The QuarkChain team has extensive experience in developing powerful large-scale distributed systems in centralized world that handles billions of TPS.\n\n# Quarkchain Technology\n\nQuarkchain contains elastic sharding blockchain layer, which contains a list of minor blockchains (shards). Each shard processes a sub-set of all transactions independently.\n\nAs number of shards increase, more transactions can be processed concurrently, thus, system capacity increases.\n\nRoot blockchain confirms all blocks from sharded blockchains. Users will barely sense the adding of new shards.\n\nRootchain layer’s chain name is Rootchain and block name is Root block, interval is in minutes and main functionalities is Confirmation.\n\nSharding layer’s chain name is Shard and block name is Minor block, interval is in seconds and main functionalities is Ledger.\n\n# Security\n\nRoot chain’s 50% Hash power allocation enhances systems security and scalability and makes it more decentralized than single blockchain systems.\n\nAll transactions are protected by 50% of the overall hash power of the network, double spending attack requires at least 25% hash power of the entire network.\n\nThis is smaller than single-blockchains 50% but since Quarkchain is more decentralized as miners no longer need to join mining pools, it’s harder to collect 25% hash power compared to single-blockchain 50% hash power. It will also be extremely costly for a single entity to perform an attack.\n\n# Decentralization\n\nQuarkChain is more decentralized than single blockchain Network.\n\nProblem faced in other blockchain systems is that expected return times of weak miners grows as hash power increases thus they have to join pools which increases centralization.\n\nQuarkchain solves this issue in a way that a weaker miner in Quarkchain doesn’t need to join a mining pool to collect its reward as Quarkchain allows collaborative mining.\n\n# Scalability\n\nIt dramatically scales the throughput of the network by advanced sharding to improve system capacity, system capacity can easily be increased to process even more TPS.\n\n# Roadmap and Timeline\n\n**Mar. 2018:** Released Testnet 0.1 with Wallet 0.1.
