitcoin as a modern safe haven asset — the 21st century version of gold. Consequently, Bitcoin will see an eruption in purchasing power and global acceptance, quickly becoming the global currency of choice in a post-collapse economy.\n\nThere have already been some smaller-scale demonstrations of this potential. In 2013, the government of Cyprus announced a radical move, in which it would tap into the personal bank deposits of citizens as part of a bail out plan. Cyprus residents flocked to bitcoin as a way to keep the government away from their wealth; the bitcoin price and trading volume soared in response to this demand from Cyprus. Two years later in the Summer of 2015, Bitcoin faced a similar situation when the global economy threatened to take a turn for the worst. Greece faced a debt crisis and a possible exit from the European Union, while the Chinese economy took a nasty fall. The bitcoin price took off when many Chinese citizens — in addition to people speculating about a grexit — rushed to the Bitcoin markets to shore up their wealth.\n\nAnd so many Bitcoiners lie in wait, strongly believing that the next global downturn will be the seminal turning point in Bitcoin’s history.\n\nThese people may be in for a disappointing reality though, because it’s possible that traditional finance’s fall will be anticlimactic, while the rise of bitcoin fails to happen overnight. Although many people think that recessions will get progressively worse until the economy collapses, economic theory suggests multiple ways for recessions to vary in length and intensity. The next recession could be extremely severe, or it could be relatively mild — past recessions do not determine the severity of future downturns. Consequently, Bitcoin’s adoption rate in response to recessions will not necessarily be linear. If a recession is particularly bad, Bitcoin might get a significant bump in use. On the other hand, smaller recessions might not worry people enough to consider using a different currency.o, does this mean that mass Bitcoin adoption is an enthusiast’sstock-exchange-913956_1280? Not exactly. Undoubtedly, traditional finance is not in good shape. It took 6 years for the US unemployment rate to reach the Federal Reserve’s target of 5.5%, and a large chunk of that lowered rate came from people dropping out of the workforce altogether rather than finding jobs. Furthermore, jobs reports have been mixed; some months saw higher than expected growth, while other months have been less than stellar. Outside the US, the rest of the world’s economy is shaky at best. China’s economy has plummeted, with the People’s Bank entering damage control. Greece and Puerto Rico both face potential debt crises, which could rock global markets. Meanwhile, central banking policy seems to be losing its bite; the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at near 0% for almost 10 years, with not much to show in the post-2008 economy. Traditional fiat may very well fall at some point, but it could be a slow burn. Thus, Bitcoin still has plenty of room to become a fiat-killer, just maybe not as soon as some people would prefer.\n\nOf course, we could still have the “big one.” We might experience a depression so severe that the public flocks to a new monetary system en masse — with Bitcoin being a good candidate. But we must understand that doomsday might not come, and Bitcoiners might have to endure a long and bumpy ride.       "body": "<p> When the Internet first boomed in India, many people proceeded with caution -- adoption was fairly slow compared to the U.S. But a few adventurous spirits jumped right in and have stuck with it for the long haul. Among them is Babychen Mathew, who left a career in journalism to start his own website, <a href=\"http://www.dancewithshadows.com/\" rel=\"noopener\">dancewithshadows.com</a>. This site offers readers the latest headline news and feature stories on various topics. Babychen started this site as a hobby, and perhaps as an extension of his profession. Very soon after launching, he discovered Google and the AdSense program through various web development forums on the Internet. And the rest is history, he says.<br />\n</p>\n<p>“After exploring every bit of this Google product, with a few trial and errors along the way, I’ve discovered on my own the best ad formats and colors that suit my webpages,” he reports. Having tried almost every AdSense format and feature as they were offered, he settled for a vertical wide skyscraper (160X600) on the left sidebar and a horizontal link unit (728X15) along the top of his pages.<br />\n</p>\n<p>“Now, with the help of AdSense Support, I am currently using a medium rectangle (300X250) ad format too, and have integrated it into my content in some sections to capitalize on potential video ads,” Babychen continues. “I’ve tried other online ad distribution networks, and formats like flash ads and banner ads, but I was not very satisfied. While some were experiments, others didn’t cater to the Indian market, and a few others were plain irritating.&quot;<br />\n</p>\n<p>Today, Babychen is a happy publisher, with most of his revenue coming from Google AdSense. Subscribers: 64,000+\n\nMain income source: Advertisements, affiliate links?\n\nLet me first say that I love the design of this blog, and it’s a good thing to, as it focuses on design, but not the type you see on the web.\n\nNo, Freshome is an absolutely astounding architecture and interior design blog.\n\nOne of the writers, Ronique Gibson, revealed on Problogger that she has posted over 773 posts (and that was in 2011!), showing how a “curation” style blog, combined with lengthier posts, can create a real winner if it’s on a focused topic (and the content is top notch).\n\n4.) PsyBlog [Social Psychology]\n\n\n\nURL: http://www.spring.org.uk/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 53,000+\n\nMain income source: e-Book sales, advertisements\n\nYou can probably guess that this is one of my personal favorites, but it’s easy to see why any reader can enjoy this blog.\n\nThe author takes psychology studies that they come across (they happen to be a psychological researcher), and relates them to real world issues and in laymen’s terms, so that anyone can gain the information that they have to offer.\n\nThat’s the big emphasis I’d like to make on this blog: you should always be mindful of beginners, it’s not that you have to appeal only to beginners, but taking more complex information and boiling it down into something interesting that anyone can read is a formula for a winner, as long as the audience is there.\n\n5.) NerdFitness [Exercise/Physical Fitness]\n\n\n\nURL: http://nerdfitness.com/blog/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 50,000+\n\nMain income source: Product sales\n\nSteve Kamb is a guy well known in the marketing niche, but he doesn’t write about marketing.\n\nThat’s because his blog has served as a great example of how to build a successful site full of an endearing personality, outside of the blogging/marketing niche of course.\n\nThis is one of the great advantages of being someone knowledgeable in content marketing: you can offer up your success story to all sorts of marketing blogs if you create a popular site in a atypical topic.\n\nMarketing blogs absolutely love case studies of this kind, and you’ll get attention and links just by telling your story. It’s a method Steve has used multiple times to appear on sites like Lifehacker and ThinkTraffic.\n\n6.) 1stWebDesigner [Web Design]\n\n\n\nURL: http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 49,594)\n\nMain income source: Affiliate links, advertisements\n\nThere are a huge number of web design blogs out there, and yet some still find ways to be successful…\n\nSomebody should ask Dainis how he did it, because 1stWebDesigner manages to stay a top web design blog and appears to be growing still.\n\nI can tell you that 1stWebDesigner at least does everything in it’s industry the right way, while setting a few innovations (industry examples being stuff like free PSD files and the like).\n\nThat’s the big takeaway for this site: find out what works for the big players in your niche, pull some ideas that you like, and innovate on the rest.\n\n7.) TinyCartridge [Portable + Retro Gaming]\n\n\n\nURL: http://tinycartridge.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 2,303)\n\nMain income source: Affiliate links, advertisements\n\nTinyCartridge is simply a perfect example of how to start a blog in a the incredibly overcrowded gaming niche.\n\nDid the founder decide to doom their site to an early death by just focusing on “gaming”?\n\nHeck no!\n\nTinyCartridge has become THE place to learn about mobile gaming news and updates, it “niched down” into a way less competitive market, and took it over.\n\nThat’s a HUGE takeaway from this post, one of the most important: dominant a small niche, and move onto broader things down the road.\n\n8.) What I Wore [Personal Style]\n\n\n\nURL: http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/ (No custom domain? For shame!)\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 10,849)\n\nMain income source: Advertisements, affiliate links?\n\nSince I’m not into fashion blogs all that much, what I can tell you most about this site is that the author’s personality dominates.\n\nIt’s a personal fashion blog, so that makes sense, but the general principle here is that her personality is inserted without pause.\n\nEvery post is flooded with the author, and it makes the case that a strong personality (and taste) can make for a great unique selling proposition, even in a crowded niche like this.\n\n9.) Nature Mom’s Blog [Natural Living + Family Life]\n\n\n\nURL: http://naturemoms.com/blog/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 5,000+\n\nMain income source: Advertisements\n\n“Mommy bloggers” is a term I hate, but if you’re taking your content and your site seriously, I can definitely love the work you’re doing.\n\nThat’s the case with this blog, from design to content, Tiffany is delivering the goods.\n\nI like the “two-niche combo” going on here, something to learn from most definitely.\n\nInstead of going the “health” or “mommy blogger” route, the author did both, taking two typical ingredients and making a very unique recipe.\n\n10.) AutoBlog [Automobiles]\n\n\n\nURL: http://www.autoblog.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 1,766) [Likely much higher]\n\nMain income source: Advertisements\n\nWhat guy doesn’t love a sweet looking ride?\n\nAutoblog fills a big need for a big audience of automobile fanatics.\n\nI see so many bloggers who are against “news” sites, and while I’m also in favor of creating ‘evergreen’ content, when you are dominating a specific niche well, your blog is certainly capable of breaking news, even if those posts won’t generate lifetime traffic.\n\n11.) Art Of Manliness [Men’s Lifestyle]\n\n\n\nURL: http://artofmanliness.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 150,000+\n\nMain income source: Affiliate links, advertisements, product sales\n\nA men’s lifestyle blog that as absolutely nailed the concept of a strong and memorable unique selling proposition.\n\nIn addition, this blog is the opposite of the autoblog above it (not in audience, those are similar!).\n\nWhat I mean is, Brett focuses on almost entirely evergreen content, writing very long and in-depth articles that address topics that matter to men, and that won’t be changing anytime soon.\n\nThis kind of content ensures that people can find old articles and still be “wowed” by the information there, and it is a strategy that has paid off very well for Brett, as AoM is now a whole different beast with hundreds of thousands of readers.\n\n12.) StudyHacks [School & Career Success]\n\n\n\nURL: http://calnewport.com/blog/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 26,000+\n\nMain income source: Book sales\n\nI am actually a consistent reader of Cal Newport’s blog (known as StudyHacks), although recently he has moved on to “career hacks” in that he addresses career and job advice over studying in college.\n\nOne thing I love about Cal’s blog is that is isn’t afraid to speak out against the status quo, yet only does so when he has data and a strong argument to present.\n\nHe doesn’t stir up controversy just to do so, yet many of his posts are controversial because he cites evidence that goes against a lot of beliefs that we often hold. (For instance, he doesn’t believe in “Following your passion”, that definitely threw me for a loop!)\n\n13.) FarmVille Freak [FarmVille]\n\n\n\nURL: http://farmvillefreak.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 770) [Focus is on the Facebook page, which sits at 425,000+]\n\nMain income source: Product sales\n\nUgh… it pains me to write about this one, but I’ll try to remain unbiased.\n\nThis is one of those examples about becoming a “hub” for something extremely popular, in this case, FarmVille.\n\nBeing a source of FarmVille news and tips worked out well for this site, as it has for many in the past.\n\nOne word of caution: you have to take into consideration how long certain topics will remain in popularity.\n\nIf FarmVille is forgotten, this site will lose it’s purpose, not so with evergreen content.\n\nStill, blogs that become a big part of a fanbase’s enjoyment for popular topics can live a long time, look at things like Pokemon (the kids game) or Madden NFL (another video game) which have been around for years and show no signs of slowing down.\n\n14.) Cute Overload [Baby Animals & Pets]\n\n\n\nURL: http://cuteoverload.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 462,270) [Woah!]\n\nMain income source: Advertisements\n\nAh, cute animals, overlords of the internet.\n\nCuteOverload, one of the originators of the cute animal blogs, obviously understood the appeal of “tumblogs” far before the trend set in.\n\nThat’s the point I’d like to make here: tumblogs (blogs that focus on short updates and are generally media rich) can be extremely effective if they niche down and dominate a popular topic.\n\nMusic blogs, photoblogs, and video blogs are all of this variety, as their short updates usually come daily and focus on media over lengthy articles.\n\nThey are harder to get initial traffic to (as guest blogging sometimes isn’t as effective), but when they take off, they can become BIG.\n\n15.) Supersonic Electronic [Art & Art Culture]\n\n\n\nURL: http://supersonicelectronic.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 2,582)\n\nMain income source: Product sales\n\nAnother blog I randomly check from time to time, the art featured here can be pretty amazing (Warning: it is sometimes Not Safe For Work).\n\nAs an art blog, this site initially made it’s name with top quality selections and acted as a great promotion method for new artists.\n\nLater, with an established name, people now submit their art in hopes of being featured.\n\nI found this to be the exact case with my electronic music blog, as when I grew in popularity, people messaged ME about getting featured, rather than the other way around.\n\n16.) Stereogum [Indie & Alternative Music]\n\n\n\nURL: http://stereogum.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 57,076)\n\nMain income source: Paid promotion, affiliate links, advertisements\n\nThis one’s a biggie!\n\nThe big breakthrough for this site was being early in the scene, and breaking a lot of big artists first (Arcade Fire and the like).\n\nthis site also knows their audience really well, and manages to always please despite the difficult task of selecting music that their audience will like.\n\n17.) WPBeginner [WordPress Tutorials]\n\n\n\nURL: http://www.wpbeginner.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 210) [Focus on social media pages, which are quite popular]\n\nMain income source: Affiliate links, advertisements, WP services\n\nA pretty popular site for WordPress newbies.\n\nThe big point to be made here is that creating a site for beginners is always a good idea if it’s done well, because there will always be new beginners, so your audience can only grow (as long as your topic stays popular, which WordPress has).\n\n18.) Skepchick [Atheism + Secularism]\n\n\n\nURL: http://skepchick.org/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: 11,000+\n\nMain income source: Advertisements\n\nOne trend I noticed in the WordPress community is that Christianity seems to be a popular topic, and many pastors seem to get involved in blogging and web development.\n\nI don’t really have a comment, just something I noticed.\n\nThis blog takes the opposite approach and is all about atheism, and creates post on atheist news and issues.\n\n19.) DeSmogBlog [Environment & Pollution]\n\n\n\nURL: http://www.desmogblog.com/\n\nApprox. Subscribers: (Google Reader count: 407) [Focus is on the newsletter]\n\nMain income source: Book sales\n\nFeatured on Time’s Best Blogs of 2011, it got a lot of press for stirring up a very heated issue.\n\nGreat way to gain notoriety for a blog: pick a hot topic and stir up some debate, while still maintaining integrity by not being overly aggressive or indigent.\n\n20.) Listverse [Random Top 10 Lists]\n\n\n\nURL: http://listverse.com/\n\nApprox.
