| body | Thank you so much for sharing this amazing post with us! Have you heard about Partiko? It’s a really convenient mobile app for Steem! With Partiko, you can easily see what’s going on in the Steem community, make posts and comments (no beneficiary cut forever!), and always stayed connected with your followers via push notification! Partiko also rewards you with Partiko Points (3000 Partiko Point bonus when you first use it!), and Partiko Points can be converted into Steem tokens. You can earn Partiko Points easily by making posts and comments using Partiko. We also noticed that your Steem Power is low. We will be very happy to delegate 15 Steem Power to you once you have made a post using Partiko! With more Steem Power, you can make more posts and comments, and earn more rewards! If that all sounds interesting, you can: - Download Partiko Android at [Google Play](http://bit.ly/2SRFIta) - Or Download Partiko iOS on the [App Store](https://apple.co/2PcXkSd) Thank you so much for reading this message! |

| body | Is our mindset in the way that we approach our creative pursuits. Do we have masses of ideas but end up doing none of them. Do we think to ourselves that we want to write, play music or draw and paint but have to be in the right mood? Over the last four years, I have built up an artist practice that is now beginning to expand. It is based around doing something every day. More and more this is becoming focussed on sharing what I am learning whilst I am learning it. In a sense becoming an expert and conveying the journey as a point of reference for anyone who is also wanting to do a similar shift. It is easy to have many ideas and not take action. Equally, it is possible to take a lot of action and seemingly see no progress. Through taking action though we open up closed doors and make connections that we wouldn’t make with the absence of doing stuff. So my journey in this phase of my life began with writing a poem a day and then publishing it. I now have a significant number of poems that I can review and edit. In other words a content resource I can use and refer to when I have those days where nothing seems to be happening. That is the secret I am sharing. If you take action and do something that is new or created every day you will naturally become more focused on what it is you actually want to contribute or share. Finally, it is the sharing that is important. Through this generosity, you will manifest the aspects that you need to make the whole process sustainable Patrick Turner-Lee |

| body | Whipped in chains. Emotionally stale; Like breadcrumbs, scattered on a hot tin roof. For cats to paw: Touching paper, feeling scorched. Left to my own devices Leaping from trumped-up barges On a river of discontent Filling a larder with bullets Shot for a purpose. Crushed into a soluble escape mechanism: Just wishing with lively lighthouse keepers. Washed away, in waves of passing greetings. Gesturing in a gentle way; Whilst living life with sequins that sparkle against pink plastered walls. The old lady knits Two perfect jumpers in tandem Released from prisms of light Reflected on the tarnished mirror Beacons lit to describe the neighbour's vision Too hard to resist the soft dressed mistress Anchor revealed And set in timeless motion Copyright Patrick Turner-Lee 31th August 2015 |

| body | We may well be familiar with the aspect of resistance when endeavouring to open up pathways in our efforts to connect with others. This can depend on how much we try to keep our doors open. It becomes increasingly difficult to ascertain whether there is even a door that is closed. So our feelings can lead us astray or be a helping hand it seems. The bold moves made to create value can often mask my sensibilities. Then I feel frustrated and choked. Mistaking this feeling for resistance drives me into further despair. Indeed the negative streaks in my personality hinder my progress and seem to colour my responses. Somehow I am beginning to fathom that these challenging feelings are as important as the ones of triumph that I discern after the completion of a difficult task. All of these aspects involved in a creative project are a perfect mirror for all of our daily lives. Generally, my lack of clarity manifests as a confusion of thought. When we consider that all of us are connected already and that it is a matter of delusion that leads us to believe that this is not the case, our judgements evolve into a broader perspective. When we open our doors we begin to feel the state of others. We can become conduits for pain and if we are aware of this then we may be able to transform this pain into understanding. Moving from our self to an awareness of the congruency of our existence in relation with everything around us helps us to move from ignorance and even arrogance to a gradual appreciation of life itself. For me, the activity of painting pictures is an activity that mysteriously connects me with the universe. Of course, I am already a microcosm of the galaxies as are all the people and phenomena around me. The dynamic between life and death is acting out in all my actions on a daily basis. From hope to despair to hope again. Awake and then asleep are we mostly enacting this bold drama of life and death. How amazing to be alive and to be able to witness this incredible reality we are in. Patrick Turner-Lee copyright 2018 |

We can become conduits for pain and if we are aware of this then we may be able to transform this pain into understanding.\n\nMoving from our self to an awareness of the congruency of our existence in relation with everything around us helps us to move from ignorance and even arrogance to a gradual appreciation of life itself.\n\nFor me, the activity of painting pictures is an activity that mysteriously connects me with the universe. Of course, I am already a microcosm of the galaxies as are all the people and phenomena around me. The dynamic between life and death is acting out in all my actions on a daily basis.\n\nFrom hope to despair to hope again. Awake and then asleep are we mostly enacting this bold drama of life and death. How amazing to be alive and to be able to witness this incredible reality we are in.\n\nPatrick Turner-Lee\ncopyright 2018",

| body | The more I investigate what I actually do while I am painting, the more amazed I become. Certain realisations float to the surface of my conscious mind. All day long thoughts are pulsing between the synapses related to aspects of my emotional and physical relationship with the world I live in. Often these thoughts involve an amount of integrity that has developed within human relationships throughout the whole of my life. At times, certain feeling reminds me of events that either conjure up good or bad energies. Whilst painting these responses continue. Whatever tasks we are involved in during our daily lives are channels that have an impact on this stream reality that colour our day. As I paint and look at an object for inspiration the temptation to follow my intellectual understanding of that object tries to take the driving seat. If I busy myself applying the paint, I don’t calculate the outcome with my thinking mind. In this way, I get better results. Could this be instinct? Or is it reflex? I am not really sure, to be honest. What I do know that generally, everything I see is an illusion. The illusion is never the same from one minute to the next. Logically, this is due to light change amongst many other things. To build up an impression of dark and light helps me begin to create an image that defines an idea of the object that I am observing. The pulsating genius of life is an exciting reality and the art of painting is a fantastic way to build a new relationship with the universe that we are part of. Patrick Turner-Lee |

Balanced in strength Bled creaming, sweat pouring mercilessly towards machines Delivered in bites of missed opportunities. It’s over before it’s begun The battles not won A rift in the sand The wind to drift. Together in no time; The chasm is forgotten Or did it exist, Imagination A memory, a thought, an illusion. | body | Interesting things and confusing times with so much information at our fingertips. We hear about amazing things that we can do. Now we have an opportunity like never before. To live our lives in a way that is true and meaningful This common thread of conversation is beginning to wear thin. So often the different and extraordinary way that we operate as human beings halts our progress. My progress today certainly feels sluggish. When I decided to write about the can’t word it took effect. This being in complete accord with the sentiments I am talking about. The word can’t, or cannot is a powerful affirmation. Gradually the closer I inch towards my inner connection with this stopping action the more evidence I can show of feeling as if a door has been firmly closed in front of me. Naturally, in the process of expanding life and stepping closer to living in a way that is true to myself, I will be faced with the can’t command. I am gently nudging and negotiating deep feelings of exhaustion. For me, today is a manifestation of the internal power of the can’t word. As I struggle to even talk about the way I feel, the resistance is gradually diminishing. Could be, that now I remember, any task of meaning is accompanied by the necessity to strive. Also, why develop a dialogue about resistance without experiencing it. It is resistance that enables a plane to take off and stay in the sky. The next conundrum is whether we are doing the right thing or not. The inertia that we can sometimes feel is very real and an obstacle that can qualify our actions. Without building a foundation of experience success may be an elusive dream. The can’t word is where we find that indeed yes we can do this. We can open the shut door. Patrick Turner-Lee |

| body | Pier Pressure ptlpaintings.com Are you grabbed by the title of this short article? Already interested in the notion that you can be motivated. What is this motivation in creativity anyway? I am a visual artist. To be precise, I have developed a practice in painting. When I do something, I prefer to go further than dabble. I have met many hobbyists who are creating extraordinary work. They prefer to not be public in their endeavours. This maybe is due to the success that they already enjoy in other areas of their life. So, what 3 things help motivate me in my creative process. 1. While painting, I am continually inspired by the moments of magic that happen. This can be complete absorption in the process. Then I experience time in what I like to call the zone. Have you seen the film “Stalker” by Andrei Tarkovsky? The zone is central to the story. I just want to be in the zone time and again. The time in it is not always totally successful by any means. The sensation whilst visiting is often a motivating experience. 2. To be able to make a painting that resembles an object is another great motivation. So to pursue a painting until I feel satisfied with the result motivates me to get in front of the canvas and keep working on the relationship that I am building with the work. The idea of an art practice is useful. Possibly the notion of practice makes perfect is not so useful. This is where my third motivating factor comes into play. 3. Sharing my work with others is proving to be a limitless source of encouragement. Talking with and connecting with like minding creative communities and growing a network of friends who are interested in my creations is proving to be invaluable. In isolation, it is very easy to develop a distorted perspective. Using the internet improves my output. By selling work, the value for others becomes clear. This is another great motivating force to continue the creative process. It helps me to have projects to complete. The more tasks that I set, for example, a number of paintings to complete, the more paintings I complete. Seems obvious, but it is easy to let life get in the way. All of the sudden your area of activity becomes a pile of cobwebs and can go back to the cupboard where it came from. Let’s just do it !!! Patrick Turner-Lee www.ptlart.com |

Ears of corn Born to remember Because it is simple; you can. Flash a light in the eyes of a running rabbit Reflecting the lost moments The passing thoughts. Drifting out to sea On a carefully crafted paper raft. Water lapping around dampening spirits Chilling wind biting at frozen dreams. Crushed tins rattling in a jar Brushing cauldrons of oil rags burning Competing with clouds and rainfall How we wish the spell had been broken. Getting to go in crushed velvet sequins Leaving the suit for the moment That’s what the tinder box is saying. | body | I am not a physicist but an artist who is increasingly fascinated by the response to linear time in my practice. So, there is a time for everything? We can become obsessed with completing tasks and goals at the expense of aspects of parts of our character. Perhaps those qualities that support our wellbeing. Indeed our driven approach may well get the upper hand in our creative pursuits as well. Instead of trusting a process, we may find ourselves pushing to finish a piece of work. We forget to give time a chance. Breathing between brush strokes is so important to the finished painting. Stepping back, establishing a relationship with the canvas, is as vital as the time spent painting. These ideas can manifest in my daily life. To step back when I need the wisdom to say the next words in a conversation. As we pursue our dreams, we can have a long list of tasks to complete. Like a jigsaw, we sometimes can't seem to make the piece fit. However, if we make sure we keep it safe, at some time later we will find the right place for it. Let's learn to trust the process of life and live in rhythm with it rather than thinking that we need to drive results based on our impatience and anxiety. | body | Being open is a challenging subject in the field of creativity. It’s easy to create a place that becomes safe, even within the parameters of being outside a comfort zone. What is comfortable for one person, is not for the next. However, a common reality is echoed in understanding that to create is to put something new into existence. So what constitutes new? Perhaps any creation can be deemed as not existing before and so it could be suggested that it is new. The moment or collections of moments that constitute the time that the object or idea took to form will involve a combination of events that could never happen again. So the philosophical intrigues are many. A vulnerability is often a condition that one experiences during activities within the creative process Most of us common mortals feel ill at ease in the state of vulnerability. So what is this? For me, as I suggested earlier, the state of ease is found in patterns of behaviour that I am familiar with. Developing a balanced approach to the creative process is difficult to sustain. Could this be partly due to the fact that a new moment can be one that we have not experienced before? The nature of a creative moment at times will be an attempt at an already trodden path. For example, whilst making a painting I can revisit marks on a canvas many times before really securing a relationship with that mark and henceforth establishing a congruent relationship between myself and the object that I am creating. So am I vulnerable at that point? I feel that I am certainly open. I would like to conclude that the idea of being open is more in tune with the creative process. Am I open to your ideas? | body | All the hype around fake news over the last couple of years. Is this a culmination or a manifestation of a reality that we have been subject to for most of my life? It is clear when we investigate any socio-political situation it is inevitably a result of an incredible malaise of complex human relationships. Indeed does not history show us that it is the frailty of the human condition that colours decisions and outcomes in all of our days to day encounters. So what isn't fake news? How often are we subject to an edited version of life? In fact, it would be difficult to condense into a few paragraphs of journalism lifetimes of incorrect behaviours that have led to the plethora of global suffering that we witness today. So surely it is our ability to develop the wisdom to take the news with a pinch of salt; recognising that it is a reflection of societies inability to take extreme ownership for the causes that generations of human beings have made. Sure we can write masses of article and essays justifying the actions of our forefathers or condemning them. The best way to move forward I feel is for me to become aware of the part that I play in the world and do my best to be open and able to have meaningful dialogue with the person standing in front of me. This needs to be with the awareness that my opinions and understanding are as flawed as anybody's; due to the overarching reality that my ability to grasp the intensity and depth of situations is naturally limited. In conclusion, maybe it is more accurate to recognise that "fake news" is made for fakes. Let's treasure the person in front of us and own up to our desire to help each other improve the lot for the future generations by listening and moving forward instead of criticising and complaining |
