Onions have layers. The blockchain also has layers.\nThe More you peel or uncover each layer, the more new innovations you get to discover.\n\nLet's peel the blockchain layers one after the other. \n \n\n1.Layer \"0\" or Cosmos\n\nCosmos is the most well-known example of a Layer \"0\" protocol. Layer 0 is the major foundation of the layers \n\nThey provide open-source tools such as Tendermint, Cosmos SDK, and IBC to help developers easily create their own blockchains that can communicate with each other. Their aim is to create the \"Internet of Blockchain\".\n\nProjects like Binance, Crypto.com, and Polygon were created using Cosmos.\n\nLayer \"0\" protocols allow cross-chain interoperability between Layer 1 projects. \n\nThis is a major issue with Layer 1; once you're in the ecosystem, it's quite hard to move to another — Layer \"0\" fixes that.\n\nNot all blockchains built on the same Layer \"0\" will have the same design. \n\nThey can use different consensus mechanisms, block parameters, etc.\n\n2. Layer \"1\" Blockchain.\n\nLayer \"1\" is the base blockchain; it can validate and finalize transactions using its own network. Examples of Layer \"1\" blockchain projects are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano.\n\nLayer \"1\" blockchain networks have their own native token, also known as a coin, which is used to pay transaction fees.\n\nLayer \"1\" networks have issues with scaling. When the blockchain struggles to process the number of transactions the network is requiring, the transaction fees increase.\n\nWhen addressing scaling, you’re faced with the Blockchain Trilemma, a term coined by Vitalik Buterin. \n\nThis is where you're trying to balance decentralization, security, and scalability. All scaling solutions will attempt to strike a balance between these three.\n\nThere are three main approaches to improving a Layer 1's scalability: block size, changing the consensus mechanism, and sharding.\n\n*Increase Block Size \n\nIf a Layer 1 network is struggling to handle the number of transactions required, you can increase the block size. This will allow more transactions to be processed in each block.\n\n*Consensus Mechanism \nChanges \n\nSome consensus mechanisms are less scalable than others.\n\nFor example, the proof-of-work consensus mechanism is less sustainable and scalable than proof-of-stake. \n\n*Sharding \n\nPut simply, Sharding is where a set of data is split into smaller, more easily managed shards. This is an easy way to help spread the load. \n\nThink about eating a cake, it's much easier to eat it once it's cut into slices and handed out to other people.\n\nThis helps spread the workload and, in turn, increases the transaction speed.\n\n3. Layer \"2\"\n\nLayer \"2\" protocols are built on top of the Layer \"1\" blockchain to address Layer 1's scalability issues.\n\nTwo things that Layer \"2\" can improve are transaction speed (how long one transaction takes), and transaction throughput (how many transactions the network can process in a defined time period).\n\nWhen the Layer 1 network becomes congested, Layer 2 can pick up the slack to improve transaction times and lower transaction fees.\n\nMost airdrops trending now are layers \"2\"\n\nExamples of layers \"2\" \n\nOptimism \nArbitrum \nPolygon zkEVM \nStarknet \nCeler \n\n4. Layer \"3\"\n\nLayer \"3\" is the protocol(s) that enables blockchain-based applications like dApps, games, storage, etc. \n\nLayer 3 is often referred to as the “application layer”.\n\nLayer \"3\" is what gives the base blockchain function outside of just transactions.\n\nMost Layer 1 blockchains allow you to easily build Layer 3 projects directly onto their network, but this isn't possible with Bitcoin before now.\n\nEthereum, Solana, and Cardano have flourishing Layer 3 ecosystems that enrich their blockchain.\n\nIt may be important to note that each blockchain uses a different programming language. \n\nThis means that Layer 3 applications that provide cross-chain functionalities must be multilingual. For example, translating from Solidity for Ethereum to Haskell for Cardano.\n\nLayer 3 gives the layers below real-world applications outside of just transactions. Now, you can create NFTs, swap your tokens, play games, and so much more. The application layer unlocks the blockchain's full potential.",

Billions of people use social media despite sometimes feeling dispirited by the experience; toxicity often in full display.\n\nOne crypto startup with tens of millions of smartphone users mining their native token is aspiring to change that reality by launching a new social media app which incentivizes positive behavior while disincentivizing what's deemed negative by users.\n\nCreated by Pi Network and dubbed Fireside Forum, the initially text-based social platform is enlisting a model where users can spend tokens rewarding and elevating posts they like or invest them in penalizing the posts they don't. The company's aim is the Pi Network model will help suppress content considered spam, misleading, toxic or all of the above.\n\n\"Web3 should solve some of the drawbacks or flaws of web2 social media, namely the overload of information, misinformation, trolling and internet violence,” said Pi Network co-founder Chengdiao Fan, who has a Stanford PhD in social computing. “Using powerful tools that are available in web3 — blockchain and cryptocurrency — and using them as a mechanism to create disincentives and incentives, and a balance between the two, will in a sense automatically moderate behavior.\"\n\nJust as users can tout content produced by their online counterparts, people can also earn rewards when their posts are popular.\n\nSince starting Pi Network roughly five years ago in 2018, its founders said they have been dreaming of building a social media platform devoid of the many elements that often spoil users' experience on traditional networks like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.\n\n“It’s been proven that when people add even a small economic incentive or disincentive into their actions then all of a sudden they become a lot more rational,” said Pi Network co-founder Nicolas Kokkalis, also a Stanford PhD.\n\nPi Network has so far expanded its ecosystem by signing up 45 million “engaged” users who have downloaded its app in order to mine its Layer 1 token. The company’s founders said they define “engaged” users as people who have downloaded their app, signed in and then mined tokens.\n\nThe company bills itself as a “utilities-based ecosystem for third-party apps on a mobile web platform,” which \"offers a mobile-first mining approach, with low financial cost.” Currently, Pi Network's token does not currently does not trade on an outside exchange and is only useful within the company’s ecosystem.\n\n“We are currently in a phase we call the ‘enclosed mainnet,’\" said the founder Kokkalis. \"During this phase we are migrating people from the mobile app to the blockchain while at the same time they are performing a decentralized KYC (know your customer) application that we have built.\"\n\nThe company uses a KYC process geared in large part to making sure its users are actual people; a step implemented in order to evacuate out the bot-run fake accounts that often frustrate users on Twitter.",

This change is part of a long trend of disuse of all bearer instruments, like stock certificates and bearer bond.\n\nThis strategic removal of cash from the economy will allow the State to go on spending, which will add to the inflation and debt cycle via its new digital currency. Some actors, including bureaucrats and self-serving organizations, will enjoy this increased State spending. Viewed from the perspective that petroleum production backs the United State Dollar, it’s fair to conclude that many of the actors in this inflationary-debt bubble have been acting in bad faith. More toxically, it may be commented that these “fiduciary” leaders of money and policy are intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt. Henry Kissinger, for example, might add that “It is not a matter of what is true that counts, but a matter of what is perceived to be true.” And any honest dissenters to this hegemony, with the late Jamal Khashoggi coming to mind, are often met with a deadly response.\n\nEthio Telecom (the State-owned monopoly provider) introducing TeleBirr is a decades-late step in the right direction toward digital money. Integration and application building, as well as hardware and infrastructure challenges still remain, but new capital will allow for a larger customer base. At present, only 20-25% of Ethiopians have easy access to telecom services.\n\nIn the next few months we will likely continue to see a rise in bitcoin price. Value will continue to be created by a decentralized pool of miners and node operators and stored in bitcoin. As solutions on the Lightning Network and Layer 2 offer daily users near zero fees and under one second transaction times, adoption in young countries like Ethiopia will happen sooner than we think. And given its finite supply and 130 year marathon of increasing computational difficulty, bitcoin, with its decentralized ambition for a new money, may just very well be the new standard as proclaimed by Saifedean Ammous.\n\nMost Ethiopian’s will always remember where they were at the time of artist and activist Hachalu Hundessa’s assassination. Between the hours of nightfall on June 29, 2020 and the following Tuesday morning, tragic news of Hundessa’s death worked its way through informal channels. As Telegram groups grew frantic and fearful as to what would happen next, Addis Ababa turned frigid. 2020 was about to get even more fragile. Ethiopia lost internet as quickly as most neighborhoods lost electricity that morning. And there would be no more connections made through the state-owned monopoly telecom provider for the next three weeks.\n\nMuch like USD, Bitcoin is not legal tender in Ethiopia. And because of telecom limitations, more than 70 million Ethiopians are currently incapable of opening a digital wallet. Those are the only two challenges I can find in Ethiopia for widespread adoption of bitcoin as both a store of value and as a currency to be used for daily transactions.\n\nGiven the volatility of bitcoin, it may be the case that, for practical reasons, the United States dollar will be used as a temporary unit of account. But over time, with revisions in law and global alliances, and with it furiously increasing velocity of use, bitcoin will become a standard countries like Ethiopia cannot escape.\n\nSimilar to Greater Africa, over 70% of Ethiopia is under the age of 27. The majority of Ethiopians are living under increasingly expensive conditions which create inflated prices and diminishing returns of value. The Ethiopian Birr, at roughly 20% per year, is debased through a variety of factors. These factors exist within an academic cocktail of printing, borrowing, spending, and dead aid (reference to Zambian economist Dambisa Moyo). Whatever Ethiopia's growth rate, the exports seem to never be enough. As a result, the price of a holiday lamb (think of it as a holiday ham) has gone from 1,200 Ethiopian Birr ($66.67) in 2014 to an average price of 5,700 Ethiopian Birr ($142.50) in 2021. Meanwhile salaries have increased at a much slower pace.",

China’s “Digital Currency Electronic Payment” or DCEP is getting closer toward launch by the day. Last week, smart card manufacturer Chutian Dragon and IDEX Biometrics announced the companies are working on a digital yuan payments card.\n\nChina’s DCEP Will Boast Advanced Fingerprint Identification and Authentication Solutions\nChina’s DCEP continues to make headlines as the crypto asset and central bank-crafted network inches closer toward reality. As the digital yuan draws near, Bitcoin.com News reported on JD.com’s employee participation, Tencent and Ant Group’s help, and Mastercard looking to engage with DCEP transactions. Additionally, reports had shown that the People’s Bank of China-run Digital Currency Research Institute’s, Ma Changchun, stressed that the DCEP would not be fully anonymous.\n\nChina's Digital Yuan Smart Card to Feature Biometrics and Fingerprint Scanning\n\nNow regional reports from China reveal that a new smart card specifically designed to work with the DCEP is being created and the card will feature biometrics. 8btc contributor Olusegun Ogundeji details that Chutian Dragon is one of the largest smart card makers in Asia and is collaborating “with the Norwegian provider of advanced fingerprint identification and authentication solutions” provider IDEX Biometrics.\n\nOgundeji also notes that Chinese officials are hoping to launch the DCEP during Beijing’s Winter Olympics in 2022.\n\n‘China’s CBDC Is Ahead of the Game,’ Says IDEX Biometrics\nChina has been ahead of the game in comparison to the U.S. when it comes to a central bank digital currency (CBDC). In the company’s recent announcement about the DCEP project, IDEX Biometrics says: “China is leading the way with digital currency electronic payment.”\n\nIDEX Biometrics further notes that a biometric payment card is essential for a CBDC network. “For the average person, the new currency means lower bank or transaction charges and greater security from thieves and hackers. Stealing a traceable currency is less appealing than the anonymity of stealing a wallet but still possible – without a biometric payment card,” the biometrics company explained this week.\n\nOne reason why the Postal Savings Bank of China is trialling cards equipped with fingerprint scanners developed by fintech partners IDEX Biometrics and Goldpac for transactions in the new currency… A biometric payment card is also smaller and cheaper than a smartphone and requires no battery. That means everyone can have one and be less dependent on network connectivity and power sockets. One trial combines digital payments into a medical ID card.\n\nThe biometrics and fingerprint concepts most definitely indicate a lack of anonymity with China’s upcoming DCEP network. If he’s paid a 5 percent bonus, for instance, that would net him about $268,000 (£195,000) in bitcoin.\n\n\nAll 24 players on Southampton’s roster will be eligible to receive bitcoin as their bonus payments. Southampton plays in the English Premier League, which has massive sums of money going to players left, right and center. The potential for these salaries to be paid in bitcoin is extremely bullish, as that would be a significant amount of BTC being taken off the market, and one can only assume that the players who do opt into accepting bitcoin will store it in cold storage.\n\nThis was Southampton’s first season with the Sportsbet.io logo on their uniforms, and the CEO of Coingaming Group, which operates Sportsbet.io, Maarja Pärt has been very pleased with the results.\n\n“Our first season as Southampton FC’s main club partner has already exceeded all expectations,” per the report. “We’ve been inspired by the passion of the club and its fans, and it was an easy decision for us to extend our partnership with the Saints for another three years.”\n\nLast year, Watford F.C. had a Bitcoin logo on its jersey sleeves. The pi Browser houses the Pi wallet, which will serve as tghe bank to already mined Pi in the future. To access the Pi Browser and the mobile Pi Wallet, download the new Pi Browser app from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store through the button on the home screen of the initial Pi mobile app. Please make sure you're downloading the official Pi Browser app from the Core Team (marked as “Pi Community company” in store listings), and beware of fake wallets or scams.\n\nThe Pi Browser aims to create a more open and direct Pi Utilities platform where developers can easily develop, test and deploy Pi Apps for Pioneers to try and use in the future. The Pi Browser is basically the new interface of the Pi Apps/Utilities Platform. As a general-purpose browser tool, it is still primitive, but it is the only browser that can support Pi applications. This is also the beta version of the browser, and more changes and features will be added later.\n\nLast week the launching of the desktop Pi Wallet to every Pioneer took place, and today is the launching of the mobile version of the Pi Wallet inside the Pi Browser app. So, if you have not created your wallet through the desktop version, please download the Pi Browser app and create your wallet there. If you have already created your wallet on desktop last week, you can now access your wallet on your mobile through the Pi Browser app and safely store your passphrase on your phone through fingerprints or FaceID. The Pi Wallet is an important milestone in Pi’s strategy of progressive decentralization towards the Mainnet because every Pioneer will be able to interact with the Testnet blockchain through their wallets by creating Test-Pi transactions. We are also preparing more for the Pi Mainnet both in terms of 1) community readiness and 2) improvements towards the blockchain and its scalability, as the community tests transactions on the Testnet.\n\nWhy are the Pi Wallet and Pi Browser bundled together?\nHaving the wallet inside the Pi Browser App will ultimately allow future Pi Apps and traditional businesses to easily integrate Pi Payments and interact with the Pi blockchain. In addition to supporting any Web2.0 applications like existing web browsers, the Pi Browser will enable people to browse, interact and transact in decentralized applications — applications that integrate with blockchain technology — for a seamless and friendly user experience. Additionally, the Pi Browser will have a directory of selected Pi Apps and its own DNS system to support a whole new class of .pi domains. For example, current apps — Pi Wallet, Pi Chats, Mining, Brainstorm — will be accessible by typing in respectively wallet.pi, chats.pi, mine.pi and brainstorm.pi in the URL field of the browser.       "body": "The tallest man who ever lived was Robert Wadlow. His life was exciting, but short in a tragic way.\n\n He  was born healthy and seemingly normal in 1918. Like most babies, in his first year of life, Robert started to develop. He grew incredibly quickly and extraordinarily tall, as opposed to many infants. He surpassed his father's height of 5 feet 11 inches by 3 inches when he turned 8 years of age. At the age of 13, he became the tallest Boy Scout in the world at 7 foot 4 inches. He landed in the record books as the world's tallest individual at 8 foot 4 inches by the time he graduated from high school (254 cm). Eventually, physicians diagnosed Robert with pituitary gland hyperplasia. It is a disease that, because of an abnormally high level of human growth hormones in the body, causes excessive growth. His body kept expanding even at the time of his death and showed no sign of slowing down.\n\nHis parents wanted to make his life as normal as possible, so when he was in elementary school, they made a special desk for him. To pursue a career in law, he later enrolled at Shurtleff College. He had to deal with another problem, although he was a reasonably healthy child. Wadlow suffered from a loss of sensation in his legs and feet as a result of his immense height. Nevertheless, he tended to walk by himself, never using a wheelchair. Robert Wadlow was noticed by the Ringling Brothers and their traveling circus in 1936. They realized he was going to make an interesting addition to their show, so he was picked up by them. The world's tallest man drew huge crowds at the shows, rapidly shooting him up to celebrity status. Two years later, Wadlow was offered a position by the Peters Display company to become the face of the firm. He promoted the brand and got free of charge all of his specially made size 37AA (European size 75) shoes.\n\nHis papa had to change the family car to drive across the country by removing the passenger seat so that he could sit in the back and stretch out his legs. To walk correctly, Robert's legs were fitted with braces. While they helped him to stand upright, his weakness was also the braces. He did not note that the braces were rubbing against his ankle because of the lack of sensation in his legs. A blister developed and became infected in 1940. Doctors had to resort to emergency surgery and blood transfusions. Sadly, Robert's giant height left him with a compromised immune system as well. It reached 10 feet 9 inches in length and weighed 453.59 kg. It took 12 men, helped by another 8 assistants, to bring it out of the funeral. There were thousands of people at the funeral to mourn him. While Robert Wadlow died at only 22 years of age, he is still remembered. Although, he lived as an outcast, kai was determined to repay the love he received from mika and her father, whatever the cost.\n\nLord kira, master of the rival province Nagato plotted to kill lord asano and have control over Ako. Mika's father was bewitched by lord kira's witch concubine, and committed seppuku. The masterless samurais were banished from the fortress, and oishi was thrown into the dungeon, and kai was sold into slavery in the dutch island.\n\nA year later,oishi was freed and went on to free kai from the dutch island.
