That’s almost three times the decline expected. There were roughly 12.1 million U.S. Facebook users in the 12- to 17-year-old demographic by the end of the year.\n\nThere are likely multiple reasons for the decline. Facebook has been losing its “cool” factor for years, and young people have more options than ever for staying in touch with friends and family. Facebook also serves as a digital record keeper — but many young people don’t seem to care about saving their life online, at least not publicly. That explains why Snapchat and Instagram, which offer features for sharing photos and videos that disappear, are growing in popularity among this demographic.\n\nOverall, eMarketer found Facebook lost about 2.8 million U.S. users under 25 last year.\n\nAnd Facebook’s 2018 doesn’t look much better.\n\nThe research firm released Facebook usage estimates for 2018 on Monday, and expects that Facebook will lose about 2.1 million users in the U.S. under the age of 25 this year.\n\nEMarketer predicts that Facebook will see a decline in usage among all three age groups for people under 25:\n\nA 9.3 percent drop for Facebook users under 11 years old. (Reminder: Facebook’s terms of service require that users must be 13 years old in order to create an account, though it’s easy to get around that.)\nA 5.6 percent decline in users between 12 and 17 years old.\nA 5.8 percent decline in users between 18 and 24 years old. This is the first time eMarketer has ever predicted a year-over-year decline in usage for this age group, though it has happened before. In 2016, Facebook’s user base for 18- to 24-year-olds fell by 1.5 percent.\nTake the numbers with a grain of salt — eMarketer is an outside research firm so it doesn’t have the full picture that, say, Facebook has.\n\nBut the fact that eMarketer is predicting declines across the board is a bad sign for Facebook regardless. Running iPhone and iPad apps on Mac is only exciting news for those iPhone and iPad users who also happen to be Mac users.\n\nBut that might not even be the most significant feature of iOS 12, a new report explains. Instead, iOS 12 will bring Apple fans something a lot more important, and it’s a “feature” that you might not even notice at first.\n\nIndependent reports from a few weeks ago said that Apple’s software division has decided to focus on user experience in its next major software updates, rather than pushing out a ton of new features. Apple has faced plenty of criticism lately due to various software issues or feature delays, prompting many to wonder why the company isn’t deploying the same kind of near-perfect software experiences of the past.\n\nA new report from Bloomberg says that Apple decided to fix its software issue by rethinking its launch schedule. Rather than setting unattainable goals for its software team, Apple will slow down the pace, going for consistency instead of software innovation.\n\niOS 12 will bring various novel features, including the ability to run iPhone apps on Macs; a new Digital Health tool that shows parents how much time children spend on iOS devices; Animoji support in FaceTime (as well as more Animoji); Face ID support on iPad; multiplayer support for AR games; a redesigned stocks app; upgraded Do Not Disturb mode; a new way to import photos into an iPad; and a new way to integrate Siri into iPhone search.\n\nBut several other features that were initially cooked up with iOS 12 in mind have been postponed to iOS 13 or later. The list includes a redesigned home screen for the iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay, and a revamped Photos app that can suggest what images to view. Some iPad-only features have also reportedly been delayed, including a multitasking mode that would let users run several tabs in the same app window, just like on Mac, as well as a feature that would allow users to run two screens of the same app side by side.\n\nAs you can see, Apple will continue to update its software annually, but without rushing developers to meet annual deadlines. This should lead to improved software experiences across platforms.\n\nGoing forward, Apple will work on the next two years of updates for iPhone and iPad, with engineers having the final say on whether new features are ready to be launched or should be postponed to next year. Little do they notice that this stuff would eventually have a domino effect on their time management – leading them to procrastination, and in the end, depriving them the sleep they deserve.\n\n2.    Social Media\nObviously, social media is playing a big role in our lives today. We may not want to admit it, but we do know that it’s taking a lot of our time. What is unfortunate, more significantly, is that a large percent of our population that is being hooked on what these online platforms are offering is the youth – our students. What is even more devastating is that the time they spend online is not even for school-related activities; rather, their time online is spent by posting and browsing through social media platforms. And just like watching movies or TV shows, they find it enjoyable; hence, they find it okay and acceptable to take for granted sleeping. More so, a large percent of these students even admit that they take their gadgets and devices to bed with them not for research purposes, but for non-school related stuff.\n\n3.    Procrastination\nAnd so because of this internet addiction, movie and TV shows binge-watching, and other non-related school stuff students waste their time with, their schedule messes as up as well as time management. Since they are too preoccupied with their TVs and other gadgets, they lose track of time and become unaware that their deadline for a certain project or paper is getting near. Once they realize that they have only one or two days left, they procrastinate. \nSo, instead of being able to distribute the workload from the day the project was given up to the deadline, they do it rush and overnight, resulting into lack of sleep for almost eight hours or more. Further so, with the belief that there is always coffee to keep them awake, they do it anyway. And when the next day comes, they feel groggy and tired and sleepy. But they have to be in school, so what happens? Their performance becomes poor. \n\n4.    Two Words: \"I`m busy.\"\nBusy – this word has actually lost its meaning through time. The sudden effect of modernization has swiftly changed our concepts of hectic and multi-tasking. But what makes you busy, really? If you are a student, then the answer would probably be the school works and assignments. This is true, but is it also true that just because you are required to pass tons of papers and projects, you are also required to deprive yourself the sleep you deserve? Of course, not. No matter how busy you are, no matter how many assignments you have, and no matter how much time you have left, you still need to get enough sleep. Maybe you are indeed busy, but you have to keep in mind that everybody also is. Therefore, it wouldn’t hurt to sleep if you have the chance.\n\nFinal notes\nStudying has never been easy. No one walks into the university on the first day of the first semester of his first year saying, “This is going to be a piece of cake!” This is true and almost everyone would agree. Surviving college is indeed a mixture of blood, sweat, and tears. But while it is a survival of the fittest and a scuffle of the fiercest, there are things that when in the midst of the battle, you should not take for granted – like sleep.",
