      "body": "![gaming.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSymGg5ncv5mA75h4P5iQsqW86iFmaZQDVZS2j6nAZGAQ/gaming.png)\n\n\n![Image1.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTDyDe9uTQutvNQvQZ3AsFZAQamEY1VXiena1nsAU4d9a/Image1.png)\n\n...unless you like waiting six years between Zelda games...\n\nLast year, Nintendo released the Switch to much fanfare.\n\n![Image2.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTCW6k6DpFQth5fdfSXLFN2Toqe3GcUJZzfAJG5YDSVQM/Image2.jpg)\n\nAnd while I don’t own one, I’ve played it quite a few times and it’s pretty cool, I’ve never been a big handheld guy (not to offend anyone but I think handhelds are kind of dorky), but playing at home is smooth and efficient.\n\nThe console has been doing very well in the market, with almost 20 million units shipped as of the end of June(1).\n\nYou’d think Nintendo would have to be insane to consider this move after one of their best years ever, but several underlying factors reveal that the Switch isn’t quite running away with the title in the current generation of the console wars, and this article seeks to explore why becoming strictly a software developer might be the most prudent move for the future of Nintendo.\n\n\nEnter the PlayStation 4, which currently outsells the Xbox One by a 2:1 ratio, and holds a 71% stake in the home console market(2).\n\n![Image3s.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmctbKe6NDfZNe7DovMzL9VGPs6ouavnHPZSaREJ4D5Qt9/Image3s.jpg)\n\nEven with the Switch being the shiny new toy, the PlayStation 4 still outsold it in nine of the eleven months between March 2017 and February 2018.\n\nMicrosoft looks to be done if things keep up the way they have, as the article states they only sold five million consoles in calendar 2017 (the PlayStation 4 sold almost twenty million units last year).\n\nIt doesn’t matter how rich you are, you don’t stay rich by throwing your money away, and Steve Ballmer, Bill Gates and the rest of the Microsoft board knows this. \n\nThe Nintendo faithful, among which I’ll consider myself, will say ‘the strength of Nintendo has always been in its games and first party properties, not in the raw power of the console!’\n\nThe strength of its ‘first party properties’ and games. \n\nLet’s take a look at the IGN games of the year (because they go back the longest)(3). \n\n2017 Game of the Year: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild\n\n![Image4.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPeYDx3XX3ZDYgM5XTmW8PjrJ12bnBiuBK3acz84f2ujh/Image4.jpg)\n\nI will give them this one, because Breath of the Wild was awesome, and Nintendo couldn’t keep remaking Ocarina of Time every few years, be it in actual physical or digital re-releases (I believe we’re at 4 now), or every console Zelda game between 1999 and 2017 being ‘Ocarina of Time, but with better graphics’. \n\nHorizon: Zero Dawn was a high runner-up. \n\nHorizon: Zero Dawn is a PlayStation 4 exclusive. It’s also an awesome game in its own right, but I concur with IGN that the right game won. \n\nIn 2016 Overwatch won, and it is not available on a Nintendo console.\n\nIn 2015 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won, and it is not available on a Nintendo console, and I’ll state that as this is an opinion piece, I’m of the opinion that it’s the best game of the decade so far. \n\nIn 2014 Dragon Age: Inquisition won and it is not available on a Nintendo console.\n\nIn 2013 The Last of Us won, it is a PlayStation exclusive.\n\nIn 2012 Journey won, it is a PlayStation exclusive.\n\nTo spare you the tedium of listing them off, Nintendo last won IGN’s Game of the Year in 2007, with Super Mario Galaxy 2.\n\nSony exclusives have won the award four times since their inception in 2001. The odds-on favorite for Game of the Year 2018 is another PS4 exclusive, the stellar re-imagining of God of War. \n\nNow im not saying that Sony games are better or Nintendo games are bad (Galaxy 2 and Breath of the Wild are both top-20 games I’ve ever played), but I don’t see how Nintendo can maintain their increasingly small market share when they release two game changing AAA titles within the same 18 month period every six or seven years.\n\nJust look at the impressive list of PlayStation 4 exclusives available now:\n\nGod of War\nHorizon: Zero Dawn\nUncharted 4: A Thief’s End\nPersona 5\nShadow of the Colossus\nNioh\nBloodborne\n\nAnd it doesn’t look to be slowing down, given the PlayStation 4 has a healthy indie development scene and the whale of The Last of Us 2 is just off the bow expected to breach within one year.\n\nMeanwhile, you have to go back over twenty years to find a Nintendo console where the best game available isn’t an in-house developed offering, and even that’s debatable considering that plenty of people preferred A Link to the Past and Super Mario World to Final Fantasy III, Donkey Kong Country, and Chrono Trigger. \n\nSo if it’s not the games themselves, we need to look at the numbers.\n\nAs of 2017, Nintendo wasn’t making a profit off of each Switch sold(4), but given that the company had a 9 billion dollar profit in 2017, surely they must have found a way to decrease manufacturing costs (5).\n\nGranted the PlayStation 4 isn’t doing much better (in 2013 Sony only made $18 profit off each unit sold), but one of the golden rules of the consoles is that you can expect to operate at a loss for at least the first two years. I highly doubt the profit margins on the PlayStation 4 are that slim anymore. \n\nSoftware sales are also a large driver of revenue. The Switch has nearly twenty million units sold and about 87 million titles sold (about 4.4 per owner)(6).\n\nThe PlayStation 4 has sold at least 645 million units of software, good for about 9.2 per owner(7). \n\n4.4 titles per user, not considering digital sales which it was hard to get the numbers for, is respectable. 9.2 per user is insane (I currently own eight titles and I believe RedBeard has seven).\n\n![Image 5t.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmaGQduPdK9u47Jm6rGr7wCrL8uFzip5L8PiyjKhExckVf/Image%205t.jpg)\n\nWe can chalk this up to the PlayStation 4 being older, having launched in 2013 and thus having had more time to build up its library, but given typical console life cycles (7-8 years), and that there’s no Zelda or Metroid around the corner to drive up enthusiasm while the PlayStation 4 keeps pumping out AAA titles, AND the PlayStation 4 still outsells the Switch(8), this is quite the hill Nintendo needs to climb.\n\nThe idea that Nintendo can offer better exclusives is largely a myth, as shown by critical appraisal and software sales. Their profit margins on each unit sold are hardly better, if at all, but that can be partly chalked up to it being in a different stage of its life cycle. \n\n‘But Nintendo owns the handheld market!’\n\nWhile true that the Nintendo 3DS mopped the floor with Sony and the Vita (70+ million to about 16 million units shipped respectively, ouch)(9), handheld gaming itself is a dying market, because smartphone gaming is set to account for FIFTY PERCENT(!!!) of the global gaming market by 2018(10).\n\nIn China I see the odd laowai with a Switch or a 3DS...but almost every Chinese person or foreigner I see is face down in their smartphone (the Chinese much more so than the foreigners). \n\nAn increasing amount of classic titles being available on Google Play and the App Store will also bring in the older gamers itching for nostalgia. \n\nWhy pay $129.99 for a 3DS and $49.99 per title when my phone, which I need to have, will let me download the games I want for $19.99? When I was a kid and I got $20 a week if I did all my chores maybe I would save, but now I’m an adult and I need to feed, clothe and shelter myself. In a similar vein, why would I spend money on an NES or SNES classic when I can download an emulator for free and get a controller adapter for my PC for like thirty bucks? \n\nI love Nintendo and have since I was a boy, and I find their history compelling and interesting (Nintendo is over 120 years old and got its start selling playing cards(11)), but I see a few things giving me concern for their future. \n\nMost baffling to me is that they can’t ever seem to sustain momentum. \n\nSony has pretty much been the top dog since the late 1990’s, Microsoft has at times pushed them but has mostly been the girl you married because you settled for her and not the girl you wanted, but a line graph of Nintendo from 1996 to today would look like waves in the ocean. \n\nAfter essentially putting Sega out of the console game, they followed the hugely successful Super Nintendo with the Nintendo 64; while a very good and to this day beloved console, that didn’t stop them from being TKOed in the third round by Sony and the upstart PlayStation, which sold nearly three times as many units, pioneered the disc format still in use today and snatched away and has yet to relinquish many of Nintendo’s most prized exclusive properties (Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid chief among them). \n\nThey then followed the 64 with the GameCube, and the less said about that debacle the better. Already at the time accused of being too ‘kiddy’, someone at Nintendo decided to follow up the Nintendo 64 with a purple lunch box that used a now extinct mini disc format. To make things even less fair the GameCube was matched up against the PlayStation 2, which even given the PS4’s great numbers should still after this generation remain the best selling console in history (and for my money it’s the best console ever, its library is second to none). \n\nLicking their wounds from the GameCube embarrassment, they appeared to capture lightning in a bottle with the Wii, which shipped over one hundred million units.\n\n...Which they then followed up with the WiiU, a monumental failure that relied on a game pad with a three hour battery life (fucking frustrating!) and didn’t even get a proper next gen Mario title and a Zelda that launched in conjunction with the Switch. \n\nThe WiiU’s legacy will be that it led to the Switch. \n\nNintendo consoles have become supplementary in the world of the gamer. ‘Yeah, I have it for Mario and Zelda but mostly I play my PlayStation 4’. \n\nMy Wii was king for about two years, then I discovered Rock Band and it spent time in a box until Skyward Sword dropped (a great game, but a mediocre Zelda game), and after I beat that game, back in the closet it went.\n\nSame with my WiiU; I got about eight solid months out of Mario Kart 8, then it sat in a box until Breath of the Wild came, and I just recently sold it to a friend for pennies on the dollar.\n\nThe Nintendo 64 was the last Nintendo system for ‘hardcore gamers’. I know Nintendo has said they want to broaden the appeal to the ‘casual market’ , but as it is in any other arena the casual market is fickle and lacks loyalty...again, not saying casual fans are bad, but rather just expressing a truth. \n\nThe casual sports fan watches from home and buys a hat, they don’t buy new jerseys and go to ten games a year. \n\nThe casual car fan goes to car shows and when car shopping stresses price and practicality, they don’t buy and fix classic cars. \n\nThe casual music fan buys a record off iTunes, they don’t see the band on all of their tours. \n\nThe casual gamer plays games at their buddy’s house or buys a console and sticks to two or three games, they don’t get a five year platinum membership and ten new games (plus downloads and DLCs) every year.\n\nVery few gamers have a Nintendo console, even a Switch, as their ‘main’ console.\n\nThey can’t seem to pump out the high end exclusives fast enough, and there are often delays that aggravate their followers. \n\nThere was almost six years between Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. ‘Gamers are pissed about the news of Breath of the Wild being pushed back another 9 months, here’s a fresh idea, let’s re-release Ocarina of Time!’\n\nBreath of the Wild’s continual delays – first scheduled in 2015, then 2016 before finally coming in 2017 – is one of the biggest reasons I have no plans to purchase another Nintendo console. Even though the game itself was worth it in the end, its not the first time Nintendo has said ‘This highly anticipated game you’re all looking forward to? We need 10 more months to work on it’. New York City has three times as many people as Toronto and a metropolitan area twice as expansive. \n\nSan Francisco, a city of similar size, has 11 plus six additional elected officials and one mayor.\n\nVancouver has just ten. \n\nThe Better Local Government Act is being opposed by mayor John Tory(3).  Who in politics wants fewer sycophants? \n\nThe Toronto Daily Worker, I mean the Toronto Star(4), wades into the fray in the typical wishy-washy way they usually approach arguments. \n\n‘No one wants to see the council grow in size, and people are tired of the status quo, but that doesn’t mean Doug Ford should actually do something about it!’\n\nIt’s much easier to govern a fat, lazy and ignorant populace than a capable and informed one, as George Carlin put perfectly around four minutes into this not-safe-for-work rant. \n\nhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9dY4WlxO6i0\n\n\nWhy does Toronto need four times as many public officials to ‘run the city’ than a similar sized city on the west coast does? It absolutely doesn’t.\n\n\nHe also scrapped Kathleen Wynne’s highly controversial 2015 sex ed program(5).\n\nThe original plan was authored by a convicted child sex offender(6). Which alone should have squashed it in its infancy. \n\nI mean, it doesn’t read too poorly(7)...Until you break it down a little(8).\n\nIn grade 2 kids learn about consent? Okay sure, but ‘yes’ doesn’t always mean ‘yes’ and ‘no’ doesn’t always mean ‘no’, for example ‘, yes if’ and ‘no, but’ and I don't think that a bunch of six and seven year olds will be able to grasp the subtleties of that. \n\nGrade 3, gender identity?\n\nGrade 4...so the kids learn about consent and gender identity before the changes they’ll all be going through in puberty? Okay then.\n\nGrade 7, anal sex, oral sex...and contraception? Again, years after learning about consent and gender identity?\n\nMany parents were displeased with the new sex-ed curriculum(9), but it got pushed through anyways, because the essence of politics is 'we're in power and we can, so fuck you'.\n\nI’m not saying these things aren’t important, but that when I had my sex education in school, the gist was basically ‘we know you’re going to be doing it soon and we can’t stop you from doing it, but we can at least inform you about the risks and tell you how to keep safe...’\n\nThe rest was covered at home, because sex is a personal thing, something that your family, and not the state, should do their best to inform you of.\n\nThe ubiquity of the internet has all but ensured that ‘We don’t want our kids learning about sex from the internet!’ is the same as the ‘We don’t want our kids learning about sex from the TV!’ line my generation heard twenty years ago.\n\nI heard ‘Mommy’s tired, go and watch some TV’, kids today get ‘Mommy’s tired, play with your iPad’.       "body": "![Redbeard Politics Banner.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWu63bxgjDkHYq6XmBoNbUQCdQLnFvFpScgKWEqmR72wP/Redbeard%20Politics%20Banner.png)\n\nThe Democratic Party is in huge trouble; Part Two: The 2018 Midterm Elections\n\n![barack-obama-speech-1024.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRm1Tdu3E1PkdvHwcLBCxBrPDwWdZU2WWfrugcpkuLboc/barack-obama-speech-1024.jpg)\n\nIn 2020 they’ll watch Trump get re-elected, but in 2018 they could very well lose the House and the Senate...even more of the House and Senate... \n\nAs covered in Part One(1), the Democratic Party has absolutely zero compelling and scandal-free politicians to run for office in 2020 against Donald Trump, so anyone who can see which way the wind blows sees an incoming bloodbath (over-under on Trump getting 450 Electoral College Votes?).\n\nBut to further understand the severity of the situation, a few things about how the government of the United States works need to be demystified:\n\n1.\tAmerica is not quite the democracy that many people think it is. A democracy itself can mean several different things, for example in a direct democracy (see: Athens, some of the cantons of Switzerland), the citizenry votes for their leaders and votes on each individual issue. In a representative democracy (see: Australia, India) people elect their representatives to make choices for them along party lines. America is a representative republic, a confederation of states (who themselves have some say in how they interpret the Constitution – that’s why there are dispensaries in Colorado but not Kentucky and why open carry is legal in Vermont but not in California) in which the people are represented by their elected officials and a president, instead of unelected royalty. America has certain aspects of a democracy (elections, a constitution), but is something unique and different entirely. \n\nhttp://rlv.zcache.com/two_wolves_and_a_lamb_postcards-rd2c44937669448abacf18b90f3b9d647_vgbaq_8byvr_512.jpg\n\n2.\tThe president of the United States of America is largely a figurehead with limited power to enact legislation, they can reach around congress by issuing executive orders(2), but they’re largely at the mercy of the legislative branch of the federal government. \n\nPerhaps the most noteworthy and controversial executive order in recent memory was Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, more commonly known as DACA. \n\nSo the main takeaway from those two points is that America isn’t a democracy per se, and that the powers of the office of president are quite limited in scope. With that we can move on, to the sausage (or boerwoer...if RedBeard and Jinxi would have it) of this article; the significance of the 2018 Midterm Elections, and why if the Democrats don’t win them, their party could potentially be facing political extinction in the United States.\n\nMidterm Elections happen in even numbered years not divisible by four halfway through a presidential term. Donald Trump was elected in November of 2016, so the 2018 Midterms are in November of this year. The next Midterms will be in 2022.\n\nThat’s just three months away. The primary elections are later this week. \n\n\nIn the Midterms, all of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up in the air, as are 35 seats in the Senate and this year there are 39 governorship spots available.\n\nThe Republicans currently hold a 236-193 majority in the House with six vacant seats. To pass through the House a bill needs a simple majority, 218 votes, and the House is already well in Republican hands. That’s not to say voters can afford to be apathetic, but just that the margins are less slim in the House. \n\nBut the real intrigue lies in Congress, where Donald Trump has been having trouble passing some of his policies despite a 51-47 majority with two independents.\n\nThe rules of Congress are a touch more esoteric than those of the House. A bill needs just a 51% majority to pass, but in the event of a 51% vote, members of either party (or the independents) can filibuster in an attempt to block the vote.\n\nSouth Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond famously filibustered the 1957 Civil Rights Act for over 24 hours(3)...its also worth nothing that at the time he was a Democrat (he switched affiliations in 1964) and he was filibustering against Civil Rights(4).\n\nOnce either party reaches a 60% majority in Congress, they can block any opposition filibuster with a cloture vote.\n\nThere has been talk of filibuster reform, switching the burden from the majority party (to finding 60+ votes and blocking) to the requiring the party with the intent to filibuster needing to find 41 or more votes(15).\n\nIf the Republicans can get a 60% majority then passing the agenda of the president becomes much easier.\n\nBuilding the wall? 60-40.\n\nDeclaring the internet a public utility, as it probably should be? 60-40.\n\nEnding Silicon Valley’s abuse of the H1B visa to import third world programmers so they can fire Americans because they don’t like paying them twice as much(5)? 60-40.\n\nResolving the DACA situation with the inclusion of a path to citizenship, as is fair? 60-40.\n\n‘It’s not that bad, the Democrats only need to resurge in the House and win three more seats and the Republicans need to lose one!’, but in politics it’s never that simple, without even considering that voting across the aisle does happen. \n\nIn the past twenty years, although it’s been greatly ramped up in the last five, the Democrats have become the party of:\n\n-\tSocialism (see: Sanders, Bernie and Ocasio-Cortez, Alexandra). Taking from the rich and later the middle class and giving it to the poor (while also keeping some of it for ‘the party’). They never seem to mention Venezuela, but will cite the success of countries like Norway in implementing some Socialist policies, they think it could work in America. Norway is smaller than California and has 5.3 million people.\n\nI notice quite a heavy handed ‘Europe fetishization’ among the North American left and the Democratic Party... \n\n-\tContinual Russia boogeymaning even if it leads to a nuclear confrontation, when the most recent Gallup poll shows that less than one percent of Americans consider this so-called ‘collusion’ an important issue(6).\n\n-\tAbolishing the border and letting anyone come to America and if they don’t want to work, they get the same benefits as everyone else! \n\n\n-\tWhile out of one side of their mouth they preach on the plight of these ‘poor, undocumented immigrants!’, they’re also the party of the super rich; Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffet and George Soros all either openly endorse or have given significant contributions to the party. \n\n-\tSocial justice insanity, you’ve heard it before, ‘there’s 67 genders!’, ‘white people are the devil!’, ‘the patriarchy oppresses women!’, ‘everything is racist!’. \n\n\n-\tInability to stay on message on a single issue for more than a week. The Parkland shooting, the Vegas massacre, the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, the attack on the Syrian air base and the North Korean summit in Singapore. What do these things have in common? They all happened within the last calendar year, yet I don’t remember the last time they received mention in the mainstream media. \n\n-\tIdiotic welfare policies. Its legal in California to fail to disclose your HIV positive status to potential sex partners, take a dump on the streets of San Francisco and they have needle programs for addicts...what is illegal? Drinking straws(7).\n\n\nNo, really...\n\n http://magaimg.net/img/5tkn.jpg\n\n-\tHollywood. You know, the people who can’t go a week without making some remake no one asked for? Who make more in a year than most people do in five lifetimes? Who fly around the world in private jets, boat around in super yachts and live in 20,000 Square foot homes but tell the family of four making $60,000 a year that they’re the ones who need to minimize their greenhouse gas emissions? \n\n-\tNo wait, Hollywood, the ones who tell us we need to let anyone who wants to come to America in but live in gated communities with armed guards, and who say ‘women are oppressed!’ and then you find out they raped a bunch of women, and the ones who stood up and said ‘no!’ got their livelihoods threatened(7)?\n\n\n-\tOh wait, no! It’s the Hollywood who’s long rumoured paedophilia problems seem to finally be coming to the fore(8)! \n\nBurn it to the ground. \n\n-\tContinual Trump outrage. Oh no! He fucked some porn star fifteen years ago and paid her to sign an NDA which is 100% legal, impeach! Impeachment isn’t worth jack shit unless he’s convicted of a crime, Bill Clinton was impeached but still served his two terms. \n\n-\tAnarchy, chaos and intolerance. Even at 19:00pm we were dying of the heat and rushing back to wallow in the pool.\nIt had been a really long day and after not really having a big a lunch we decided to splurge a little and order room service.\n\n\n\nThe food was tasty. Beacon and egg beef burgers with a side order of french fries, chocolate chip, almond slices and fruit ice-cream. There aren't too many foreigners around so you still get that “old China” vibe. But now no one is laughing.\n\nThey're crying. \n\nI believed what I did not because of any fondness for him or any of his specific policies, but because in his run-up to the presidency, Donald Trump tapped into something among the people of America; how pissed off the average American is at having been bent over and given an unlubed pounding with a sandpaper condom by Washington for the last fifty years.\n\nThe events of that night created a butterfly effect that will ripple and float through the rest of human history. \n\nAs we remember, Trump had no way of beating Hillary Clinton(1).\n\nBut he did.\n\nAnd ever since he did, she just isn't going away...\n\n\nImage: https://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/279/404/1df.jpg\n\n\nHer continued media presence leads me to believe they're considering trotting her out there in 2020 for the next presidential election.\n\nWhile she has the best name recognition, Hillary Clinton represents what exactly brought the Democratic Party to this low point.\n\nIn 2016, the party placed all of its eggs in one basket.\n\nTheir 2016 election strategy would be akin getting a million dollars from a deceased relative, putting all of it into one coin, taking a crippling loss and then bitching to anyone who will listen that the blockchain is biased and needs to be changed. \n\nAs a result of their affinity for Mrs Clinton, the DNC screwed over one of the candidates they had that even though he sounded like an idiot, actually spoke to the people (2).\n\nIn backing Clinton so hard, they neglected their bench. Just a few months away from crucial Midterms (more on those in Part Two), they have literally no one who would even come close to defeating Trump in 2020, which could potentially make Reagan's run for re-election in 1984 (that one where he won 49 STATES!) look like a fair fight and not the Great White Shark vs. a puppy bloodbath it was. \n\nLet's just take a look at who they could run against Trump in 2020.\n\n\n**1. Her behavior is not only hurting herself, but it's hurting the Democratic Party. \n\nAmerica loved Hillary twenty years ago when she stood by Bill as he was getting his sax blown in the Oval Office - which in hindsight looks now like an early attempt at trying to farm some political capital. \n\nThen they didn't really much care for her when she was running against Obama (though like anyone had a chance, they made him look like God(3)). \n\nAs Secretary of State, the first things that springs to mind are the further destabilization of the Middle East and something about a private server in her bathroom. \n\nNearing three decades in the public eye by 2016, we had full blown Hillary fatigue - compounded further by her continued whining to anyone who will listen about losing a democratically held election to Donald Trump two years ago. As mentioned, if she's seriously considering another run and eventual embarrassing defeat, she should pivot her strategy. \n\nShe will be 73 years old in 2020, and she doesn't seem to be a healthy 73, a healthy 73-year-old doesn't fall down and break something every few months(4). It's not even a certainty that she's alive in 2020.\n\nThat's without even getting to the scandals which I won't have space for, but information about isn't hard to find if you're willing to look (though it's hardly ever reported on) .\n\nI do find it a little off-putting how so many people who have been close to her ended up mysteriously dead...\n\nImage: http://www.whale.to/c/14925345_10154728526212390_6651274870380183152_n.jpg\n\nHer health is questionable, she has far too many skeletons in her closet and this alleged 'Great love' I've been told the small people have for her and her 'many admirable qualities' have been vastly overstated. \n\nRunning her would be stupid, but it seems the Democrats have tossed all logic and reason out the window since 2016. \n\nI doubt it but I wouldn't totally rule it out. \n\n\n**2. I keep mentioning ages because it's important, so I should also mention that Donald Trump will be 74 in 2020.\n\nBernie resonated with the masses, a lot of people liked his ideas.\n\nFree tuition!\nJobs for everyone!\n$15 an hour minimum wage!\nWeed!\n\nAnd why wouldn't they? What is politics if not a way to monetize telling people what they want to hear? \n\nSo while his ideas - on paper at least - were sound, nobody seemed to be noticing as they donated their grocery money and their kids' college funds to his campaign one crucial detail; 'Hey! How is this senile old fuck going to pay for all of this?'\n\nTo ask the question is to answer it; he wouldn't be paying for it, you would. I know people more than twice my age that still don't realize that there's no such thing as a free lunch. \n\nSo how would you pay? Would the 1%ers, and later 2%ers, 5%ers and 10%ers and so on down the line, be dragged from their homes and lynched in the dead of night, as has happened in most communist regimes?\n\nProbably not...certainly not in America, where the second amendment guarantees the right to own guns and many people, especially people with money, have some form of security. \n\nIt would have been a massive tax hike for everyone, but most of all the nefarious 1%.\n\nMassive as in something like 40% Federal and minimum 20% State income tax and a 20% Sales tax. \n\nBoth a Soviet-style purge of the wealthy and a giant tax hike would lead to the same thing; anyone who has money grabbing it and catching the first plane out of the country. \n\nImagine you have a nine-figure bank account, and the government calls for you to give 90% of it to 'the government'.\n\nDo you just do that?
