      "title": "Libro en papel vs libro electrónico... ¿y tú de quién eres?",
      "body": "Hola queridos amigos!!\n\nHoy me gustaría reflexionar sobre un tema que puede suscitar opiniones encontradas: libro en papel o libro electrónico. Es algo a lo que presto atención cada día cuando voy en el transporte público al trabajo.\n\nA muchos de nosotros nos gusta leer, a unos en un formato, y a otros en otros. Pero no es muy común que haya gente que utilice ambos formatos y los intercambie en el tiempo. Y esto es porque suele ser una tendencia bastante definida entre los lectores.\n\nA día de hoy, nos encontramos con un panorama en el que el *ebook* experimenta año a año una tendencia alcista en cuanto a cuota de mercado respecto a su hermano en papel. La Rioja, España.*\n\n**Algunos datos**\n\n\nSegún la encuesta de Nielsen’s Books & Consumers, en 2016 en UK las ventas de libros en papel se incrementaron en un 7% mientras que las de *ebook* se redujeron en un 4% respecto al año anterior; aunque en cuanto a cuota de mercado los libros electrónicos aumentaron del 31% al 32%.\n\nEl estudio destaca además la fortaleza del libro impreso entre los jóvenes, contra lo que pudiera pensarse a priori.  Según recoge el informe, Jacks Thomas, Director de The London Book Fair, en este hecho influye la diversidad de opciones que ofrece el libro tradicional respecto a formato y calidades.\n\nEn estados unidos la consultora Deloitte confirmaba que en 2013 el 92% de los lectores con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y 29 años lo eran de libros impresos. Y en el mercado en general los libros en papel representaron ese mismo año el 79,5% de las ventas del mercado.\n\nEn España, el estudio realizado por el Ministerio de Cultura 'Panorámica de la edición española de libros' del año 2015, señala que \"*la edición de libros en soporte papel aumenta un 0,4 %, mientras que la edición en otros soportes desciende un 0,3 %, al igual que la edición electrónica, que disminuye apenas un 0,1 % con respecto al año anterior*\". Indica además el mismo estudio que la edición en formato electrónico representaba en 2015 un 26,3 % del total de la producción.\n\nTodos estos datos nos indican que la convivencia entre formatos parece estabilizarse en torno a un 30%70% o 40%-60% a favor del formato tradicional.\n\n**Ventajas y desventajas de ambos formatos**\n\nA continuación comentará las que considero ventajas y desventajas más relevantes para ambos soportes\n\nEn cuanto al libro impreso podemos destacar las siguientes ventajas:\n\n1. Mejor capacidad de comprensión: muchos estudias apuntan a que el ser humano es capaz de asimilar con mayor rapidez y profundidad cuando lee un texto impreso que en formato digital.\n\n2. Mayor facilidad para \"moverse\" entre páginas: a pesar de que los *ebook* tienen la posibilidad lógicamente de paginar, es a priori más \"pesado\" ir de una página a otra usando con botones que con el libro tradicional.\n\n3. Anotaciones: con el libro impreso el lector puede continuar la tradición milenaria de \"glosar\" los libros, esto es, realizar anotaciones en los márgenes, o subrayar, o incluso incluir otros papeles en determinadas hojas (por ejemplo un mapa en un capítulo en el que se narra una batalla o un recorte de prensa).\n\n4. Visibilidad: tener libros en papel nos permite \"colocarlos\" en nuestras bibliotecas o estanterías. Esto ya depende de cada uno pero a mucha gente le gusta verlos, tenerlos a mano para consultarlos o simplemente usarlos de decoración.\n\n5. Más dificultad para realizar copias ilegales: este aspecto tiene dos caras lógicamente. Pero dando por hecho que somos \"legales\" diremos que a la industria le favorece el hecho de dificultar las copias de libros. El hecho de \"descargar\" libros de forma irregular, resta rentabilidad al negocio editor, y por tanto desincentiva la publicación de nuevos libros, con lo que finalmente la oferta para el consumidor se empobrece en el medio y largo plazo.\n\n6. Acceso a libros antiguos: parece evidente que la mayor parte de libros editados hace más de 8-10 años no han sido \"pasados\" a formato digital. Eso hace que para libros de cierta edad el soporte en papel sea la única alternativa.\n\n\nEn cuanto al libro electrónico podemos destacar:\n\n1. Precio: si bien el lector tiene que hacer una inversión inicial a la hora de comprar el dispositivo, parece claro que a medio plazo es sencillo rentabilizar es más eficiente el libro el *ebook*:\n1.1 El rango de precios de los *ebook* suele estar entre los 80 y los 200€ (por supuesto siempre hay ejemplares más sofisticados... y caros).\n1.2 El rango de precios de los ejemplares es más económico que el formato papel. Aquí las variaciones son notables, por ejemplo en amazon podemos encontrar libros que cuestan 20 € en papel y 3 € en formato electrónico, o proporciones menos llamativas como 20€-10€.\n\n2. Ahorro de espacio: sin duda éste es para muchos un driver muy importante a la hora de elegir este soporte, que no hace falta espacio para almacenar libros y libros en el salón de casa.\n\n3. Comodidad en el transporte: otra indudable ventaja es la mayor comodidad para el uso del *ebook*, especialmente cuando salimos de casa, como por ejemplo cuando vamos en transporte público. Los soportes electrónicos suelen ocupar menos espacio y eso hace que sea menos gravoso cargar con él o guardarlo en la mochila o bolso de turno.\n\n4. Ahorro material: desde un punto de vista medioambiental parece evidente que el libro electrónico es infinitamente más saludable, tanto en consumo de papel como de otros materiales (tinta, plástico, etc.).\n\n5. Mayor oferta: por último una de las ventajas que tiene este formato es la mayor oferta comercial si hablamos de títulos nuevos (en caso de libros antiguos parece claro que no es el caso). Esto es por el menor coste de este soporte así como por la pretensión de llegar a más lectores por parte de los autores y editores.\n\n\n**Alegato en defensa del libro en papel**\n\nPor mi parte, mi opinión es que el libro en papel es sin duda el formato por excelencia de un libro. Me resulta que dignifica en mayor medida la obra, le da una dimensión física. Independientemente de la razonabilidad de esta preferencia en términos objetivos de comodidad o versatilidad, hay algo del libro que me atrae. Verlo en la estantería, colocado, ocupando su espacio. No sé, es como dotar de un espacio a una parte de tu vida, supone hacer de cada libro algo perenne y presente en nuestro día a día.\n\nEl formato de digital, lleno de ventajas, sin duda, hace que el libro desaparezca, perdido en un disco duro, o en la papelera del ordenador. Y eso sin duda, fomenta en cierta medida el olvido, lo hace fugaz. Un libro electrónico existe mientras se lee, luego desaparece.\n\nQuiero creer que los personajes que leemos, o los escritores que los crean o los recuerdan, sentirán un cierto placer al ver sus obras en nuestras estanterías. Me imagino a Publico Cornelio Escipión orgulloso de ocupar su lugar en mi salón, o a Corocotta, o a Sancho Dávila... Supongo que en cierta medida es una resistencia el olvido.
