| body | **The Optimistic** Only the optimistic make it by With love and light When it rains they revel the water When it shines they smile And the clouds are their friends Not worrying about who they might meet They’ll love you for what you do See the good in you I’m not one of them But I lie in awe of them Like stars that skirt the moon I wish I was them But a million light-years away I stand in humble fascination Pointing them out in rhymes In different times Drawing on their power To hope and to keep faith In this world and everyone A power so strong Enlightens these stars And their hope is where my dreams start. |

| title | **The Injured soldier** |
| body | **The Injured soldier** He fell, fell to the ground At the gunshot that created such a sound Nobody took notice of the injured soldier He was left there lying as the war grew thicker. He screamed from the pain growing in his shoulder Nobody realized the pain he would suffer Trampling feet and screams grew monotonous The injured soldier tried to ignore the pain that was so venomous. He made a decision for himself If he was to survive he'd have to help himself Nobody was going to come to his aid Not when each one was looking out for their own head. He winced in pain as he got to his feet He wouldn't give up now, not when he still had an army to beat His shoulder cried out to him in vain He had already chose to ignore the pain. He took his rifle up He adjusted his helmet and refused to give up He kept fighting till the war was over Each soldier fighting for their country, their home and their lover. When the war was done and the battle was won Every single soldier put down their gun the injured soldier's shoulder still bleeding now blinded him with pain and made him lose all feeling. This time they gave him attention This time he was treated to friendly affection He wondered what would have happened if had given up that night Would they have still won after all that fight? But he was glad he hadn't for he would have been seen As a pitiful injured soldier who wasn't keen. It's the choices we make And the chances we take That set us apart Only when, of course, the decision is made from the heart. |

| body | HERE ARE 8 EASY TIPS TO GET YOU OUT THE DOOR & LOOKING FLAWLESS 1. Prepare it – Clean skin is clear skin, so take the time to cleanse your skin well with a great quality cleanser. My preference is to always used an oil based cleanser as they offer deep cleaning & makeup removal in one step and leave behind cushioned, radiant skin. Not all oils are created equal, so please take care to read labels and use a cleanser that has high quality carrier oils and nourishing essential oils. Our fans out there know that the Hush + Dotti balm cleanser is like none other when it comes to deeply cleaning & clearing the skin without stripping it. 3. Protect it – Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! We can’t say it enough. Protecting your skin daily with a barrier of high quality sunscreen is the best defense against premature aging. Once the sun damage is done it is nearly impossible to undo. Invest in a superb sunscreen that is (please, please, please) not filled with chemicals. There are several on the market today that can offer you incredible sun protection without coating your fabulous face with unnecessary chemicals. I adore Coola and their products. I highly recommend their Cucumber Matte SPF30 2. Plump it – Moisturizers and other forms of hydration like face oils do something more than feel good and offer a cozy cushion to the skin. Hydration plumps up the surface of the skin giving a smoother, more even appearance. Plumping up the skin with a great moisturizer or face oil is the best way to start the day. The skin gets dehydrated as the day goes on simply from being on the go. Coffee & alcohol consumption along with neglecting our daily water intake will only make it worse. My all time favorite form of hydration is to use a face oil that leaves the surface of your skin non greasy & ready for makeup application. Face oils do not have the water content that cream based moisturizers do, so they pack more of a hydrating punch. This leaves the skin beautifully plumped and primed for makeup. We don’t call ours Dream Drops for nothin’! 5. Powder it – Be careful, this part can be very, very tricky. Powdering is not something that should happen automatically. Powder is something that asks for your respect and patience. Powder can be used to set the foundation, but again I would apply it mainly to the t-zone area. Leave your cheeks glowy. Powder is almost always something I reserve for TV, photography or those with very oily complexions. Powder is not something that should be painted on with a broad brush & used on everybody. Powder can work against you as much as it can work for you, so be smart in how you use it, when you use it and how much you use of it. 4. Perfect it – The two key products for perfecting the skin are concealer and liquid foundation. Concealer gets applied under the eye in a half moon shape, then gets blended in leaving a smooth & lifted appearance. Foundation gets applied mostly in the t-zone of the face (the forehead, nose & chin area form a “t” shape which is referred to as the t-zone) then gets blended down to the jawline from there. There should be very little foundation left to blend by the time you get to the jawline. The t-zone is often the reddest or most uneven part of the face, so that’s why we start there and concentrate the coverage in that area. Take care not to overdo the foundation. Use a sponge or a foundation brush. When you’re done, your skin should look smooth and glowing, but most importantly it should look like skin and not makeup. Bronzer can be used to blend into the face to warm up the complexion. It’s also a great tool for making sure the face, neck and chest have the same coloring. While bronzer is an exceptional product you should refrain from trying to tint your skin to be significantly darker than it is naturally. That will leave you looking more like a cartoon character and less like the fierce babe that you are. 6. Pop it – While I realize that the Walking Dead is an enormously popular show, I am not an advocate of walking around in every day life looking like a zombie. For that reason I always like to infuse a healthy flush of color into the check area. Punching up the cheek color is the best way to brighten up the complexion to make you look awake, refreshed and ready for the day. I like to push the envelope here and suggest you opt for brighter tones than you may normally be comfortable with. Bright pinks, peachy corals and rich apricots are so flattering when used in the right measure. Got wicked allergies or a hangover? Make sure there’s plenty of blush on those cheeks. It’s one of my favorite tricks to wake up the complexion. 7. Pucker it – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a beautiful makeup application goes awry because someone has the gnarliest, driest, crustiest (yes I said it) lips. Our lips take a beating and can often be the most ignored part of the face. Exfoliate them gently with a washcloth and take care to hydrate them with a rich, nourishing lip balm. If you hate lip balm, then try a little lip gloss . Most good quality lip glosses have many of the same ingredients as lip balm does. They will provide you with a shine that will help to camouflage your dry flaky lips while they heal themselves into a better place. 8. Peace out – Pressed for time? Put your mascara on while riding the train. With your skin looking flawless, you barely need anything else to create a gorgeous look for whatever today throws at you. Grab your favorite scarf or pair of earrings and take that glow on the road. I am a fanatic for creating flawless skin and hope that these 8 quick and easy steps help you start your day off looking flawless, feeling fabulous and ready to rock ‘n’ roll. We love helping you get your glow on, so please email us at [email protected] with any questions about your skincare routine, your current skin concerns or for creating your every day flawless face. |

| title | Be Conscious Of Your Position In Christ |
| body | John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. In this verse, Jesus says, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” He did not say, “I am the vine, try to be the branches.” In other words, He wants us to realize that we are already the branches. We do not have to struggle to become the branches. As His branches, we only have to abide or remain in Christ our vine. How do we do that? We do that by simply being conscious every day of our position in Christ. Because we have received Christ, we are in Christ and are accepted in the Beloved. (2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 1:6) God accepts us because we are in the Beloved and He is in us. And that is how God sees us today when we come into His presence. What the devil wants to do then is to get you to focus on your condition instead of your position in Christ. The condition you are facing could be financial lack or deteriorating health. The devil wants you to focus on your condition and forget your position—that you are the righteousness of God in Christ and that you are seated with Him in heavenly places at the Father’s right hand. (2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 2:6) He wants you to forget that you are an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ. (Romans 8:17) The devil knows that once you focus on your position in Christ, it will give you the power to change your condition and circumstances. John 15:5 says that you will bear “much fruit”. This means that when you pray against any lack, abundant supply will flow. When you pray for healing, sickness will leave. My friend, none of these things can happen by your own doing, but by His life which flows through you. Just as sap flowing through the branches of a vine will cause them to bring forth fruit, His life flowing through you will bring forth a bountiful harvest of provision, healing and miracles. You only need to remain conscious of who you are in Christ! Remain conscious of who you are in Christ and you will bear much fruit. |

This means that when you pray against any lack, abundant supply will flow. When you pray for healing, sickness will leave.\n\nMy friend, none of these things can happen by your own doing, but by His life which flows through you. Just as sap flowing through the branches of a vine will cause them to bring forth fruit, His life flowing through you will bring forth a bountiful harvest of provision, healing and miracles. You only need to remain conscious of who you are in Christ!\nRemain conscious of who you are in Christ and you will bear much fruit.",

| title | Seven Keys to Hearing God's Voice |
| body | What am I going to do with the rest of my life? Where should I go to school? Should I take this job, or is there something better on the horizon? Who should I marry? Life is a never-ending series of choices. Can we know whether we are making the right decisions? Should we consult our horoscope? Maybe we should call the psychic hot-line? Do we go with what the experts are saying or rely on our gut-feeling? Should we look to the stars -- or should we seek the Maker of the stars? I recently received an e-mail in response to my article, The Harness of the Holy Spirit in which a CBN.com reader makes these thought-provoking statements: "Your article is typical of many books I have read. Everyone talks about doing what the Holy Spirit says, but you do not state how you 'know' it is the voice of GOD. I have yet to read any book or article that can lay that out. It is easy to say The LORD told me to leave this or do that, and I was blessed down the road because of it. Anyone who can present a way one can actually know that the voice they are hearing is from GOD, not man or Satan, would change the world. That's probably why the world hasn't changed." Well I have good news for my friend, and for you -- God wants to speak to us, and yes, you can 'know' that you hear His voice. God wants to fellowship and communicate with us. That's two-way communication. Why? Because you can't really have a relationship unless there is true dialogue. How do we get to know a person? By communicating with them. By talking and listening. It's the same with our relationship with God. He talks, we listen. We talk, He listens. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to take our place and to die for us. He did this so that we could once again have fellowship with Him. In the book of Hebrews we see that we can have access to God's very presence, "...having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way..." (Hebrews 10:19-20a). He also wants us to be fulfilled, blessed and successful in the plan that He has established for our lives -- so that we can be a reflection of His love and blessing in the Earth. In Jeremiah 29:11 the Lord makes clear His intentions for you and I, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." We see in Genesis 3:8a, "...they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day..." This is how God wants to relate to us today as well. It is God's desire to walk with and to communicate with His children. He wants to talk to us. And He wants us to listen and talk to Him, too. There is more good news -- we can hear His voice. The Bible, God's love letter to mankind, makes it clear that we were created to have two-way communication with Him. Jesus tells us in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." While in college I interned in video production at a local public television station. One day the producer and I traveled to a video shoot with a young woman who worked in the donor relations department. Along the way she told us that, at the urging of her father, she had recently purchased a flat with two apartments. Still uncomfortable with the big step she had just taken she thought out loud, "How do you know if you are making the right decisions in life?" That's the question of the ages, isn't it? But as a child of God we don't have to walk blind. We can have confidence that we will hear His voice. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." Conversely, this scripture implies that if we are God's children, if we are born-again, we will be led by His Spirit. We have further assurance of this promise in Psalm 37:23 and 24, "The steps of a good (righteous, born-again) person are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand." God will order our steps, and even when we blow it, if we are truly trying to do His will, He will lift us up and give us a second chance. The most difficult part of hearing God is the fact that it takes time to learn to discern God's voice -- and it takes a humble heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, "Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." We can't make demands on Almighty God. We can't shake our fist at the sky and say, 'all right God, let me hear you.' But we can ask, seek, and knock, and the Bible promises that God will open the door. God will reveal Himself to those who humbly seek Him. The writer of Proverbs describes the way that our thoughts and intentions line up with God's will when we submit ourselves fully to the Lord. "Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed" (Proverbs 16:3 Amplified Bible). The Lord manifests Himself to us and through us as we humbly seek Him. The familiar passage in Proverbs 3 makes it even more plain. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). My friend pointed out in his e-mail to me that there are three different voices that we can hear -- and he is absolutely correct. Now that we know we can hear God's voice, we need to be alerted to the fact that there are other voices whispering into our ears as well. In fact, there are three voices that we can hear -- the voice of God, the voice of our own fleshly desires, and the voice of the Devil. But Jesus tells us in John 10:4b and 5, "...and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." The writer of Hebrews tells us that we can train our ear to recognize the voice of God above all the noise. "But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil" (Hebrews 5:14). It is by practicing, by reason of use, that we are able to discern whether what we hear is of God, our flesh, or the Devil. Isaiah 30:21 says, "Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left." So God will speak, and you can hear His voice, but you must be careful -- especially when you are a young Christian -- that you objectively confirm that you are following the Holy Spirit and not another voice. Our own flesh can scream pretty loud (especially when we are under pressure, or we want something very badly). And the Devil is the father of lies -- he is the great deceiver. So how can we know whether we're hearing the voice of God? The Bible gives us seven basic keys or filters through which every possible leading should be judged. We are to carefully examine the thoughts and intentions of our hearts -- and the words of godly people who may have influence on us by their words and actions -- through the use of these seven keys: Scripture: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (II Timothy 3:16-17). The Holy Spirit speaking to our heart: "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen, and everyone his brother, saying, 'know the Lord,' for all will know Me, from the least to the greatest of them" (Hebrews 8:10-11). The Prophetic (word of knowledge, word of wisdom, personal prophecy): "Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good" (I Thessalonians 5:19-21). Godly counsel: "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). Confirmation: "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed" (Matthew 18:16). The peace of God: "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15). Circumstances/Timing: "After these things he (Paul) left Athens and went to Corinth. And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came to them, and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and they were working; for by trade they were tent-makers" (Acts 18:1-3 -- this relationship between Paul, Aquila and Priscilla -- which happened as a result of circumstances -- became one of the most important strategic partnerships in the book of Acts). Many times the Lord will confirm His direction to us through three, four or more of these keys -- especially when we are in the process of making an important, life-changing decision. The bottom line, as Pat Robertson has said for years, is that big decisions take big prayer. In other words, as we humble ourselves before the Lord, seek His guidance in our lives, the Good Shepherd will be faithful to lead us, "…in paths of righteousness for His name's sake" (Psalm 23:3). In the coming weeks we'll look more closely at these seven keys that God has given to help us discern whether what we are sensing is of God, our flesh or the Devil. Because God loves us and wants us to relate to Him, He has given us these clear principles in the Bible to guide us. The New Testament talks of the early disciples -- people like Paul, Aquila and Priscilla -- as people who heard the voice of God. My friend who wrote the e-mail will be happy to know that this was the report made of them: "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too" (Acts 17:6b). Yes, my friend, you can hear and know the voice of God. And because of this the world is changing -- more than perhaps you've heard. |

| title | The Pig Who Wanted To Fly |
| body | Pendelton was a chubby little piglet with a big dream. Clarence and Clarissa, the other piglets who shared the pig pen with Pendelton, dreamed of winning Blue Ribbons at the Annual Agricultural Show. Not Pendelton. His own dream was much more exciting. Pendelton dreamed that someday, someway, somehow, he would become a pig who could fly ! Pendelton's fixation with flying came about one day when he happened to look up and spied a balloon floating by. The balloon had drifted lazily through the sky and sailed over the farmhouse. Pendelton had never seen a balloon before. The balloon was round and pink and so was he, so naturally Pendelton thought it must be a little pink piglet floating through the air. "Wow!" squealed Pendelton, "Just look at that chubby little piglet fly! I sure wish I could do that." Bathsheba, the biggest and oldest pig in the pen, lifted her head up from the trough where she was eating. "That's not a piglet, that's a balloon." she said with a smile. "Unlike chubby little piglets, balloons are very lightweight, that's why they can fly." The pink balloon drifted lazily in the air, then soared up and looped around on a gust of wind, before floating over the yard. It was the most beautiful and graceful thing Pendelton had ever seen. From that day on, all he wanted to do was fly. Awake or asleep, Pendelton constantly dreamed about drifting and looping around on the wind, and floating through the sky just like the pink balloon. Pendelton began to spend most of his days sitting in the middle of the pig pen staring up at the sky, searching for another balloon. Clarence and Clarissa thought he was silly, but that didn't stop Pendelton from dreaming. When no other balloons drifted by, Pendelton began noticing how little insects jumped up and seemed to catch the wind to fly. Unfortunately Pendelton couldn't understand why whenever he jumped up, he came right back down again with a great big thump. Sometimes it hurt to land flat on his face, but that didn't stop Pendelton from dreaming. He began to watch the birds, trying to learn how they managed to stay in the air. He saw they had feathers and wings, things he didn't have, but that didn't stop Pendelton from dreaming. Every day Bathsheba watched him. She would shake her head and say, "Pendelton you are a PIG. You are not a bug. You are not a bird. You are not a balloon. You can NOT fly!" Every day Bathsheba would try to explain to Pendelton the difference between flying creatures with wings, lightweight balloons full of air, and chubby little piglets, but that still didn't stop Pendelton from dreaming. "Get your head out of the clouds, Pendelton! You are a fine pig, so just be proud of what you are." Bathsheba snorted angrily. "Pigs are supposed to eat a lot and grow fat like Clarence. See how nice and round he's getting? Pigs are supposed to roll in the mud to soothe their skin like Clarissa. Just look at how her hide glows. Pigs are supposed to snooze on the clean straw instead of jumping up and down. Pigs are supposed to grow big and shiny and win blue ribbons at the Annual Agricultural Show. Pigs are NOT supposed to fly!", snorted Bathsheba. But that didn't stop Pendelton from dreaming. Pendelton knew what pigs were supposed to do of course, but he just didn't think it was very exciting. He looked up to the sky again and dreamed of how wonderful it would be to fly high above the pig pen, high above the farm, and the countryside, even if he could only do it once. Not long afterwards Spring arrived, as it does every year, and with it, came the Annual Agricultural Show. The show, very similar to a County Fair, is where all the area's farmers could display samples of prize-winning crops, and show off their best looking livestock. The Annual Agricultural Show also had carnival rides, and cotton candy, games to play, competitions to enter, and good things to eat. On the day of the show, Bathsheba, Clarissa, Clarence, and Pendelton were loaded into the back of the farmer's pick-up truck, and taken to the Show Grounds. Bathsheba had been to the show many times before, so she was quite relaxed. She lay down in a corner of the truck, closed her eyes and thought of all the blue ribbons she had won in her youth. She was quite proud of the fact that the farmer continued to bring her to the Show and enter her in Competitions. It was the first time Pendelton, Clarissa and Clarence had been invited to attend an Agricultural Show, so naturally they were excited. Clarissa and Clarence tried to act as if they made this trip all the time though, so the two of them lay down next to Bathsheba. Not Pendelton. He wanted to see everything. From the back of the open pick-up truck things looked different. High off the ground and with the wind whistling past his ears, it was easier for Pendelton to imagine what it would be like to fly. As the truck drove along the road, Pendelton squealed with joy. He trotted from one side of the truck to the other, trying to see all there was to see, and catch as much wind in his face as possible. Bathsheba, Clarissa and Clarence thought Pendelton's behavior was every bit as silly as usual. They ignored him and huddled close to each other, waiting for the journey to be over. Finally they arrived at the Show Grounds and began driving towards the parking area. Pendelton was thrilled by all the bright colours, strange noises and new smells. Suddenly he saw the most wonderful things of all. They looked like ...Flying Machines! Pendelton saw a huge wheel that reached from the ground, all the way up into the sky. It turned around and around, but it didn't go forward. People sat in seats attached to the wheel and Pendelton heard happy laughter as it turned. He saw people enter cars that began to whirl and spin, swoop up and down and loop around. The faster the cars spun and the higher they looped, the louder the people screeched with delight. He looked up and saw a line of chairs attached to a thick cable. People were sitting in the chairs dangling their feet, pointing and calling as they moved slowly over the Show Grounds. Pendelton thought it was all like a magical, wonderful dream, and yet he was certainly wide awake. Then he saw what he was looking for - BALLOONS! Pendelton spied a stall that sold very large, brightly coloured, helium-filled balloons. The balloons seemed to stretch up to the sky, tugging at their strings, struggling to be free to float above the crowd. Pendelton knew just how they felt. The truck stopped at last, and the farmer put Pendelton, Clarissa, and Clarence into one pen, then led Bathsheba to another one, further along. "Be good little piglets now," Bathsheba warned. "Good luck in your Competitions!" Clarissa went straight to the clean straw in the corner to snooze, while Clarence headed toward the trough to eat, but Pendelton wanted to see as much of the Show Grounds as he could. He stood by the pen's gate and pushed his snout through the narrow opening. He looked all about, trying to see the balloon stall and more of the flying things. In his excitement Pendelton pushed too hard, and the gate eased open a little bit. So naturally, he tried pushing a little harder. Sure enough, the gate could be pushed open just far enough for a chubby little piglet to squeeze through. Suddenly, Pendelton was free! Clarence called out, "Pendelton! Where are you going? You'll get lost! Come back!" Clarissa called, "Pendelton, you'll miss your Competition, come back!" Their squeals caught the farmer's attention and he rushed over to the pen to see if his piglets were all OK. The farmer quickly noticed the opening in the gate, and saw that one piglet was missing. The farmer glanced around and saw Pendelton trotting toward the balloon stall. Once the farmer raised the alarm, the other farmers quickly tried to help him. Everyone began shouting and chasing Pendelton. Although they were only trying to catch him to bring him back to the safety of his pen, Pendelton became frightened. When he saw all the farmers running towards him, the chubby little pig gave a terrified squeal and took off running. He barrelled past the cake stall, upsetting the ladies, he galloped through the apple-pie stall, upsetting the pie trays, and skidded into the balloon stall, upsetting himself and a pile of boxes that had been filled with extra balloons and balls of string. There lay chubby little Pendelton, flat on his back amidst a rainbow coloured heap of string and balloons, feet waving wildly in the air. Pendelton began kicking his legs, trying to turn himself right side up, but all he managed to do was get tangled up in something. The 'something' turned out to be the long strings of the helium-filled balloons. The balloon man had kept the helium filled balloons from floating away, by placing their strings under a heavy brick. Pendelton's kicking and thrashing about while trying to up-end himself, tore the ballooon strings from beneath the weight. Instead of getting himself back on his feet, his twisting and turning simply managed to tangle and tighten the balloon strings all around him. Before anyone realized what was happening, the balloons started to rise, taking the chubby little piglet up with them. Pendelton stopped kicking and his eyes grew big as saucers. He realised he was being lifted off the ground by the big bunch of large, brightly coloured, helium-filled balloons. Up, up, up he rose, higher than the whirling, spinning, looping machine, higher than the chairs moving over the Show Grounds, higher than the big turning wheel. "Hooray!" shouted Pendelton happily, "I'm Flying!" He looked down and saw all the people below him running and yelling. They looked so small from up here. As Pendelton floated out of the Show Grounds he saw the farmer running for his pick-up truck. Pendelton thought flying was great fun when he drifted over the town. Busses stopped and people got out to look up and point at him. When he sailed over the countryside he realized he was alone, and Pendelton began to get a little nervous. When he passed over the Farm and saw his empty pig pen, he became a little bit frightened. "I think I want to get down now." he thought. But Pendelton realized he didn't know how to get down. Then he became really frightened. "I Want To Get Down! I Want To Go Home! HEEEELP!" he squealed. The colorful balloons and loud squealing attracted three curious birds. They glided through the air and circled around Pendelton. It all seemed very strange to them. "You're an odd looking bird," cooed one bird. "Where are your wings?" it inquired. "Perhaps he's a bug." peeped another bird. A third bird flew around the balloons, "Pretty thing, isn't he? Quite colourful for a bird. Or bug. Or whatever." she chirped. "Thank you, but I'm not a bird or a bug" replied Pendelton. "I'm a piglet, and it's the balloons that are colourful, not me." "And the reason I don't have wings, is because pigs aren't supposed to fly," sighed Pendelton, and with that, the chubby little piglet began to cry. "Oh, please", he asked the birds,"I want to be back down on the ground. Can you help me? he sobbed. The three birds fluttered around the pig and the balloons until they came up with a way to help Pendelton make a soft landing. With their sharp little beaks, the birds began to pop the balloons - slowly, one by one. As the big bunch of balloons grew smaller, they no longer kept floating upwards. Pendelton's weight made the rest of the balloons start to sink lower and lower. He drifted closer to the ground and was finally starting to feel a little bit safer, when all of a sudden the balloons sailed beneath the leaves of a big tree, and the strings became tangled in its branches. Poor little Pendelton. There he was, dangling from the end of a tree limb, swaying in the breeze, still several feet off the ground. Before Pendelton could get frightened all over again, the farmer arrived in his pick-up truck and parked right underneath Pendelton. Quickly scrambling up on the truck bed, the farmer reached up and plucked little Pendelton from the tree. Gently the farmer tucked the frightened little piglet into a warm sack, sat him on the front seat of the truck, and drove him back home to the pig pen. Pendelton was so glad to be home. Oh how good the trough, the mud and the straw looked to Pendelton, especially from down here on the ground! Within moments, the chubby little piglet was happily nestled in a clean bed of straw, sound sleep. But the little pig who wanted to fly, finally had. Been there. Done that. |
