      "body": "Crypto is to the stock market what McDonald's is to food. McDonald's is unhealthy but fills you up (hopefully); crypto is risky (up for debate) but makes you money. I'm not well educated in the world of economics and finance nor have I been in the crypto scene for more than a couple of months in total (I had an off and on relationship with crypto starting 2013 when BTC was a mere 300-400 dollars), but I like to think crypto is a faster and more 'brutal' version of the stock market. Hence the title of this post.\n\nCrypto is rapid. Prices fluctuate like crazy and it feels like you're playing the stock market on a high. And because of this fluctuation and lack of laws many experts and who wah has deemed the crypto market to be risky, and that the best option is to stay clear of it altogether. But the temptation of money and the fear of missing out make a powerful combo in alluring wandering speculators. \n\nThe best thing to do right now, in my opinion, is to go for it. Invest in some crypto and play with it. I'm sure it'll entice you to learn about the stock market and how basic trading, economics, and finance works in unison. Just remember and acknowledge that crypto is like the fast food version of the stock market. It's probably not good for your money (there are scams out there and a lack of regulation), but who cares. Go in and have some fun and learn. Maybe even earn a few bucks.",

The 2015 finals had 36 million, followed by 43 million in 2016, and then lastly, 60 million for this year. Many news outlets compare the figures to the viewership for NBA finals so no doubt these numbers are impressive. But what's fundamentally wrong with the competitive scene if viewership is steadily increasing and the old promotion and relegation system is being replaced by a franchised league in the NA LCS?\n\nIn my opinion, it's still the lack of competition and infrastructure. More specifically lack of international competition and lack of development of esports in other regions outside of China, Korea and North America. Outside of regional leagues and occasional tournaments, MSI, and maybe Worlds if teams are able to qualify, there's almost nothing to participate in. This makes progression slow and yet we were fortunate enough to see Gigabyte Marines perform greatly against teams like Immortals and Fnatic at Worlds. But they're the outlier. Most wildcard teams lose in horrendous fashion albeit putting up a fight in maybe one or two games. \n\nI often make the comparison to CS:GO's competitive scene. Yes they might not have the same viewership numbers as League does, but what they do have is a vast selection of tournaments for teams to qualify and participate in, both online and offline. This creates awareness and excitement for lesser known teams and even creates massive underdogs for bigger tournaments. CS:GO still has their majors every year and yet they trust third parties to host their own smaller competitions. I don't see why Riot needs to be so strict on competition. What they're doing is counterproductive. They should lead the way in encouraging regions to host more regional tournaments in addition to hosting more international tournaments. Fans want to see new teams. Fans want Riot to bring excitement back into the game.\n\nI do think the fix is a very simple one. Riot just needs to speak up more and loosen their grip on the competitive scene without being a dictator. I do hope more people can organise their own tournaments to bring competition to the next level.",

      "body": "I've played League since Season 4 after making the switch from Dota. I've spent a lot of time learning the MOBA genre while I was in Silver. And I spent 1000+ games in Silver before I made it out into Gold and then a further 100 or so games before Platinum. I'm currently in pursuit of Diamond but that's for another post.\n\nYou don't have to follow these tips but I strongly advise you to at least try them out and think a little bit as to where I'm even suggesting them in the first place.\n\n**Tip 1**\n**Find champions that are overpowered or can snowball easily.**\n\nPlay or find and learn someone who fits this description. I recommend **Sion** Top or Support and Annie in Mid/Support/Top. Sion's tanky and his bonus HP passive allows him to scale really well into mid/late game. Furthermore, he has insane amounts of crowd control which is helpful in skirmishes and teamfights. Then we have Annie. She has great csing with her Q and a point and click stun coupled with insane amounts of damage. She's great in skirmishes and teamfights as well, capable in bursting enemy carries and pumping out consistent damage. You play those two and I guarantee free LP. The point is for you to not only rely on what's going around as OP but to draw your own conclusion as to what will work for you.\n\n**Tip 2**\n**Make smarter decisions to minimize deaths.**\n\nIf you know you've pushed up for a while now, consider the fact that you might be getting ganked. Take a moment and maybe consider reducing the aggression and letting the wave push towards you. Otherwise ward up and be prepared for a potential 2v1 scenario.\n\n**Tip 3**\n**Know when to trade kills and when to bail.**\n\nThis overlaps the tip 2 but I think this deserves a section by itself. Take for example a 2v2 at botlane. Your ADC dies and you're in a position to get away but the thought of seeing a sub 20% ADC or Support tempts you to continue the fight. You try your luck and you die. So instead of a 1 for 0 trade, you increased the gold advantage even more by giving the enemy a 2 for 0 trade. And even if you secure the kill, bear in the mind who you're giving the gold to. The Support might not be as punishing as the ADC in lane but it depends on the matchup. Remember that if you're in a position where you're dead no matter what, you should always try and kill the lowest HP enemy. Otherwise just bail.\n\nEven if you don't see immediate results, these tips will train you into becoming a better player.",

I have a job albeit a low paying one. Around 13 AUD/hour to be exact. The goal this year was to find a full-time job in the IT industry while part-timing at a casual job. Unfortunately, I gave up on the former quite quickly and found myself staring into the abyss.\n\nI guess I lost track of who I am and who I wanted to become. Even though I disliked the below minimum wage, I was still somehow content with it that it wasn't enough to motivate me to search for better paying jobs elsewhere.       "body": "It's been 6 months since I graduated from university in <b> AUSTRALIA </b> in games development. It's been 8 months since I last did work on the capstone project and yet, I'm still scarred by the experience. \n\nThe project saw me team up with 4  other individuals in hopes of creating our very first FUN and PLAYABLE video game. We had 8 months of development time to conceptualise and produce our idea. There were great moments but there were also downright trashy moments too, and it really shattered everyone's morale. Every aspect of development was unorganised and chaotic, but it was a learning experience. Hopefully, I'll go into more detail about this chapter of my tertiary education another time but for now let's continue. The 'finished' product was far from polished and I know personally it was a terrible game. To even call it a game was an overstatement. It just wasn't fun.\n\nThe team then decided to continue working on the game after we had all graduated. The only problem was...we didn't. I'm sure everyone was burnt out from the 8 months of stress and wanted some downtime to relax. This went on for a very long time until I proposed a new direction for the development of the game with an old teammate. We had sketched some ideas and worked on some concepts but ultimately, still no signs of actual work. Fast forward a few months and here I am, in the same position but with a different person. This person was a great friend from high school and we were both looking to improve our own skills and to build something fun so we decided to tackle this head on.\n\nInstead of developing something new, I suggested we'd take the original game I had worked on and rework it into something entirely new. We agreed and we proceeded. We wrote down all the new additions and reworks we wanted the game to have and also set up a repository to keep track of our project files.\n\nI think this time might be it. I think we can make this crappy turn based strategy game into something enjoyable and something we'd be proud to tell people we worked on.\n\nBe sure to follow to keep updated on the development of this rework.
