So I was in a really small room from what I remember. I could hear the breathing machine, alarms, nurses moving me from one side to another. And I thought that one of the nurses from what I remember she was an older white lady kinda white trashy looking. She wanted me to pay a bill, and I told her that I couldn’t afford to do it. The day turned it to night, the staff changed. Well she turned off my vitals, and it became hard to breathe so I started panicking, I could have sworn I asked someone to call 911. I thought they sent a fax into my room with a bill stating that I need to pay it otherwise they would no longer be able to take care of me. I grew a bias towards her and her two daughters that worked there. I thought they were always talking crap behind my back. But they weren’t it was all a hallucination .I can remember getting my family to come in the room in private, at this time all my motor skills were gone. I couldn’t talk, my sister actually says she could see me getting frustrated and angry, and She would have to try to understand me through hand motions. I still believe to this day, that one of the little Asian nurses, barely spoke a lick of english, tried to communicate with me through an Eharmony sexual board haha. She would point different things out to me, it would describe my pain level, and stuff. These are still really early days. From which I don’t remember a lot of.The only way that I could communicate was by writing, and I couldn’t do that either. It was just chicken scratch finally I communicated to my dad and sister that the nurses were messing with me, and changing my vitals around because I didnt pay them. I was completely serious, and to be honest I was really scared because I thought it was true. I still remember my dad, saying something like that must of been something you imagined. I was able to get a report of the vital machines, the only thing we did see is that there was a big spike in the reports on that same day that I thought I was being tortured by them.

I crashed my motorcycle into a fire hydrant sheering it off with my body and my bike. This is my story of survival. The Bad the Good And the Ugly. This site does contain graphic images, just a warning to the readers. I am writing the blog mainly to give people hope. I nearly lost my life, lost a lot of intestines, and changed as a person from this. From learning how to walk again, dealing with an ileostomy bag, and supporting myself financially with out help from disability. This is the story of how I was forced to change my lifestyle, and resulted in owning a small business. Describing the ups, and downs of the entire experience. The emotions, the regret, the pain, and those I hurt through all of this. This is my second chance in life, as I was heading down a nasty path. Coming from a lifestyle of really not caring. Living on the edge, and fueling it all with alcohol. Welcome to my story, put on your seatbelt. Get ready for a wild ride. I have found myself a new man, sober almost a year. Rebuilding my life, including the legal aspects I am facing, the financial aspects, and the health problems. This is not a pity party, it is meant to inspire anyone feeling down, stuck, or on the edge of giving up.

My accident was on July 31, and I woke up near the end of August. Last thing I remembered was getting on the bike. I almost felt like I should have woken up in my bed at home the next day. That’s when I realized that it wasn’t my bed. I was in the ICU in Los Robles hospital on life support. I had about 18 different rubes attached to me, and a tracheostomy hooked up to a breathing machine. From what I was told I was put into restraints because I was trying to pull out everything, and fighting the nurses. It was a big shock that moment everything came together, and someone had told me that it was a month later. First fear hit me, then anxiety, then regret hit me hard. And I realized that I had really messed up this time.

I felt like it was a dream at first. Almost like one of those movies where you see the person in the point of view with all the DR’s looking down on you. Family looking down at your crying, happy, sad all mixed emotions. It really sets in after that. I really felt the impact of where I was, at what had happened. For them if they are reading this, I can not be more grateful to those that spent time with me in the hospital. I wouldn’t be where I am today with out the support of them. Mainly including, my mom, dad, Natalie, Candice, my cousin Brian, and my friends Lesley, Nancy, Jake & Chad. Jonathon Johnson, My dads fiance, and all the nurses and Dr’s at the hospital. Sorry if i missed anyone, it was a blur for a lot of it considering the meds they had me on.

bodyMost of ICU was a blur. But I do remember having to get one of those beds that change your body from side to side. That always bugged me because sometimes it would turn me too far, and I would just be stuck there. The nurses coming to me and changing my IV’s and keeping a cloth on my head, and doses of advil to keep my temperature down. Hanging out with my cousin was pretty cool. I was dazed and drugged up, still couldn’t talk. But I tried really hard I can remember him and I talking through hand signals, and the big ole smile on hiss face when I tried to talk. even though I was all fucked up. I still kept a sense of humor some how, and would start messing with people trying to talk to me, because I realized that I wouldn’t be talking again for a while. You have no idea how frustrating it is trying to get your point across when you are trying to complete just a sentence. Even writing was a challenge, it was all chicken scratch from what I remember. It’s bad enough my penmanship is already horrible this just looked like a 1 year olds scribble. I have flashbacks of looking up at family members with worried faces. That kind of worried face you see when someone you love loses someone and you are at a funeral with them. The nurses were amazing. the boss nurse was pretty ridiculous. She was a very powerful woman, and wasn’t afraid to tell you what was on her mind. I can remember just sitting there watching infomercials in my bed at like 2 or 3am in the morning, and her coming up to me saying OH man give me that remote, damn infomercials! We cant have you watching infomercials, lets get you a movie or something. Sue, was one of my favorites, she was like my nurse mom. She and I would talk about her days going up to a beach house in Santa Barbara, and how they used to have every kind of toy you could imagine, and they’d spend all summer there, just playing at the beach. She was sandy blonde, probably 45 or so. Just the sweetest woman I had ever met, I could tell she had become personally attached to me. Then there was my Harley Davidson rider nurse, she used to always say, “You should just be glad you’re not a window licker!” In a firm, but smartass voice. She was pretty cute too, she must have been 35 or so, tall and thin with a mean tan, almost like one of those girls you see working on a farm. Not overly pretty, but just a really cool down to earth person. I forgot her name I think it was maribel, something like that. She was one of my favorites. She was a latina woman, you could tell she had some traditions from the homeland installed in her. Because she really knew how to make me feel comfortable. When she would take care of me she would hum disney songs, in this sweet little voice. And she would almost dance around my room, as she was humming, giving me my medicines, and watching over me. I was even lucky enough to get a foot massage from her. That was awesome! I hadn’t left the bed in over a month, and it was just perfect timing. I really miss her, she went out of her way to take care of me. I can’t give enough to thank the nurses in my ICU unit. When you hear the expression, “nursed back to health” this is where it comes from. I even go back periodically and visit all of them, and man when I see the look on their faces I almost break out into tears, last time I went Sue had a big ‘ole smile on her face, gave me the biggest hug, and then almost ran off as if she had to cry. I stopped going as much though, because everytime I go they are really busy, and I feel like I get in the way and distract them from what they need to do their. For all the nurses out there especially ICU units. I had no idea how strong of individuals you are, to be able to this job must be absolutely mind numbing! I just wanted to give my thanks to all the nurses at the Los Robles ICU. I couldn’t have ever had a better experience and to this day I still miss every one of you!

I couldn’t have ever had a better experience and to this day I still miss every one of you!",
