| title | Star Wars, the Last Jedi...is it bad? Looking for reviews. Spoiler Alert. |
| body |

If you have not seen the movie and do not wish to read spoilers please do not read this thread.

Hi everyone, long time since I have been here. Sorry for my absence. I've noticed a ton of negative reviews on my youtube channel for the new Star Wars film. I wasn't very impressed with The Force Awakens but I did like Rogue One. I will see the new one when it comes out on DVD but I am wondering why this movie seems to polarized. The movie is still number 1 and has a lot of good reviews but youtube seems to hate it. What's your take on the movie and the fan response. If you have seen the movie you can post spoilers. Tell me what you think of the movie.

|

| title | What's Your Favorite Cookie? |
| body |

The cookie aisle! The glorious, packed filled with colorful packages, sweet, yummy goodness cookie aisle. Yesterday, I went to the store and found the cookie aisle has grown with all sorts of cookies. Oreo has yet another flavor, Blueberry Pie. I'm not sure about that one to be honest. All sorts of cookies danced before my eyes. Chocolate chip, dutch cocoa, sugar cookies, sandwich cookies, chewy cookies, spice cookies. My favorite cookies are Italian Assorted cookies but it's hard to find the brand I used to like. Stella D'oro at one point has an assorted cookie that was far superior to today's version. It had a mixture of chocolate, vanilla, frosted, sesame and a coconut cookie with sprinkles. My other favorites are thin mints and ginger snaps. Not the cheap ginger snaps...the ones with molasses. I prefer cookies with spices over chocolate or vanilla. A good lemon cookie also is preferable. I find some of the new flavors of cookies downright tasteless...literally...tasteless. Kind of like eating cardboard...Scooby Snacks for example.

Now, once you have a good cookie you also need a good drink to go with it. I tend to drink coffee with my cookies...I kind picked that habit up from my two pot of coffee a day grandmother. Milk just doesn't cut it for me and since I don't much milk I have grown less fond of the taste. Tea is okay, that will do in a pinch but nothing like a good ginger snap and cup of coffee even on a hot summer day.

So, as I write this I am eating a cookie...Ginger snap to be honest. But now I need my cup of coffee. So, what's you favorite cookie?

|

| title | Me, My Garden and Stumpy the Chipmunk |
| body |

The raised bed sits outside the kitchen window. It was a bit of an effort to build it with landscaping timbers and bag upon bag of soil. After a weekend of hard work it was ready for planting. It's a small raised bed, 8 foot long by 4 foot wide and sits right on the edge of a fence. Just perfect for a few extra seedlings that my mother had left over from her garden. With glee I planted the seedlings and watered them. It was a reach to get to the center for my old bones just don't seem to work as well; stretching and balancing myself on the timber as I worked. Finally the seedlings were in and all was well.

The next morning I discovered a few of seedlings were up rooted and one was downright missing. A series of holes were dug about my garden. I knew the culprit immediately for "Stumpy" the tailless chipmunk was seen at the bird feeder prior. The little bastard turned my garden into a chipmunk playground! This is war!

I tried to replant the seedling but only one took. I then got seeds to plant in the bed. I planted planted beans, tomatoes and I had a packet of onions but I could reach the area to plant the seeds the thus those seeds are still sealed. Stumpy returned and started digging around my seeds. I would shoo him away and he would return. I'm not sure of the gender for chipmunk all look alike and sexing a chipmunk is not a priority at this point. So, I will call Stumpy a "he" for the sake of argument.

The little bugger is destructive and yet creative at the same time. Small holes burrowed through the soil like a vast network of tunnels. I swear Stumpy is building a military grade bunker under there. He and his chipmunk troops are digging deep into the lose soil and erecting tiny bunkers strong enough to survive the next downpour. The troop if chipmunks work in tandem with look outs and chirps of warnings. I half expect to see tiny green helmets and pea size rifles slung across their fury backs as they dig into the garden's soil. One pops out and looks about before exposing himself to danger. He runs for the bird seed and gathers as much of the precious ammo in his fat, chubby cheeks as possible. Sometimes I wounder how he doesn't manage to not explode with a eruption of birdseed spewing from his jaw like Mount Saint Helen's erupting with unimaginable force.

Stumpy come to the bird feeder to reload many times. He sits there and looks in the window at me as he shoved birdseed in his cheeks. It's as if he is taunting me. Or maybe he's just making sure I'm still alive to give him free food? Either way me and Stumpy save the battle for yet another day.

|

\n
The next morning I discovered a few of seedlings were up rooted and one was downright missing. A series of holes were dug about my garden. I knew the culprit immediately for \"Stumpy\" the tailless chipmunk was seen at the bird feeder prior. The little bastard turned my garden into a chipmunk playground! This is war!
\n
I tried to replant the seedling but only one took. I then got seeds to plant in the bed. I planted planted beans, tomatoes and I had a packet of onions but I could reach the area to plant the seeds the thus those seeds are still sealed. Stumpy returned and started digging around my seeds. I would shoo him away and he would return. I'm not sure of the gender for chipmunk all look alike and sexing a chipmunk is not a priority at this point. So, I will call Stumpy a \"he\" for the sake of argument.
\n
The little bugger is destructive and yet creative at the same time. | title | So, You Want To Be a SJW! (Social Justice Warrior) |
| body |

Advocacy is a grand thing! It can be the difference between a meager existence and a full life for many people. Advocacy, when done right can open doors to new opportunities for those who otherwise would be denied. Most who need an advocate simply want the means to succeed at their dreams. People in wheelchairs and who have mobility issues advocated for handicap accessibility and that that has been major benefit for people of all walks of life. Without such advocacy we would still be facing a world where people with mobility issues would be prevented from preforming daily tasks, shopping and going to work.

Today's social justice warriors doesn't seem to understand what advocacy truly is and how it it can be effective. They seem to be at a loss when it comes to differentiating between what is a cause and what is a want. A cause has a legitimate core, like accessibility to the community for disabled. People must be able to access the community and society at large to function in society. Demanding everyone use non conforming pronouns for genders, demanding a tax payers fund special programs without the ability for tax payers to vote on those programs, demanding white people pay for slavery which ended 150 years ago and most whites did not even own slaves, demanding more government control over our lives and rights, demanding other watch what they say for it may hurt someone's feelings is frankly not advocacy. A war on words and thoughts in not advocacy. A demand that our election system is overturned because you do not like who was elected is not advocacy. Crying and screaming at someone because they disagree with you is not advocacy. Burning the national flag is not advocacy. Calling everyone names, punching people at political rallies, dressing up in black and covering your faces is not advocacy.

No, what we have today is what can only be described as a conniption fit!! Advocacy has a clear stated goal and a plan to achieve the stated goal through legal courses and means that will ensure the support of the people.

SJW are not advocates. There is no real goal, no true intent other than chaos. What will happen and is happening now is simple alienation and people will simply not support any goal no matter how noble and just it may be in your own opinion. To be an advocate is not the same as a SJW. You cannot pick and choose what part of your advocacy you will promote and what to deny. You cannot claim Black Lives Matter but only advocate when a police officer is in question of doing to aggression and criminal gangs who are responsible for more black deaths than officers are ignored. You cannot pick when a life matters! By doing so you undermine the lives of those you wish to protect.

Advocacy is an old and proven means to get needed change for the better of society. But it fails if you feel the need to burn society down to achieve those goals. Riots and looting are the opposite of advocacy. Paying people to protest political events is also not advocacy for you have no true support and are forced to rely on paid actors to attempt to get a message across. Once you pay someone you are now employing them and free speech is not protected for employed protesters.

So, SJW friends, please be advocates and put down your fist and raise your pen.

|

| body |

The year was 1990 and my great Aunt Ethel, who was often loving referred to as Aunt Clarabell after Clarabell the Clown due to her inability to remain quiet and keep her opinions to herself, had just passed away. I being 19 years old was elected by my parents, well...more like drafted...to go down to Florida and bring my grandmother back to NY State. After a 36 hour train ride in coach down, because my mother had a fear of flying that she projected onto my young self, I arrived in Florida exhausted, tired and in need of a shower.

I arrived at the house and on the outside it looked like very normal home. It was a single level ranch with an attached garage. It had three bedrooms and two bathes and was in a nice neighborhood. At first it looked heaven to me for it was in nice shape and pleasing to the eyes. But something was strange about that house. At first I assumed it was a plumbing issue for as I finished taking a shower when I heard strange noises coming from the walls. The second bathroom was right next to the guest room that I was given to stay in as I helped my grandmother pack for her sister's home was to be sold.

As time went by more odd things occurred in that strange house. I would often get raps on the walls behind me. Every morning after taking a shower and hearing the raps on the walls then I would go into my room and close the door. I would then hear the doorknob jiggle every single morning. I quickly turn around, still with a towel wrapped around me and open the door but no one was there. One morning I did my routine, closed the door and simply turned around and stared at the doorknob. It wiggled back and forth on its own before me. I opened the door and again no one was there.

The activity increased the longer I was there. I stayed two months in total before leaving. The wraps on the walls increased, the doorknobs jiggled and then footsteps were heard pacing the hall at night as I slept. I slept with the door open for my grandmother was just across the hall and she heard nothing. Nothing happened to her, just me!

The home housed two special clocks; one a grandfather clock and the other a cuckoo clock. Ironically, both clocks stopped one hour to the minute apart and my grandmother had trouble getting the clocks to start again. I didn't think much of it at the time. I guess the message was "Times Up" for that night the footsteps came into my room as I tried to sleep. I never felt such heaviness in the air before or since. It was if someone was standing and staring at me. Suddenly the pillow sank beneath my head as if someone had punched it with their fist. I opened my eyes and no one was there. I got up and left the room and slept my grandmother that night. Her room didn't have heaviness to it and I felt safer.

The next morning she called her other sister, Grace who lived in California and told her what happened. Grace said not to worry about it and she would take care of it. After the call the activity decreased but I still got the raps on the wall and the footsteps in the hall. I don't know if Grace had some connection to the entity, some kind of power over it or if perhaps it simply failed to scare me away.

I normally do not get scared and I have never felt the need to sleep with another person for protection before or since that night. Yes, this story is a bit anti-climatic but it's a true story and I am simply reporting it to you. My conclusions is yes, there is an afterlife. Yes, there are things we cannot explain and I do believe we are never alone. I often feel a presence with me, a warm and loving presence. I had that feeling since I was a child. Perhaps, that also saved me from what could have been an attack. I'm not big on religion and I don't go to church but I could never forgo someone else's faith when I have to admit there are many things I simply I do not understand.

|

| title | Ahoy There! |
| body |

I would like to say hello and introduce myself to the Steemit community. I live in NY state, near the great lake of Ontario. I am a stay at home mom and take care of my daughter who is disabled. My hobbies are writing, photography, target shooting, cooking, and collecting. I am battling glaucoma currently and I'm not very good with computers. I'm still on steemit learning curve. I am currently posting a book I wrote years ago if you would like to follow it. It's fiction and based in WWII about a female pilot who sneaks into the USAF and ends up a navigator on a B-17. It's called the General's daughter, Blondie's Boys. (Blondie's Boys is the name of the B-17) I did a lot of research for the story and tried to keep it accurate for the time. Currently, I dabble in some fan fiction for Star Gate in my spare time. Thank you for reading this and I hope to make new friends.

|
