bodyAs hackers are becoming better and better at stealing information, looking for vulnerabilities everywhere so they can steal coins it's becoming harder to keep wallets safe, to keep private keys private. It's a constant conscious effort, and it is exhausting. One of the things I hear a lot is that paper wallets are safer. Are they really? Well, I decided to spend some time looking at how they work to see it was something I could adopt. I came across this video by Andreas Antonopolos. If you don't know who he is, you really need to look him up and follow his [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/user/aantonop). Here is a video he did on paper wallets that explains simply how they work, why they're safe when used correctly and lengths you have to go through to actually create and maintain one. Very useful information. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cKehFazo8Pw" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> and on that note,... paper wallets are really not for me. Next, research on hardware wallets. Thanks for reading! -pinkdust *my places* --Trade alt coins! This is an amazing development. I think if it works we may see more companies in the traditional space that are currently considering doing an IPO, make the switch to ICO. O'Lear, a Shark Tank investor, made this announcement, saying that he is involved in the project but could not divulge any more information about it, other than it is a Hotel company looking to raise US$400 million. He said it something would be happening in 3 weeks he said so I'm definitely keeping my ears peeled to follow this. He said: >"There's a big deal coming in New York in the next three weeks," said the "Shark Tank" investor and chairman of the ETF firm O'Shares Investments. "It's a $400 million coin issuance for a real asset you've heard of." If if works it will significantly reduce the cost for going public. bodyI just watched this video this morning. A very pointed comparison between navigating the crypto market and navigating a video game. I think it is quite appropriate. body![6Tr6xKr8c.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmcbhwAJKwjYVdDiCALSy7pWE3wQdHrrAoj6J132Ktn6DH/6Tr6xKr8c.png) The rise in interest in the cryptocurrecy market has been good for many reasons. It has not been without challenges but I think for the most part things are looking up. One of things I'm most found of is the rise in alternative sites for information that are coming up in this space. There are more and more sites out there that show token data in ways that matter to users of cryptocurrency — whether as an investor for store of value, or trader or as an active everyday user or all the above. The number of resourceful sights is growing. One of the hardest things to figure out when I first started out in crypto what which coin to buy. I'd start by following the hype then digging deeper into the hyped coins to see if they were real projects and also to find out what kind of growth they've had so far to see if there is potential for more growth in the near future. I've found two websites that track token data from ICO that I find very useful: [TokenStats.io](www.tokenstats.io) Allows you to view prices in USD, BTC or ETH. Has the usual sorting options. Only list completed ICOs. They also have a Telegram channel for news. [TokenData.io](https://www.tokendata.io/) They also track tokens and coin from ICO. Prices are in USD only. Their advantage is that they allow you to create at account so you can track your portfolio. They list active and planned ICOs. They also link to all the project whitepapers for reference. They also have a blog and Telegram Channel you can join. I like these two sites very much because they show the growth of each coin/token since launch. So when lambo? When moon? Well, according to these sites you'll need to hold for at least a year if you want good returns, and that's assuming the ICO you are buying into now has a solid team and project. There are many that have flopped as you will see in the lists. It has not been without challenges but I think for the most part things are looking up.\n\nOne of things I'm most found of is the rise in alternative sites for information that are coming up in this space. There are more and more sites out there that show token data in ways that matter to users of cryptocurrency — whether as an investor for store of value, or trader or as an active everyday user or all the above. The number of resourceful sights is growing. \n\nOne of the hardest things to figure out when I first started out in crypto what which coin to buy. I'd start by following the hype then digging deeper into the hyped coins to see if they were real projects and also to find out what kind of growth they've had so far to see if there is potential for more growth in the near future. I've found two websites that track token data from ICO that I find very useful:\n\n[TokenStats.io](www.tokenstats.io)\nAllows you to view prices in USD, BTC or ETH. Has the usual sorting options. Only list completed ICOs. They also have a Telegram channel for news.\n\n[TokenData.io](https://www.tokendata.io/)\nThey also track tokens and coin from ICO. Prices are in USD only. Their advantage is that they allow you to create at account so you can track your portfolio. They list active and planned ICOs. They also link to all the project whitepapers for reference. They also have a blog and Telegram Channel you can join.\n\nI like these two sites very much because they show the growth of each coin/token since launch. So when lambo? When moon? Well, according to these sites you'll need to hold for at least a year if you want good returns, and that's assuming the ICO you are buying into now has a solid team and project. There are many that have flopped as you will see in the lists.\n\nSo if you are already high on your favourite ICO, or the ICO favoured by your favourite YouTuber, I suggest you take time to sober up, and hold on to your day job! Lambo and moon may come (or not), but it's not tomorrow when the coin hits the market, or next week when the CEO speaks at a conference. Nor is it in three months when the main net launches. bodyIt is becoming increasingly difficult to run an ICO, and to participate successfully. In the beginning, all a company had to do was make an announcement. Provided they had a good product in the works and promising team, there would be and endless number of people from around the world ready to give their money towards a project and speculate on the value of it's tokens. ![906655664.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdaTeuYXcbSNRpnft3DFGFDFzHQ7L4cgZ5Zt7kmnRaX3J/906655664.jpg) In 2017 the interest in investing in ICOs grew exponentially. The number of ICOs also grew and with them the number of scams and scammers ready to trick people out of their contributions. It used to be easy to identify a good ICO, now it requires serious work. It's not enough to read the white paper and be satisfied that the idea and plans "look good" or will be "disruptive" to it's target industry. We now have to research the teams extensively, check on their code on Github (or find a useful Youtuber that know how to check code, or read messages on reddit), join the telegram group to get a feel for the team/company. You may also want to check in on the AMA (ask me anything) event with the CEO to find out if that guy really has a vision. Oh!... and do they have a working product yet? The work to find the good ones is no longer an activity for an hour or so at the end of the day, it's a full time job. It's exhausting. Once you find the right one you also need to be vigilant, make sure you're getting your information from the official channels only. Scammers are rampart!! And you may also spend some time blocking scammers that try to get in touch with you on Telegram! It's muddy waters out there! For the ICO companies and the investors. With regulators beginning to hover in the crypto space, KYC processing has become the new normal. Proof of identity is now a requirement to participate in an ICO. Some ICOs go as far as requiring proof of address in order to be approved to participate. ICOs are also stepping up their whitelisting processes. The good ICOs get oversubscribed very quickly, and they look for ways to make participation fair while avoiding gas wars. Limits are quickly becoming the new norm in ICOs. The crypto whales are understandably upset by this, some opting not to participate in ICOs, instead they wait and buy the tokens when they enter exchanges and get dumped by weak hands. The Telegram groups can get quite comical. But please don't spend too much time in there. Ask questions, get your answers and stick to the announcement channels, or you'll simply waste a lot of time going through messages about mooning and lambos! We are starting to see ICOs add extra steps to their KYC processes in order to manage the number of subscribers and investors at the TGE. The [Seele](Seele.pro) ICO is the first one I've seen to give a quiz during their whitelisting process for their ICO. They asked questions, it would seem, to determine what kind on investor you are? Do you understand what the project is about and what they're trying to achieve, or are you just following the hype and looking for moon + lambo? Last week we had a surprise announcement from [Ontology](https://ont.io/) which was due to hold it's ICO on the NEO platform. They decided they would simply give away their tokens instead. They surprised everyone by cancelling their ICO and air-dropping the ONT tokens to the whitelisted participants and NEO holders. We then have [NEX](neonexchange.org), the most anticipated ICO of the year so far. The [NeonExchange](neonexchange.org) ICO that opened their whitelisting this week on Monday has opted for a lottery system. If you desire to participate you first register your NEO wallet address for the lottery. They will only select 25,000 people. If you get selected, you will then be asked to submit your KYC information. They are clearly more interested in having a fair, unbiased and efficient process. Saves them the task of going through more KYC submissions than necessary too I suppose. The [Metronome](metronome.io) ICO is expected to start end of march sometime, and they are not doing a whitelist. Even participants from countries that have banned ICOs can participate! How you ask? Well, It's not an ICO in the usual sense, they're holding a *descending price auction*. You can [read all about it here on their post](https://medium.com/@MetronomeToken/what-is-a-descending-price-auction-8c0770bb6a71) One thing is for sure, there is no one way to hold an ICO anymore, there is no standard. We can expect companies to come up with all sorts of hurdles for investors to jump through in order to minimise their work, as well as to secure the process better than it has been in the past. I for one will be glad for the processes that mean better security. What about you? notice any interesting ICO processes? what are your thoughts on the progression,... -pinkdust -**my places**- --Trade alt coins! body![download.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmecx1ojGsFdscW1F4APbJikFdPjdHxiV4KgPKLVqDgJ1L/download.png) [Binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=11021839) has announced that they are realising a public blockchain on which they will build a decentralised exchange. I have seen some posts online that talk about [KuCoin.com](https://www.kucoin.com/#/?r=1yJJ2) having the similar plans and Bitfinex has also recently announced that they are also making plans to launch a decentralised version of their exchange. Adding all these to the already existing decentralised exchanges means more competition in this space so we will start to see better built, user friendly decentralised exchanges. As a result of the announcement yesterday, the Binance coin has soared over night in total defiance of this bear market. If you hold some BNB congratulations! Those are some good returns. Currently trading at $10.37 with a 27.29% increase in the last 24 hours according to [CoinMarketCap](https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/binance-coin/) at the time of writing this post. Binance mentions in their announcement post that the end of centralised exchanges is not soon by any means. We are simply entering an era where both centralised and decentralised exchanges will co-exist. It will be a while before we can do away with the centralised exchanges completely. That's it for now, see you on the next post! -pinkdust *Articles around the web:* https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001668872 http://bitcoinist.com/bitfinex-build-eosfinex-first-decentralized-exchange-eos-io-platform/ https://itsblockchain.com/kucoin-is-the-next-revolution-in-dex/ -**my places** --Trade alt coins! bodyIt is becoming increasingly difficult to run an ICO, and to participate successfully. -pinkdust -**my places**- --Trade alt coins! bodyThe hacks are getting out of hand. I don't know if anyone else had noticed but it's becoming rampart. Most especially with the oversubscribed ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings). I have reached the point where I'm thinking twice about signing up for a whitelist. ![hacker-1944688_1280.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmS9d7ghVgiFZMVW3yb1WExM8azx3CQtPLdcAv1tpPnerf/hacker-1944688_1280.jpg) Just imagine for a moment, how many hacks have you heard about in crypto and where do they occur? Top two... Exchanges and ICOs. In exchanges they steal coins, in ICOs they steal whitelists and sometimes replace the contract addresses with their own. The goal is always the same, to get coins. I'm wondering if anyone has thought about what the implications might be when they are stealing people's information? When whitelist for an ICO we give a lot of information; name, addresses (email and physical, ether), ID documents, selfies... Yes, for the moment they seem to be stealing just to scam people out of their crypto which is still plenty bad, yet no one is talking about all that personal information that they tap into when they steal the lists. In the traditional space, when a hack happens and ID and payment information stolen, the banks go through great lengths to protect their customers from the harm that might come by replacing their cards immediately and so on. With ICOs, the loss happens much faster. Most companies issuing ICOs don't even know they've been hacked till their supporters complain about being scammed. I am not a security expert, I'm not even tech savvy enough to understand the full implications of information like that being stolen. But I do know that I don't want mine stolen. Just my opinion, I think ICOs need to look more seriously at protecting their supporters data. If they use a third party to verify that data then they should ensure that those guys are capable to keeping that data secure. Or even better, [they should use something like Civic](https://www.civic.com/) to verify identities for their whitelists. Anyone else out there thinking about this? Also, is anyone else wondering what they do with all that information once an ICO is over? -pinkdust *my places* --Trade alt coins! bodyI've heard that this happens but I've never really known how they do it, or why. Till I watched this video. It's such a sneaky thing to do when they don't tell you. At the very least they should give you the option to choose. There are some websites I frequent that seem to slow down my machine significantly, I always just thought they were clunky, not built very well. But now I'm wondering if this is what they're doing; mining cryptocurrency without my knowledge. But as Ivan explains in his video, it's not all bad. It can be a way for users to have an ad-free experience without the content providers losing out on ad revenue. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/U556vsDPFrs?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe><br> [Ivan on Tech](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrYmtJBtLdtm2ov84ulV-yg) is a great channel, do check out his content on YouTube. bodyIt's a difficult market to judge at times. There are some amazing ICOs out there to invest in, and of course, plenty of scams too. It's a shame when a seemingly legitimate ICO is brought into disrepute because some shady characters want to steal funds or information from people. I'm glad it's not put you off in the long term, but it's definitely something to be careful about. You're right, people are looking for the next big thing, and they'll get burned it they're not careful.

bodyHonestly I did not see this one coming. The number of subscribers in some ICOs is insane, But I guess with the influx of noobs and everyone looking for the next coin that’s “going to moon” if was bound to happen. I’ve attempted to participate in 3 ICOs this week and they were all over subscribed. The first was [Bee Token](www.beetoken.com), the second was [WePower](https://www.wepower.network/), the third was [MedicalChain](https://ico.medicalchain.com). I have so many mixed feeling about all three. The up side is they all managed to raise the funds they needed for their projects, the down side was the experiences. **For Bee Token**, whitelisting and KYC was done well ahead of time, and they were very clear about how they would release their contract address to ensure no one got suckered by phishing attempts. They also set individual caps for all participants so that everyone would get a chance to get some BEE tokens. That seems fair but when you want to contribute 1ETH and you get capped at 0.1ETH it’s disappointing. Everyone’s cap was different, and based on what each person said they wanted to contribute. All in all it was ok I suppose. If you whitelisted, then chances are very little that you missed out completely. The down side was the ridiculous amount of spamming and phishing that happened in this project. Form emails to the Telegram group. A lot of people lost so much money. They claim that they were not hacked but the emails were sent out with full names, and to whitelisted participants, so how did the hackers get the data? Still waiting to hear the real story on that one. The number of spammers in the Telegram group was insane, admins had to delete ALL messages just to keep out the phishing attempts. **For WePower**, whitelisting and KYC were also done ahead of time. They too had a cap for the Whitelisted participants. A blanket 0.2ETH for the first 5 hours, then it was open. After the 5 hours, whatever was left, if anything at all was gone in seconds! Again, disappointed at the low cap but glad I was able to participate. The downside to this was that they [sold most of their tokens in a private pre-sale](https://medium.com/wepower/token-sale-presale-results-token-supply-hardcap-indvidual-caps-78cc57fff10e) that happened after the public pre-sale. So while supporters were expecting 25 million tokens to be available at the main sale, only 10 million were available in the end. Most supporters felt stabbed in the back. I don't blame them. Especially those that had been there from the early days. This one had a bright side though. Knowing that in the past, websites have been hacked and contribution addresses changed to redirect funds to hackers accounts, and having learned from the bee token telegram insanity, they did something that I think every ICO should probably adopt going forward. The telegram group was muted, no-one could post. The last message contained the official contract address and was pinned. They also announced their contract address on twitter. It was awesome. **Medical Chain** was excessively oversubscribed!! I have never seen anything like it. The worst part was their decision *not* to do KYC ahead of the ICO like everyone else. Instead, they did their KYC at the start of the ICO. So it went something like this: ICO starts, you log in, submit KYC info, wait to get the green light, then send in your ETH. Problems, so many problems. The KYC info was processed as 1st come 1st serve, if you didn’t send the right info there was no second chance, you were simply out. The site didn’t run smoothly for everyone, so many didn’t get in when they should have. They were overwhelmed, and they should have known this would happen considering the number of people that had shown interest. Here is a message that was later posted in the Telegram group following a lot of angry messages as the ICO closed faster than expected. >“TOKEN SALE COMPLETED - $24,000,000 Hard Cap Reached Congratulations to all those who got through and bought MedTokens. We appreciate there are a lot of frustrations from those who didn't make it through. We received 45,000 KYC applications in the first 2 minutes. We processed 1,773 applications in total. Please stay tuned for our upcoming API release and exchange listings announcements.“ 45k submissions in 2 minutes!!! If you are planning an ICO out there, this is how not to do it. Needless to say I did not manage to get through on this one. But hey, 2/3 is not bad at all. In conclusion, the WePower experience was the better of the three in my opinion. It was a great idea to mute the Telegram group to cut out spammers/phishing attempts and pin the contract address. I also liked that they limited contributions for a short time to allow everyone a chance to get some tokens. NEXT? I’ve signed up for another oversubscribed ICO! I hope they learn from those that have gone before them. They have yet to announce their KYC process and when exactly the ICO will take place. Who you ask? It’s [Current Media](https://tokensale.current.us/?mwr=6402-602a3454). Check them out! They already have over 40k members in their telegram group. Read their whitepaper, sign up if you like them. Here is their quick video on what the project is about: <iframe width="998" height="560" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dV_ydsmnh7Y" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe><br> Thanks for reading, see you on the next post! -pinkdust *places I like* --Trade alt coins! bodyThe [Bee Token](www.beetoken.com) ICO started about 3 hours ago. Their registration was so oversubscribed that they had to cap individual contributions for the first 24 hours in order to allow everyone who went through the KYC process and was approved, a chance at getting the token. The ICO opened and scammers were ready! They have hit hard! I don't know how but they even got my email address. I suspect that the Bee Token guys may have been hacked and their database stolen. Whatever happened the scammers seem to have email addresses of people who had completed the KYC process and were approved. The telegram group right now is a hot mess. Admins are deleting everyone's posts. If you're fast enough and you read the messages you'll see the complaints about the phishing email, guys have lost so much ETH. I've seen a post that said "Just lost 4eth!" another that said "30 eth gone!" This is the phishing email as I received it: ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.00.00 AM.png] (https://steemitimages.com/DQmNMEVpzqY3D4yDh7dXBQcHoxgi9b6SP2fzjwooYHByhMo/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.00.00%20AM.png) <br> The pinned message in the telegram group claims that they have not been hacked, that the database is safe. So how did the hackers get all these email addresses? ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.01.58 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUxaafbBhdPDNKAy94b6QJGu2yiv62hN7EsSRxDwQpwQN/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.01.58%20AM.png)<br> To be fair they did repeatedly warn everyone to get the contribution address directly from their website, where there would be a video of the CEO reading out the address. That was very well set up. Currently all new messages in the Telegram group are being deleted. I wish they would respond to the community instead. The phishing scam was well set up. The e-mail was in my inbox at the exact time that the token sale opened. I would like to see a response from Bee Token team. How do they explain how so many emails from their database ended up with the scammers? It's a sad day for ICOs. So much loss. The [WePower](https://wepower.network) ICO opens up in about an hours. Let's see how it will go. I leave you with a few screen shots I managed to capture from the telegram group before the admins deleted the messages. As you will see, there were also scammers in the telegram group, sending warning emails with the wrong contract address. I've marked over names and faces of non-admin members. Admins and scammers are not covered. ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.08.38 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYmqHoCfSPZR6pW5RLywZTgfQPxpGNRU3Nfsgr6AuieuK/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.08.38%20AM.png)<br> ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.13.35 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmczQ5dZArWR2sc4HhszMSfwt1ybq47gDAgMPMLFEukyLe/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.13.35%20AM.png)<br> ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.13.24 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmamwDiJrEMzCT6d6pCo2Y4FXs1qMUgKhdmw7CMBqfuc82/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.13.24%20AM.png)<br> ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.10.21 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbVssZgRX4pYmMz4p1YzZ6bkZqPhRKH97QCSxDtKxwsoA/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.10.21%20AM.png)<br> ![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.14.58 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRzwE6md25Be5QWp9mqPTthidDxVPpo1MSXccEp8p3heu/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.14.58%20AM.png) Be careful out there people. Admins and scammers are not covered.\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.08.38 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYmqHoCfSPZR6pW5RLywZTgfQPxpGNRU3Nfsgr6AuieuK/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.08.38%20AM.png)<br>\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.13.35 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmczQ5dZArWR2sc4HhszMSfwt1ybq47gDAgMPMLFEukyLe/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.13.35%20AM.png)<br>\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.13.24 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmamwDiJrEMzCT6d6pCo2Y4FXs1qMUgKhdmw7CMBqfuc82/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.13.24%20AM.png)<br>\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.10.21 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbVssZgRX4pYmMz4p1YzZ6bkZqPhRKH97QCSxDtKxwsoA/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.10.21%20AM.png)<br>\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-02-01 at 1.14.58 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRzwE6md25Be5QWp9mqPTthidDxVPpo1MSXccEp8p3heu/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-01%20at%201.14.58%20AM.png)\n\n\nBe careful out there people. \n\nSee you on the next post!\n\n-pinkdust\n\n*places I like*\n--Trade alt coins! bodyBeing new in the crypto world can be very overwhelming. I know it was for me and it still is sometimes. Just when you think you have a good understanding of what's happening you discover 10 more new things! I just wanted to share a video and a channel that have really helped me understand what all this is about. First thing is to understand blockchain. What is blockchain, and what is mining? where does the mining happen? Can you mine? etc. This video here will cover a lot of your questions. It certainly helped me when I was just starting out. My awesome bro sent it to me actually, really helped. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bBC-nXj3Ng4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe><br> This second video is investment advise. When you're new and you look at all the crazy numbers on [CoinMarketCap](coinmarketcap.com) you can think that it's as easy as throwing your money at a coin and wait for it to 10x! But that is not the reality. Investing in crypto is a high risk business — yes, there can be awesome rewards, there can also be some serious losses. Be prepared for both. That said, here is an awesome video from the [Ready Set Crypto](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLVg3gS_lVVWhr23omBwAKg/videos) channel that will lay out a good way for you to operate. bodyCardano (ADA) has been called many things, some being the ETH killer, ETH 2.0. Blockchain 3.0, ETH on steroids. For the average person, like myself, who doesn't understand the technical side of building a platform like this, nor have any background in coding, that's just hype that you ether buy into and invest or not. So to understand projects I tend to spend a lot of time listening to interviews, especially with founders, and though I may not fully understand everything discussed, getting a feel for the CEO/founder and their vision for the project, how they see the future is important. I believe great ideas can die easily with the wrong person at the helm. In the case of Cardano, it is such a well thought out project, by a very thoughtful founder and CEO. I watch [Boxmining](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxODjeUwZHk3p-7TU-IsDOA) quite a bit. I like the in-depth interviews that he's been doing lately. Here is the one with with Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano. I think you will enjoy leaning from his perspective on the crypto ecosytem as much as I did. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pcNDSSmkgkA?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe><br> Buy Cardano on [Binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=11021839) Hope you enjoyed that, see you on the next post! -pinkdust

bodyThere is a lot of talk about disruption in the crypto space. It can feel like the whole world is about to fall apart when reading materials and consuming media from the crypto sphere, but when you pull your head out of it, you'll find the world continuing as usual like nothing changed. Say you are at the grocery store for example, that gentleman on your right is using visa, the lady to your left is paying with cash and your teller will tell you the store does not take any kind of crypto for payment. Actually, she'll probably look at you with a confused expression and ask you "what is bitcoin?!" Don't get me wrong, disruption is very present, at a very small scale though. It will not be as apocalyptic as some people imagine. I thing it will be a gradual transition, there will be drama, companies and people in the traditional space will fight back, but it will be more gradual than people imagine. In reality, the adoption of crypto currency at the moment is very small. Nevertheless, it's a growing market, with lots of new project ideas popping up daily. Some of them are truly innovative and others are copycats. Others are just putting old ideas onto blockchain, not necessarily making anything better. In the last month though, I've come across two ideas that I believe are brilliant. They put a new twist to an old ideas, true disruptors in the lending market if you ask me. **1. SALT** ![Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 4.52.40 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPvH98oZHwwQem2Tw1imBQydf78spsBKxYUz7hyZVFe3F/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-24%20at%204.52.40%20AM.png) I came across this one in December. One of the hardest things about investing in crypto, I find, is having to pull that money out (converting back to fiat). Firstly, you may lose a little bit on the conversion which is painful, I've done it. Secondly, you lose your position in crypto. It is so disheartening to cash out of your crypto position only to watch it moon the next day. Thirdly, having to pay tax on the profits. Well, with SALT you can avoid all three!! How brilliant is that? Here is a video on how it works: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1FM-wvE64ZA?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> So with salt, you can maintain your crypto currency position by using your coins as collateral. SALT will give you the loan in fiat, and because it's a loan the tax man has nothing on you. Once you pay back the loan you get your crypto back. SALT is built on Ethereum so all of it is managed by smart contracts. Next time you have an emergency, don't cash out your crypto, use [SALT](https://membership.saltlending.com/register?r=mnvc4) and keep your position. **2. Sweetbridge** ![Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 4.53.28 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ4vvpHxRbU34JcqTtqy7QeRX9AH3HEv8UdTDAJKd3isM/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-24%20at%204.53.28%20AM.png) Say you would like to invest in crypto but would prefer not to use any hard cash to get in. You've made some good progress on paying down your mortgage and you'd like to pull out some of that equity for this. Well, you can go to the bank OR pretty soon, you can come to these guys. They are building an ecosystem of products. Their AssetVault system allows you to borrow from the value of your own assets. See video below for an overview of how it works: <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/238854718" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> This project is preparing to have their ICO soon. The cryptocurrency liquidity system is the first of many steps towards their goals. They're introducing an assetvault smart contract that allows users to pledge their assets. They then receive the Bridgecoin crypto asset once their collateral is deposited. What I also liked about it is that Vinay Gupta is on their advisory team. He is a voice of authority in the crypto space specifically in regards to policy. Lending is a big money maker for traditional banks. In my opinion, these are the best disruptive ideas build on blockchain that can give the banks a run for their money. Thanks for reading. Hope you like the projects I've shared. "body": "There is a lot of talk about disruption in the crypto space. Actually, she'll probably look at you with a confused expression and ask you \"what is bitcoin?!\"\n\nDon't get me wrong, disruption is very present, at a very small scale though. It will not be as apocalyptic as some people imagine. I thing it will be a gradual transition, there will be drama, companies and people in the traditional space will fight back, but it will be more gradual than people imagine. In reality, the adoption of crypto currency at the moment is very small.\n\nNevertheless, it's a growing market, with lots of new project ideas popping up daily. Some of them are truly innovative and others are copycats. Others are just putting old ideas onto blockchain, not necessarily making anything better. \n\nIn the last month though, I've come across two ideas that I believe are brilliant. They put a new twist to an old ideas, true disruptors in the lending market if you ask me.\n\n**1. SALT** \n\n![Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 4.52.40 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPvH98oZHwwQem2Tw1imBQydf78spsBKxYUz7hyZVFe3F/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-24%20at%204.52.40%20AM.png)\n\nI came across this one in December. Here is a video on how it works:\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/1FM-wvE64ZA?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\n\nSo with salt, you can maintain your crypto currency position by using your coins as collateral. SALT will give you the loan in fiat, and because it's a loan the tax man has nothing on you. Once you pay back the loan you get your crypto back. SALT is built on Ethereum so all of it is managed by smart contracts. Next time you have an emergency, don't cash out your crypto, use [SALT](https://membership.saltlending.com/register?r=mnvc4) and keep your position.\n\n**2. Sweetbridge**\n\n![Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 4.53.28 AM.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ4vvpHxRbU34JcqTtqy7QeRX9AH3HEv8UdTDAJKd3isM/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-24%20at%204.53.28%20AM.png)\n\nSay you would like to invest in crypto but would prefer not to use any hard cash to get in. You've made some good progress on paying down your mortgage and you'd like to pull out some of that equity for this. Well, you can go to the bank OR pretty soon, you can come to these guys. They are building an ecosystem of products. Their AssetVault system allows you to borrow from the value of your own assets. See video below for an overview of how it works:\n\n<iframe src=\"https://player.vimeo.com/video/238854718\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\n\nThis project is preparing to have their ICO soon. \n\nLending is a big money maker for traditional banks. In my opinion, these are the best disruptive ideas build on blockchain that can give the banks a run for their money. \n\nThanks for reading. Hope you like the projects I've shared. If you've seen other equally disruptive or better projects, do share them in the comments below.\n\n*Note: This is not financial advice.* \n\nSee you on the next post!\n\n-pinkdust\n\n\n*Where I trade*\n--Get alt coins!
