Drought is increasingly becoming a national security issue. Rain is a natural event that comes when it comes. It is not something that one can summon on command.\n\nWater security is an important arrow to have in a nation’s national security quiver. An atmospheric water generator could fill an important gap toward accomplishing that goal. This technology is a device that takes the moisture in the air and converts it into drinking water. It works in both humid or arid climates. The arid places of the world  have clouds in the atmosphere. Even though there might not be any  rainfall coming from those clouds they still contain water inside. An atmospheric water generator (AWG) can extract water from that atmosphere . \n\n\n\nAccording to ecoloblue a major player in the industry :\n\n\n“There are 37,500 trillion gallons of \"fresh\" water in the air at any given time and through a hydrological cycle recycles this amount every 9 - 16 days.  8 miles straight-up of untapped atmosphere just waiting to contribute to life on Earth. In order to wring out as much water from the atmosphere as possible some people living in more arid climates are putting Atmospheric Water generators inside greenhouses. This is because the air inside a greenhouse is hotter and much more humid than outside, this effect heightens the conditions to allow more water to be extracted from within the greenhouse than if the unit were outside in the more arid environment.\n\nThe consequences of droughts is that they  often trigger dislocations and  mass migrations leading to a global refugee crisis.  As water scarcity accelerates in the future there is increasing concern that  fighting is likely to occur between people and nations competing for scarce water resources  as droughts, heatwaves and other weather-related disasters take their toll on people, cattle and other livestock .\n\nIt is important to keep in mind that in many agricultural societies around the planet livestock is a measure of a person’s wealth and when livestock  dies from drought  a farmer is impoverished with not much prospect for recovery as that person too often starts a slow decline into refugee status which leads to the flip side of the issue, which is that the repercussions from a mass exodus of victims  from drought stricken regions runs the risk of fueling a backlash of nationalism and resentment among rich nations reacting with a “not in my backyard” response . \n\nIt was partly a fear of being overrun by masses of  refugees that influenced the UK  to withdraw from the European Union and fueled the rise of right wing parties in France, Germany and other European nations. Atmospheric water generators can play an important role in mitigating the effects of drought . They can be sized to fit both domestic or commercial scale,  for a single household or an entire village . My family originally hails from Lazio, Italy.  I moved from Paris France and I am currently residing in California, USA.\n\n\nIn the course of doing research on cryptocurrency I discovered Steemit. \nI’ve been cruising around the Steemit network and I am very pleased to see so much energy and enthusiasm . People are so passionate about their interests, I don’t think there’s much chance for boredom on this site and that’s a good thing!\n\nI am very much looking forward to learn about other people’s  interests and passions and how I might be able to contribute to the conversation. As a new member of steemit  I am still learning the ropes on how everything works which is why I am a little slow in getting out of the starting blocks. There is  so much to learn that sometimes I feel more than a little overwhelmed . But I will persevere !\n\nI can tell you that what has me excited about steemit is the opportunity to learn new things and sharing ideas and watching to see how those ideas can impact other peoples’ lives for the better. \n\nI am  looking forward to having stimulating  exchanges on many topics of mutual interest. I am keenly interested in how science and technology can bring about meaningful change that can make a difference in people’s lives. I think that technology when used judiciously is a force multiplier that can benefit us all by leveling the playing field for everyone.\n\nI have read the American constitution and in that document it talks about “promoting the general welfare “ which I think is about promoting the common good. It seems  to me that in large parts of the world ( USA included ) we are seeing way  too much of a “Hooray for me and screw you\"  attitude . \n\nPart of the value of the steemit network is that we can contribute our collective brainpower to continuing  that conversation and hopefully make a difference in the lightening of that burden in some meaningful measure.\n\n\nI have to say that for me joining steemit sort of feels like joining the rebel alliance in Star Wars.
