      "body": "https://i1.daumcdn.net/thumb/C120x120/?fname=http://t1.daumcdn.net/brunch/service/user/2wsP/image/odvw4zHLZ_6yA7TihvePxksJJ3s.jpg\n\n영어를 공부하는 이유는 여러 가지가 있다. 우리는 \"왜 영어를 공부하나요?\"라고 질문함과 동시에 몇 가지 답변들을 이미 예상할 수 있다. 영어를 공부하는 가장 많은 이유는 특정한 시험 점수를 얻기 위해, 즉 취업하거나, 대학교 입학을 위해서 공부하는 것이다. 사실 그런 이유는 \"영어\"를 공부한다고 말할 수 없다. 아마도 \"시험 영어\"라고 정정하는 것이 맞을 것이다. 토익 만점을 받는다고 영어를 사용할 수 있을까? 대학교에서 영어영문학과를 전공했다고 영어를 잘할 수 있을까? 물론 영어로 읽고, 쓰기를 남들보다 더 잘한다는 의미는 될 수 있지만, 영어 자체를 잘한다고 할 수는 없다. 왜냐하면, 영어라는 것은 언어 중 하나이기 때문이다. \n\n반대로 한국어를 배우는 외국인들에게 질문한다고 생각해보자. \"왜 한국어를 공부하세요?\"라고 물어보면 외국인의 대답은 한국 사람들이 영어를 배우는 이유만큼 예상하기란 쉽지 않다. \n\n\"한국어는 소리가 너무 아름다워요\"\n\"한국문화가 너무 좋아요\"\n\"한국인 친구와 대화하고 싶어요\"\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmSnwCdi6qRJMSJQsXAnyiAwqhUkA9rvy3YMPidXfoZLch/image.png)\n캐나다에서 한국어를 공부했던 친구의  노트\n\n외국인들은 한국어를 어느 특정 시험 때문이 아니라, 언어 그 자체로 접근한다. \n\n언어는 다른 사람과 커뮤니케이션하기 위해 사용하는 수단이다. 언어를 공부하고 배우는 이유는 당연히 대화로써 사용하기 위함이어야 한다. 우리나라 사람들에게 한글이란 우리나라 언어이기 때문에 자연스럽게 터득하게 되고 사용하게 되는 언어이다. 하지만 다른 언어는 어떨까? 모국어 외의 언어를 공부하려는 사람은 적어도 그 언어에 흥미가 있어야 한다. 한국어를 배우는 외국인들은 대부분이 흥미가 있고 자발적으로 공부한다. \n\n일본어에 대해 생각해보면, 주위 친구 중 흔히 \"오타쿠\"라는 부정적인 표현으로 불리며 일본 문화를 좋아하는 친구가 한 명쯤은 있을 것이다. 그런 친구들 대부분은 일본어를 잘한다. 과연 그 이유가 영어보다 일본어가 배우기 쉽기 때문일까? 물론 어학적으로 일본어가 한국어 구조와 같아서 배우기 쉬운 점은 있지만, 나에겐 그저 자신이 일본어를 할 줄 모른다는 것을 대변하는 자기 핑계처럼 들린다. 일본어가 공부하기 쉽기 이전에 일본어를 잘하는 사람들은 일본 문화와 일본어라는 언어 자체에 흥미와 열정을 가지고 있기 때문이다.\n\n반대로 영어의 경우, 우린 이미 어렸을 때부터 \"이유\"도 모르고 영어를 배워왔다. 미래를 위해 그래야만 했기 때문이다. 점점 영어를 바라보는 관점이 달라지면서, 영어를 언어의 수단으로써 배우는 사람들이 점점 늘어나긴 하지만 아직도 많은 사람은 영어에 대한 흥미보단 영어를 해야 하므로 공부한다. \n\n그렇다면 진짜 영어를 공부하기 위해서는 어떻게 해야 할까? 안타깝게도 우리나라에서 진짜 영어를 배우기란 쉽지 않다. 나도 예전에는 영어 문법 선생님으로서 시험을 위한 영어를 가르치며 돈을 벌며 살아왔지만 사실 학원에서 진짜 영어를 배우기는 쉽지 않다. \n\n첫 번째, 진짜 영어를 배우기 위해선 영어에 대한 흥미와 열정이 있어야 한다. 나 같은 경우 학원에 다니지 않고 영어를 혼자 공부하고 터득했기 때문에 흥미가 생겼고, 나중에는 외국인 친구와 \"대화\"하기 위해 영어에 대한 열정이 있었다.\n\n두 번째는, 영어 공부를 어떻게 시작해야 할지 방향을 못 잡기 때문이다. 언어는 토익 학원에 다닌다고 절대로 영어를 잘할 수 없다. 회화학원을 다닌다고 절대로 스피킹을 잘할 수 있는 것도 아니고, 해외에서 어학원을 다녀도 영어가 늘 수 있는 것도 아니다. \n\n결국엔 언어는 엄청난 열정과 노력뿐 아니라 공부 목표에 맞는 방향이 필요하다. 기본적으로 목표(이유)+공부(노력)+실천(성과)과 같은 결과가 수반되어야 할 것이다.\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRimSH2qbABvpkZau7BTbtpHkLVnXtnLA7MmxVKard9sX/image.png)\n영어 표현을 정리해놓은 메모장\n\n나는 영어에 대한 욕심과 열정이 엄청나서 안 해본 공부 방법이 없을 정도로 시도를 하고 또 많은 실패를 맛보고 영어라는 언어를 어떻게 접근해야 하는지 터득하게 됐다. 앞으로 해외에서 직접 경험한 성장기들과 내가 어떤 방식으로 영어를 공부하여 원어민 친구들을 사귀게 되었는지 써 내려갈 예정이다.\n\n그 이전에 자신이 현재 영어공부를 하고 있다면 스스로 질문을 던져보길 바란다.\n\n\"나는 왜 영어 공부를 하고 있을까?\"\n\n글 읽어주셔서 감사합니다!",

      "body": "https://i1.daumcdn.net/thumb/C120x120/?fname=http://t1.daumcdn.net/brunch/service/user/2wsP/image/odvw4zHLZ_6yA7TihvePxksJJ3s.jpg\n\n영어를 공부하는 이유는 여러 가지가 있다. 우리는 \"왜 영어를 공부하나요?\"라고 질문함과 동시에 몇 가지 답변들을 이미 예상할 수 있다. 영어를 공부하는 가장 많은 이유는 특정한 시험 점수를 얻기 위해, 즉 취업하거나, 대학교 입학을 위해서 공부하는 것이다. 사실 그런 이유는 \"영어\"를 공부한다고 말할 수 없다. 아마도 \"시험 영어\"라고 정정하는 것이 맞을 것이다. 토익 만점을 받는다고 영어를 사용할 수 있을까? 대학교에서 영어영문학과를 전공했다고 영어를 잘할 수 있을까? 물론 영어로 읽고, 쓰기를 남들보다 더 잘한다는 의미는 될 수 있지만, 영어 자체를 잘한다고 할 수는 없다. 왜냐하면, 영어라는 것은 언어 중 하나이기 때문이다. \n\n반대로 한국어를 배우는 외국인들에게 질문한다고 생각해보자. \"왜 한국어를 공부하세요?\"라고 물어보면 외국인의 대답은 한국 사람들이 영어를 배우는 이유만큼 예상하기란 쉽지 않다. \n\n\"한국어는 소리가 너무 아름다워요\"\n\"한국문화가 너무 좋아요\"\n\"한국인 친구와 대화하고 싶어요\"\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmSnwCdi6qRJMSJQsXAnyiAwqhUkA9rvy3YMPidXfoZLch/image.png)\n캐나다에서 한국어를 공부했던 친구의  노트\n\n외국인들은 한국어를 어느 특정 시험 때문이 아니라, 언어 그 자체로 접근한다. \n\n언어는 다른 사람과 커뮤니케이션하기 위해 사용하는 수단이다. 언어를 공부하고 배우는 이유는 당연히 대화로써 사용하기 위함이어야 한다. 우리나라 사람들에게 한글이란 우리나라 언어이기 때문에 자연스럽게 터득하게 되고 사용하게 되는 언어이다. 하지만 다른 언어는 어떨까? 모국어 외의 언어를 공부하려는 사람은 적어도 그 언어에 흥미가 있어야 한다. 한국어를 배우는 외국인들은 대부분이 흥미가 있고 자발적으로 공부한다. \n\n일본어에 대해 생각해보면, 주위 친구 중 흔히 \"오타쿠\"라는 부정적인 표현으로 불리며 일본 문화를 좋아하는 친구가 한 명쯤은 있을 것이다. 그런 친구들 대부분은 일본어를 잘한다. 과연 그 이유가 영어보다 일본어가 배우기 쉽기 때문일까? 물론 어학적으로 일본어가 한국어 구조와 같아서 배우기 쉬운 점은 있지만, 나에겐 그저 자신이 일본어를 할 줄 모른다는 것을 대변하는 자기 핑계처럼 들린다. 일본어가 공부하기 쉽기 이전에 일본어를 잘하는 사람들은 일본 문화와 일본어라는 언어 자체에 흥미와 열정을 가지고 있기 때문이다.\n\n반대로 영어의 경우, 우린 이미 어렸을 때부터 \"이유\"도 모르고 영어를 배워왔다. 미래를 위해 그래야만 했기 때문이다. 점점 영어를 바라보는 관점이 달라지면서, 영어를 언어의 수단으로써 배우는 사람들이 점점 늘어나긴 하지만 아직도 많은 사람은 영어에 대한 흥미보단 영어를 해야 하므로 공부한다. \n\n그렇다면 진짜 영어를 공부하기 위해서는 어떻게 해야 할까? 안타깝게도 우리나라에서 진짜 영어를 배우기란 쉽지 않다. 나도 예전에는 영어 문법 선생님으로서 시험을 위한 영어를 가르치며 돈을 벌며 살아왔지만 사실 학원에서 진짜 영어를 배우기는 쉽지 않다. \n\n첫 번째, 진짜 영어를 배우기 위해선 영어에 대한 흥미와 열정이 있어야 한다. 나 같은 경우 학원에 다니지 않고 영어를 혼자 공부하고 터득했기 때문에 흥미가 생겼고, 나중에는 외국인 친구와 \"대화\"하기 위해 영어에 대한 열정이 있었다.\n\n두 번째는, 영어 공부를 어떻게 시작해야 할지 방향을 못 잡기 때문이다. 언어는 토익 학원에 다닌다고 절대로 영어를 잘할 수 없다. 회화학원을 다닌다고 절대로 스피킹을 잘할 수 있는 것도 아니고, 해외에서 어학원을 다녀도 영어가 늘 수 있는 것도 아니다. \n\n결국엔 언어는 엄청난 열정과 노력뿐 아니라 공부 목표에 맞는 방향이 필요하다. 기본적으로 목표(이유)+공부(노력)+실천(성과)과 같은 결과가 수반되어야 할 것이다.\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRimSH2qbABvpkZau7BTbtpHkLVnXtnLA7MmxVKard9sX/image.png)\n영어 표현을 정리해놓은 메모장\n\n나는 영어에 대한 욕심과 열정이 엄청나서 안 해본 공부 방법이 없을 정도로 시도를 하고 또 많은 실패를 맛보고 영어라는 언어를 어떻게 접근해야 하는지 터득하게 됐다. 앞으로 해외에서 직접 경험한 성장기들과 내가 어떤 방식으로 영어를 공부하여 원어민 친구들을 사귀게 되었는지 써 내려갈 예정이다.\n\n그 이전에 자신이 현재 영어공부를 하고 있다면 스스로 질문을 던져보길 바란다.\n\n\"나는 왜 영어 공부를 하고 있을까?\"\n\n글 읽어주셔서 감사합니다!",
