      "body": "SINGAPORE - Two very different acts played at the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday (Sept 16) night on the Padang Stage. Ariana Grande was the consummate live singer and The Chainsmokers made up for their vocal shortcomings with plenty of crowd-pleasing bells and whistles.\n\nWhile American pop diva Grande turned the Padang Stage at the Marina Bay Street Circuit into a pink-drenched dream, her fellow Americans, The Chainsmokers, turned the heart of the Civic District into a full-on electronic dance music (EDM) party, complete with building-shaking tunes.\n\nShe had the earlier 8pm slot and only played for an hour while The Chainsmokers put on a 90-minute show. But then the length of time does not matter when it comes to the quality of the performance.\n\n\nGrande, 24, was all sass and sexy hair flicks at her first outing in Singapore. The opener Be Alright was an impressive showing of both her flawless vocal chops and her ability to dance in potentially ankle-breaking sky-high heels as she vogued to the track in a black mini dress.\n\nWith her four-octave soprano on full show throughout, she delved into her biggest hits including One Last Time, Love Me Harder and Into You. She never broke a sweat despite the sultry Singapore weather and even managed to hold a tune while pedalling on an exercise bicycle on the Nicki Minaj collaboration, Side To Side.\n\nBacked by a full band, a small string section and a troupe of male dancers, her tight 12-song set included multiple outfit changes, including oversized coats over mini dresses and a patent leather ensemble on her Grande finale, Dangerous Woman.\n\n\nWhile there was plenty of spectacle to enthral her fans, with only 60 minutes to pack everything in, it meant she had to miss out on other fan favourites like Problem and her cover of Harold Arlen's Over The Rainbow, tracks which regularly featured on her ongoing Dangerous Woman world tour.\n\nBantering with the crowd was kept to a minimum, with only the occasional \"Singapore, let me hear you make some noise!\".\n\nIt was the complete opposite for The Chainsmokers, who frequently encouraged the crowd to sing along, wave their hands from side to side and even bounce to the left and right.\n\nThe DJ duo, made up of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, sometimes do their own singing but are not exactly known for their vocals. Taggart made weak attempts to sing live once in a while on the introduction to tracks like Closer and Paris, but perhaps he should have stuck to lip-syncing, as he did on tracks like Young, or pushing buttons on the console.\n\nNot that it mattered to the enthusiastic crowd.\n\nAs the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix celebrates its 10th year, it seemed like organisers were making more of a conscious effort to feature younger acts such as Grande and The Chainsmokers, and Sunday's headlining DJ, Calvin Harris.\n\nAccording to the organisers, Grande attracted a crowd of over 50,000 while Chainsmokers drew almost 60,000.\n\nThe latter are one of the biggest crossover acts in the EDM world, with radio and streaming hits like Roses and Don't Let Me Down. The formula for making it big with diverse, mainstream audiences, seems to be mass-appeal tunes like Paris and Honest, fun rainbow-coloured graphics, as well as pyrotechnics and confetti cannons that go off on cue perfectly to pre-programmed setlists.\n\nBut perhaps they relied too much on the bells and whistles and their set lacked the peaks and troughs of a good DJ set. There is also a vested or stored interest known as Steem Power. Steem Power is strictly for internal use in the Steem community, while the tokens are used for stored value and trading.\n\nSteem began with a highly inflationary supply model, doubling roughly every year.However due to community demand, on December 6th, 2016 the inflation rate of Steem was changed to 9.5% per year, reducing by 0.5% per year.\n\nSTEEM\n\nThe STEEM token is the network's base token. It is traded on multiple cryptocurrency exchanges and markets. Its market value determines the value of the pool of rewards paid by Steem. Content creators have the option to choose post rewards of 100% STEEM Power instead of the default 50% liquid currency (a combination of STEEM and Steem Dollars) and 50% STEEM Power. Users and investors also have the option of converting liquid STEEM into STEEM Power, called powering up.\n\nSTEEM Power cannot be transferred or traded directly, but the account owner can choose to withdraw liquid STEEM in weekly payments at a rate of up to 1/13th of the account's total STEEM Power. This is called powering down. The account will lose its voting influence in proportion to the STEEM withdrawn.\n\n\nSteem Dollars\n\nThe Steem Dollar or Steem Based Dollar (abbreviated SBD) is an asset intended to be pegged to the United States dollar. Steem Dollars can be traded at cryptocurrency exchanges, and used for payments for goods and services.\n\nThere is an internal market on the Steem blockchain and integrated in the Steemit website where STEEM can be traded with Steem Dollars and vice-versa. Steem Dollars can also be converted into an equivalent-value amount of STEEM in a process that takes 3.5 days.\n\nSteem Dollars which are held receive an interest rate. This rate is set as a variable collectively by Steem witnesses. This rate is often 0%, but it may fluctuate. If Steem Dollars are being traded below parity with the US dollar and the supply of Steem Dollars is not too high relative to the liquid STEEM supply, the interest rate may rise.\n\nWhile nominally \"pegged\" to the US Dollar, the Steem system along with the volatility of cryptocurrencies make this goal difficult to maintain. Witnesses are empowered to manipulate the value of the SBD currency to return it to the peg; however, dips above and below USD parity are common.\n\n\nWallet\n\nThe Wallet page on Steemit shows the tokens and the voting power belonging to an account. Unlike Bitcoin cryptocurrency wallets, every Steem wallet is publicly visible and tied explicitly to a particular account name. For the owner of a wallet, transactions of Steem Dollars and STEEM can be initiated from the Wallet page. Additionally, the owner controls powering up or down, transferring liquid tokens to and from savings balances, and conversion of Steem Dollars to STEEM.
