bodyFear and faith are opposites. They are opposing driving feelings. The largest obstacle to success wether in relationships or business is fear. I have seen it several times with loved ones. If a job is available in another city and people are afraid what could happen because it is in another city or state could be holding them back from great success. Fear of getting hurt stops relationships from developing. One must look past the fear. A little fear is good it will save your life. To much fear will destroy it. One needs to have the opposite to succeed. One needs to have faith. Faith allows a person to grow. In Joshua 1:7-9 we are told by the Almighty to not have fear because the Almighty is with us. We need to do what Steve Harvey says, which is that we need to jump and trust in G-d when we jump. Everything will be fine. Be fearless and filled with faith.

bodyOne Father two faiths I sat one day with an Iraqi friend of mine while I was trying to learn Arabic. I was amazing to find out how many things both Judaism and Islam have in common. One of the strongest connections between the two faiths is the link to Avraham as the Jews call him or Ibrahim as they say in Arabic, here in the western world we refer to him as Abraham and he is the father of many nations, and many faiths. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim a deep connection to this man. In the case of the Jews and Arabs both can trace their lineage to Avraham. That is not to say that all Muslims are direct descendents of Avraham but the Arab people are direct descendents. There is a lot of people out there that think that all Arabs are Muslims and all Muslims are Arabs. This simple is not the fact. Arabs are a genetic race of people and Muslims are practitioners of a religion and seeks to gain converts. The second strongest connection between Judaism and Islam is that of the language. Both religions stress the importance of language. To the Jew the Hebrew language is the language of the Almighty the very language of creation. So to the strict observer of the faith all prayers are said in Hebrew. In Islam, the language of the Quran is Arabic, and it is the language of the prophet that guides their faith. Therefore, the observant say their prayers in Arabic. Another strong connection is circumcision. The story goes that the Almighty command Avraham to circumcise himself when he was an old man. Avraham was also commanded to circumcise all the males that were with him. At this point of time Ishmael one of the fathers of the Arabs and the oldest son of Avraham was circumcised at the age of 13 years old. At the time of the commandment the Almighty commanded that the newborns would be circumcised on the eighth day. This is a son between the Almighty and Avraham. In both faiths, Jews and Muslims are circumcised on the eighth day. Some sects of Islam that are mystical require that the boys be circumcised at the age of 13 because that was the age of Ishmael when he was circumcised. Both faiths require that men that convert to the faith have a circumcision. In Islam a testimony to this is sufficient however in Judaism it has to be done with witnesses. Also in Judaism if the man was already circumcised when he came to convert than he would have a pinprick and draw out some blood and say some prayers, this is referred to as a Brit Dam Tafas. Another aspect of faith that is so strong is the dietary rules and regulations that they share. The Jewish system is called Kashrut, and is often referred to as keeping Kosher. The Muslim dietary system is called Hallal. There are a list of what animals are allowed to be consumed and those that are not allowed to be consumed. The list is pretty similar, however the Muslim list allows for the eating of Shrimp and the Jewish system does not. There has to be special supervision in the slaughtering of the animal, certain prayers said. In Judaism the blood of the animal has be completely drained and salted to draw out the blood. Both religious are religious centered in Law. The true essence of a rabbi is one that is a religious Jewish Lawyer. The rabbi is mainly taught the laws of Prayer, then the Laws of Kashrut (Dietary), then the Laws of Sabbath, then the laws of several other topics. It is rare to find a Rabbi that knows the laws of all the different topics. They specialize in different aspects of the law. The law has its foundation on the Biblical Laws and then they are extended to the Rabbinical Laws and modern day rulings. Oftentimes people go to a Rabbi because they have questions about how to follow the law. Islam has a legal system as well. Their version of a religious legal system is called Sharia Law. The religious leader for Muslims is an Imam, and the Imam serves a similar purpose for the Muslims on interpretation of the law just like the Rabbi does for the Jewish people. One example of law that is almost identical in both Judaism and Islam is that of the Ketubah (Jewish pronunciation). It is a religious document and legal document. This document is a marriage contract. It is signed by the groom before every wedding. It stipulates the responsibilities of the groom, and it is a declaration about the two that are getting married. I do not know about Islam, but in Judaism it serves as a protection to the wife. This is a contract that stipulates what the Jewish man would have to pay to the wife if he desired to get a divorce. This document is connected with the Dowry in some communities and in others it is connected with the Bride price. This document testifies if the girl is a virgin, divorcee, or a widow. In Judaism it also testifies if the bride or groom of the Levi tribe or the Cohen family. These to faiths are not just about the legalities. The legalities only give a framework for the house. The spirit has to fill the house. This spirit is the thing that attracts the converts; it is what uplifts the desire of the one born into the faith. As such they are several spiritual and philosophical beliefs. This is where the differences start to manifest themselves between Judaism and Islam. What are the concepts that cannot be seen, the concepts that are not tangible, what lie beyond this world? How many worlds are there? What happens to the soul when it dies? In both religions it is common to wash oneself before prayer. They both use prayer books and say prayers in a specific language. There is a set order to the prayers. Just as there are simple concepts like how to prayer there are deep mysteries and mysticism that they still have in common. One mystical idea is that of the seven heavens. The seven heavens in Judaism are: 1) Vilon, 2) Raki'a, 3) Shehaqim, 4) Zebul, 5) Ma'on, 6) Machon, and 7) Araboth which is the seventh heaven which is HaShem's domain. Then Earth is an 8th domain. The seven heavens in Islam are; 1) Firdaus (the highest), 2)‘Adn, 3) Na’iim, 4) Na’wam, 5) Darussalaam, 6) Daarul Muaqaamah, 7) Al-Muqqamul Amin, and then Khuldi (the lowest) domain. So in both that makes seven heavens and one earth. So the question is why is there some many problems between Judaism and Islam. Often they are referred to as cousins. The problems seem like there is a rivalry that only comes from two competing brothers. We should focus on the similarities and put aside the fighting. The fighting that takes place is nothing to do with religion. The conflicts that arise have to do with politics and history, and the ignorance of man. It is written in Genesis that Avraham sent Ishmael and Hagar out of his presence. In Judaism we know that Avraham loved Ishmael. This was a test from HaShem (G-d) on Avraham. A lot of people stop the story there. However, one should continue to read Genesis. In Genesis 21:18 it says, "Arise, lift up the youth and grasp your hand upon him, for I will make a great nation of him." In other words, G-d has a specific blessing for the sons of Ishmael just as he does for the Jewish people. Remember the Almighty spoke to Avraham, the father of both nations. Genesis 25;9 says, "His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre. " This is the lesson it teaches me, if Isaac and Ishmael were reconciled in the book of Genesis, then why do their descendents continue to have problems with each other. Our fathers reconciled we should to. However, there is also a reality, this probably will not happen until the Messiah comes and sets the three great monotheistic religions as what he desires.

In Judaism it also testifies if the bride or groom of the Levi tribe or the Cohen family.\n \nThese to faiths are not just about the legalities. What happens to the soul when it dies?\n \nIn both religions it is common to wash oneself before prayer. They both use prayer books and say prayers in a specific language. There is a set order to the prayers. Just as there are simple concepts like how to prayer there are deep mysteries and mysticism that they still have in common. One mystical idea is that of the seven heavens.\n \nThe seven heavens in Judaism are: 1) Vilon, 2) Raki'a, 3) Shehaqim, 4) Zebul, 5) Ma'on, 6) Machon, and 7) Araboth which is the seventh heaven which is HaShem's domain. Then Earth is an 8th domain.\nThe seven heavens in Islam are; 1) Firdaus (the highest), 2)‘Adn, 3) Na’iim, 4) Na’wam, 5) Darussalaam, 6) Daarul Muaqaamah, 7) Al-Muqqamul Amin, and then Khuldi (the lowest) domain. So in both that makes seven heavens and one earth. \n \nSo the question is why is there some many problems between Judaism and Islam. Often they are referred to as cousins. The problems seem like there is a rivalry that only comes from two competing brothers. We should focus on the similarities and put aside the fighting. The fighting that takes place is nothing to do with religion. The conflicts that arise have to do with politics and history, and the ignorance of man.\n \nIt is written in Genesis that Avraham sent Ishmael and Hagar out of his presence. In Judaism we know that Avraham loved Ishmael. This was a test from HaShem (G-d) on Avraham. A lot of people stop the story there. However, one should continue to read Genesis. In Genesis 21:18 it says, \"Arise, lift up the youth and grasp your hand upon him, for I will make a great nation of him.\" In other words, G-d has a specific blessing for the sons of Ishmael just as he does for the Jewish people. Remember the Almighty spoke to Avraham, the father of both nations. Genesis 25;9 says, \"His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre. \" This is the lesson it teaches me, if Isaac and Ishmael were reconciled in the book of Genesis, then why do their descendents continue to have problems with each other. Our fathers reconciled we should to. However, there is also a reality, this probably will not happen until the Messiah comes and sets the three great monotheistic religions as what he desires.",

bodyIn order to understand Jewish scriptures one must truly understand the Jewish Logic behind the writing of those scriptures. However, this is a difficult concept because logic is so ingrained in a culture from a very young age and often times individuals have a biased against any other form of logic. This article will attempt to view the different types of logic and address some of the reasoning that exists in Jewish Logic and Philosophy. Comparison of three types of logic, 1) Western logic – this is also known as step logic, and this is the logic that most of the western world uses, especially English speakers. This logic is lineal. Step A exists and then Step B exists and then to arrive at Step C one has to use Step A and Step B. There is no step C without step A & B. This can also be understood at deductive reasoning. There is also another type of reasoning called inductive reasoning, and this is the when an individual generalizes from the observations they have. Both are directional. According to Western Philosophy they hold that circular reasoning is a logical fallacy. 2) Circular Reason - In this form of reasoning the proposition that needs to be proved is assumed or explicitly in one of the premises. This can also be referred to as begging the question. If A is C, and B is C, then A is B. Although, this seems like a simple mathematical proof it does not work outside the bounds of simplistic mathematics. In other words if John is a Soldier, and Mike is a Soldier, then this would say that John is Mike, and this just is not the case. 3) Jewish logic - Block Logic is a unique Jewish philosophical system. In Jewish logic we say at the G-d is all Merciful, and we say that G-d is full of judgment. Both seem to be at odds with each other. How can two opposing things be correct, both cannot be correct? Individually each premise is believed to be correct. How can something be full of Mercy and be able to have anything else with it. It is full. A cup can only hold so much and if it is full of water then milk cannot be in it. Block logic gives a solution to this problem. If we view that G-d is Merciful as a block of logic, say block A, and that G-d is full of judgment, say this is block B, then we have to find a third block of logic that can reconcile the other previously established blocks of logic. The third block of logic in this case would be that G-d is Almighty. Example of Jewish Logic: Free Will vs. Predestination It is taught in Judaism that man has free will and it is taught that man is predestined and all things are written. Certain things will take place in our lives and we have no choice at all. The first block of logic would be that of free will and the second block of logic would be predestination. Can you think of a possible third block of logic? The third block of logic that I propose is that G-d stands out of Space and Time. We have absolute free will and can make all the choices that we need to on a daily basis. However, G-d knows ahead of time what we would chose because he has already seen what we have chosen. Therefore, it is predestined. In fact I would as far as to say that one is dependent on the other. Just a light is dependent on darkness. What is the definition of dark? Is it not the lack of light? Both have to exist because both define each other. I once heard that a definition is not what says what an object is, but what an object is not. Block logic is but one form of logic, there are several more forms. However, block logic is essential in understanding Jewish Logic. The introduction to the Sifra says that there are 13 rules of Torah elucidation. It is extremely detailed however the 13 rules are used for exegesis (Midrash). In order to understand the writings of a people one must understand the language, culture and philosophy. How can a modern Japanese man understand Shakespeare if he does not learn of the language, the culture, the idioms and phrase that Shakespeare relies upon. In the same vein of understanding how could we understand the Jewish faith through the ages if we do not understand the Jewish people who have taken great pains to preserve i

bodyFrom the time that HaShem spoke the world into existence in the very first passages of the Torah, there has been a connection between the spiritual and the physical. Specifically in relationship to the man we see that HaShem formed man from the earth which is physical and then breathed life into man. (Genesis 2:7) We have a spiritual and physical connectivity. We are able to see that every physical thing has a connection in the spiritual first. Therefore, a fight is something that takes place on a spiritual level before it takes place on a physical level. In Genesis chapter 32 we see Jacob wrestling with an individual. However, before we go there let’s get a recap. Earlier in Genesis, we see that Jacob fled from his brother Esau. Now after several years of living with Laban and getting married to Rachel and Leah, he is now returning home to the land that HaShem has called him to. Now let’s set the stage for the story. In verse 32:4, “Then Jacob sent angels ahead of him to Esau his brother to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.” This opens up a unique understanding. Jacob sent the angels. Let’s think about this sentence. How can he send angels? They are spiritual, not physical. He was tapping into a spiritual realm at this point. In addition, the scripture states why he sent the angels. Jacob sent the angels to in order to find favor in the eyes of Esau. We learn that before there was a physical fight there was a spiritual diplomacy that took place. However, it was not received. In verse 7, we are told that the angels returned and informed Jacob that Esau was on his way to with four hundred men. Let’s take a sidenote for a moment. In the ancient world, there are guardian angels over each nation. The guardian angel of Israel is Michael and the guardian angel of Esau or Edom is Samael. These names are very significant. The meaning of the name Michael is “Who is like God”, and for Samael, it is “Poison of God”. This might sound strange so just put it up on the shelf for now and we will come back to it. In verse 8-9, we see that before entering battle we have to make our physical preparations. We are shown that he divided the people and life stock. Then in verse 10, Jacob then prays to HaShem, “Then Jacob said, ‘God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac” Jacob is making his spiritual preparations. In verse 14, Jacob prepares a tribute for his brother. At this point in the story, we see the place for diplomacy before warfare. In verses 25-31, the scripture states, “Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until the break of dawn. When he perceived that he could not overcome him, he struck the socket of his hip; so Jacob’s hip-socket was dislocated as he wrestled with him. Then he said, ‘Let me go, for the dawn has broken.’ And he said, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’ He said to him, ‘What is your name?’ He replied, ‘Jacob’. He said, ‘No longer will it be said that your name is Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with the Divine and with man and have overcome.’ Then Jacob inquired, and he said, ‘Divulge if you please your name.’ And he said, ‘Why then you inquire of my name?’ and he blessed him there.” What is going on here with this individual that Jacob is wrestling with? In verse 25 we are told that this individual is a man. We are left with a lot of questions? Was this a dream? Was this really a man? I believe that it was an angel that was in the form of a man. In verse 31, Jacob names the place Peniel. Many people make a mistake and try to say that he wrestled with God. They think that because the name Israel is often translated as “Wrestles with God”, however, this is slightly wrong. The word “El” does not mean God. It can is some situations. However, it more accurately means a supernatural power. We say it before the Amidah, in the Mi Kamocha. Therefore, we see that Jacob did not wrestle with God. He wrestled with an angel. What is another proof for this statement? If we look at verse 27, it states in Hebrew the words, “Alah HaShachar” which is translated as “the Dawn has broken”, this is very significant. This is the time of the day were the angels give praise and worship to HaShem. It is a very special time of prayer and the very righteous get up very early to pray their morning prayers at this break of dawn. This is pray is called Netz. Is that the end of the story? Not quite yet. Genesis 33:4 it says, “Esau ran toward him, embraced him, fell upon his neck, and kissed him.” There is a double meaning to the words and fell upon his neck. I was once taught that this meant that Esau tried to kill Jacob at that moment. However, once he had him in that embrace he could have bitten him instead of kissed him, after all in Hebrew it is the same word. According to Rashi who was quoting Simon Bar Yochai, it was at this very moment that Esau’s heart towards his brother changed. Why is that? Well, if you remember earlier I said that there was the guardian angel over Esau/Edom which has the name Samael. It is the angel that provokes Esau/Edom against Israel. However, in chapter 32 we see that Jacob had wrestled this angel and had made a change in the spiritual realm that affected the physical once he did that. You might say, Rabbi, how you know that was the angel that Jacob wrestled. This is how I know that it was the angel that Jacob wrestled. In verse 33:10 it says, “But Jacob said, ‘No, I beg of you! If I have now found favor in your eyes then accept my tribute from me, inasmuch as I have seen your face, which is like seeing the face of a Divine being, and you were appeased by me…’” Surely Jacob was not saying that Esau was divine. He was making a reference to the national angel over Esau/Edom which is Samael. So we see how spiritual warfare and physical warfare are connected. We see how we much wrestle through our prayers, thoughts, or dreams to have physical victory. One is not by itself, the spiritual and the physical are uniquely intertwined and if we take the time and fight spiritual through prayer, fasting and meditating then we might be able to avert the physical fight from every happening.

If I have now found favor in your eyes then accept my tribute from me, inasmuch as I have seen your face, which is like seeing the face of a Divine being, and you were appeased by me…’” Surely Jacob was not saying that Esau was divine. He was making a reference to the national angel over Esau/Edom which is Samael.\n \nSo we see how spiritual warfare and physical warfare are connected. We see how we much wrestle through our prayers, thoughts, or dreams to have physical victory. One is not by itself, the spiritual and the physical are uniquely intertwined and if we take the time and fight spiritual through prayer, fasting and meditating then we might be able to avert the physical fight from every happening.",

bodyThe words of scripture start off with some of the many st powerful words ever written. “In the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth.” Everything that follows depends and relies on this statement. All of morality is traced back to it just as all law and order. G-d is the creator of order. The almighty Creator is King of all. Everything is in the domain of the Creator. This opening sentence gives the ultimate perspective. I am here because G-d made me. I am the handiwork of G-d. Therefore, I have purpose. Everything in the universe serves a purpose. Mankind is the pinnacle of creation. How wonderful and awe inspiring is that when you think of it. Take a few moments and contemplate the opening sentence of scripture. I find it a shame that so many believers in G-d just gloss over this first sentence. Contemplate it, let it sink in. The first couple of chapters of Genesis is filled with rich insight. So get this one down and move to the next. Ponder the words over and over and you will start to see how deep the passage is. I love it!

bodyIt is important to wake up every day and say what your are grateful for. This helps to create a positive atmosphere for the day. On a mystical level it allows blessings to flow from the higher planes. Positivity attracts positivity. It is easy to see that no one wants to deal with negativity in the work place. So just a little practice when you wake up is to say words of gratitude. In the ancient Hebrew tradition a prayer called the Modeh is recited, it goes as follows: I grateful thank before you oh living and established. That you have restored my soul with mercy. Great is your faithfulness. Now this is important. I did not say great is my faithfulness. I am speaking to the Creator and saying to the Creator that His faithfulness is great.

The hard times distract us. However, we should look at the hard times as birth pains. No matter what we go through we need to keep focused that there is something good that can come out of it. Often times change is hard to deal with it. However, if you fight against it, it is like swimming upstream. Birthing pains bring for blessings. There has to be rain before crops. Don’t be distressed over the weather. To everything there is a season.

bodyWith great risk comes great reward. Cryptos broken on the scene back in 2008 roughly. This was do to the financial meltdown of the banks. Multiple reasons caused this to happen. The end result was there was bailouts by the federal government. What did this accomplish? It devalued our currency. People are tired of the devaluation of currency with the raising inflation. This causes a person to work harder for less. Crypto currency is the future. However, not really as a currency. It appears to me that it is turning out to be a way for venture capitalists to invest in the tech industry. So how do we limit our risk? Let’s explore the spectrum. On one end is gambling and the other investments like long term bonds. Lottery ticks and slot machines are straight up gambling. However, a professional poker play is limiting his risk. He knows his math, what cards are played, possible hands, how to read the other players. Risk is still there but not as much as a common person that just sat down at the table. To eliminate the risk of crypto, one should put money in around 10 different altcoins that are under $1. One of the ten is bounded to go up. One should read the white paper and study up on the project. There is risk but there is also reward.

bodyThere are three words in the Hebrew language for creation. The first word is the word “Bara”, and this is a very significant word in the Hebrew language. It only appears a few times. This word means “Creation Ex-nihilo”, which is to say that it means “Creation out of nothing”, this concept is hard to explain since it is really impossible for mankind to grasp the understanding of nothing, to begin with. Nothing means just that No Thing. This is used in the very first passage of scripture; one of my favorite passages because one can study this passage for eternity and still probably not grasps the depth to the passage. “In the beginning, God’s created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) This is the highest level of creation. This is a form that no man can do. Everything piece of man’s creating is just taking things that have already been creating and adapting them or changing them. Only God Almighty has the true power to create Ex-nihilo, on God Almighty can create using the word Bara. “I am the One, Who forms light and creates darkness; Who makes peace and creates evil; I am HaShem, Maker of all these.” (Isaiah 45:7, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) The second word for create is the word “Yotzer” and this means to form something. This can be seen when a person takes a block of wood or stone and chisels away at it. Eventually, what was seen in the mind of the artist, the object will become. This type of creation is also seen in the potter making the jars of clay. So let’s take a look at the passage from Isaiah 45:7 again, the verb for connected with light is to form, in Hebrew that is Yotzer. The verb used with the word darkness is Create, in Hebrew that is Bara. Therefore, we see that darkness is an Ex-nihilo creation. Then from the darkness, God begins to form the light. Part of training to be a Soldier includes the use of night observation devices (NODs). This allows the Soldier to see the infrared body heat of the enemy Soldiers hopefully before the Soldier is detected by the enemy. No, they only work in the darkness. Anyone that ever wore a pair can testify to how they work. Visible light is a wavelength and our eyes can only pick up certain wavelengths. Anything outside of the wavelength is in the darkness. We can only see the visual light piece of the electromagnetic spectrum. So we see that God created the overall darkness Ex-Nihilo and allows us to see the light which the Almighty forms from the darkness. We can now see that the second form of creation, that Yotzer form, is exactly that. It is to form from something already in existence. “Can I not do to you, O house of Israel, what this potter does? - the word of HaShem. Behold, just a clay is in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand, O House of Israel.” (Jeremiah 18:6, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) God is the potter and we are the clay. God Almighty can take us and make us into whatever God desires. The third type of creation means “to make something”, the Hebrew verb is “Asah”. It is like the carpenter that makes a table. There are several different types of materials that can be used in the process. The table is not brought into existence Ex-Nihilo, it is not formed or shaped out of one substance. This is where man has his creative powers reside for the most part. Occasionally, with the poetic, or artist man’s creativity can be realized with the concept of Yotzer but most of the time man is held in the realm of Asah. The man is a created being. There are two parts to man. One is physical and one is spiritual. We see that God formed the body of a man. One part is the physical body. As we can see in the scripture God Yotzer (formed) us like a potter with clay. “And HaShem God formed the man of dust from the ground, and He blew into his nostrils the soul of life, and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) The man is also a spiritual being. We can see this from scripture in Genesis as well. That man was created and in Hebrew, the word that is used is “Bara”, that type of creation which is Ex-Nihilo. This soul which God breathed into Adam in Genesis 2:7 was made before the body was made. “So God created Man in His image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) The question that a person must ask is “Are you a body that develops a soul?” or a “soul which a body was made for”?. How a person answers this question helps determine how a person truly sees themselves. If a person is a body that just so happened to develop a soul than one might feel as if they never developed a soul, or that only a person of deep spirituality is able to develop a soul. Whereas, the individual that answers the question with the statement that the body was created to house the eternal soul, then what follows is that the individual has a sense that they were created for a purpose and that each individual around them has been given a purpose by the Divine Creator, God Almighty. It is no coincidence that God placed the Ex-Nihilo creation of man, both the male and female verse in chapter one, and then placed the physical creation of man in chapter two and shows how the man was created from the ground and then that soul made in chapter one was breathed into a man in chapter two. The same for the female, she was made physical in a different manner than man to show that she is different than a man. However, the soul of her was made at the same time as will the man’s soul in chapter one. “So HaShem God cast a deep sleep upon the man and he slept, and He took one of his sides and He filled in flesh in its place. Then HaShem God fashioned the side the side He had taken from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And the man said, ‘This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This shall be called Woman, for from man was she taken.’ Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:21-24, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) We see that God created the soul which is eternal and then he created the body to clothe the soul which is pure. Each and every time when we feel that we are not worthy for whatever purpose, or anytime we feel that life is overwhelming to us. It is important for us to know that God has created us with a purpose. There are three ways in which we can remind ourselves of this love from God. The first way is that whenever you are down, depressed or struggling, just look at your fingertips. I learned this from Rabbi Daniel Lapin from one of his interviews, and I paraphrase, there is no one else in this world that has the same fingerprints that you have not even identical twins have the same set of fingerprints. The fingerprint is a physical manifestation of a spiritual being. The reason why the fingerprint is the spot for this is because man creates with his hands, and God wants to show us that we have a place in creation to create, not Ex-Nihilo, but to form and to make. The second way is to look in front of a mirror and look into your eyes. In security, there is a concept of biometrics. Just as there is no one else with your same fingerprints, this is true for the eyes. The eyes are a physical manifestation of a spiritual being behind the eyes. This is probably the reason for the statement that “The eyes are the windows to the soul”. “HaShem God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, to work it and to guard it.” (Genesis 2:15, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016). From this verse, I have a bit of depth to share with you. Notice the phrase “The Garden of Eden”, this is significant to the eye. The phrase in Hebrew is “Be’Gan Eden”, and from exegesis, we can see that the first letter with “Be” means “in”, and that is connected to the word “Gan” means garden. Now the word “Eden” starts with the letter “Ayin” which also means “Eye”. The second part of the word “Eden” means judgment. So we see that “Eden” means in “Eye of Judgement”, So God placed Adam “Be’Gan Eden”, and we see that God was watching Adam in the garden to test Adam’s obedience. God’s eyes are always on us. So this leads us to the third way, where we need to balance ourselves. The third way is a tradition in Judaism. A person can carry two pieces of paper, one for each pocket. Written on one piece of paper is something like “God created the world for me”, and the second piece of paper should say something like, “From ashes to ashes, dust to dust, thus a man returns to dust.” This way a person can always keep in mind that God loves them and that they have a purpose and mission in life, but to not get arrogant about their position in this world and to remain humble.

"body": "There are three words in the Hebrew language for creation. This is used in the very first passage of scripture; one of my favorite passages because one can study this passage for eternity and still probably not grasps the depth to the passage.\n \n“In the beginning, God’s created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)\n \nThis is the highest level of creation. This is a form that no man can do. Everything piece of man’s creating is just taking things that have already been creating and adapting them or changing them. Only God Almighty has the true power to create Ex-nihilo, on God Almighty can create using the word Bara. \n \n“I am the One, Who forms light and creates darkness; Who makes peace and creates evil; I am HaShem, Maker of all these.” (Isaiah 45:7, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016)\n \nThe second word for create is the word “Yotzer” and this means to form something. This can be seen when a person takes a block of wood or stone and chisels away at it. Eventually, what was seen in the mind of the artist, the object will become. This type of creation is also seen in the potter making the jars of clay. \n \nSo let’s take a look at the passage from Isaiah 45:7 again, the verb for connected with light is to form, in Hebrew that is Yotzer. The verb used with the word darkness is Create, in Hebrew that is Bara. Therefore, we see that darkness is an Ex-nihilo creation. Then from the darkness, God begins to form the light. \n \nPart of training to be a Soldier includes the use of night observation devices (NODs). \n \n“Can I not do to you, O house of Israel, what this potter does? - the word of HaShem. Behold, just a clay is in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand, O House of Israel.” (Jeremiah 18:6, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016)\n \nGod is the potter and we are the clay. God Almighty can take us and make us into whatever God desires. \n \nThe third type of creation means “to make something”, the Hebrew verb is “Asah”. It is like the carpenter that makes a table. There are several different types of materials that can be used in the process. The table is not brought into existence Ex-Nihilo, it is not formed or shaped out of one substance. This is where man has his creative powers reside for the most part. Occasionally, with the poetic, or artist man’s creativity can be realized with the concept of Yotzer but most of the time man is held in the realm of Asah.\n \nThe man is a created being. There are two parts to man. One is physical and one is spiritual. We see that God formed the body of a man. One part is the physical body. As we can see in the scripture God Yotzer (formed) us like a potter with clay. \n \n“And HaShem God formed the man of dust from the ground, and He blew into his nostrils the soul of life, and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016)\n \nThe man is also a spiritual being. We can see this from scripture in Genesis as well. That man was created and in Hebrew, the word that is used is “Bara”, that type of creation which is Ex-Nihilo. This soul which God breathed into Adam in Genesis 2:7 was made before the body was made. \n“So God created Man in His image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016)\n \nThe question that a person must ask is “Are you a body that develops a soul?” or a “soul which a body was made for”?. \n \nIt is no coincidence that God placed the Ex-Nihilo creation of man, both the male and female verse in chapter one, and then placed the physical creation of man in chapter two and shows how the man was created from the ground and then that soul made in chapter one was breathed into a man in chapter two. The same for the female, she was made physical in a different manner than man to show that she is different than a man. However, the soul of her was made at the same time as will the man’s soul in chapter one. \n \n“So HaShem God cast a deep sleep upon the man and he slept, and He took one of his sides and He filled in flesh in its place. Then HaShem God fashioned the side the side He had taken from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And the man said, ‘This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This shall be called Woman, for from man was she taken.’ Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:21-24, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016)\n \nWe see that God created the soul which is eternal and then he created the body to clothe the soul which is pure. bodyThe Law of Attraction is extremely powerful. It is based in the book of Genesis. Thought leads to feeling which leads to action. Everything in the world was first thought. Man the thought of the Divine. A plane the thought of man. We pray, image, ask then pull those things into existence. Business is a faith endeavor to take something and pull it into manifestation. The words by themselves is not enough but it is a start. Attract the positive and build on it.

bodyIt is important to always look for the positive. This last week I was in RI for my regular job. I left to return home to San Diego on Thursday. My flight was arranged to leave at 6 in the morning. I was expected to land in the mid afternoon. Leaving barely enough time to get ready for my Guard Drill that started in Long Beach on Friday. I needed the time to get my car tires fixed because I had a slow leak and a haircut. My Guard unit is in Long Beach. So I sent my alarm the night before. In the morning I got a message from Delta that the flight was delayed. It was snowing in RI at that time. Then they said I can get an earlier flight. Providence to Detroit to San Diego. Originally was was scheduled to have my layover in Atlanta. This new flight path would get me home in SD around 1030. So I was fine with that. I moved fast to make the flight. Then once on board. The plane was late taking off because they had to de ice it. We where delayed an hour. Then once in Detroit I had to run from A6 to A66. By the time i got to the gate it was gone. They put me on a flight to Minneapolis. So I waited and got on the flight. Then I ran in Minneapolis to make the flight to San Diego. Since the timing was all off my wife could not pick me up because she had an appointment. Do I had to take an Uber. However, the app would not work. Finally I got a ride with Lyft. Now I could be negative and complain or I can look at the positive. Since I am a National Guard Chaplain, I think I would look at the positive. On the first flight I meet a cancer patient in his way to St Louis for special treatment. That hour waiting for the de icing of the plane was a time where I could help encourage this man. Then I Minneapolis I meet a Chaplain that was in the Army School with me. I was a to give him the 411 on the San Diego area since he was going on vacation. That was able to help him save some money. The the Lyft driver told me that she was new to driving. Therefore I was able to give her tips on how to strategize to make more money and to write off expenses for taxes. So in the end when we think live is moving us in directions we don’t like. There is reason. By the way I was able to get home by 130 which allowed plenty of time to get my haircut and vehicle maintenance done. In the end a little snow affected a lot, do to positivity.

bodyThere have been a lot of people out in our society that has been burned by Christian televangelists that teach what people call the “prosperity gospel” or “name it and claim it”. At the same time, there have been a lot of religious leaders that have not felt comfortable speaking about wealth and prosperity because they are worried that it would come across that they are only concerned about making money for their congregations, and this is in all of the three monotheistic faith groups. Money has been demonized or glorified. However, it has not been properly talked about. It is important to note that in the very opening chapters of scripture it speaks to the fact that G-d is the creator. This is important since it gives perspective. The perspective that the pages of Genesis teach us is that it all belongs to The Almighty. The Almighty is the one that ultimately determines who achieves wealth and who endures poverty. However, with that said, there is an extremely powerful scripture in the Prophet Malachi which speaks of wealth. “Bring all the tithes into the storage house, and let it be sustenance in My Temple. Test Me, if you will, with this, says HaShem, Master of Legions, see if I do not open up for you the windows of the heavens and pour out upon you blessing without end. And I will rebuke the devourer for you, and they will not destroy for you the produce of the ground, and the vine will not cast off its fruit for you in the field, says HaShem, Master of Legions[1]. Note: The Jewish Bible has only three chapters to the Book of Malachi whereas some Christian versions of the Christian Bible have 4 chapters to the Book of Malachi). There are two parts to the above verses. A lot of teachers ignore this aspect to the passage. They take that it means that there has to be money brought into the congregation. This is only part of the situation. The passage clearly states two places where the tithes need to be brought to. The first one is the storage house; this means that there have to be savings in life. G-d knows the cycles and seasons of nature. G-d is telling us to pay attention as well; there will be times when there are plenty and times when there is scarcity. This is the lesson we learn from Joseph and how he was able to save the entire Jewish people because he properly interpreted the Pharaoh’s dream about plenty and scarcity. The second part of this is bringing tithes into the Temple. There is no standing Temple that functions right now. This is interpreted as any religious congregation. The principle of helping others is what is powerful here. If a person does not have a congregation then they can give it to any charity. The point of the scripture for us in modern times is that tithing is a transformational process, just like prayer is a transformational process. Find some charity that you can agree with, one that holds biblical truths, and tithe. For many, this is the place where they get spiritually fed. In Judaism, there are three things that nullify an evil decree against people. We say them in the prayer books for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. The three things are Tshuvah, (Repentance), Tefillah (Prayer), and Tzedakah (Charity). All three are transformative. After we apply these principles, G-d Almighty, says something very strange. We are told to test G-d. Normally, throughout the course of scripture, we see that it is a bad thing to test G-d. It should be the furthest from your mind to test G-d. The very concept conjures up the image of Job testing G-d, and G-d rebuking Job. So what is meant here? The word for “test” in Hebrew is also related to the word for “grace”. This is one topic where G-d is telling us to test Him. It is G-d that is testing us, on whether or not we will submit to “the test”. This test is filled with grace. This is the type of test that a parent does to their child to ensure confidence with the child. Like a father in a pool with his arms out saying to his child to jump into the water. G-d is asking us to trust in Him and jump into the water. This is a power faith builder. It is necessary for spiritual warfare to be strong in prayer. Trusting in G-d, in tithes and charity, and trusting in Him that you will be taken care of will strengthen you each time that you jump into that water. Financial concerns can be very deep and scary waters to have to tread. Just as there are two principals at the beginning of the promise which is to save and to pay tithes, there are also two rewards. The two rewards are that G-d will open the heavens and pour out blessings upon the obedient in this command. The beautiful thing is that in Hebrew there are two words for blessing, one is “Asher” which has a connotation of wealth, and the second one is “Beracha”, this second type of blessing has a broader connotation of all blessings and it has its source in spiritual blessings. The second reward is that G-d Almighty will hold back the devourer. I have come to believe that this has a lot of components to it, and this is because to give tithes and charity is a transformative process. The mind becomes clearer. If you are focusing more clearly because you have trust that G-d is going to take care of you then you will not make decisions based out of fear, or confusion. You will take the time to think through your financial decisions and bring your impulses under control. You will start to look around to those that are successful and out of debt, like Dave Ramsey, or you will start to listen to the ancient wisdom of scholars of finances like Rabbi Daniel Lapin who teaches how to network to create wealth. We live in a cause and effect universe. G-d is sovereign and can step in at any moment and perform miracles, however, I see that here G-d moves on the person to improve and upon others as well for chances and opportunities to present themselves. In the end, the biblical truth of reap what you sow plays out from this act of tithing. [1] Malachi 3:10-11, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016

body“A psalm by David, HaShem is my Shepard, I shall not lack. In lush meadows He lays me down, beside tranquil waters He leads me. He restores my soul. He leads me on paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. Though I walk through the valley overshadowed by death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in view of my tormentors. You anointed my head with oil, my cup overflows. May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of HaShem for long days.” (Psalms 23:1-6, The Stone Edition Tanach, Feb 2016) This psalm is probably the most common of all psalms. It is very comforting and because of this it is very common at funerals. However, upon studying this one in the Hebrew language, it is very hard to convey the true depth of this psalm in any other language. The poetic nature of the language with the rhyming scheme is obviously lost through translation, however , f a person wants to hear the beautiful sounds of the poetic rhyme then they can watch YouTube videos of individuals singing psalm 23 in Hebrew. My personal favorite is by Gad Elbaz. A few points to expound about the meaning for the word Shephard, in Hebrew the word “Ro’e” means my shepherd however it is very close to the word “Re’a”, in the Hebrew language that does not show vowels it is spelled the exact way. So when it says that HaShem is my Shepard it also has the double meaning to say that HaShem is my friend. A friend is a person that will look after you, like a shepherd looks after sheep. The phrase “He leads me down paths of righteousness”. Does not mean what most people think. The Hebrew word “Tzedek” often translated as “righteousness” is misleading. The English conception is similar to a concept to be free of sin or guilt. In Hebrew the conception is related to charity. The work “Tzedakah” means charity and it holds the same three letter root. A person that is righteous is one that follows the laws of God, and one of those important laws is giving charity. So when it says that God leads me down the path of righteousness, David is saying that God shows him how to be a charitable individual in all things i.e., monetary, physical and spiritual. The next piece that speaks to the soul is the strange Hebrew word “Tzalmavet” what is translated as “Shadow of death”. This a word that I have not seen repeated in scripture. It is a crasis of two words. The first word is “Tzal” which means “Shadow”. It is important to point out that the word “Tzal” has to Hebrew letters. The first Hebrew letter is a Tzade and it represents righteousness. The second letter is a Lamed and it represents learning. As these two letter combine they form the word “Tzal” for shadow. A concept of a shadow is something that is carrying forward an image of what causes the shadow to be cast. So when this is put with the word “Mavet” or death, we see that the poet David is talking about how God is giving him a righteous or charitable lesson on what death is all about. I picture King David a warrior describing a scene where he is forced to go through a valley that has hills on both side. This is very reasonable since the mountain passes of Judea are described the same way. In this imagery I can see that all though David has to go through this mountain pass he is not going to let it stop him. There could be people on the hilltops with bows drawn upon him, but he will be okay because God is with him. There is another phrase in the poem that stands out. Where David says to God, “I will fear no evil because You are with me”. The common Hebrew expression of “with me” is “Eeme”, however in this poem the Hebrew word used is “Emadi”. It is not saying “With me”, it is saying “Stand me”. David is saying that he will fear no evil because God is standing him up. The phrase “Your rod and Your staff, the comfort me.” There is a reason for both of these items. The first one is used for discipline one when they go astray, the second is used to guide animals into a pen. David as a Shephard is explaining how both are used to make him a better person and as such they are a comfort to him. The next word that stands out to me is the word “Shulchan”, this is a very common word. It simple means table. In most cases this word would not carry any significant weight in the sentence, it makes perfect sense. However, once while studying Psalms 23 this meaning of this word struck me. The root of this word is “SHaLaCH” which means to send out. A person sends out invitations for another to come to their table. In conflict an olive branch is extended for peace and both parties come to a table. This concept struck me because the sentence is “You prepare a table before me in the view of my tormentors”, or as other versions state “You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies”. In other words, God sends out the spiritual presence to allow for peace. Due to the fact that David follows in the paths of righteousness before God, the enemies of David are presented before David. The anointment of oil in the ancient world was reserved for Kings, Prophets and Priests. This is the point where David is acknowledging that God has made him a King. The wine cup is a symbol of joy. So when it overflows it is showing that King David is blessed by God. The last piece is in the sentence, “May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life”, the word for “Pursue” is a very strong word in the Hebrew language. And in context of the Psalm it gives an image of a person being chased by their enemy. However, in this case it is not an enemy but the goodness and kindness that can only come from God. Overall, this Psalm has a deeper meaning then what most people attach to it. It is important in order to get a depth of the passage that a person needs to look to the Hebrew context, the Hebrew language itself and to the life of David as a warrior King and a beloved of God, as his name indicates.
