Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), a dicotyledonous plant which belongs to the biological family Convolvulaceae. It is a large, starchy, sweet-tasting, tuberous root. The young leaves and shoots are sometimes eaten as greens.\t\nThe plant is a herbaceous perennial vine bearing alternate heart shaped or palmately lobed leaves and medium-sized sympetalous flowers. The edible tuberous root is long and tapered, with a smooth skin whose color ranges between yellow, orange, red, brown, purple, and beige. Its flesh ranges from beige through white, red, pink, violet, yellow, orange, and purple. Sweet potato cultivars with white or pale yellow flesh are less sweet and moist than those with red, pink or orange flesh (Gad et al, 2009). Size reduction is mostly the third process in processing sweet potato after peeling\t and washing for various products of the tuber crop. Since it is a tuber crop and is hard, much energy is required to overcome the hardness and reduce its size for further processes.\n The size reduction technique could be milling, slicing cutting etc. to desired final particle size needed. Ipomoea batatas commonly refers to as sweet potato is a dicotyledonous plant that belongs to the genius ipomoea and of the family convolvulacease originated from the tropical region in America.\nSweet potatoes are a large, starchy, herbaceous perennial vine and tuberous vegetable crops whose young leaves are sometimes edible. It bears an ultimate heart shaped or palmate lobe leaves and medium size sympetalous flower with a long and tempered smooth skin, with either yellow, orange red or brownish coloured tuberous edible roots. it chemical composition includes, 50-81mg/100g moisture content,1.0-2.4mg/100g protein, 1.8-6.4mg/100g fat, 8.0-29mg/100g starch, 0.5-7.5mg/100g non starch, 0.5-7.5mg/100g reducing sugar, and 0.9-1.4mg/100g ash. Any potato variety can also be propagated vegetatively by planting tubers, pieces of tubers, cut to include at least one or two eyes, or also by cuttings, a practice used in greenhouses for the production of healthy seed tubers. Some commercial potato varieties do not produce seeds at all (they bear imperfect flowers) and are propagated only from tuber pieces. Some the final food product gotten are deep frozen chips, crisps and mashed product. The by-products of sweet potato could be processed into starch, glucose and dextrose which are used for biscuit and other sweetening products. In the brewing industries and confectionery, some tuber crops are used for the production of distil alcohol and other related products, but in the non-food sector, sweet potato is used as ingredient for cardboard, glue, textile, paint and laundry material production (Roman,2001). Reducing the size of food raw materials is an important operation to achieve a definite size range (Henderson and Perry, 1980). \nSlicing is a post-harvest processing technology utilized on tubers with large mass so that the reduced products can easily be further processed either traditionally or industrially into food for human or other industrial products. Various types of machines are manufactured from small hand-operated batch-types to large automatic continuous operation models. Some are petrol, diesel or electric motor operated. There are cassava chippers, tomato slicers, okro slicers and other root and vegetable choppers. Ukatu and Aboaba (1996) designed, constructed and evaluated a machine for slicing yam and it was reported that the machine’s thickness of cut can be varied from 2 mm to 20 mm and the slicing efficiency ranged from 82 to 93% and the rate of work is 45 cuts per minute.\nSamailaet.al.(2008) design and constructed a manually operated vegetable slicing equipment which consist of a cutting blade with sharp serrated edges to piece and sliced the product effectively. During slicing, a press bar pushes the product against stationary blades and as well pushes the sliced product into the collection chamber. With potato, okro and carrot as the test sample, the equipment was tested and the following test result where obtained.\nAji,et.al,(2013),Development of an electrically operated cassava slicing machine and the performance of the machine were evaluated with cassava of average length and diameter of 253 mm and 60 mm respectively at an average speed of 154 rpm. The machine produced 5.3 kg of chips of 10 mm length and 60 mm diameter in 1 minute. The efficiency of the machine was 95.6% with respect to the quantity of the input cassava. The slices were found to be well sliced to the designed thickness, shape and of generally similar size. Galvanized steel sheets were used in the cutting section to avoid corrosion of components.\nThe machine is portable and easy to operate which can be adopted for cassava processing in a medium size industry.\nAniyi (2006), design and fabricated an electric motor ginger slicing machine which consist of a cylinder, a piston, blade holder, blade separator, blades, crankshaft and connecting rod. The ginger slicer utilizes the reciprocating principle effect with fixed blade, power by an electric motor. A “TarinGiwa” one of the ginger species was used as sample to evaluate the cutting efficiency which was found to be 77% at 30% moisture content wet basis. Therefore, according to result obtain, the slicing efficiency is higher at moisture content than in the dry basis.\nApart from the above developed chippers and slicers; several chipping machines and slicers are available. They were designed and tested in different part of the world especially in continents such as Asia. Some manufactured from small hand operated batch-type to large automatic continuous operation models (Clarke 1989).\nThese machines are operated manually and automatically depending on the manufacturers\nwish and the required energy and the purpose of utility. They include;\nCassava chippers, tomatoes slicers, okra slicers, and other root and vegetable choppers.\nUNIFEM (2006). Reported that Nardi Francesco and Figli of Italy design and constructed a manually operated tuber chipper with a rotating disc fitted with four blades. So much attention has been paid to its preservation and storage to improve high yield. In an effort to improve yield, extend shelf life, and curtail time consumption during processing, the physical an mechanical properties of sweet potato has been measured and calculated and an electronic sweet potato slicing  machine has been designed to ease slicing process of sweet potato.       "body": "•\nSteem vs BTC: \n\n\nEveryone have probably heard of bitcoin. It is the first and main cryptocurrency that is listed on the market. It has the largest market capitalization among all cryptocurrencies, and the largest trade volume daily. The next contender(Ethereum) has only around 10% of bitcoin's market cap.\nMany people have invested in bitcoin, since it is the most widespread and popular cryptocurrency right now. It is even viewed as a safe haven for investors, to hedge against fiat monetary inflation. And bitcoin has certainly given many early adopters the chance to tell a rags to riches story themselves.\n\nHowever, in this article I'm going to challenge the notion that bitcoin will the #1 cryptocurrency forever. I'll also state reasons why Steem has a good chance of overtaking bitcoin in a few years time.\n1. Most of the things bitcoin is designed to do can be achieved through Steem, and Steem does them better.\n\n\nBitcoin is a very basic blockchain technology. Many altcoins have been made to attempt improve on bitcoin, but most of them their owners simply end up running away, it turns into a pump and dump scheme, or it is simply a blatant copy of bitcoin, except for a few parameters.\n\nSteem has all the main functions of bitcoin - a decentralized, trustless payment network. But better.\n\nSteem is designed to have everyone to participate in a community. With bitcoin you can literally live under a rock, but with Steem, you're actively contributing to the community.\n\nI'll talk more about the merits of Steem compared to bitcoin in the below points.\n\n2. Steem is still young, and has more potential to grow.\nSteem has only been active for really 2-3 months, and there is only currently around 50,000 total users compared to the 8.5 million users on blockchain.info alone. This leaves us with a lot of room to grow. And with only 50,000 total users, we are already #3 on the cryptocurrency market capitalization list.\n\nIt's also a bit like silver and gold. Steem is extremely undervalued at this point in my opinion, just like silver is undervalued to gold. Also, silver has real tangible industrial demands and actual uses, while with gold it's pure speculation.\n\nThe google searches for Steem and Steemit are soaring, even though the value of 1 STEEM has fallen due to dilution; while bitcoin's searches purely relies on the price of it. This proves that Steem has intrinsic value and has real life applications as a technology, social media and monetary system, while bitcoin is pure speculation.\n\n\n\n\n3. Steem is more fairly distributed, and less easily manipulated.\n\n\nThis might seem crazy for some of you, but in reality the whales aren't that bad after all. They actually do us all good, by upvoting quality content. Their biggest job is to curate, as it benefits both the Steem community and themselves through curation rewards. They are the ones who make the newbies get more Steempower themselves, and becomes dolphins.\n\nBitcoin however, is purely there for the people who mined when it was 1 cent per coin. The people who were early adopters will never make new worthwhile additions to the community richer like they do on Steem - they simply get richer and richer from their existing stash, and thus widening the gap between the rich and the poor.\n\nAlso, one person can manipulate the bitcoin market if he holds just a few million dollars in bitcoins. However, Steem whales actually cannot do that. Because what they hold is Steempower, and worst case scenario they can only dump 1/104 of their Steempower stash in one week, or 1/728 in one day. That's not much at all, considering trading volume is consistently above 300 BTC daily on Poloniex alone.\n\n4. The Steem platform is designed for stability and everyday commerce.\nBitcoin doesn't really offer any stability, and it can encourages hoarding instead of spending the coin actively in exchange of goods. Thus, many people regard bitcoin as an asset, instead of a real currency.\n\nWith Steemdollars however within the Steem platform, this problem is solved. People can now have a trustless, decentralized but still price stable currency that they know won't fluctuate like bitcoin do on a regular basis. And thus a real market with Steem is formed - people start buying and selling goods in exchange for Steemdollars.\n\nAnd with the constant dilution of Steem, people are encouraged to power up instead of hoarding their Steem and speculating.\n\n5. Everyone can get involved in Steem and earn some themselves, without an investment.\nThis means that everyone can get involved in it. Not just rich people. Everyone who has access to the internet can have a go at Steem and see how it works. No risk involved, no strings attached. It's as simple as that - people have a chance to experiment with the network before deciding for themselves whether they would like to take it up or not, and thus having a larger chance of attracting more users, and getting more value into the system.\n\n6. Steem gives you interest!\n\n\nOne of the most important part of a working decentralized banking system is knowing that you're rewarded for holding the tokens. Steem offers interest on both Steemdollars and Steempower. Bitcoin obviously doesn't, and you would like to grow your bitcoins, then you'd have to lend it out to an interested party - through a mediator such as Loanbase. Not so decentralized after all, huh.\n\n7. Bitcoin has negative associations - Steem doesn't.\nBitcoin has been associated with many negative things - and will continued to be associated with negative things in the future. From illicit drugs to child pornography, you can literally get anything from the dark web, which pretty much only accepts bitcoin as its payment method. I support freedom of choice, and a free market, however for many average citizens they think that bitcoin is immoral simply because of the dark net associations. My friends in particular stay away from bitcoin for this reason, thinking that the police will track them down.\n\nSteem can solve this problem, and erase the image of a drug cartel from the face of cryptocurrencies.\n\n8. More females are joining Steem than any other cryptocurrencies.\nAn interesting point to raise about Steem is that if you take a look at the trending pages, women are actually getting paid just as well as men in many cases. Also women are stepping up and constantly contributing to the community - and getting paid for their contributions. This is also because Steem is relevant to them as social media and easier to understand than other cryptocurrencies, which I'll cover later on.\n\nObviously, there is still so inevitable inequalities, but I believe that in future, when Steem goes mainstream, there will be almost perfect balance between male and female rewards.\n\n9. Steem founders are publicly known.\n@ned and @dan are publicly identified as Steem's founders. They don't cover themselves up with a pseudonym like Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of bitcoin did.\n\nAgain, the general public isn't comfortable with trusting a person who is completely anonymous - and holding 1 million out of 15 million coins in existence. He can wreck his own invention if he wanted to any day by dumping all his bitcoin stash.\n\nHaving active founders also mean that we get more technical support, and the community runs smoother in general.\n\n10. Steem is easy to understand.\nSteemit does a great job to bring Steem technology to life. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Steem is surprisingly easy to understand, as proven by the amount of women who has a Steem account, as opposed to the amount of women who have a bitcoin wallet.\n\nAs I said in my previous posts - understanding Steem only took me personally a few hours to understand. And I could explain it very well to my friends immediately after I learned what it truly was.\n\nConclusion\nI am very excited about Steem. I believe that it will simply be a matter of time before Steem overtakes bitcoin as the number 1 cryptocurrency, simply because it has more intrinsic value and worth.\nBut in order for that to happen, we'll have to let more people know about this amazing technology.       "body": "My name is @raypower2017. I was born on the 29th of June in 1998, which means I am 19 years old now. I have got 4 siblings; en elder sister and 3 younger brothers. Then I have got my mom and dad too. I'm mostly close with my sister, as she's the only sister I have. However, I do love my brothers too and make the most of it whenever I am with them.\n \nI have been living and studying in Denmark, then I moved to England with my family. I finished off my highschool and took 1 years in college, then I moved back to Denmark again. It just didn't work out with me and my family. So now we're back in Denmark and I have started in 'Avedøre Gymnasium' and hopefully I will be able to finish off with some great grades and then I plan to study abroad in England. The field I am thinking to study in is; Medicine. England is a great country with great opportunities, so I will have no doubt, when It'll come down to choose a count.\n\n\n \nSome interests I have got are; reading books, wacthing movies, cooking and praying. I love to read books, because books can always be true friends. They never demand neither do they complain. This is the way I look upon books. Mostly I read novels. Currently I am reading a novel called \"The Blind Assasin\".\n \nMoving on to favourite movies; Titanic, Romeo & Juliet, Crash, Twilight. Basically the list can go on and on. I must be up to date with the latest movies.\n \nCooking has been a huge interest of mine. My mom's a great cook- especially in asian cooking. I think I have got it from her.
