Он снят по книге Стивена Кинга, однако, в чем-то является даже мощнее своего первоисточника. Фильм прямо с первого кадра затягивает зрителя, и не смотря на то, что кинокартина длится целых три часа, она просто не отпускает от экрана. История просто поражает и завораживает. В кинофильме совсем нет спецэффектов, поэтому все держится только на игре актеров и диалогах между ними. Зеленая миля рассказывает очень душещипательную историю об одном особенном заключенном. Образы главных героев сразу покоряют, что присутствует не во многих фильмах. Нужно, чтобы зритель испытывал эмоции, желательно сильные и не важно, какие. Именно такой поток впечатлений, остающийся после просмотра этой полнометражной драмы, помогло ей завоевать множество премий: семь номинаций на награду «Оскар», три «Гильдии» и два «Золотых глобуса». Не каждое произведение способно достичь таких мировых высот, но в чём уникальность именно этого?\n\n**Сюжет**\n\nИзвестный банкир Энди Дюфрейн попадает в тюрьму за убийство своей жены и её любовника, где ему, как и остальным заключённым, суждено жить до конца своих дней. Суд приговорил Дюфрейна к двум пожизненным заключениям, так как его следы обнаружили рядом с домом, где произошла кровавая расправа. Отбывать наказание банкиру предстояло в Шоушенке. Эта тюрьма была одной из самых тяжелых по условиям содержания. Оказавшись в застенках, Энди продолжил сопротивляться той непростой ситуации, в которой очутился.\nПервые годы ему даются нелегко, у него появляются враги и друзья в лице небольшой кампании, библиотекаря и местного барыги. Но, пользуясь хитростью и смекалкой, ему удаётся наладить отношения с местным начальством. Директор тюрьмы, пересматривая дело Дюфрейна, узнаёт, что к нему в лапы попал находчивый банкир, который смог бы с помощью хитрой схемы делать работу за него и отмывать «грязные деньги» себе. Но, тот ещё не знал, насколько умён заключённый. Сюжетная линия поражает своей яркой и внезапной концовкой. Картина наполнена смыслом и, понять её может каждый по своему, но никому после просмотра, точно, не захочется нарушать закон. Образ суровых, беспощадных надзирателей и беспринципных заключённых – вот что заставляет ужаснуться. Это ли не чудо кинематографа! Не каждый, к примеру, сдержит слёзы, когда старый тюремный библиотекарь, прожил всю жизнь в заключении, вышел на волю и что он увидел? Машины, динамичная современная жизнь, незнакомые вещи. Он пишет в предсмертной записке о том, что за пределами тюрьмы уже никому не нужен дряхлый старик-заключённый и, скорее всего, никто и не заметит его ухода из жизни. И не менее яркие, но совершенно иные эмоции вызывает сцена, в которой свободный Энди Дюфрейн едет на дорогой машине к лодке, которая отвезёт его к собственному острову.
