| title | Rather Than Pay A Lot For One, She Makes This particular Fabulous Item To Sit On Her Desk! |
| body | These are quite possibly the most beautiful things I have seen in a very long time. You can capture one in addition to also also preserve This particular for all eternity by following the tutorial I am sharing with you today. These actually sell for $75 so if you get not bad at This particular you could sell some on the side or make them for presents since Christmas is actually right around the corner. They truly are amazing. I realize that will dandelions bloom from the spring, however dandelions aren’t the only option for doing these awesome paperweights. People use fall leaves, jewelry, watch parts, miniature animals, silk flowers in addition to also also many additional things to make these. You can also preserve flowers, by your wedding, in resin, after they are dried. A resin paperweight is actually functional as well as ascetically pleasing. This particular DIY project is actually easy in addition to also also fun. I had some things that will I wanted to keep however needed a cool way to display them…resin paperweights are a perfect solution. They are a great way to make something personal, a great gift idea. You can embed just about anything in resin. Watch how This particular guy with Dandelion Paperweights makes these in his step by step tutorial so you can get busy doing some of these yourself! |

| title | At Facebook, hand-wringing over a fix for fake content |
| body | SAN FRANCISCO — In June, Mark Zuckerberg spoke about “community” using a gathering of influential Facebook users in Chicago. the item was an important moment for the 33-year-old chief executive of the social media company. He was promoting Facebook Groups, a product of which millions of people on Facebook used to talk about shared interests, debate, discuss as well as maybe debate some more. This particular type of activity, he believed, was one of the keys to his sprawling company’s future. The goal of Facebook, he told his audience, which included many Groups leaders, was to “give people the power to build community as well as bring the globe closer together.” Inside Mr. Zuckerberg’s company, however, there was already growing concern among employees of which some of of which content was having the opposite effect. Foremost among the offending material: Posts as well as memes touching on hot-button issues like race, gender as well as sexuality of which were secretly created by Russian organizations with ties to the Kremlin to influence the 2016 presidential election. right now there is usually an ongoing debate among Facebook employees over how to handle This particular so-called organic content, or posts via users of which are not advertisements as well as can be freely shared across Facebook, according to a dozen current as well as former Facebook employees. These people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were prohibited by nondisclosure agreements via talking about the company. On one side are employees who idealize Facebook’s lofty goals of unfettered speech as well as do not think the company should be from the business of censoring what its users have to say. On the some other side are workers who worry of which the company’s hands-off approach has already caused problems — ones of which will grow worse if nothing is usually done. “The algorithms Facebook sets up of which prioritize as well as control what’s shown in its powerful newsfeed are a lot more consequential than the ads,” said Zeynep Tufekci, an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who closely follows social media as well as technology. “The company seems stuck between exercising This particular massive power as the item wishes, although also terrified about the conversation about its power as well as how to handle the item.” Next week, Facebook’s general counsel will be among several tech industry executives anticipated to testify at a series of Congressional hearings about the role the technology industry played in Russian interference of last year’s election. Facebook has acknowledged of which an organization with ties to the Kremlin purchased $100,000 worth of ads related to the election as well as has promised to crack down on such advertising. Since Facebook disclosed the existence of those ads as well as posts with Russian ties last month, the company has attempted to tamp down fears the item abetted interference from the election. the item has also added rules meant to improve disclosures of political advertising in an attempt to show users exactly who is usually behind the ads they saw run through their newsfeeds. as well as on Friday, the company began a test of fresh features designed to give users a better understanding of the people as well as organizations buying advertising on Facebook. of which included providing users using a searchable database of ads being served to them. although misleading ads were often a modest component of the misinformation campaign. Investigators believe the Internet Research Agency, a so-called troll farm of which has been linked to the Kremlin, amassed enormous followings for various Facebook Pages of which masqueraded as destinations for discussion about all sorts of issues, via the Black Lives Matter movement to gun ownership. Aided by Facebook’s finely tuned ad-targeting tools, the Russian firm would certainly pay to place posts from the News Feeds of users. The ad product, called a “promoted post,” was designed to look little different than the rest of the content flowing through the News Feed. Users who responded in a positive manner to the advertisements were prompted to subscribe to related Facebook Pages or Groups run by the Russians. If they did, the item meant of which nonpaid, “organic” posts would certainly begin to appear from the users’ News Feeds. via there they spread, being shared as well as reshared among the user’s network of friends. The tactic was effective. Some of the pages, like “Blacktivists,” which focused on racial issues, had more than 360,000 users who “liked” the page — even more than the main “Black Lives Matter” page. Facebook is usually not the only big internet company wrestling with the issue. although at Mr. Zuckerberg’s company, the issue has been particularly troublesome, given how easy the item is usually to spread messages to tens of millions of Facebook users. Whether something is usually removed via Facebook is usually often dictated by its terms of service, which define standards of behavior on the network. Those standards prohibit posting nudity as well as threats of violence. although misleading users — even outright lying — aren’t necessarily against the rules. as well as of which’s hard to police. So far, Facebook has focused on the issue of authenticity as well as identity on the platform. Facebook removed hundreds of ads last month, not because of the content they contained, although because the Russians running the pages did not disclose their real identities. “We want people to be able to come to Facebook to talk about issues of public interest, as well as we know of which means people will sometimes disagree as well as the issues they discuss will sometimes be controversial,” Monika Bickert, head of product policy as well as counterterrorism at Facebook, said in a statement. “of which’s O.K. although the item’s important to us of which these conversations happen in an authentic way, meaning we have to be speaking as ourselves, with our real identities.” of which line of reasoning may not hold up for long, as Facebook is usually being forced to deal with policy discussions outside the United States. In Myanmar, Facebook is usually caught between the government as well as a persecuted minority group of Muslims, the Rohingya, who face a misinformation campaign on Facebook in posts often via top government leaders. Facebook has said little publicly about the situation although there is usually intensifying pressure to respond. One of the solutions discussed internally at Facebook has been “whitelisting,” in which algorithms would certainly decide which content makers would certainly be allowed to publish or advertise on Facebook, according to two people familiar with the company’s internal deliberations. They have also discussed “blacklisting,” in which the algorithms would certainly decide which content makers could not post. although in closed-door meetings at Facebook’s Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters as well as in Washington, Facebook employees have expressed concern of which such a move could have effects on some other publications as well as content makers of which are not spreading false or divisive news. Others worry of which acting too hastily could establish precedents of which would certainly lead to a situation, for example, where human rights activists using Facebook to coordinate protests in Syria would certainly be forced to identify themselves. They also worry of which any effort to quash certain content from the United States could only aid censors in some other countries. As for a technical solution, some desire artificial intelligence can help Facebook sift fact via fiction. although today’s A.I. technology is usually not advanced enough to do the work on its own. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mr. Zuckerberg’s solution is usually to double down on his community concept. He has said publicly of which strengthening social bonds on Facebook will lead to a positive outcome, despite whatever reservations his employees as well as the general public may have. “Every day, I say to myself, ‘I don’t have much time here on Earth, how can I make the greatest positive impact?’ Some nights I go to bed as well as I’m not sure I made the right choices of which day,” Mr. Zuckerberg said at the June conference. “I can tell you, those doubts don’t go away, no matter who you are. although every day you just get up as well as try to make the globe a little better.” _Follow Mike Isaac on Twitter @MikeIsaac. | title | North Korea behind WannaCry cyber-attack in which crippled NHS |
| body | Yui Mok | PA Images | Getty Images A patient appointment letter coming from a London NHS hospital, next to a virus as well as also spyware warning message on a laptop screen at a home in London, following a major cyber attack on NHS computer systems. North Korea was behind a cyber-attack in which derailed Britain’s state-owned health service’s the idea systems, the U.K. government said Friday. “I think we should perhaps remember in which This specific attack, we believe quite strongly, in which This specific came coming from a foreign state,” U.K. Security Minister Ben Wallace said. Asked which foreign state he believed was involved, Wallace said: “North Korea was the state we believe was involved in This specific worldwide attack on our systems.” Malicious software called “WannaCry” targeted quite a few businesses, government entities as well as also the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) earlier This specific year. A form of “ransomware”, the software blocked access to a user’s computer until a sum of money was paid to the attacker. Asked how sure he was in which North Korea was the actor behind the cyber-attack, Wallace said: “We can be sure as possible. I can’t obviously go into the detail of intelligence, however the idea can be widely believed from the (intelligence) community as well as also across quite a few countries in which North Korea had taken This specific role.” Wallace called on Western nations to develop a “doctrine of deterrent,” similar to nuclear deterrent strategy, to prevent further cyber-attacks. “On a weekly basis, our systems are under attack coming from serious organized criminals using malware coming from abroad or even at home,” he said. |

| title | Self-Harm on the Rise Among Teen Girls |
| body | THURSDAY, Oct. 19, 2017 (HealthDay News) — Teen girls are much more likely to self-harm than boys, along with also the dangerous practice will be on the rise. ## # Latest Mental Health News which’s the conclusion of a completely new British study which also found a strong link between self-harm — practices such as cutting or burning oneself — along with also a higher risk of suicide. Researchers reviewed information through nearly 650 general practices inside United Kingdom. The records had data on almost 9,000 patients aged 10 to 19 who self-harmed between 2001 along with also 2014. The investigators compared those children to more than 170,000 kids who didn’t self-harm, matched for age along with also gender. The rate of self-harm was about three times higher among girls than boys. The rate rose 68 percent among girls ages 13 to 16 through 2011 to 2014. Referrals to mental health services within 12 months of self-harming were 23 percent less likely for children inside poorest areas, even though the rates of self-harm were higher in these areas. The researchers also found which children along with also teens who self-harmed had a nine times increased risk of death through non-natural causes. The risk through suicide along with also alcohol/drug poisoning was especially pronounced. The high self-harm rate among teen girls may be due to common mental health problems in females at This particular age. Biological factors such as puberty along with also onset of sexual activity may also play a role in self-harm, according to lead researcher Cathy Morgan, through the University of Manchester, along with also colleagues. The researchers said there will be some evidence which common mental health disorders are on the rise among teens. This particular may be because they “are living in more stressful times,” Morgan’s team said. The study findings “emphasize the urgent need for integrated care involving families, schools along with also health care provision to enhance safety among these distressed young people inside short term, along with also to help secure their future mental health along with also well-being,” the study authors concluded. The study was published Oct. 18 in _BMJ_. — Robert Preidt |

| title | More Evidence which Depression Shortens Lives |
| body | **By Amy Norton** _HealthDay Reporter_ MONDAY, Oct. 23, 2017 (HealthDay News) — People with depression tend to die earlier than expected — a pattern which has grown stronger among women in recent years, brand new research finds. The study followed thousands of Canadian adults between 1952 as well as 2011. Overall, the item found people with depression had a higher death rate versus those without the mood disorder. The link only emerged among women starting from the 1990s. Yet by the end of the study, depression was affecting men’s as well as women’s longevity equally. The findings do not prove which depression itself shaves years off people’s lives, said lead researcher Stephen Gilman. The study could not account for the effects of physical health conditions, for example. “So one explanation could be which people with depression were more likely to have a chronic condition,” said Gilman, of the U.S. National Institute of Child Health as well as Human Development. although even if which were true, he added, the item could not mean which depression bears no blame — because depression can take a toll on physical health. “Many studies have found which people with depression have higher risks of heart disease as well as stroke, for example,” Gilman said. The findings are based on 3,410 Canadian adults who were followed for up to several decades. The first wave of participants was interviewed in 1952, the next in 1970, as well as the final in 1992. At each wave, roughly 6 percent of adults had depression, based on a standard evaluation. as well as on average, those people had a shorter lifespan. For example, a 25-year-old man who was depressed in 1952 could expect to live another 39 years, on average. which compared to 51 years for a man without depression. Men with depression at any point had a higher risk of dying over the coming years, versus those free of the disorder. The picture was different for women, though. The connection between depression as well as mortality only surfaced from the 1990s. Women with depression at which point was 51 percent more likely to die by 2011, compared with different women. which brought their risk on par with depressed men. The reasons are unclear. “Why could depression be less toxic to women at one-time point than another?” Gilman said. He speculated which societal shifts have some role. Women in recent decades have been much more likely to juggle work as well as home life, or be single mothers, for example. Another possibility, Gilman said, is usually which women tend to suffer more severe depression these days. There was some evidence which the impact of depression lessened over time. Men with depression in 1952 no longer showed a higher death risk after 1968, for example — unless they also had depression at the later interviews, too. As for causes of death, there was no evidence which suicides explained the risks among people with depression. “There were actually few suicides,” Gilman said. “People with depression died of the same causes which different people did — like cardiovascular disease as well as cancer.” Dr. Aaron Pinkhasov is usually chairman of behavioral health at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, N.Y. He said depression can indirectly shorten lifespan in quite a few ways. Depressed people are less able to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as well as are more vulnerable to smoking as well as drinking. They may also be less equipped to manage any physical health conditions. “Once depression sets in, you may not hold the motivation or energy,” said Pinkhasov, who was not involved with the research. Gilman said his study can’t say whether treating depression erases the higher death risk associated with the item. although Pinkhasov said, there is usually evidence which depression treatment can help people better control high blood pressure as well as diabetes, for example. He stressed which there are various effective treatments — by “talk therapy” to medication. “Don’t blame yourself for being ‘weak,’ or tell yourself you should just snap out of the item,” Pinkhasov said. John Hamilton, a counsellor at Mountainside Treatment Center in Canaan, Conn., agreed. He said which women, in particular, can have a “sense of shame” over mental health symptoms in part because they feel they need to be the rock of the family. “They might even have people around them saying, ‘Snap out of the item, you have kids,'” said Hamilton, who also had no role from the study. “Although depression is usually no different by any different chronic disease,” he said. “We need to have a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to the item.” The results were published Oct. 23 from the journal _CMAJ_.
