      "title": "Police Academy Review, Just Good Old Fashioned Comedy",
      "body": "Stop me if you have ever hard this saying before - they can’t make movies like that anymore. That pretty much sums up <em>Police Academy</em> in a single sentence without giving away any of the story. There are plenty of scenes in this movie that would never make it off the cutting room floor due to fear of offending someone. None of it is done with intent to hurt feelings or piss people off though, that is part of why it works so well even all these years later.\n\n<em>Police Academy</em> follows the adventures of the latest group of misfits to enter the police training program. We get to meet many of the trainers along with the trainees - even some of their families make appearances to flesh out this group of rejects all around.\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/4NT4C1F_HZE\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\nMichael Winslow definitely steals scenes that he is in, even when he is only a background character of those scenes. His oral control is astounding and makes for some incredibly funny moments. One scene has him imitating gaming sounds while playing an imaginary video game late at night. What makes this scene funny is Lieutenant Harris (resident jerk instructor) is patrolling the halls of the men’s dormitory. His reaction is priceless as Winslow continues to play the imaginary game unaware of his fan.\n\nThen there is Hightower, a former florist, who is absolutely huge - in one scene, he flips a police cruiser over. He is soft spoken and easy going, follows orders, and plays an instrumental role in many scenes. Including one with slight racist underpinnings.\n\nA movie like Police Academy is hard to review without ruining it. So, following my past process of not discussing anything beyond the half way point in any detail is in play here. If you have read my past reviews of movies then you know what to expect.\n\nEarly on we meet the various characters, Mahoney for instance is the star of the movie and is a laid back loner through and through. That is until he meets Cadet Thompson (played by Kim Cattrall) and is smitten of sorts. Thompson is entering the academy from a life of luxury because she wants excitement and to meet new people. Hightower is bored with being a florist and wants more out of life and then you have the meek characters such as Cadet Barbara (played by Donovan Scott) and Cadet Hooks (played by Marion Ramsey), and Cadet Fackler (played by Bruce Mahler).\n\nIt is in these meek characters that we are introduced to some of the funniest moments of <em>Police Academy</em>.\n\nThe movie is not perfect but it is quite funny. Definitely worthy of watching if you have never seen it. There are many sequels that are funny for their own reasons.       "body": "I have been quite upfront about my use of this second account, from day one. I am not changing that. My two accounts will not mix here on Steemit, nor will I begin self upvoting from either account. No, the not so easy choice to make is changing direction for this account. \n\nWhen I signed up with this account the intent was to make available content that is in the public domain and available for free to anyone that wishes to use it, view it, do whatever with it.\n\n![Captain-Marvel-Official-Trailer.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWb5yurS7pi9vbenvgvuhTypejvTeArcEk5XGC2QcXocg/Captain-Marvel-Official-Trailer.jpg)\nImage still from Captain Marvel trailer\n\nAs you can see from my posting history here, it has been extremely slow and very far between posts. \n\nThis is because of the sheer amount of time it takes to vet something as truly public domain. This was something I should have seen before making this account but it slipped by due to me wearing rose colored glasses at the time.\n\nI reached out to a few sites that make available public domain content and inquired about using it in articles here. Almost all replied with a resounding “no” and that they have altered the content in some minor way to verify someone stole their version.\n\nMuch like map makers will add a fake street, change an address or something as an undeniable proof of ownership, these sites were making similar claims. Maybe it was one frame of video in a two hour movie. Maybe it was a small group of pixels that would otherwise go unnoticed. Maybe in one of Shakespeare’s plays it was the swapping of two letters randomly on page nine.\n\nThat left me with no real way of knowing if the version I was making available here was the actual *public domain* version or if it was now a version that featured this undetectable copyright information.\n\nEven sites such as Project Gutenberg, who make content available for free, often have text files in the back that matter of factly state that the content can be used for free as long as there is no monetary gain. Considering Steemit offers monetary gain, I would not be able to *technically* use a Project Gutenberg version here.\n\nConsidering the name of this account is “PDE” it somewhat limits what I can do with it. Initially those letters stood for “Public Domain Entertainment”. Now I am forced to figure out something else for those letters to refer to.\n\nI settled on *Pretty Damn Entertaining* as the new meaning behind those letters. \n\nBasically, I am going to work to turn this account into an entertainment content creator - who knows, some of the stuff might be public domain and freely available. \n\nI know the way it is going right now, it is not working and I can either rework the account or let it become one of the many dormant accounts that pop up whenever the value of Steem and Steem Backed Dollars drops (but miraculously reappear when the value goes back up). This one will throw your kids off if they have never seen a silent film before. \n\nMovie here\n\n*The Lost World* is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book of the same name. This is a great one for fans of the giants of the Earth from days gone by. \n\nTelling the story of a group of explorers on their quest to prove that dinosaurs still walk the Earth. As with most expeditions like these things go wrong rather quickly and that is when the action picks up.\n\nFinally, we have *Plan 9 from Outer Space* - arguably the worst film ever made. It is also billed as the last appearance in a film by Bela Lugosi – though ironically, he never knew it was footage to be used here as it was filmed for another film.\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/vzrzxnPKLtA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\nThis movie is all about aliens that have a crazy plan, literally called “Plan 9”, to stop the people of Earth from creating a doomsday weapon. This weapon is feared to be big enough that it could destroy the universe. \n\nHow do the aliens plan to stop earthlings from creating this weapon? By raising the dead to cause chaos in hopes that the earthlings will then listen to reason. Um. Yeah.",
