He has been charged with misleading large investors who committed nearly $2 billion to the exchange in recent years, regarding the financial health of the trading platform and its sister crypto trading platform Alameda Research.\n\nThe SEC said that in his representations to investors, Bankman-Fried promoted FTX as a “safe, responsible crypto asset trading platform,” and specifically touted its “sophisticated, automated risk measures to protect customer assets.”\n\nIn reality, the complaint alleges, FTX’s founder “orchestrated a years-long fraud to conceal from FTX’s investors the undisclosed diversion of FTX customers’ funds to Alameda Research” and the “undisclosed special treatment afforded to Alameda on the FTX platform.”\n\nThat special treatment included a virtually unlimited line of credit funded by FTX’s customers and exempting the trading firm from key risk mitigation measures.\n\nFTX did not disclose its exposure to Alameda’s “significant holdings of overvalued, illiquid assets such as FTX-affiliated tokens.”\n\nThe SEC’s complaint also alleges Bankman-Fried used comingled user funds at Alameda to make “undisclosed venture investments, lavish real estate purchases, and large political donations.”",

Sounds like a lot, but we’ve merely scratched the surface. There will be more and more brands venturing into the token space to start or boost their loyalty programs with a token strategy.\n\n2️⃣ Coinbase just dropped cbETH. Coinbase announced a new token - cbETH, a liquid staking token. When you stake ETH with Coinbase, you’ll get cbETH back. You can sell it, transfer it, or use it anywhere else in DeFi. For example, you can stake cbETH to get even more rewards.\n\nCoinbase is now on par with all of the other big players that allow users to get liquid ETH while you stake. A well known example is stETH with Lido. Similarly, cbETH gives users liquidity and lets them earn rewards while their ETH is staked and locked.\n\n3️⃣ According to Blockdata, 40 of the top 100 public companies have invested ~$6b into web3 companies between September 2021 and June 2022. Google came in top in total funding (~$1.5b). Samsung made the most investments totaling ~$1b with 13 investments.\n\n$100 Billion Creator Economy 🦄\nRecently, Antler’s Ollie Forsyth published a report titled “Investing in the $100 Billion Creator Economy” offering guidance to founders on what to expect when they start, grow, and scale their creator economy startups. A couple learnings we want to highlight are:\n\nModern creator economy platforms need to build for scale. To achieve that, you need to consider features such as:\n\nGlobal accessibility\n\nCreator collabs and content bundles\n\nLimited take rates\n\nOwnership of a creator’s community data\n\nAdditional revenue streams (community tokens, live commerce, etc.)\n\n\nThe top 1% of creators currently earn most of the revenue, but the creator middle class is catching up.       "body": "Leading digital asset management firm Grayscale Investments LLC has been on the receiving end of questions posed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over the firm's “securities law analysis” of tokens which appear in some of its lesser known trusts.\n\nThe SEC’s questioning highlights the firm's continued harsh regulatory stance toward digital assets as they continue to crack down on tokens they believe should be subject to U.S. securities laws. In this instance, the disclosures appear in filings for the Stellar (XLM), Zcash (ZEC) and Horizen (ZEN) trusts.\n\nGrayscale first revealed the regulatory back-and-forth in filings made on June 28th, in which the asset manager states that “SEC staff has not provided any guidance as to the security status of” ZEN, ZEC, and XLM. In August 16th filings, however, Grayscale states that it “has received a memorandum regarding the status of [ZEN, ZEC and XLM] under the federal securities laws from its external securities lawyers.” \n\nGrayscale, which is a subsidiary of the Digital Currency Group, is one of the largest asset managers in the crypto space, with roughly $18.7bn AUM from funds and trusts. Its ZEC, ZEN, and XLM holdings equate to a combined holding of roughly $40m. Back in November, VanEck’s previous application was denied citing concerns surrounding “fraud and manipulation” of the Bitcoin spot market. I went through the top 100 and couldn’t find a single cryptocurrency that was held longer than Cardano. Bitcoin ($BTC.X) was the longest at 133 days, after Cardano at 156 days. \n\nThat brings us to demand. The number of Cardano wallets passed 3.5 million. There were 2.5 million ADA wallets in December 2021 and 3 million in February. One of the ugliest bear markets in crypto history failed to dissuade half a million new wallets from being created. \n\nWhat’s the ‘bad’ data? The Vasil hard fork was delayed again. But for Cardano’s development team, this is par for the course. Few development teams are more strict and critical of their updates.\n\nFinally, the development of Cardano’s network continues to expand. According to on-chain analytics giant, Santiment, Cardano was already the most developed and active blockchain in 2021 and is continuing that trend into 2022.",
