| body | **[EN]** Hello RadioYo Community, Are you in New York City next week for BlockchainWeek 2018? We'll be there. If you are, let's get together to talk about what we've been working on, and share ideas. We hope to see you there! On the PR front, RadioYo Founder Steven Blinn was interview this past week by Author Matthew David for a book on Blockchain technology and RadioYo's platform. If you're a reporter, Podcaster or conference looking for a speaker/resource who can speak on blockchain technology, creating your own cryptocurrency, smart contracts and DApps or running a successful ICO, Steven Blinn is available. **1) RadioYo ICO Website** - check out the new design of our ICO website (https://rao.radioyo.fm) . We've improved the UI and refreshed the copy. **2) Infographic** - also as part of the ICO website redesign we added an infographic. The infographic explains the problems Podcasters face and how blockchain-based solutions like Smart Contracts, DApps and RadioYo's own cryptocurrency the RAO can solve those problems. **3) Exchange Listing** - it's still early in the process but we are currently in negotiations with multiple crypto exchanges to list our token, the RAO, at the conclusion of our ICO. Once we have made a decision on the Exchange we'll announce the news. **4) RadioYo Pilot** - in our last update we talked about embarking on the next phase of building out our blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform. As part of this build-out, we're looking for Podcasters who want to participate in a special pilot that will timestamp your podcast information to the blockchain. The response has been overwhelming and we'll notify the participants early next week. If you're one of those people who like waiting for the last minute and still want to participate email us your interest. **5) RadioYo User Group Volunteers** - If you still interested in shaping the future direction of RadioYo then we want to hear from you. RadioYo is assembling a User Group of eight volunteers who want to help shape what RadioYo should look like moving forward. Email us with your interest. **6) Board of Advisors** - we've started interviewing people for RadioYo's Board of Advisors. The Board will assist us as we transition from a traditional platform to a blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform for podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media, and online publishers. We're currently collecting names, gauging interest and interviewing. If you're interested or know of anyone who might be, have him or her get in touch with us. More soon, The RadioYo Team P.S. I would be remiss if I didn't remind you that time is running out to participate in our ICO where you can get RadioYo’s cryptocurrency the RAO. The window of opportunity is closing soon. To register visit https://rao.radioyo.fm. **[DE]** Hallo RadioYo Community, Sind Sie nächste Woche in New York für BlockchainWeek 2018? To register and participate visit https://rao.radioyo.fm. More than 150 people have signed up in the last week to either host their own free online radio show or broadcast pre recorded episodes using our platform. If you’re passionate about a topic whether it’s sports, religion or political affairs and don’t want to be silenced by political correctness then visit us at https://radioyo.fm. Recently The Securities and Exchange Commission last week charged two men with taking $32m from thousands of investors via an ICO. The co-founders allegedly raised the funds for a “fraudulent” start-up called Centra Tech, with the scheme touted on social media by celebrity champion boxer Floyd Mayweather and musician DJ Khaled. The reason we bring this bad news up is to make a point. You see RadioYo doesn’t have nor will have celebrities endorsing our ICO. All we have is a working platform with users, kick ass developers and the desire to see financial payments made via a smart contract to everyone involved in the making and recording of podcasts. Whether that’s a developer, podcaster, audio engineer or advertiser. We made it on Product Hunt. Check us out on Product Hunt, the place for product-loving enthusiasts to share and geek out about the latest mobile apps, websites, hardware projects, and tech creations. And don’t forget to UPVOTE us at https://www.producthunt.com/posts/radioyo If you haven’t visited our ICO FAQ recently we’ve updated some of our answers. Here’s one example: Q: Are RAOs Transferable and will RAO tokens be placed on any big exchange platforms? A: RAO is a utility token meant for use within RadioYo’s blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform. It will be transferable. We are in negotiations with various Exchanges about listing the RAO on their exchanges. As soon as we have more information, we’ll pass it along through our various social media channels. | body | Unless you've been hiding under a particularly large, hermetically sealed rock during the past year, the unprecedented drama concerning ICOs must have been painful to watch from behind that LCD screen. While everyone is still getting worked up about China's ban on them, South Korea's desperate attempts to and the United States' serious consideration of doing so, others are honestly worrying about the future. Are we witnessing the birth of a new, world-changing concept or one that will be forgotten by the end of the next decade? Will regulation doom this revolution before it can begin? Of course, nobody truly knows, and that is what makes this whole affair so exciting and full of potential; nevertheless, many who are involved, from software developers to investors, would tell you otherwise if you were to ask them. They'd say that ICOs—or rather the technology behind them—are just too precious and too useful just to lose and that the technology must be here to stay. However, you may ask: What are they really talking about when they say that? What exactly is that technology? The answer is smart contracts, people. Smart contracts: to most, the term sounds like a buzzword like 'blockchain' (and to most, it probably is), but there's more to it than that, obviously. There is much more. Let me tell you the story of how I learned about smart contracts and of how I'm using one to vastly improve RadioYo. First off, let's make some things clear. What can a smart contract actually do for you? At its core, it only does one thing: It automates the process of mediating a contract negotiation. It determines whether or not conditions that both parties agree on are met and processes the contract accordingly without any human intervention. Of course, in the context of ICOs, this contract would be financial in nature, and that is by far the biggest use for these wonderful lines of code. They're wonderful if they are coded properly, that is. This is where my story comes in. You see, if there's one thing to learn about undertaking an ICO and having a smart contract coded, it's getting everything right on the first try. You have to—once your smart contract is live, the merits and shortcomings of your design will reveal themselves, and there won't really be an easy way to edit anything once that's done. Sure, you can write a second smart contract to correct the errors, but that's costly. When I decided to go the ICO route for RadioYo, one of the biggest challenges I faced was making sure that the smart contract code was absolutely perfect before deciding to go live. I myself am no programmer. I couldn't tell C++ from HTML to be honest, but you don't have to when designing an ICO. It's all very simple, really. It's just Boolean thinking. That's it. If this, then that. Rinse and repeat for dozens of possible variables. Like I said, it's simple. It's too simple, actually, as it gets you to think there's always something wrong with what you've thought up, or your smart contract is ‘too easy' to finish. The developer you're working with means a lot here. The perfect candidate should be an absolute master, not just when it comes to coding, but also in the ways of your industry. He should be communicative and know how to express himself. He should know what he's doing and never feel the need to make compromises. Those are a lot of boxes to check, but consider this: The demand for blockchain talent is great. That means there are many people out there to work for you, and many of them will be amateurs. They're inexperienced, are probably looking for nothing more than quick cash, and have just started out with Solidity. Depending on your needs, that ‘just' can encompass anything from a few months to years of experience. This means they'll most likely have trouble bonding with the core philosophy of your business. Also, communication is going to be problematic at best. Something is not going to be quite right, and chances are you'll only notice it during the auditing phase after this developer has already left with a big green bundle in his or her hands and a smile on his or her face. How about an example from my own experience? Due to a simple, at first innocent language barrier, the first blockchain developer I hired to code RadioYo's smart contract ended up using code from a prior project of his instead of writing fresh code for RadioYo. After we launched RadioYo's ICO and our smart contract was live on Mainnet, we also found out that not all of our tokens were accounted for. Granted, we can fix that in the future with a second smart contract, but this could have been avoided if I had chosen a developer with whom I could properly communicate. Skype is OK, but a phone is better. If it was a lesson for me, it can be one for you, too. Learn from it! So, instead of going that route like me, you should look for the best of the best from the get-go. Remember, one mistake could cost you the stability of your entire ICO and doom your project permanently. The vast majority of ICOs that are currently in circulation—and there are tons of them—contain at least some major security flaws, and the vast majority of these can be traced back to poor smart contract coding. The result of these flaws can destroy an ICO's reputation, trustworthiness, and potential before any of those three things have had their chance to develop in the first place. Speaking of security, nothing could be more important to the mainstream user. Think about it: What could possibly set your ICO apart from the hundreds of others already flooding the market? That it's exclusive to your service or website? Oh, please. What users really want out of an ICO is dependability and maximum security. They're entrusting your creation with their money, after all. Think about every single detail. Not every flaw is tied to theft; there are other vulnerabilities too. What if your backend doesn't scale too well? That can turn out to be critical if enough transactions occur at the same time. What if gas prices are too high? Users will not want to spend that much in extra fees on every transaction. What about phishing? How will you protect against that? The truth is that there's an answer to all of these questions, and many more as well—if you know where to look. If a problem exists, someone, somewhere, has already thought of a fix, and if you're lucky, a solution already exists. This hunt to squish all of the bugs and remove every imperfection can quickly devolve into the ultimate game of ‘Do you know a guy?', but it doesn't have to. Again, if your developer(s) is made of the right stuff, there's nothing to worry about. Once your ICO goes live, there are still many things to do though. Remember, you are effectively in charge of an entire market. It is a very tiny market with a specialized appeal, for sure, but it's still a market. As such, you'll need to gauge things like coin supply efficiently—do you want to burn some tokens to hike prices up and appeal to new investors? Do you want to set a soft cap on the supply at all? How about mining? Yay or nay? These questions should, of course, be answered in the development phase, but post-release is where they and their answers actually become important. This is also the time where you won't stop hearing certain jargon terms like KYC and whitelisting. My head has already shattered into thousands of pieces from hearing these too much, but believe me, yours will, too, at some point. KYC, if you haven't heard of it before, is short for 'know your customer'. It's a general business term not directly tied to smart contracts in particular. Basically, it's what Google's been doing for the past few years and what everyone has been deriding it for since it began. It is what the common man will casually call 'spying' in conversation. In other words, it's collecting information about your users to make sure they can participate in your ICO. Your team, or at least someone in it, must possess the expertise to map out a strategy on this; otherwise, this whole ICO business could fail very quickly. If you don't KYC or whitelist, you might as well not try to ICO. One could write a whole book on what it takes to get a smart contract coded, but you know what? Let me keep myself a little short for once. Whenever I have screwed up, I have got back up again and learned from it. Does that mean you learn from your mistakes? If it doesn't, then I don't know what does. Does it mean you can only learn that way? I don't think so. So, having said that, what are you waiting for? Go out there and get your smart contract done! Your ICO won't create itself! (However, I'm sure that, at some point, someone is going to program something like that.) ### *RadioYo is building an open source blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform where developers, consumers, listeners, podcasters, service providers and advertisers can openly collaborate, track ownership of content or be rewarding for their efforts. "body": "Unless you've been hiding under a particularly large, hermetically sealed rock during the past year, the unprecedented drama concerning ICOs must have been painful to watch from behind that LCD screen.\n\nWhile everyone is still getting worked up about China's ban on them, South Korea's desperate attempts to and the United States' serious consideration of doing so, others are honestly worrying about the future.\n\nAre we witnessing the birth of a new, world-changing concept or one that will be forgotten by the end of the next decade? Will regulation doom this revolution before it can begin? Of course, nobody truly knows, and that is what makes this whole affair so exciting and full of potential; nevertheless, many who are involved, from software developers to investors, would tell you otherwise if you were to ask them.\n\nThey'd say that ICOs—or rather the technology behind them—are just too precious and too useful just to lose and that the technology must be here to stay.\n\nHowever, you may ask: What are they really talking about when they say that? What exactly is that technology?\n\nThe answer is smart contracts, people. Smart contracts: to most, the term sounds like a buzzword like 'blockchain' (and to most, it probably is), but there's more to it than that, obviously. There is much more. Let me tell you the story of how I learned about smart contracts and of how I'm using one to vastly improve RadioYo.\n\n\nFirst off, let's make some things clear. What can a smart contract actually do for you? At its core, it only does one thing: It automates the process of mediating a contract negotiation. It determines whether or not conditions that both parties agree on are met and processes the contract accordingly without any human intervention. Of course, in the context of ICOs, this contract would be financial in nature, and that is by far the biggest use for these wonderful lines of code.\n\nThey're wonderful if they are coded properly, that is.\n\nThis is where my story comes in. You see, if there's one thing to learn about undertaking an ICO and having a smart contract coded, it's getting everything right on the first try. You have to—once your smart contract is live, the merits and shortcomings of your design will reveal themselves, and there won't really be an easy way to edit anything once that's done. Sure, you can write a second smart contract to correct the errors, but that's costly.\n\nWhen I decided to go the ICO route for RadioYo, one of the biggest challenges I faced was making sure that the smart contract code was absolutely perfect before deciding to go live. I myself am no programmer. I couldn't tell C++ from HTML to be honest, but you don't have to when designing an ICO. It's all very simple, really. It's just Boolean thinking. That's it.\n\nIf this, then that. Rinse and repeat for dozens of possible variables. Like I said, it's simple. Skype is OK, but a phone is better.\n\nIf it was a lesson for me, it can be one for you, too. Learn from it!\n\nSo, instead of going that route like me, you should look for the best of the best from the get-go.\n\n\nRemember, one mistake could cost you the stability of your entire ICO and doom your project permanently. The vast majority of ICOs that are currently in circulation—and there are tons of them—contain at least some major security flaws, and the vast majority of these can be traced back to poor smart contract coding. The result of these flaws can destroy an ICO's reputation, trustworthiness, and potential before any of those three things have had their chance to develop in the first place.\n\nSpeaking of security, nothing could be more important to the mainstream user. Think about it: What could possibly set your ICO apart from the hundreds of others already flooding the market? That it's exclusive to your service or website? Oh, please. What users really want out of an ICO is dependability and maximum security. They're entrusting your creation with their money, after all. Think about every single detail.\n\nNot every flaw is tied to theft; there are other vulnerabilities too. Again, if your developer(s) is made of the right stuff, there's nothing to worry about.\n\nOnce your ICO goes live, there are still many things to do though. Yay or nay?\n\nThese questions should, of course, be answered in the development phase, but post-release is where they and their answers actually become important. This is also the time where you won't stop hearing certain jargon terms like KYC and whitelisting. My head has already shattered into thousands of pieces from hearing these too much, but believe me, yours will, too, at some point.\n\nKYC, if you haven't heard of it before, is short for 'know your customer'. If you don't KYC or whitelist, you might as well not try to ICO.\n\nOne could write a whole book on what it takes to get a smart contract coded, but you know what? Let me keep myself a little short for once. Whenever I have screwed up, I have got back up again and learned from it. Does that mean you learn from your mistakes? If it doesn't, then I don't know what does. Does it mean you can only learn that way? I don't think so. So, having said that, what are you waiting for? Go out there and get your smart contract done!\n\nYour ICO won't create itself! (However, I'm sure that, at some point, someone is going to program something like that.)\n\n###\n\n*RadioYo is building an open source blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform where developers, consumers, listeners, podcasters, service providers and advertisers can openly collaborate, track ownership of content or be rewarding for their efforts. With the RAO, a new cryptocurrency at its center, RadioYo is building out a new model that enriches and transforms the relationship with consumers such that they consume more flavors of content across various media and enjoy more experiences in the presence of our brand in the real world.*",

| body | RadioYo Launches $10M Initial Coin Offering (ICO) on March 1; Proceeds go toward adding podcaster ownership information directly onto the blockchain while building out current platform into a blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform for podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media, and online publishers New York, NY – February 22, 2018 – RadioYo, a platform for people to livestream free online radio shows and broadcast prerecorded podcast episodes, announced today the company’s crowdsale opens on March 1st at 6:00 am EST (11:00 AM UTC). RadioYo’s goal is $10,000,000. Once the $10,000,000 is reached the crowdsale ends. Participants must complete the registration process prior to the crowdsale by visiting https://rao.radioyo.fm and clicking on the “Register Now” button. An Ethereum wallet that supports the ERC-20 token standard is also a requirement. During the crowdsale tokens are available in 34 specified tiers. The minimum amount of RAO available is 500 and the maximum is 250,000. There are only 33 million RAO available during the crowdsale. ETH and BTC are accepted during the crowdsale. As a result, participants will need to provide their Ether wallet address during the registration process if they are participating with ETH. Any attempts to send ETH from a different address or directly from an exchange such as Coinbase, Kraken, Poloniex, etc. during the crowdsale will result in an inability to purchase RAO and participants ETH or BTC may be permanently lost. If a participant does not have an Ether wallet, they can generate one using MyEtherWallet, Mist or Jaxx but their ETH address must already be in or imported into Metamask prior to the ICO. Metamask is required as part of the crowdsale. “We are excited to bring our token the RAO to life, said Steven Blinn, RadioYo’s founder. “Our team has worked really hard and taken concrete steps to make our crowdsale all inclusive and accessible to everyone.” “For example, we’ve created 34 different tiers for people, made sure that no one person can hold more than 1 percent of RAO, turned away early investors wanting a lion’s share of RAO and decided against holding a pre-sale,” noted Blinn. “We feel in the long run our approach emphasizes the importance of building and nurturing a strong community of RAO contributors.” To live stream your own radio show or broadcast prerecorded podcast episodes using RadioYo’s platform, visit https://radioyo.fm To follow RadioYo's crowdsale, use the following links: Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/RadioYo/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/radioyofm Medium: https://medium.com/@RadioYoFM Slack: https://radioyo.slack.com Telegram: https://t.me/joinchat/AAAAAEMBG4bGWaQGuDkstg RadioYo Blog: https://radioyo.fm/blog/ Website: http://rao.radioyo.fm About RadioYo RadioYo is a platform for a new kind of conversation. | body | RadioYo Opens Registration for Initial Coin Offering (ICO); Proceeds go toward adding podcaster ownership information directly onto the blockchain while building out it’s current platform into a blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform for podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media, and online publishers New York, NY – January 17, 2018 – RadioYo, a platform for people to livestream free online radio shows and broadcast prerecorded podcast episodes, announced today registration for RadioYo's initial coin offering (ICO) has begun. People interested in participating in the crowdsale of RadioYo's token, the RAO, can register at https://rao.radioyo.fm/home/register. The ICO start date as well as other details will be announced in the coming weeks. RadioYo’s ICO goal is $10,000,000. Once the $10,000,000 is reached, the crowdsale ends. During the crowdsale, tokens are available in specified packages by dollar amount. Packages range from 500 and 250,000 tokens respectively, and crowdsale tokens have been capped at 33 million. Proceeds will go toward adding podcaster ownership information directly onto the blockchain while building out it’s current platform into a blockchain-based broadcasting and services platform for podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media, and online publishers worldwide. Currently, there are more than 1100 people registered on RadioYo and more than 400 shows have been created. Podcasting continues to be a growth medium, according to The 2017 Infinite Dial Study by Edison Research and Triton Digital, as 40% of Americans 12+ say they have ever listened to a podcast, while 24% say they have listened to one in the past month, up from 21% one year ago. In addition, six in ten Americans are now familiar with the term “podcasting,” a number that has risen 22% in two years. Steven Blinn, RadioYo's Founder, noted, "Podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media, and online publishers face a range of pressures every day. Funding, competition for listeners, press freedom, copyright infringement, and producing the most remarkable programming possible weigh on people's minds every day. RadioYo is laying the groundwork for a new age of ownership, tracking, content sharing, and creation that is engaging, sustainable, borderless, and fair to all stakeholders." RadioYo plans to grow the RAO by weaving it into the fabric of the company's platform. The RAO can be used to incentivize high quality content creation. Allow listeners to reward hosts, hosts to reward service providers and brands to reward listeners. "With the RAO, RadioYo is building out a new model that transforms the relationship consumers, content creators, developers, and service providers have with each other,” said Steven Blinn, founder RadioYo. "Instead of trying to profit by stealing a little bit of attention/ engagement through playing ads, or selling "hosting solutions," RadioYo sees the RAO as a way to reward ‘wanted' behavior and desired' features." Live streaming a show or podcast is easy. Making it a success is hard, and earning income is hard, really hard. RadioYo helps people create and grow their show, their way. RadioYo gets people on the air, helps them deliver their message, and is there for them every step of the way as they grow. Their success is our success.\n\nDisclaimer\nCitizens and residents of the United States are prohibited from participating. The Crowdsale of the RAO token is not the sale of a security. RadioYo will use the proceeds of the Crowdsale to advance the purposes outlined in its white paper. Virtual currency is not legal tender, is not backed by the government, and accounts and value balances are not subject to consumer protections. The information in this release does not constitute investment advice or an offer to sell or invest in securities. People who participate in RadioYo’s ICO should not have a reasonable expectation of any future profits or the RAO increasing in value based on RadioYo, Inc. creating an ecosystem and building out the company's platform.\n\n###",

| body | RadioYo is planning to build out a decentralized Ecosystem for podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media and online publishers worldwide, using blockchain technology and our own cryptocurrency, the RAO. People are currently using RadioYo to broadcast live online radio shows and broadcast prerecorded podcast episodes. As part of the Ecosystem content creators can register and license their content as a “programmed contract”directly to the “blockchain.” These contracts automate the collection and distribution of payments and remain in the control of the content creators. Users can access a global catalog of audio programs stored on RadioYo and can pay content creators directly using RadioYo’s digital currency (RAO). Easy to use services and products also make up the decentralized Ecosystem allowing for a seamless experience for consumers, and access to RadioYo APIs via a developer marketplace gives developers entre to build AI, apps, bots, feeds, and algorithms on top of the platform and earn money off of their work. Podcasters, online broadcasters, independent media and online publishers face a range of pressures every day. Funding, competition for listeners, press freedom, copyright infringement and producing the most remarkable programming possible weigh on people’s minds everyday. RadioYo is laying the groundwork for a new age of ownership, tracking, content sharing and creation that is engaging, sustainable, borderless, and fair to all stakeholders. RadioYo’s ICO White Paper is at http://rao.radioyo.fm. To live stream your own live online radio show or broadcast prerecorded podcast episodes visit https://radioyo.fm |
