This is the reason some many phobias exist, but most importantly, it is normal to be afraid of failure.\n\nBut in order to overcome our ineptitudes, we need to overcome our fears, first and foremost. Fear serves as a barricade that stands between us and what is in the next level. Overcoming our fears is what courage is about.\n\nHowever, Courage in its honest form, is not the total absence of fear, but the ability to live through it; to face situations no matter how difficult they might seem.\n\nCourage gives us that extra charge to take that first no matter how difficult it might be; that step to the ladder of success. It takes courage to overcome fear of failure and also go the extra to attain the goals we are in pursuit of.\n\nIt takes courage to take up that job, start up that business and absorb the risks involved.\n\nPersistence on the other hand is that extra edge you need to keep pushing. Persistence comes with endurance and determination.\nCourage makes you take that first but you will need persistence to keep you there, otherwise you will give up at the sight of hindrance. \n\nPersistence makes you not give up in the face of adversity.\n\nWhen the journey seems impossible, the human mind in it’s natural form tend to incite fear and make you want to quit. Persistence is that extra adrenaline you need to keep it moving.\n\nA passage in the Christian bible highlighted the importance and reward for persistence; James chapter 1 verse 2 through 4 reads:\n\n\n“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything\"\n\n\nThe bible passage is basically saying that difficult situations beget persistence, be persistent enough because persistence begets success.\n\nFor me the way to achieve my goals and get to the top, is by having it in mind that I most in-counter difficulties on my way to the top. We actually don't like each other. I have to do my normal morning prayers, Follows shortly, is a call from my friend who I had an earlier arrangement to meet. At this  moment, I realize that I have had the sleep of a lazy man, it is already 9am and I need to get to my friend because the distance seems pretty far and Lagos Nigeria is not a city you rely solely on distance, some other unforseen and unprecedented circumstances might as well cause you delay.\n\n\n\nThe initial place which we are supposed to meet is cut short when my friend calls me and requests I stop at a closer and famous junction(Chevron junction). Not very far from this junction is a recreational centre, which is called: LCC, that is the short form of Lekki Conservation Centre. Oh! I'm already having this feeling that today is going to be a gratifying day\n\n\n\nOn approaching the gate, we are instructed by the security man to book a \"visiting ticket\" online. \"Why do I need to book online when I'm here already, in a physical form?\" Well! This is where the unplanned journey begins.\nMy friends have not had anything to eat, but that's not my problem as I managed to \"snuff\" in one or two bites of the snacks I left in my fridge the previous day. \n\nWe approach the receptionist who gives us tickets for nature-walk and persuaded we buy tickets for canopy-walk concurrently as it would be disastrous if we came back for it. We have lived in Lagos for years and this is our first time here. We are seriously bent on seeing some crocodiles but seems like the danger signs are all we have to settle for.\n\nWe cover some kilometres on the wooden bridge, which I'm sure we burned some calories. This suspension bridge looks risky and stressful, it is the longest in Africa.
