      "body": "Utilize your potential and be yourself at the work place\n\nBy Ruth Nakandi\n\nWhat I have learnt in life is to make myself   useful and important everywhere I go.   This has helped me to utilize my full potential at my work place. Bosses what employees who add value to the company.” Says   Sandra Birungi, a human resource manager at Brejona   engineering company in Busia.\n\n \nShe says that employees or employers should deliver solutions to negative issues which arise in the work place. This will help them realize their potential   and their role in the workplace.\n\n \n“Most employees are short   visioned. When some something comes up at the work place, they fear to sort it thinking they are not worthy to   do it. The fear of failure has consumed their mind yet there is a great potential  with in them.” She adds. \n\n\n\nBirungi also says that employees or employers should accept their failures if they want to utilize their potential in the company or organization. \n\n\n\n“Accept your failures. Failures usually happen at the work place and they are a natural part of life. They are simply a way of showing you what works and what does not. “\n\n\n\nShe advises that employees should not focus on the failures. Failure to achieve a goal at the work place does not mean that you are a failure as a person or you are going to fail in the future.\n\n\n‘’Understanding the people and the systems in the company is very important for an employee who wants to be outstanding and utilize   the talent he or she has.’’ Says Jackie Musiime, Proprietor, Musiime and company advocates in Mbarara.\n\n\nShe adds that understanding the people and the system at your work place will help you to know what to do when, what, where and how. Knowledge and understanding is one of the keys if you what to utilize your potential.\n\n\n\nShe also says that defining yourself at the work place will help you realize who you are. Write down your values, strength and weakness. This will help you strive for greater heights. \n\n\nJackie adds that employees or employers need to notice if there is something they have ever wanted to do or achieve at the work place. \n\n\n‘’ Take good care of yourself, dress well, sit with a good posture regularly.  Realizing yourself and utilizing your potential at the work place starts with loving yourself.” She notices.\n\n\n Jackie also says that employees should accept changes when they come in the company. Instead of complaining or grumbling, be flexible and accept to fit in the changes.\n\n\n“These changes will help you learn new things which will be a key to reach your goals at the work place. Later you will realize that knowledge is power. “She adds. \n\n\nJackie also says that employers or employees should be confident to   try out new things or ideas at the work place. This will help you realize that you can do more than you think because of your potential.\n\n\nShe advises that instead of employees being in the pity party, they should always have a positive glow about the assignments given to them by their bosses. Believe in yourself that you are not a failure at the work place but rather a perfectionist. Always be a positive thinker.\n\n\nENDS.",

Effective accountability and integrity should be encouraged for the success of the organization.\n\n![th.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcatiYMpkrQW314LxRZf1rrKroqUFUjohWUpYA12qszbz/th.jpg)\n \n“Accountability and integrity are some of the most important values individuals can exercise at the work place.” Says Richard Mugisha, managing director of Mugisha fabrications in Mukono.\n\n\n \n‘’Accountability is being answerable for an action  you took at the work place while integrity  describes an individual  who makes a choice  to commit to honesty before she is faced  with choosing between right and wrong.” He explains. \n\n\n \nRichard says that when employees and employers are mutually accountable to each other, employees can trust that their work will be rewarded appropriately.\n\n \n‘’Accountability between two parties at the work place along with leadership integrity can help provide employees with a sense of empowerment and belonging in the company.’’ He adds.\n\n \nRichard also says that accountability allows employees to exercise autonomy with the expectation   that they will feel more invested in the company and therefore will perform better, more efficiently and more creatively.\n\n \n‘’When employees practice accountability and integrity in the workplace, they tend to feel more proud in the place of employment. Because of  accountability and integrity practiced, they are more likely  to work more efficiently, reduce risks and have better loss control at the work place.’’ He explains.\n\n \n Richard adds that   managers acting with integrity   and practicing accountability  are more likely  to project a sense of stability  to employees . This will help managers to build trust in their employees.\n\n \n‘’ Employees with bosses who have integrity are more accountable   to them knowing that their managers will share company information regarding goals.”  He notes.\n \n Richard says that since the leaders of the company serve as a foundation of the company, being accountable and promoting integrity is one of the best ways to lead by example. If the management allows its leaders to act without accountability and integrity, other employees will follow suit. \n\n \n \n Richard adds that leaders will become upset on producing a highly engaged workforce if they do not first achieve a culture of accountability.\n \n \n‘’Accountability is crucial to any human   operation in which work must get done efficiently, effectively and within the budget.” Says Jackie Mirembe, the manager of Joy supermarket and guest house in Mitooma.\n\n \n \nShe adds that consider a work place environment where employees are highly engaged while others are unaccountable for meeting deadlines and performs at a substandard level. This is likely to frustrate those who are loyal to their work.\n\n\n Jackie says that when there is a drop in accountability and integrity, there will also be a drop in productivity, product and service quality, worker retention and employee wellness.\n\n\n“When employees turn in poor work or fail to meet expectations, hold them accountable, educate them on expectations and help them improve. “She notes.\n\n\nJackie adds that it is so important to recognize and reward employees who follow guidelines, act appropriately, meet or exceed expectations.",

      "body": "By Ruth Nakandi\n\n\n“I used to enter office with muddy shoes whenever it was a rainy season. I did not mind cleaning up the mud after all we had cleaners to do the cleaning. I did not know that my manager was not comfortable about it.” Says Jackie Namukisa, a business woman in Kampala.\n\nShe says that she was embarrassed one day when her boss made her to clean up her own mud in the office. One that day, she learnt to take extra cautions whenever it was a rainy season.\n\n‘’The  rainy season  comes  with it an increase in wet footprints, mess collecting in your entry ways  carpets, keeping your office clean  during the rainy season  takes a little extra effort. ‘’ says Mukisa Rita, proprietor of Mukisa studios and boutique in bushenyi.\n\nShe adds that keeping entry ways slip free is very important during the rainy season.\n‘’ keep heavy duty entry way rugs and mats to capture most of the inevitable   water that get tracked in your office. Natural fibre doormats will invite people to dry their shoes before entering the office.”\n\nMukisa says that employers and employees should always disinfect shared spaces in the office.  Always wipe down door handles, tables and chairs to keep bacteria away especially during the rainy season. This will keep you and your employees healthy at the work place amidst the rainy season.\n\nSanyu Kirabo, Manager Shalom restaurant and guest house in Iganga says that employees should sweep and mop their floors more frequently during the rainy season. Regular dusting and mopping will keep your office clean and convenient to stay in the rainy season.\n\nShe also says that since windows get grimy in the rainy season, the need extra attention to remove water pots caused by rainy. This will allow beneficial sunlight into your office. Employers or employees should always shine up those windows in the wet season.\n\n‘’ Dis infecting wipes are very important   for keeping your office clean and fresh as you can encourage your staff members to wipe down their desks. This will help to prevent the spread of illness.’’ She adds.\n\nShe says that in order to avoid infections, The toilets or wash rooms should always  be kept clean since  it is natural  to visit them more in the rainy season.\n\n\nThanks  for your love and time.\n\nENDS.",
