bodyNow, this might be because I muted the video and skipped through reading the captions after the "epic" music and the repetition of the word "pseudoscience" got too annoying half way through, but I can't even tell what the change was. Is the wayback machine screencap meant to be "after" or "before"? Who knows? Either way, treating an edit to the definition at the top of a wikipedia article as being an attempt to change the definition of the term, as if wikipedia's editors have that much power is, well, as ridiculous as I'd expect from the things a flat-Earther says.

And, more broadly, you're just giving what reads like the flap copy of these anime under your listings, in a top 10 list you're supposed to summarise your opinion of the anime and why you've placed it where it is.

bodyThat would only be true is you only saw one hemispherical section of the night sky per night. Obviously, the Earth is still rotating at night (or, however flat-Earthers explain how the stars move at night), and so you see more than that. So, actually, the prediction to make from the diagram here is that the specific part of the night sky that you don't see because the Sun's in the way would be the exact opposite on one side of the year as on the other. So what do you think "the Sun is in Capricorn" means?

body- The weight of the air molecules pulling it down towards Earth and the atmospheric pressure pushing it out into space is at equilibrium. - I don't know what "vaulted" is supposed to mean here (what do arches have to do with anything?) but the relevant principles can be shown by laboratory experiment. - Water in a rotating tank takes on a parabolic shape, due to centrifugal force. It does not magically stay level regardless of what forces are there, it takes a shape determined by the forces acting on it, which in the case of the Earth's oceans is mostly gravity. - The centrifugal force from rotating once per day is not that big, even if the resulting lateral velocity is high. - It's tidally locked. If it was *stationary*, we would see a different side of the moon once a month. - It isn't, light being cooler than shade is impossible. - Everyone should question what they're taught, and science encourages this, but some people end up going down confused paths and come back asking really dumb questions like "why is moonlight cooler than shade?" - It sure would be interesting to see if anything in the scriptures suggests an experiment that can be performed in a laboratory, but it would *probably* just look like fedora-tipping atheists flogging a dead horse.

bodyYou can determine the relative position between the ground you're standing on and an object in the sky by looking at it. That's enough to invalidate models that are clearly wrong about the relative position of the sun at sunset, such as this one. It may be possible to create a flat-earth model of how the sun works that explains time zones and seasons while also allowing for sunrises and sunsets. If it's not, then that's the other premise we need to start inferring facts about the shape of the Earth from looking at the sun. I don't really care to try that now, I'm just dunking on a particularly ridiculous model.

bodyWhat extreme hatred? You're already distinguishing ridicule and frustration as separate things; is there even anything left after that? I mean, some people can get really fired up by that kind of frustration (e.g. Richard Dawkins found out creationism was still a thing and has stayed mad about it for 30+ years), and ridicule always means some level of contempt, but hatred? I don't think so.

bodySo, [here's the actual page](https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83025121/1907-01-11/ed-1/seq-2/) for that map at the top of the post; the actual content of the article is in accordance with [Betteridge's law of headlines](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge%27s_law_of_headlines). Obviously the main post here goes *waaaay* past the question of the authenticity of an anachronistic map, but I'm not even going to try with that stuff. Really old newspapers are a fascinating lens on history, and much more worth reading than conspiracy-theory free-association, except at the higher ranks of such performance art e.g. Time Cube.

body1. Earth's bodies of water are indeed mostly level, which in a spherical frame of reference means the surface is the same distance from the centre of the Earth wherever you are. But if you want to try to flatten the world with definitions and etymology, it bears mentioning that the latin for "level" is "libella". 2. Air has weight, the pressure of air at ground level is from the weight of all the air above it. A gas that has weight can only expand until its internal pressure and its weight are in equilibrium. Even if you pretend gravity isn't real and why anything weighs anything is a complete mystery, there's still no reason to expect the atmosphere to fly off into space. 3. What two opposing systems, what the hell are you talking about? 4. Sure, yeah, there's no proof the Earth rotates except for all the proof you've decided doesn't count or isn't real. Or the evidence that you pretend has a better flat-Earther explanation than the real explanation. 5. Same response as 4. 6. Again, same response as 4. And, weirdly, the actual linked video doesn't even mention any of those numbered points, it's got an even stupider argument, "these two numbers have a relationship with each other and add to something interesting, therefore Earth is fake". Like, at least denying evidence bears some resemblance to a logical argument, this is pathetic.

bodyActually LADBIBLE used this photo on Facebook along with an article to say this was proof the earth is round. I've seen video footage from several sources of weather balloons past the 110,000 foot mark that shows no curve. Also there is the Red Bull sky dive from space footage that gives a great example of both fish-eye and non-fish-eye lenses at the same altitude, fisheye lens is the only way to produce that curve.

bodyThe fact that some guy taking a selfie on Mt. Everest used a fisheye lens is not exactly a devastating argument against the Earth being round - if some idiot used the photo as "proof the Earth is round" then yeah you've got proof that they're either an idiot or it's a joke you're not getting, but that doesn't exactly prove anything. But what you **do** have there is a compelling argument against every flat-Earther who asks "why can't we see the curve?" - I mean, anyone can tell them that at relatively low altitudes there really shouldn't be much of any visible curvature, but this is a really good illustration of how low your expectations should be for e.g. the curvature in weather balloon photos.
