It allows the viewer to feel all the ways that we are really all the same.  And it also gives one a perspective into all of the ways that we are different by means of our trauma.  One can easily see that given the same circumstances they would find themselves with the same result.  One also realizes that hate breeds hate and some of the people make a choice to stop the cycle.  What is it that allows one to think outside of the cycle of hate.  To step out of something so traumatic such as having your family murdered in front of you and chosing forgiveness. \n\n\nThere is a story of a man who was beaten by his father and told that he did that because he loved  him.  The man was speaking from living in prison with a life sentence.  He tells that for the longest time he thought that love was supposed to hurt.  He ended up so lost in his trauma that he murdered his wife and child.  He says that he was given a chance to know what love is finally when the mother of dead wife granted him forgiveness and taught him what love  really is.  Not even one moment in his life had he felt this kind of love, and he was pushed so far.  \n\nAnother story of a soldier who  was killed in combat and was the  only child.  His Sergeant started  calling her every year on his birthday and every holiday and it grew into a relationship to where he ended up telling his daughter that this woman was  her grandmother.  The speaker ends by stating “that’s what family means”.  What compelled him to do that?\n\nThrough out the film my heart is alive with such questions, and I will admit, the viewing is not easy.  It is mostly tragedy that is focused on which I am not a fan of, obviously. \nThis film was actually recommended by a friend of mine who seems to focus on everything that is wrong with the world and how   to fix it.  Fitting recommendation. \n\nOverall, I appreciate the concept of the film but feel the execution could have highlighted some of the more rich aspects of humanity instead of the fallouts.",

She kills a little more  time in train station before sitting down at the stop and reading some news on her cell phone.  A boy sits down next to her and to her amazement begins to open her packet of cookies and eats them one by one. Thinking she cannot just let it go she reaches down and takes a cooking staring deeply and forcefully at the boy.  He returns her hatred but laughing and smiling and continues to eat the cookies.  She eats one, them him, then her, then him… until one cookie remains.  The boy takes the cookie in his had, again smiling and laughing in joy and splits it directly down the middle.    He then hands half of the perfectly split cookie to her and eats his half with a smile.  \nShe takes hers and wolfs it down with a frown.  \nAt last, the train arrives.  She stands without a word to the boy and brushes herself free of the crumbs and races back angrily to her seat.  As she is getting settled she notices the boy, joyfully sitting down with that  stupid smile on his face. \n\nSometime passes and she thinks to have the juice she purchased.  She reaches into her purse and to her surprise finds an unopened package of cookies.  Untouched and perfect.  \n\nWhat is the lesson of this story?\n\nTo me, the boy and woman were both faced with the same situation and each had a different response.  The boy thought the lady was eating his cookies and she thought the  same of him.  It seems  in life you have a choice with each moment to interpret it with joy or with  fear.  Which ever one you choose is  what you will experience.",

Will  Ferrels performance is singular.   Will plays the character of Armando Alverez. \n\nThis film is set in Mexico  on a Ranch/Hacienda.   Armando is one of two sons of a single father.  As it turns out Armando’s mother died during his childbirth.  This is something that Armando’s  father blames him for and resents him through out the film.  His father says very insulting things to him through out the film about his intelligence and bad looks, he tells him that he resents him being born.  This Armando seems to take in stride and continues living as though it had not been said  which is part of the film’s hilarity. \n\nArmando’s brother is a Narco and is his father’s pride and joy, but ends up getting the family into some serious trouble when he moves in on another Cartel’s territory.  \n\nWith out giving too much of the plot away suffice it to say that this is one of the most  entertaining and funny comedies that I have ever seen.  Part of the hilarity of this film is that Will Ferrel  plays a Mexican in it.  Given the fact that he is so white and strange looking compared to those who are given to be his family members it is really funny.   I do realize that there are light skinned Mexicans, but it’s just really funny in the context of the film.  Additionally, Will Ferrel’s lines  in the entire film are in Spanish!  And he does a fantastic job!  Way to go Will Ferrel.  He is a genius. For that  reason I have probably seen it over 10 times because when I  introduce it to a friend that has  never seen it, of  course I  must watch it with them.   Whats better than watching the film is watching your friends reaction to the film and sharing in a moment of authentic laughter together.",

There is this fisherman who is great at catching fish.  He wakes early and is back to shore with his catch by the late morning and does this each day.  Consistently bringing back his earnings.  A banker who is staying at a near by resort takes notice of his talent for catching fish and strikes up a conversation asking him if he is happy.  The fisherman describes his life to the banker.  He tells him; I wake each morning, fish for a couple of hours and I am back with plenty of time to spend with my wife and children.  Each day after lunch I take a siesta under the palms, then I have my dinner with a small glass of wine and play music with my friends.  \n\nThe banker tells the man he could have so much more if he had more boats he could bring in more money.  Then manage a business and buy a bigger house.  The fisherman is not convinced.  He sees in this scenario he will not be coming home and enjoying his wife and kids, taking a siesta, and playing music with his friends.   He will be working hard for what.  For exchanging his life.  \n\nI was talking with a girlfriend this evening about this friend of hers that is tremendously wealthy and yet feels like something is missing.  \n\nIt occurred to me that it is often said that the impovershed people are unlucky because they don’t have the  same opportunities.  I considered taking the same perspective for the rich.  In a way, they are trapped in their own paradigm. The Buddha takes us on a journey through time following the life and teachings of Siddhartha.  The film also examines the basic tenants of buddhism and gives some insight into the basic  teachings. \n\nNearly two hours in length you will be entertained the whole time.  There are interview excerpts from quite a few notable people  including, physicists, poets, the Dali Lama, monks, authors, and nuns.   Through out the film there are gorgeous animations flowing with beautiful, symbolic imagery.  The viewer is left both informed and inspired.  \n\n\"What he actually said was that life is blissful. There’s joy everywhere only we’re closed off to it. His teachings were actually about opening up the joyful or blissful nature of reality, but the bliss and the joy is in the transitoriness.” Mark Epstein.\n\nSome people critisize and misunderstand Buddhism to indicate that pleasurable things should be avoided.  This is not true at all. The Buddha is not a person.  The Buddha is with in you, the teachings of the Buddha are with in you.   \n\n\nOne thing I didn’t realize is the Buddha allowed women to become nuns during a time when it was very radical to give women freedom.  Many of the women that joined the path with the Buddha’s teaching were escaping frightening conditions in their home lives and the Buddha gave them a refuge.  This is still true today.   Many nuns enter the monastery for safety and security.  \n\nThe film concludes with the Buddhas  death.   I did not realize that the way the Buddha died around age 80 (which is very old age since we are  talking 500 years before Christ)  that he was offered  spoiled food which he then ate.   It was said that he knew the food had gone bad, but accepted the offering.
