The blockchain gets “clogged” and it can take hours or even days for people to receive their payments (most recently, the CryptoKitties [2]game caused great impact to the Ethereum blockchain[3]). Lisk solves this with sidechains, which is literally a side-blockchain that runs in parallel to the main-blockchain. It is estimated that if CryptoKitties launched on Lisk and used a sidechain, it would only have 6% of the transaction load[4] when compared to Ethereum.\nDPoS - DPoS is a distributed proof of stake system. This is important for the sustainability and energy usage of our environment. The various different “mining” operations that secure Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other networks costs huge amounts of energy. The very, very most efficient miners operate at around 0.1 giga-hash per watt. [5]Consider that there is hundreds and hundreds of peta-hashes of mining power in operation costing millions of dollars in energy and environmental damage. DPoS only permits enough hashing power to secure the network and make it fast, and the “miners” are voted in by the community (known as a “delegate” in Lisk terms).\nJavascript - For the last 5 years, Javascript is the most popular programming language[6]. It dominates the web. Lisk is built on, is programmed by, and developers can interact with it using Javascript. One of the biggest hurdles is getting blockchain into the hands of developers to build on and innovate. Many other blockchains have difficulty in this area and have resorted to creating their own, obscure languages. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.\nThis is not investment advice.
