Today i am going to share it with my community.\n\nBloat in cattle:\n\nBloat is simply the build up of gas in the rumen. \nThis gas is produced as part of the normal process of digestion, and is normally lost by belching (eructation). \n\n![FB_IMG_1626864686551.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXKzv6PMk5tycGQnvKn7Zxn4MjMy9jFkF9VvjNfmmyJod/FB_IMG_1626864686551.jpg)\n\nBloat occurs when this loss of gas is prevented. \n\nThere are two sorts of bloat:\n\nThe least common type is gassy bloat, which occurs when the gullet is obstructed (often by foreign objects such as potatoes) or when the animal can’t burp (such as with milk fever or tetanus). \n\nThe second type of bloat is frothy bloat, which happens as the result of a stable foam developing on top of the rumen liquid, which blocks the release of the gas. \nThis is by far the most common form of bloat, and unlike gassy bloat, it is highly seasonal with peaks in the spring and autumn. \nThis is because the foam is formed by breakdown products from rapidly growing forages (particularly legumes such as clover and alfalfa). \nThese increase the viscosity (stickiness) of the rumen fluid and prevent the small bubbles of gas formed by rumen fermentation from coming together to form free gas that can be belched off\n\n𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙨\n\nDistended left abdomen is the most obvious sign\nUsually associated with pain, discomfort, and bellowing.\n\nDeath can occur within 15 minutes after the development of bloat.\nGaseous bloat is usually seen in one or two animals. \nFrothy bloat can affect up to 25% of cases.\nIn some cases sudden death may be the first sign seen by the stockman, although in such cases it is likely that there will be other cattle with bloat that are still alive.\n\n𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙨\n\nOn the clinical signs described above\nHistory of access to lush pasture\nPassing a stomach tube will distinguish between gassy and frothy bloat. \nIf it’s gassy bloat a stomach tube passed into the rumen will allow the gas build-up to escape through the tube. No such gas is seen in frothy bloat.\n***\nKNOW YOUR ANIMAL’S CONDITION- BLOAT/ RUMINAL TYMPANY\n\nThis is a condition which affects the rumen (the first of the four divisions of stomach in ruminants) of ruminants and is characterised by a distended abdomen resulting from an accumulation of gas. \nMicrobes resident in the rumen aid in the fermentation of feed eaten by ruminants and this is part of the normal process of digestion. \nAs a result of the fermentation process, gas is produced which is normally expelled through the mouth by a process known as eructation or burping. \nBloat therefore results when there is any form of hindrance to the normal release of gas from the rumen.\n\n𝙏𝙔𝙋𝙀𝙎 𝙊𝙁 𝘽𝙇𝙊𝘼𝙏\n\nBased on what is preventing the easy eructation of the gas produced by the fermentation of food, bloat is classified into two main forms: \n1. Gassy Bloat and \n2. 2. Frothy Bloat\n𝙂𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙮 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙩\nThis is the less common type and it occurs when the oesophagus is blocked normally by a foreign object such as lumps of feed, or when the ruminant cannot burp as a result of weakness especially in conditions such as Hypocalcaemia. \n\n𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙩:\nThis is the more common type and it happens as a result of a layer of foam forming on top of the ruminal content thereby preventing the free release of gas. \nThis form of bloat is quite seasonal in its occurrence and normally happens at the onset of the raining season. \nThis is because the rapidly growing forages (especially legumes) which are highly fed on are rapidly digested leading to the formation of the foam. \nThis thickens the ruminal fluid, preventing an easy formation of free gas to  be belched off.\n\nCLINICAL SIGNS\nA highly distended left abdomen \nSudden death, though other animals in the flock may be showing signs of bloat\nDeath can occur within 15 minutes of bloat as a results of impaired normal respiration. \n\n𝘿𝙄𝘼𝙂𝙉𝙊𝙎𝙄𝙎\n\nHistory of what ruminants have fed on is key\nAuscultation and Palpation\nThe use of a stomach tube help to distinguish between Gassy and Frothy Bloat. Some people claim after the arrival of Swatis in Hazara, this river was renamed because Swatis were originally from Kunar, Province of Afghanistan.\n\n2. The river originates from the upper Kaghan Valley's Dharamsar Lake, near Babusar Pass. The waters of Dudipat & Saiful Muluk Lakes feed the river, besides glacial waters from Malka Parbat & other high peaks in the valley.\n\n3.  The Kunhar flows through the entire Kaghan Valley through Jalkhand, Naran, Kaghan, Jared, Paras and Balakot, and joins the Jhelum River.\n\n4. It is commonly caused by insufficient phosphorus or vitamin D in the diet. More rarely, calcium deficiency is to blame. An excess of calcium has caused rickets-like signs in some dogs. As in most diets causing defective bone formation (osteodystrophies), the cause is typically an imbalance in the ratio of calcium to phosphorus in the diet. Animals fed all-meat diets commonly develop rickets.\n\nSign and symptoms\nBone pain and swelling\nA stiff gait or limp\nDifficulty in rising\nbowed limbs as seen in picture  \n![IMG_20210610_043708.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQX618XBgRtcjqFPvMgV6fVYGxbftnmUu2Tej7ev25D1C/IMG_20210610_043708.jpg)\n\n\nAffected puppies may become quiet and reluctant to play. It refers to an excessive accumulation of a yellow pigment in the blood and tissues. \nJaundice for longer time will discolor many tissues and will become visible.\n\nIt can be indicated from\n1. Sclera (white part of the eyes), \n2.  Pinnae (ear flaps).\n3. Gums\n Jaundice is difficult to detect in cats that have pigmented (dark) gums or skin.\n\n\nReasons:-\n 1. presence of fleas or ticks, \n 2. Infection with feline leukemia virus (FeLV) \n 3. Feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIP), \n 4. Living in or traveling to areas endemic for liver flukes or fungal diseases, \n 5. Prolonged anorexia (not eating) \n 6. Ingestion of drugs or toxins.\n\nWhy skin turns Yellow?\n1. Destruction of red blood cells. The process of red cell destruction is known as hemolysis. \n2. Liver disease. Any disease or condition that damages or destroys liver leads to jaundice.\n2. Obstruction of the bile duct.\n\n1. How to observe given Condition\nA blood sample is taken and the serum is observed to be yellow before the cat becomes visibly jaundiced. \nBlood cell breakdown\n A complete blood count (CBC). Is done for blood related causes.\n Causes\n1. toxic plants, \n2. chemicals, drugs, \n3. parasites on the RBC\n4. heartworms, \n5. autoimmune diseases\n6. cancer\n\n2. Liver issue?\nLiver enzymes are observed\nLike alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and total bilirubin for liver diagnosis. \n\n\n\n\n3.How bile duct Hemolysis is observed?\nCats with obstructed bile ducts are usually extremely icteric.
