Math rock/metal really does that to me. It makes me appreciate musicianship and the Avant Garde way of thinking, they seem so alien to me, I'm not wired that way.\nTo the undescening ear I think it would be all to easy just to dismiss this as 'just metal music'\n'The other osmium' is an amalgam of so many styles and sounds that when I try and break it down it makes me think that it shouldn't be working, but it is.\nWhen your greeted by a wall of sound as your opening, its impossible not to have a reaction.\n![Screenshot_20210314_185430.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZMmhCkkjHJHrq5SmiQDd1kpQ4zMa2z2ZoHtmSrVG8Hzw/Screenshot_20210314_185430.jpg)\n\nThere's brutal guitar work that's aggressive like a rip curl wave that's refuses let up. It's just play your instruments and speak your truth. Now everything I have said could be a brilliant pretense by IN Peril and they have worked tirelessly to recreate that raw punk sound but I hope not.\nThe vocal isn't perfect, which I really like, it stands out in a crowd and has an undertones'y /buzzcocks quality.\n\nSome old fashioned punk like the cool kids used to listen too ? There's truth and honesty, like all good folk songs. It's nostalgic and melancholic, exactly how I feel about my forgotten childhood. Well the short answer is we only knew about these guys in January of this year. Their bio is somewhere between playfully obsurd or stone cold truth. I haven't decided yet whether they were on a polar expedition and part of a crew that introduced a breeding program for Bowhead Whales and that these experiences spawned inspiration for these songs? (Seems legit, right?) All I know is, they are some solid indie tunes.\n\nFrom the very opening, the guitar sound on Appolonian heart has a neon charged vibe that grabbed my attention. Lead vocalist Marc Silas has a great shoegaze voice that's got a early 80's tone that's been rubbed with the preceeding decades that have past, that make it current and retro all at once. They have this old, worn-in sound that seems to have a history.\nThis whole composition is about movement and pulses. \nThe piano notes hook you in but there's a ticking clock beat that overwhelmed me with anxiety (in a good way). This is the start of a truly cinematic build, it's Hans Zimmeresque.\n\nThe mixture of the orchestral and digital sounds are complimentary never diminishing to either side, working flawlessly in unison.\nThe musicianship throughout is classy and never workman like. There's a lovely crisp sound to the overdrive on the guitars and the snare of the drums rings out like a rifle shot.\nBut enough of this waffle, above all else it's just a fun upbeat song that's lively and energetic. They gave me a feeling of warm security.\n\nThe whole song makes me feel like your watching a day unfold at sunrise as the slow mélee of the day begins over the rooftops of a city.\n\nIt's truly calming, mediative and very well executed. It's a beautiful understated frenetic tempo that gets its hooks into you, like a pulse felt in your hand.\n\nAndrew French's delivery is intoxicatingly thought provoking. This is her third release this year after  'memories of you' and 'I'm good' in September.\n\nThis is a sweet and bright song just like the chorus states.  It's warm and calm. Mia has a certain contemporary indie feel to her voice but it's mellower and inviting which fits the tone of the song. The drums have had all the edges shaved off so the skins sound loose and the guitars are all mid and have a family fireside sing along strum sound to them.\nOne of my favourite parts of the song is the stripped down refrain where Mia's voice is delicate and warm (I've used 'warm' alot in this review but I think that's what I felt while listening to it)\n\nThe opening notes, which for me, evoke a classic black and white Christmas film motif, like your watching it on a t.v you have to tune. There's no easing you in. It's a thrill ride  through catastrophic mountains of aggressive lyrics and noise!\n\nFerocious and burning with an anger of injustice and frontman 'Koizenous' ( not his real name) makes you feel that coiled call to arms in the middle of your chest with ever spat syllable.\nThrough him you become the 'bottle rocket' or 'the angry words'\n\nThere's more than a hint of early Slipknot in some of the riffs and how it's pieced together. \nAlthough you get all the influences and you can shout bands at them like 'rage against the machine' 'prodigy' and 'nwa' there is no denying the thick vein of punk and the punk attitude that runs through them.\n\nI love the feel of the guitars, the way they feel muffled and raw, almost live sounding.\nThe samples and beat have a dirty feel, like they've been passed through a muddy puddle before being processed. \n\nThere's been so much to be angry and upset about this year (I mean alot!!) Whether that's because it's called \"snowflakes\" and it's already embedded that it's about Xmas is a debate for a psychologist not a music reviewer.\n\n![Screenshot_20201214_230008_com.android.chrome~2.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmUa9w8SN2EMtFUQA71dcotnpYtuCQ6SwtZUXyc2YA1Uhx/Screenshot_20201214_230008_com.android.chrome~2.jpg)\n \nThe first thing you react to is that it's quite a dismal out look lyrically, disguised as a fun upbeat tune. I love those sort of songs. They catch you of guard. It feels like waking up on Christmas morning expecting snow and getting rain.\nThere's a brilliant earthy feel to the whole thing and that matches up to the great video with its scenic shots and lingering images of livestock.\nI love that the Christmas elements of the song, musically, come  half way in the song,\nthe lovely twinkling of a glockenspiel, it's gives the whole thing a sucker punch of hope, a sort of pound land Christmas decoration vibe; it's glittering but ultimately sad.\nThe main lyrical motif of the song is lovely and brilliantly ambiguous \"no two snowflakes look the same, but these two look like rain\"\nThis lyric could be adapted to some many situations in our ever changing lives. \nWhen you don't notice something when you listen it's mainly because it's doing it's job very well and that's the bass and drums, solid throughout, as provided by Steven little and Graham Bodenham respectively.\nThe guitar work is simply complex all mixed with Leonoras melancholic optimistic vocal.\n\n\n\nIt's pieced together so nicely and there's almost a folk club feel to it. It feels like waking up on Christmas morning expecting snow and getting rain.\nThere's a brilliant earthy feel to the whole thing and that matches up to the great video with its scenic shots and lingering images of livestock.\nI love that the Christmas elements of the song, musically, come  half way in the song,\nthe lovely twinkling of a glockenspiel, it's gives the whole thing a sucker punch of hope, a sort of pound land Christmas decoration vibe; it's glittering but ultimately sad.\nThe main lyrical motif of the song is lovely and brilliantly ambiguous \"no two snowflakes look the same, but these two look like rain\"\nThis lyric could be adapted to some many situations in our ever changing lives. \nWhen you don't notice something when you listen it's mainly because it's doing it's job very well and that's the bass and drums, solid throughout, as provided by Steven little and Graham Bodenham respectively.\nThe guitar work is simply complex all mixed with Leonoras melancholic optimistic vocal.\n\n\n\nIt's pieced together so nicely and there's almost a folk club feel to it. This is her third release this year after  'memories of you' and 'I'm good' in September.\n\nThis is a sweet and bright song just like the chorus states.  It's warm and calm. Mia has a certain contemporary indie feel to her voice but it's mellower and inviting which fits the tone of the song. She sings the song as if it's a very fond memory, and one she's happy to revisit. \n\n![Screenshot_20201211_235357.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZ27RcqW27yobv5wpGoS2ViXG4HR3cf4LknQoUWWCvuzP/Screenshot_20201211_235357.jpg)\n\n\nThis is not a out and out obvious song about Christmas but the lyrics are constructed well and the production has a fuzzy fairy light glow to it. The drums have had all the edges shaved off so the skins sound loose and the guitars are all mid and have a family fireside sing along strum sound to them.\nOne of my favourite parts of the song is the stripped down refrain where Mia's voice is delicate and warm (I've used 'warm' alot in this review but I think that's what I felt while listening to it)\n\nThe opening notes, which for me, evoke a classic black and white Christmas film motif, like your watching it on a t.v you have to tune. It's a beautiful understated frenetic tempo that gets its hooks into you, likeca pulse felt in your hand.\n\nAndrew French's delivery is intoxicatingly thought provoking. They gave me a feeling of warm security.\n\nThe whole song makes me feel like your watching a day unfold at sunrise as the slow mélee of the day begins over the rooftops of a city.\n\nIt's truly calming, mediative and very well executed. The lo-fi intro sounds like they played a first generation Casio tone through some jet black paint that then flows to a bass sound that is all at once loose and tight. The vocal has a polished 80's indie feel that is sung with all the cynicism that the intervening 30 odd years have  pulled with them.
