      "body": "All predictions about Bitcoin value to date have **always** UNDERESTIMATED reality. Its value will stabilise only in an inter-generational sense - i.e. between today's world population and the future world population. And in relation to alternative crytocurrencies and technologies.\n \nIts equilibrium value equation is on the following lines:\n \nValue BTC = f(global population, global wealth, distrust of central banks and governments, cost of production of BTC, competition from alternative cryptos, risk of quantum computing, risk of regulatory capture) + delta\n \nwhere delta represents variables not included above + random variation/ risk/ herd mentality.\n \nGiven this, it is not unreasonable to expect BTC to reach around a million USD at least within 30 years from now - with a small probability that its value might fall to $0.\n \nA RULE OF THUMB METHODOLOGY\nThere is a maximum supply of 0.0025 BTC per person in this world. Most families store their wealth in their house, with around 20 per cent of a home's value in financial assets. If BTC captures a quarter of this 20 per cent, then its value should stabilise at 0.25x0.2xvalue of a house/ divided by the size of an average family = value of 0.002 BTC\n \nsay, the value of a house is $100000 (this is an upper limit, since global average is lower) and there are five members in a family. Then $1000 = 0.0025 BTC.\n \nTherefore upper bound equilibrium BTC value = $0.5 million USD.\n \nClearly there will be many alternative currencies + risks, so this is the extreme upper bound. Thereafter it will stabilise and grow at the rate of global productivity growth - unless it has been already overtaken by a quantum computing based cryptocurrency.\nTo be conservative, given competition + risk, one should estimate the max value of BTC to be around $100K and invest accordingly. There is also a small but positive probability that BTC's value could drop close to $0 USD.\n\nThe rational expectations theory tells us that the maximum equilibrium value will be achieved fairly quickly, perhaps within the next 5-10 years.\n\nNOTE: Alternative methodologies give BTC's maximum value in the range of $1 million. I don't see that happening easily, since people need to diversify and there will be diversification not only across asset classes but across the 100s of alternative cryptocurrencies.\n\nIt is likely that BTC will grow rapidly to around $50K - even within 2018, and thereafter slow down dramatically for the next five to ten years.",

Such tokens should be subject to valuation on the basis of real potential. Most tokens are also companies and should be valued as ordinary companies.\n\nWhen we do so it is clear that in the ICO market there is a real bubble. Total cap should generally not exceeding around $20 million for most of these early stage companies, but some are being valued over a billion dollars.\n\nGood ICOs may be worth buying when they are issued but in the secondary market there is a lot of irrationality.\n\nMost such tokens will become worthless in the coming years - although a small fraction of them will become even bigger, as they start displacing established companies.\n\nThis is called creative destruction. The crypto technology is definitely going to disrupt finance and data industry, but in the process there will be a lot of tears shed. For instance, that Hinduism believes in <em>ahimsa</em>, non-violence. Not true.\n\nWe are all aware of Buddha's complaints re: animal sacrifice but most of us (like me) have never witnessed any such event. However, the internet has a way of spreading the truth. One person somewhere has to take a picture and upload it, and it spreads. This is now the second time I've come across blood drinking Brahmins.\n\nThe dots now connect. A bit of further research has now made it clear that the animal sacrifice tradition that Buddha spoke against (and the Jains abhhored - but remember that Jainism came first, so its views <em>might </em>have influenced Buddha) are <strong>alive and thriving in the remoter corners of India and the rest of the world</strong> - where Hindus migrated to, hundreds of years ago.\n\nThese customs are almost certainly the residue of an unbroken chain that goes back thousands of years. These are the ACTUAL Vedic customs, also (at least partially) corroborated by the Vedas. No amount of denial can challenge these ACTUAL pictures now widely found on the internet. Undoubtedly this can be overdone (government failure), but let's not forget that there is a strong underlying basis of market demand that underpins the existence of governments.",

That must be decided by representatives of the people. \n\nThe focus of this post is that governments start taxing the super-profits being made in crptocurrencies which should (in an ideal world) lead to lowering of other taxes. \n\nTaxing and regulating cryptos will also boost their legitimacy and uptake, thereby increasing their price and attractiveness as investment.",
