| body | The April rally for many has appear to have fizzled. Perhaps. But only in the short term. Fast drops to around 4300-4600 should sustain a level around 5000 for at least the weekend. This will settle in June to a 'wacky' trading range summer from 5000 to 7000. Shown below. Upper fib lines based on 8,500 top from late July 2018. |

| body | As stock market volatility increases, bitcoin takes a very predictable backseat with modest drops and gains. January 2019's 10-12% drop during the first few weeks had most 'larger' investors clamoring to exercise extreme caution and hold traditional stocks. This is obviously advice that would serve traders who excel at high frequency/volume trading. My personal price targets are **$3,444 for buying and $3,629 for selling** to be adjusted after various economic reports are issued over the next two weeks. This chart illustrates holding a range well above many analysts targets of the previous low of 3,200 , but the 13th's steady increase leaves little for a bullish outbreak nor a bearish drop of greater than 4 to 6%. For trading strategy, it may be difficult for many to determine a legitimate rally versus a continuation so its definitely a ***'big boys'*** market until the end of the month. **I have found taking 'all in' positions 2 or 4 times a day and relieving them after profit (4-8 hours) is the most sane approach.** The same could be compounded into altcoin markets where the trend is inversely relational to bitcoin to secure an extra 2-4% along with profits from BTC. Care must be taken to properly hold onto bitcoin as a result of altcoin sales before selling bitcoin to fiat. |

Care must be taken to properly hold onto bitcoin as a result of altcoin sales before selling bitcoin to fiat.",

| body | Based on the rather unimpressive declines usually under 7%, it is clear to me that a temporary, and slow climb to at or over **$9,000** is in approaching before a rather sharp decline to my previous target of **$5,200**. While sentiment is rather bearish, that is when the largest actors benefit most for short term price action. The flooding in China, which (supposedly) 'destroyed' mining equipment seems somewhat unsubstantiated; pictures are easily falsely produced... and I would expect mining difficulty to decrease, and remain less-difficult but it has not. I find it rather peculiar how the machines are arranged to be photographed, its source is of questionable nature, and I question the fact of its low resolution, plus I find it odd that mining operations would let it be known various details of their setup, unless to misdirect. It is likely a ruse to trick people into hoarding gear to assist Nvidia in clearing out inventory for a product that will be unlikely to launch this year; which may make one wonder who stands to gain the most from an unexpected bitcoin jump and have the ability to make such an increase happen in a short timeframe. |

| body | # Bronze versus Platinum PSU's for Gaming / Cryptocurrency Mining >The most expensive motherboard I've ever owned. ## Introduction I purchased a kill-a-watt and, with the market being down, decided it was a good time to optimize my mining rigs by first starting with my 'home' computer to balance performance with power use. **For each test I loaded the PSU with 40 to 50% of its max powerload paying close attention to the power curve on the box with 115 VAT power.** * Document differences between configurations of case/caseless setups. * Compare savings of a Platinum PSU versus an underloaded bronze PSU. * Decide wether or not to use a Platinum PSU for a home 'gaming' rig that uses the fastest GPU for gaming and a secondary PSU for mining; and both when not being actively used. ### The Computer |Motherboard | CPU | RAM | OS | |--------|------|-----------|-----------| |MSI 370 Gaming Carbon Pro|i5 8600k (8th gen) | Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2133 MT/s | Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bit | >**YES, I GAME ON UBUNTU.** ### The Cards |Card Abbreviation | Name | VRAM | |------------------|------|------| |1080FE | GTX 1080 Founders Edition| 8gb| |1060SSC| EVGA 1070 SSC |6gb| |1070GX | MSI 1070 Gaming X |8gb| |1070XLR| PNY 1070 XLR8 |8gb| ## Open Air Control Comparison | cards | Power | Idle/Load | equihash | lyra2v2 | neoscrypt | Day | Month | |:-----------------------|------------------:|-------------:|-------------------------:|-------------------:|---------------:|------------|---------| | |**860 PSU** | | | | | | | | 1080FE <br> 1070GX | 125w <br> 115w | 38 <br> *280* | **482** 76° <br> **433** 60° | **43.87** 78° <br> **35.83** 60° | **919** 77° <br> **775** 60° | $1.34 | $40 | | |**650 PSU** | | | | | | | | 1080FE <br> 1070GX | 125w <br> 115w | 43 <br> *290* | | | | $1.39 | $41.70 | >Grouped by computer configuration. kWH charge is $0.20, 30 days per month. Temperature in degrees. Cost in USD. >**Hashrates in bold**, *load power draw in italics*. **This clearly shows a $1.70 savings per month.** The power savings at idle is ~5 watts, and 10 watts under load. But the results are a little inconclusive, but were created to reduce over-all power cost and not maximize hashrate. Ideally I should have used a 860 bronze PSU for better comparison... but for my purpose this is sufficent; as the power curve on the platinum psu offers a wider range of efficenecy below 50% than the bronze psu. ## Conclusion Platinum PSU's offer little power-savings over an appropriately loaded bronze psu. They seem to offer the most savings/usefulness if you operate them at more than 70% load. You can achieve near-platinum PSU performance by operating a bronze PSU at ~42-48% load. Since I do not require even half of what the 860 watt PSU can output for home computing I have decided to use it in a mining rig with more than 3 GPU's. ## Next Step For this study to be complete I would like to compare operating the maximum number of graphics cards the motherboard can accept, 3 or 4 if using a riser, in addition to using a PCI-X extender card (which adds 3 additional slots), putting the maximum number of cards at 7, or 9 if no cards are plugged into the motherboard and the system is using only pci-x risers. ## Other Details Here are some other numbers from other configurations I ran: ## Grouped by PSU/case. | cards | Power | Idle/Load | equihash | lyra2v2 | neoscrypt | Day | Month | |:-----------------------|------------------:|-------------:|-------------------------:|-------------------:|---------------:|------------|---------| | **In Phanteks <br> Eclipse Case** | **860 PSU** | | | | | | | 1080FE <br> 1060SSC <br> 1080FE* | 135w <br> 110w <br> 155w | 38.3 <br> *448* | **485** 82° <br> **310** 70° <br> **499** 81° | | | $2.15 | $64 | | 1080FE <br> 1060SSC <br> 1080FE* | 115w <br> 90w <br> 125w | 39 <br> *375* | **464** 79° <br> **295** 65° <br> **486** 73° | | | $1.80 | $54 | | 1080FE <br> 1080FE | 135w <br> 155w | 35 <br> *332* | **485** 83° <br> **499** 82° | | | $1.59 | $47.70 | | 1080FE <br> 1080FE | 135w <br> 115w | 36 <br> *287* | **484** 83° <br> **475** 72° | **44** 84° <br> **43** 74° | **932** 82° <br> **882** 72° | $1.38 | $41.40 | | 1080FE <br> 1080FE | 115w <br> 115w | 34 <br> *270* | **468** 77° <br> **477** 72° | | | $1.30 | $39 | | **Open Air** | **650 PSU** | | | | | | | | 1080FE <br> 1060SSC | 125w <br> 90w | 37 <br> *261* | **481** 77° <br> **294** 64° | **44** <br> **24.32** | | $1.25 | $37.50 | | 1080FE | 125w | 33 <br> *162* | **481** 75° | **44** 77° | 920 74° | $0.78 | $23.40 | | 1080FE <br> 1070XLR | 125w <br> 115w | 39 <br> *290* | **480** 79° <br> **425** 66° | **44** 82° <br> **35.25** 67° | **918** 81° <br> **825** 68° | $1.39 | $41.70 | | 1080FE <br> 1070XLR | 115w <br> 105w | 39 <br> *268* | **467** 77° <br> **414** 66° | **42.34** 80° <br> **34.43** 66° | **864** 78° <br> **780** 66° | $1.29 | $38.70 | '*' - powered by PCI-X Riser. >The MSI 1070 Gaming X performs better at equihash and worse at neoscrypt versus the PNY 1070 XLR; but the PNY 1070 runs slightly warmer. | body | # An introduction to argocoin, a potential safe-haven during the bitcoin correction. ## Hands down best LOGO ## This chart is looking better.... and seems to be inversely related to bitcoin (6 hour) # Brief History Introduced earlier this year, was listed on coinexchange.io in February when it saw a quick pump and dump. Since then it has been hobbling around 300 to 100 satoshi, from over 4000. # When I got in I started mining it when I was reading various people mentioning an uptick in skein rentals on hash flare/ simple miner for GTX 1080’s. I have a few of these cards and decided to give it a shot. I had previously been mining UIS but was underwhelmed by my earnings. At the time I was able to cash out at around 1200-1000 satoshi’s… which was very helpful during the down turn. # Bad rap? A lot of people are complaining on the public channels about the lack of development of the coin. However, after some research I did find that they do have a presence that is suitable for a coin that is less than 6 months old; they have a GitHub presence and code. They do not have a white paper. Their wallets work and are fast! Can’t say that about much more popular coins. They have a roadmap and generally seem to be adhering to it. They could be a little more involved in various communities and offer a bit more information in their press-releases (if you want to call them that) # CoinExchange Getting Better? I hope so. I have had a few problems with this exchange, but lately they have seemed to resolve themselves. Their minimum trade order (20,000 satoshi’s) makes it easy for small miners to realize some profits. CoinExchange does not have a trading API (my major gripe), but this also means price action is rather predictable and undisturbed by bots. # Price Drop Along with many crypto markets this one dropped from 1200 to 480, and today at around 100-200. This is when I stopped selling mine and now I am holding them. Occasionally I mine to pad losses. # Why I’m bullish I like the underlying skein algo, the privacy features, and the implementation of the 0x protocol. The speed of skein is acceptable and both GPU and CPU mineable. There is a [ccminer fork](https://github.com/alexis78/ccminer) that has exceptional skein also performance as well. Transfers are cheap, there are a few mining pools to chose from that feel to me aren’t quite as scammy as the rest. They also have somewhat predictable price swings. |

| body | I must respectfully disagree with your main presumption here. Kraken's refusal to comply with the New York Attorney General's request for information by no means stands out as a bearish signal. I would actually question the existing correlation between these two events without further explanation. First of all, Kraken is not directly subject to the New York rules as it is incorporated in San-Francisco. Furthermore, the presumption could be viewed as being equally unqualified, if the scenario was the opposite. An example being: because Coinbase and the Winklevoss twins' Gemini Trust complied with the request and co-operated with the AG's office, that is a bullish signal that the markets will rise and the markets will see continual strong performances. Please refer to this Cnbc article for more details on the points I made in passing. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/19/kraken-cryptocurrency-exchange-says-it-will-not-comply-with-new-york-inquiry.html I welcome any further comments, opinions, or disagreements, and will try to respond to any replies when I can. |

| body | After a quick review of the questions, I've determined they are not unreasonable, nor would it take most exchanges a great deal of effort to comply; Kraken is obviously attempting to hide their activities (they have also recently stopped operations in Japan); and the questions (if answered truthfully, or untruthfully) would implicate them in the future. Yes the market will decide, and that decision may be a large sell off of Kraken assets. |

| body | Kraken's refusal to comply with NY's basic [questionnaire](https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/virtual_markets_integrity_initiative_questionnaire.pdf) is definitely a bearish signal that suggests a larger 'institutional' sell off is slated before the end of the week. Hopefully you enjoyed that nice exit pump, as the major players will be short-selling while they can. |
