titleeasTEr LiNEs (Journey to the Cross)
body1. He looked weak, helpless and worn-out Yet He was full of power on the inside. They laid many stripes on Him But He had His eyes on me all along; For the stripes worked healing in me. 2. Wearing a crown of thorns and a scarlet robe With a reed in His hand; He was the perfect caricature of a king. The soldiers made Him so Yet He was the King of kings. 3. I can almost hear the voices of the soldiers Mocking, “Hail, King of the Jews!” The voice of Lucifer the fallen angel in melody Singing, “Oh, what a plan Elohim had! A plan indeed! Victory is certain! The people of the world will soon be mine forever!” 4. They spat on Him They hit Him They mocked Him Yet He didn’t reach any elastic limit, Indeed He had no elastic limit. He could stretch to the ends of the world And snap not! 5. Come to think of it. He could have called down legions of angels And the soldiers would have been no more. [And] He would have been justified as the King; Before the eyes of men of course. It would indeed have felt good, But… 6. He thought of me And then gladly bore my burden; Love. He saw the glory ahead And then reckoned that the sufferings of this present time Are not worthy to be compared with the glory ahead; Wisdom. 7. They led Him towards Golgotha The weight of the wooden cross Crushing His bones. Simon of Cyrene took the cross But He was still under the crushing powers of the Cross, The sin of the whole world. 8. At Golgotha they gave Him a drink Mixed with gall, a pain-killer. Though thirsty, He drank not For He will bear the pain fully Just for me Just for you. 9. Then they nailed Him to the cross. With every stroke of the mallet, The dark kingdom thought the way was closing. The Light Kingdom knew the way was opening. A striking contrast. 10. The nails invaded The flesh ripped asunder The bones cracked The blood vessels ruptured Blood sputtered! His anatomy was a mess! No beauty to desire. 11. The chief priests… the scribes… the elders They were not left out “You saved others; save Yourself. If You can come down from the cross We will believe You.” The offer was tempting And He could prove Himself too But… 12. There was nothing to prove He knew He was the King He knew He was the Son of God He knew… therefore He needed not prove. More so, That was not the way. This, the cross, was the way The Father had instructed Him thus. 13. 12pm Darkness DarkNess DARKNESS It was upon the face of the deep Something was about to happen [Just] As in Genesis. 14. 3pm He knew it was time He has been made sin The Father had looked away “My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me?” The cry was piercing. 15. “Why have You forsaken Me?” He knew the answer [This was the way If the world must be saved] But His body was still a body, It felt the pains excruciating. But the Will of the Father He must do. 16. It was time A piercing cry again Then He yielded up the ghost. Death The penalty for sin. My sin He bore And yours too He paid the penalty for us; He died our death, So we can live His life. For in Him, We are dead to sin And alive unto righteousness. 17. Amazing things happened The earth quaked The rocks rent But more amazing Was the event at the Temple. 18. The veil That veil That separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place. That barred people from His Presence Allowing only the High Priest once in 365 days. That vail was ripped from top to bottom. 19. Now I can enter You can enter Into the Most Holy Place Into the throne room To behold His Beauty Koinonia. 20. Now The way is open Not only the High Priest can enter But all who believe In the finished work of Jesus Christ IN THE JOURNEY OF THE CROSS. [Matthew 27:27-51] ©Ogbonnaya Akpoke (2017) P.S.: Have you said YES to Jesus Christ?

titleTHE SPIRIT BEHIND ACTIVITIES
bodyOne says, “God bless you,’ and you begin to see lines fall in pleasant places for you. Another says, “God bless you,” and your life remains as it was… or even worse. One sings, “We bow down and worship Yahweh…,” and the whole atmosphere gets filled with the glory of God. Another sings, “We bow down and worship Yahweh…,” and nothing changes… the atmosphere as dry as before the song… no moisture. One beats the drum, “_Katim ka ka_…,” and with it goes forth thundering and lightning in the spirit realm which cause changes that get translocated to the natural realm. Another beats the drum, “_Katim ka ka_…,” and the demons are dancing to the beating. One usher shakes hands with someone, welcoming the person to church, and the person is immediately engulfed with the Presence of God, and that service day is life-transforming. Another usher shakes hands with someone, welcoming the person to church, and it’s just a normal handshake... nothing more! Listen. It’s not just about the mechanics of teaching, cleaning seats, praying, singing, etc. It’s not just about the skill in drumming, playing the keyboard, preaching, welcoming people to church. It’s about the spirituality of you… yes you… the one doing the stuff. It’s about the spirit that goes forth with that which you do (be it singing, drumming, praying, dancing, teaching, etc.) Jesus was the One that said, >“It is the Spirit that gives life. The body is of no value for that. But THE THINGS I HAVE TOLD YOU ARE FROM THE SPIRIT, SO THEY GIVE LIFE.” (John 6:63 ERV) In giving life, the body has no value! It is the spirit proceeding forth that matters! **Quick Question:** “The things you do (drumming, sweeping the church, welcoming people to church, praying, preaching, setting up sound, taking photographs, etc.), where do they come from? Jesus said His comes from the Spirit… where does yours come from?” The Spirit or the flesh? Don’t you think that herein lies the difference between: - the results you obtain and the ones Jesus obtained? - the words you speak and the ones Jesus spoke? Don’t you think this is why the glory of God does not saturate the place when you sing, even with your angelic voice? **WANTED:** Spiritual men… men that minister out of the Spirit. When David played the harp for King Saul and the evil spirit left, do you think it was just the dexterity of David at playing the harp that drove the demon away? Come off it! It was the Spirit behind the sound coming out that drove the evil spirit. Don’t you think there were plenty skillful musicians in the palace of King Saul? Don’t you think they would have played for King Saul without being able to drive out the evil spirit tormenting the king? But when David came, he played the same harp, and someone’s life was delivered. In the Kingdom of God, spirituality is beyond dexterity/skill. Be skillful, but beyond being skillful, be spiritual… that‘s when your skillfulness can transform lives. God’s method of operation has always been sending forth **His Word and His Spirit (Ezekiel 2:1-2).** If you want to live a victorious Christian life, then take hold of His Word AND His Spirit. Leonard Ravenhill once said, >“If you have the word without the Spirit, you will dry up. If you have the Spirit without the word, you will blow up. But if you have the Spirit with the word, you will grow up.” **PRAYER:** Let every word I speak in the Name of Jesus Christ go forth with the Spirit (power) of God. Let my words, songs, drumming, etc. not be devoid of the Spirit. Let whatever I do be not such that it can only go as far as the body… let it not just end up arousing the emotions of myself and others without having the power to penetrate into the spirits of men and cause real transformation. Let my actions be in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4) **Tip:** If you made this prayer with me, join me as we increase intimacy with the Spirit of God. Shalom

Jesus said His comes from the Spirit… where does yours come from?”\nThe Spirit or the flesh?\n\nDon’t you think that herein lies the difference between:\n- the results you obtain and the ones Jesus obtained?\n- the words you speak and the ones Jesus spoke?\n\nDon’t you think this is why the glory of God does not saturate the place when you sing, even with your angelic voice?\n\n**WANTED:** Spiritual men… men that minister out of the Spirit.\n\nWhen David played the harp for King Saul and the evil spirit left, do you think it was just the dexterity of David at playing the harp that drove the demon away?\nCome off it!\nIt was the Spirit behind the sound coming out that drove the evil spirit.\nDon’t you think there were plenty skillful musicians in the palace of King Saul?\nDon’t you think they would have played for King Saul without being able to drive out the evil spirit tormenting the king?\nBut when David came, he played the same harp, and someone’s life was delivered.\n\nIn the Kingdom of God, spirituality is beyond dexterity/skill.\nBe skillful, but beyond being skillful, be spiritual… that‘s when your skillfulness can transform lives.\n\nGod’s method of operation has always been sending forth **His Word and His Spirit (Ezekiel 2:1-2).**\n\nIf you want to live a victorious Christian life, then take hold of His Word AND His Spirit.\n\nLeonard Ravenhill once said, \n>“If you have the word without the Spirit, you will dry up. If you have the Spirit without the word, you will blow up. But if you have the Spirit with the word, you will grow up.”\n\n\n\n**PRAYER:**\nLet every word I speak in the Name of Jesus Christ go forth with the Spirit (power) of God. \nLet my words, songs, drumming, etc. not be devoid of the Spirit. \nLet whatever I do be not such that it can only go as far as the body… let it not just end up arousing the emotions of myself and others without having the power to penetrate into the spirits of men and cause real transformation. Let my actions be in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4)\n\n**Tip:**\nIf you made this prayer with me, join me as we increase intimacy with the Spirit of God.\n\nShalom",

titleON DOCTRINAL EXTREMISM
bodyIn a bid to deliver people from one end of doctrinal extremism, we drag them right (past the midpoint of balance) to the other end (of another extremism). So we find that the church (the believer) most often is not at the centre of the road, but either at the left ditch (gutter) by the road or at the right ditch by the road. For instance: In a bid to deliver people who thought, "Poverty is a sign of piety... a sign you've died to the world and are living for the Kingdom; wealth is a sign you are not Kingdom minded", we produced a people who think, "Prosperity is a stamp of God's approval on my life. Poverty is a sign one's walk with God is not pure." In a bid to deliver people who are bound by 'the law', we produced a people who are not bound by grace. But God wants us to stay right at the centre of the road! But how do we ensure we do that? By reading ALL of Scripture. Don't just read 'Jude 5 vs 2018' and form a doctrine out of it. Read the Old Testament. Read the accounts of Jesus' life. Read the accounts and letters of the apostles. Read ALL of Scripture. That's the way to stay at the centre of the road. And yes, one more thing! Don't read the Bible as a lawyer wanting to prove a case! He already has his stand; he therefore reads merely to find points to back his claim, and then twists points that stand against his claim. Read the Bible as a detective wanting to solve a mystery/crime! He doesn't have a stand ab initio; he reads the whole counsel and at the end draws his conclusion/inferences. N/B: 1.) I didn't say the pastors should study ALL of Scripture; I said YOU, the believer, should. Pastors are believers too, so they should too. We don't study Scriptures because we are pastors with a message to preach; we study Scriptures because we're believers with a life to live. 2.) I didn't say you should listen to more of your pastor's messages. I said read ALL of Scriptures. Don't get it twisted, I love listening to messages... and in them lie a lot of mysteries that would probably have taken me my whole live to unlock... ...but I also understand Scriptures is the final authority. Pastors can make mistakes; Scriptures cannot. ![Scriptures.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWkdFw4aHoxW4gPsCVwgXyRnkw1V9LoTCknq3oqaksX2R/Scriptures.jpg) **Grace to your heart.**

title10 THOUGHTS ON (UN)FORGIVENESS
body1. You daily ask God for forgiveness for your wrongs, but refuse to offer forgiveness to your neighbour that wronged you just once. God is just watching you on 9D! 2. When you sin and then sincerely ask God for forgiveness, He forgives immediately. After God has forgiven you, He does not wake you up each morning reminding you of the sin He has forgiven you of (so that you won't do it again). No! Rather He bathes you with His love. Do ye likewise to your neighbour! Stop reminding people of the wrong you claim to have forgiven them of. 3. If God forgives you the way you forgive others, would you still be here? 4. Unforgiveness is a poison that kills... first the 'unforgiver', then probably the 'unforgiven'. Unforgiveness is like taking poison and expecting your neighbour to die. 5. If you are a believer (one that have received forgiveness in Christ Jesus) but still does not forgive others, you're simply an ingrate. 6. The way you throw away the trash in the trashcan without destroying (or throwing away) the trashcan, that's the same way you ought to help people dispose the trash in them without destroying them. 7. The love of God rooted in a heart is what gives that heart the power to forgive. Therefore the extent to which you forgive is a pointer to the extent to which the love of God has taken hold of your heart. 8. Christ-like forgiveness is independent of the object; it forgives WHOEVER. 9. Any man that doesn't seek reconciliation with his neighbour is not worthy to bring any offering to God! His offering is unacceptable. (Matthew 5:23-24) Unforgiveness is that bad. 10. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors. (Matthew 6:12 AMP) ![forgiveness.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmScoECgGER8zxKh8jAstYkgrQG5BjVyT2VBwWRzV8moqX/forgiveness.jpg) FORGIVE TODAY... LIVE TODAY

body>"And they overcame him by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB, and by the WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Revelation 12:11) In reference to that Scripture, someone once told me on a certain day, >"The 'blood of the Lamb' part is settled; what's in question is our testimony." The 'blood of the Lamb' part is settled! It is our testimony that is variable! **In the equation of life, the 'blood of the Lamb' is the constant (k), while the word of our testimony is the variable (x) whose value determines the outcome of the equation!** What do you testify? For what you testify determines the outcome of your life – success or failure, victory or defeat, favour or disdain, honour or dishonour, etc. What do you testify? ![iTestify.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYs2qt544fiv5kqY82bopB2rYncUqfFDsGhKSQVoL1t1Q/iTestify.jpg) >“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; WE ALSO BELIEVE, AND THEREFORE SPEAK” (2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV) Some Christians believe great things in their heart. Truly, they have studied God’s Word and have gotten some deep revelations and therefore believe in their deepest heart that they will do exploits on earth, that their families would be a place to be, that they will prosper in whatever they put their hands on, etc. But they do not consciously speak/confess/testify these things (rather they unconsciously testify what their physical environment is testifying). But we have to understand that the spirit of faith is not just one that believes, but one that believes and therefore speaks. What do you testify? Listen. God didn’t believe things to existence, He spoke them to existence! (Genesis 1:3) >“By faith we understand that THE WORLDS WERE FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3 NKJV) >“Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3 NKJV) You do not think things to existence; you speak them to existence. What do you testify? When your life seems like a disaster going somewhere to happen, what do you testify? When that project/purpose seems to be heading for the rocks, what do you testify? When you don’t seem to be seeing that good man or good lady to marry, what do you testify? When demons whisper into your ears, “God does not love you as much as you thought!”, what do you testify? Or when the demons say to you, “You think God has forgiven you of that sin you confessed 12 months ago? No! That sin is too big for Him to just forgive you like that!”, what do you testify? When it seems your education is packing up right in front of your eyes (for example, your grades are quite low and you are in your third year), what do you testify? ![iTestify2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdn9dNeeQ1w7vcEmmfzGjEQMPdB2rjCXudxJctcTCWRii/iTestify2.jpg) Learn to take out time each day to confess those revelations that you have in your spirit. Learn to take out time to testify the Word of God over your worlds. It is time for your worlds to start hearing what you testify. Remember the worlds were framed by the word of God. Frame your worlds by your testimony. Start here and start now. **Let the worlds hear what you testify... drop them in the comment box.** Do have a lovely Sunday. Shalom

titleWHEN YOU FAST
bodyWHEN YOU FAST (Matthew 6:16-18) Here we are - at the last part of our series on three Kingdom principles which every believer should engage in to ensure a victorious Christian life. But before we get into the injunction of Jesus Christ on fasting in Matthew 6, let's take a peep into some generalities. Fasting (in my opinion) is one of the grossly misunderstood and misapplied principle in the Scriptures. Many believers don't do it, and those that do it have a wrong concept about it, and therefore don't do it right. So let's shoot… **DO I NEED TO FAST?** In this era of new creation realities, do we need to fast? I mean, hasn't God made available everything for us in Christ Jesus? If He has, so why fast? First off, saying that fasting should not be encouraged in this era of new creation realities (seeing that we have all things IN Christ) is in essence saying that the believer should do nothing... he should not pray, he should not study, he should not fast, he should do *nada*. He should just relax and what's available in Christ will become his portion. I think the person making this assertion will do well in the circus! Listen. These things are available in Christ, but you don’t make them your reality by doing nothing! Look, we don’t fast to make things available. We will get back to this thought line in a moment. Let's stop to see what the Scripture has to say about this matter– if we should fast or not. **First witness:** “… The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.” (Matthew 9:15) was the response of Jesus to the disciples of John when they asked Him why His disciples weren’t fasting then. Now is the time Jesus was talking about, and we therefore have to fast. **Second witness:** Jesus said in Matthew 6:16, “…WHEN you fast…” The word ‘when’ implies that He expects us to fast. As I pointed out earlier, we are not fasting to make things available. I think there’s a general misconception about what fasting is; so let's just look at what fasting is and what it’s not. **SOME POINTS ON FASTING** 1. “Fasting is abstinence **FROM** anything which is legitimate in and of itself **FOR** the sake of some special spiritual purpose.” – *Martyn Lloyd-Jones* **Implications of the above definition:** a.) If you achieve the 'from' and fail in the 'for', then you have not fasted correctly. Therefore fasting is not just about abstaining from food or some other pleasure. b.) Abstaining from food (or other things) for a period of time is not an end in itself, but a means to cause us to learn about and increase our love for Christ (*Francis Chan and David Platt*) c.) Fasting is not a forfeit of evil, but of good. (You cannot therefore say you're fasting from watching inordinate movies! Or you’re fasting from stealing or lying. You shouldn’t be watching inordinate movies, stealing or lying in the first place.) 2. Fasting is not a way of pumping adrenaline into God or twisting God's arm to make Him do what He doesn't want to do. Fasting does not move the hand of God; it moves you to know where the hand of God is moving. I don’t think God looks down and says, “*Kai*, this my son has not eaten since yesterday; bless him.” I believe that it’s actually your activities (the prayers… and waiting on God, the communion with the Spirit of God, the Word study, etc.) during your fasting that make the fasting productive. 3. Fasting is not just for when you have a problem! Or when you have a major decision to take e.g. whether to marry bro Akin or bro Segun. Your quest for the utmost should drive you to fast. Your desire for a deeper walk with God should move you into fasting. 4. Fasting is a spiritual exercise which has the capacity to build us up if appropriately used. So you can just fast because you desire to know God more. 5. Fasting heightens your sensitivity so you get what God is saying as regards an issue, and align thereby. The burden of the stomach can oppress that of the belly/spirit. Therefore cast away the burden of the stomach (fast) so that the burden of the belly/heart/spirit can be fully expressed… *hehehehe* 6. You can have specific targets for your days of fasting. E.g. I will study John chapter 1 and 2 today, and pray with the revelations I get from there. 7. Fasting is not about the time but it’s also about the time. You purposed to fast till 8pm, and by 5pm you had become ‘useless’… you have become so tired that you could not pray, study, etc. any more. But you just have to not eat till 8pm… so you just lay there waiting for 8pm, all the while thinking about the fastest thing to cook once it’s time. C’mon, you are not under the law! Why not take something very light and continue fellowshipping with God? Remember, it’s not the time that matters but what you do in the time. This is however not a pat-on-the-back for indiscipline! There’s the place for discipline… there’s the place of not allowing your body dictate the extent you go. Learn discipline. **MATTHEW 6:16-18** So Jesus was on the matter of hypocrites again! They purposely disfigured their faces when they were fasting SO THAT men could see that they were fasting. Are you among them that fast and purposely carry 6 o’clock (straight) faces and walk sanctimoniously so that people will know you are *on the mountain*? Your intent matters. One word for you: Repent. Do all you can to focus on God, not man, when you fast. ![fasting.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZx9hvMofE1zs3sAFo29NBnMqMTcYqcDkPn4x7hacivFD/fasting.jpg) We draw the curtain on ‘When Thou Series’ here. One good summary of this whole series is this: **Any spiritual principle – giving, praying or fasting – you carry out with the purpose of ‘showing off’ is utterly useless.** Hope this series blessed your life? I'll love to hear from you - leave your contributions and/or questions in the comment box. Keep rising like an edifice. Shalom.

titleWHEN YOU PRAY (Part 2)
bodyToday, we continue our study into the three Kingdom principles Jesus emphasized on in Matthew chapter 6. You can look up my previous posts to get a hang on the ones you have missed. We would wrap up with the teaching on prayer today. Last time, we looked at what Jesus meant when He told us to pray in our closet. Today, we will look at two more areas; let's delve in straight away. b. Use not vain repetitions (Matthew 6:7-8) Reading further down Matthew 6, we see Jesus pick on another culprit and cast him into the dungeon. He says: “But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” C’mon Jesus, why are you tearing down all these things? “Because I’ve come with a whole new life – a life that is full and good. And I’m showing how it is lived out,” we hear Him reply (John 10:10). So Jesus says that we should not use vain repetitions. Does this mean we should not repeat words when we pray? Or we ought not to pray a request over and over again? Listen again as I repeat this for the umpteen time: Jesus was dealing with the intent of the heart here. He said we should not use vain repetitions like the heathen do, WHO THINK THAT THEY WILL BE HEARD FOR THEIR MANY WORDS. In vain repetition therefore, one is banking on the amount of words he has spoken for answer. You had be like, “No! I do not think I have said enough for this issue to be tackled. Let me say more.” You depend on the length of words for answer to your prayer. For instance, when you are faced with that sick person, vain repetition has crept in once you start feeling that you have not said enough for healing to take place (that you need to say more). At that point you are depending on the amount of words for answer, and that is vain repetition. Vain repetition however has a big wall separating it from persevering in prayer. Vain repetition is a thing of the lips while perseverance is of the heart. Perseverance is when you are holding steadfastly onto God. Here, it is not vain repetition even if you repeat the same word a thousand times, or if you keep praying a request for a long time. Why? This is because your heart is focusing on God… on the Cross, and not depending on the amount of words for answer. Then Jesus goes further to tell us why we don’t need vain repetitions. He says: “Be not ye therefore like unto them: FOR YOUR FATHER KNOWETH WHAT THINGS YE HAVE NEED OF, BEFORE YE ASK HIM.” (Matthew 6:8) So in prayer, you are not coming to keep saying it till God finally gives in to your petition; He has been waiting for you since! So you don’t keep saying it so that God can turn around (change His mind) and answer you. In prayer, you are simply coming to agree with what God is already saying so that it can be made manifest on earth. So you keep saying it till you see the manifestation of that which is in the heavenly places on the earthly places. Praise God! ![prayer2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbeMDB4nTRkB4t4yJw6FUER6mhM8dM2M1FQuYuoXCewUH/prayer2.jpg) c. Pray forgive us our sins (Matthew 6:12) Before you continue, please help me read 2 Timothy 1:9-10 and John 1:14. From the two Scriptures you read, we see that grace has been available in Christ Jesus from ‘before the world began.’ And when He appeared on earth, He was full of grace. So we understand that everything Jesus said and everything He did (while He walked the surface of this earth) sprang from grace. Why? Because it is what you are made of inside that will be expressed outside… for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So Jesus was full of grace and therefore could only have acted out grace. So when people tell you that the New Testament started from the epistles (after the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ), and that therefore Jesus lived and taught as one under the ‘law’; just give them side-eye and say, “Lie lie.” Okay. True, we only had access into the new life (the New Testament… the testament of grace) after the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ; but the life of Jesus Christ on earth was one lived in the New Testament… a life of grace. Therefore ALL His teachings, livings and works were born out of the grace that He was full of. So when Jesus Christ tells us to pray to our Father for forgiveness (Matthew 6:12), and then some folks arise over 2000 years later and tell you that Jesus was teaching the law here… that praying for forgiveness is not part of the new creation realities; just smile and tell them, “I know better… and by the way, I think you’re really running a reality TV show, not teaching new creation realities.” **If you sin, pray to God for forgiveness… He will forgive and forget.** Jesus was not teaching the law here! The summary is this: *Christ came down to the earth with a Life (the eternal Life… the Life of God… the Life of Grace), He lived that Life while He was on earth, and then made that Life available for us to be partakers of after His death, burial, resurrection and ascension.* Praise God! See you next time, as we delve into some thoughts on *fasting*.

bodyI personally love the third point on WHY WE PRAY. Prayer is designed to CHANGE US. Recently, God was drawing my heart to an error of our generation: That a greater part of our prayers and praying time is geared towards the external, not internal. We surrender our situations for God to change, but fail to surrender ourselves for Him to change too. But I personally believe that the first miracle that should emerge from our prayer room is us... a changed us. Recently my eyes was opened to Luke 9:29 in a certain way: Luke 9:29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment [was] white [and] glistering. (KJV) It was the fact that Jesus' countenance was altered first before His raiment. Therefore our prayers ought to change us before the things around us. Shalom

titleWHEN YOU PRAY
bodyWe have been looking three Kingdom principles for some time now. Yesterday, we concluded one-third of our outline… we put an end to the ‘When You Give’ part. Today we will start looking at the ‘When You Pray’ part. WHEN YOU PRAY a. Pray in your Room (Matthew 6:5-6) I trust you would read the Scripture above; so let’s just delve right in. As has been established over and over again in the course of this series, what Jesus Christ was dealing with in this section of His sermon was about the INTENT OF THE HEART… He was dealing with MOTIVES. He was saying that you may deceive men with your actions, but not God… that God has eyes that see beyond your actions to your heart, and it is the state of the heart that God does business with. So if you want to get rewarded (it is God that rewards; man can only give you an award) for your right actions, then you must not only have right actions, you must also have a right motive/intent… Those right actions must proceed from a right heart… So we also study these two verses from that understanding. So when Jesus says, “Pray in your room (with the doors shut),” we understand that He was giving a solution to the wrong motives hypocrites have for ‘praying outside their rooms’, which is ‘praying so that they may be seen of men.’ He was not saying that we could only pray in our rooms. Not at all; for He also prayed outside His room (Mark 1:35) So the message Jesus Christ is passing across here is this: We are not to pray so that people can 'feel' our prayers (that we pray and/or that we know 'how to pray'.) Our intent should not in any way be to impress the people around us. The idea is that when we pray (be it in our rooms, outside or with a group of people), we should GET ALONE WITH GOD. Even if you are praying with a thousand and one people, you should so focus on God that you see yourself alone with God, standing before His glorious throne and communing with Him. Our hearts should be fixed on God, and not with the motive of being seen of men. Your heart should so focus on God that you even lose grip of what is going on in the environment. You get alone with God. To further buttress this point, let’s look at the Greek word ‘tameion’. It is the word translated ‘closet/room’ in the passage in question. ‘Tameion’ refers to a chamber on the ground-floor or interior of an Oriental house which was generally used for storage or privacy, a spot for retirement. You see, it depicts a secret chamber, closet, or storehouse. So Jesus Christ was painting the picture of a prayer whereby a man gets into and he is in such private communion with God that the other man next to him ceases to exist! He is not praying to impress the next man (and in other words, praying to the man), neither is he looking at how the other lady is praying; for he is in a deep private fellowship with his Father. Nothing else and no one else matters. So Jesus Christ is not saying we are to pray only in our rooms. He is only using the concept of a room to paint a picture of how our prayers should be. Some pertinent questions for us: - When you kneel down sanctimoniously with your head bowed to the ground, praying in whispers; is it to give people the impression that you are really in deep communion with God? Or is it because that’s simply the way you touch heavens or the way the Holy Spirit led you to do it at that point? Your motives matter! - When you raise your voice during prayers, is it to show men that you don’t do ‘ssmmeh ssmmeh’ (small small) prayers? Or is that because it helps you focus? Your intents matter! - When you go to pray at that spot your pastor (or that brother/sister you are believing God to be your husband/wife) usually prays at, is it so you can show him/her that you can pray? Or is it because you know there’s an atmosphere around him/her that you want to tap into? Your heart matters! - Etc. Remember that with God, intents/motives/hearts are weighed, not just actions. Pray right! Pray! You have not given yourself to prayer? You are joking with your life and the lives/destinies attached to you! Repent! ![prayer.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPhdYFhLxxGQ9NfNmCkU4XKgpBGoNqhZPMh9dQ5pAARm3/prayer.jpg) We'll continue tomorrow by looking at what Jesus meant by vain repetitions, and the concept of praying for forgiveness. Don't miss it. Shalom P.S.: Your comments, contributions or questions on the territories we have covered (GIVING and PRAY IN YOUR ROOM) are welcomed.

      "title": "WHEN YOU PRAY",
      "body": "We have been looking three Kingdom principles for some time now.\nYesterday, we concluded one-third of our outline… we put an end to the ‘When You Give’ part.\nToday we will start looking at the ‘When You Pray’ part.\n\nWHEN YOU PRAY\n\na.\tPray in your Room (Matthew 6:5-6)\nI trust you would read the Scripture above; so let’s just delve right in.\n\nAs has been established over and over again in the course of this series, what Jesus Christ was dealing with in this section of His sermon was about the INTENT OF THE HEART… He was dealing with MOTIVES. \n\nHe was saying that you may deceive men with your actions, but not God… that God has eyes that see beyond your actions to your heart, and it is the state of the heart that God does business with.\n\nSo if you want to get rewarded (it is God that rewards; man can only give you an award) for your right actions, then you must not only have right actions, you must also have a right motive/intent… Those right actions must proceed from a right heart…\n\nSo we also study these two verses from that understanding.\n\nSo when Jesus says, “Pray in your room (with the doors shut),” we understand that He was giving a solution to the wrong motives hypocrites have for ‘praying outside their rooms’, which is ‘praying so that they may be seen of men.’\n\nHe was not saying that we could only pray in our rooms.\nNot at all; for He also prayed outside His room (Mark 1:35)\n\nSo the message Jesus Christ is passing across here is this:\n\nWe are not to pray so that people can 'feel' our prayers (that we pray and/or that we know 'how to pray'.) \nOur intent should not in any way be to impress the people around us. \n\nThe idea is that when we pray (be it in our rooms, outside or with a group of people), we should GET ALONE WITH GOD.\nEven if you are praying with a thousand and one people, you should so focus on God that you see yourself alone with God, standing before His glorious throne and communing with Him. \nOur hearts should be fixed on God, and not with the motive of being seen of men. \nYour heart should so focus on God that you even lose grip of what is going on in the environment. \nYou get alone with God. \n\nTo further buttress this point, let’s look at the Greek word ‘tameion’. \nIt is the word translated ‘closet/room’ in the passage in question. \n‘Tameion’ refers to a chamber on the ground-floor or interior of an Oriental house which was generally used for storage or privacy, a spot for retirement. \nYou see, it depicts a secret chamber, closet, or storehouse. \nSo Jesus Christ was painting the picture of a prayer whereby a man gets into and he is in such private communion with God that the other man next to him ceases to exist! \nHe is not praying to impress the next man (and in other words, praying to the man), neither is he looking at how the other lady is praying; for he is in a deep private fellowship with his Father. Nothing else and no one else matters. \n\nSo Jesus Christ is not saying we are to pray only in our rooms. \nHe is only using the concept of a room to paint a picture of how our prayers should be.\n\nSome pertinent questions for us:\n-\tWhen you kneel down sanctimoniously with your head bowed to the ground, praying in whispers; is it to give people the impression that you are really in deep communion with God? Or is it because that’s simply the way you touch heavens or the way the Holy Spirit led you to do it at that point? Your motives matter!\n\n-\tWhen you raise your voice during prayers, is it to show men that you don’t do ‘ssmmeh ssmmeh’ (small small) prayers? Or is that because it helps you focus? Your intents matter!\n\n-\tWhen you go to pray at that spot your pastor (or that brother/sister you are believing God to be your husband/wife) usually prays at, is it so you can show him/her that you can pray? Or is it because you know there’s an atmosphere around him/her that you want to tap into? Your heart matters!\n\n-\tEtc.\n\nRemember that with God, intents/motives/hearts are weighed, not just actions.\nPray right!\nPray!\nYou have not given yourself to prayer?\nYou are joking with your life and the lives/destinies attached to you!\nRepent!\n![prayer.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPhdYFhLxxGQ9NfNmCkU4XKgpBGoNqhZPMh9dQ5pAARm3/prayer.jpg)\n\nWe'll continue tomorrow by looking at what Jesus meant by vain repetitions, and the concept of praying for forgiveness.\nDon't miss it.\n\nShalom\n\nP.S.: Your comments, contributions or questions on the territories we have covered (GIVING and PRAY IN YOUR ROOM) are welcomed.",
