      "body": "The Fourth Industrial Revolution is underway, making it the perfect time to take a look at the history of industrial revolutions.\n\nFrom 1760-1830, the world experienced its first Industrial Revolution - also known as Industry 1.0. During this time, machines and tools began replacing human and animal labor. Furthermore, Industry 1.0 introduced machines driven by steam and internal combustion engines. \n\n40 years later, the world experienced its second Industrial Revolution - changing the way of life until 1914. Industry 2.0 primarily focused on improving mass production. In this period, many began using assembly lines to increase efficiency and productivity, and shipping was made easier by the use of telegraph lines and railways. Additionally, Industry 2.0 birthed many new materials still used today - such as stainless steel and plastics. \n\nFrom 1950-2002, the world underwent digitalization as a result of the Third Industrial Revolution. What did that look like? A rise in telecommunications, computers, and nuclear power, as well as widespread factory automation using robotics and PLCs. Annually business conferences typically generate $1 trillion in direct spending. This spending plays out in airfare, hotel stays dining, and transportation. When conferences were canceled major cities loss money. For example, SXSW in Austin, Texas lost $350 million in direct losses and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain saw $480 million in direct losses as well. These stats also don’t account for profits that the company hosting the event would have made, the effect on local shops and attractions that would have made money off of attendees, and any business generated from the networking that is had at these events. This sudden change has caused one positive trend and that is the rise of local conferences. As people are more reluctant to pay for travel and other costs many are looking towards more local events or even virtual conferences.       "body": "In 2018 64% of businesses experienced a phishing attack and employees are still struggling to protect themselves against them. In fact 72% of employees reported that protecting themselves from phishing has become more difficult in the last four years. Over two thirds of consumers have received some form of a phishing email and one third have been compromised. These hacks resulted in compromised accounts, malware infections and loss of data. For a business it could mean a loss of almost $2 million per incident as well as decreased productivity, data loss and reputation damage. Adding to the difficulty to stop these attacks nearly half of all hackers aren’t just exploiting tech anymore but are rather now using techniques that exploit human nature. This looks like using spam emails that either creates a sense of urgency, mimics realistic personalized messages or preys upon fear with need-to-know information. As employees are being preyed on more and more they may also be a business's greatest asset to prevent them from occurring in the first place.
