| title | Operation? No, Thanks! Neuro-controlled Prosthetic Limbs |
| body | It may seem like the stuff of Sci-Fi movies, but advancements over recent years have resulted in real breakthroughs when it comes to neuro-controlled prosthetic limbs. Also referred to as mind-controlled prosthetic limbs, these could help to revolutionize the world for those who would otherwise be destined to spend their lives (without a hand or a leg) in and out of hospital having various surgeries and operations. Testing and research into these neuro-controlled prosthetics has been going on for some years, but there have been rapid advancements over the past couple of years. In fact, 2015 saw one of the world-known companies in this industry introduce the first neuro-controlled prosthetics in the form of lower limbs for amputees. This was a huge breakthrough in the industry and what could be the start of a revolution that transforms the quality of life for amputees. How do Neuro-Controlled Prosthetic Limbs Work? In a nutshell, these neuro-controlled prosthetic limbs enable amputees to control the limbs through the power of thought. It sounds like something out of The Six Million Dollar Man but this is something that has already proven successful. The development of neuro-controlled lower limbs for amputees being fitted with this groundbreaking technology, as advancements continue, more and more people will be able to avoid surgery and operations as a result of being able to access these prosthetics. Usually, the technology works through tiny sensors that are implanted into the residual muscle tissue. These sensors are then able to trigger the movement that is required by the person wearing the prosthetic limb. We are all used to technology such as smartphones and smart TVs — well, this is the next step up with many describing these as smart limbs. These limbs are able to learn in real time and adjust to the speed and style of the user’s movements. Experts involved with the development of these prosthetics concluded that in able-bodied individuals, movement begins in the subconscious, which then results in electrical impulses that control movement. This is what medics and researchers involved in neuro-controlled prosthetic development have tried to replicate — and so far it is proving to be quite a success. Development Continues into Neural Control Development and research into neuro-controlled prosthetics is ongoing, and a number of organizations and medical facilities are getting involved experimenting with different types of approaches and technologies. This year saw a man who was paralyzed from the neck down learning how to move his hand again after he was fitted with neuro-controlled prosthetics. Electrical implants were implanted in the brain and sensors were inserted into his arm. This allowed the man to basically use the power of thought to control his hand movements. Doing things such as picking up a drink or eating with a fork have become possible again. While these are simple things that most of us take for granted, they can make a huge difference to the quality of life for someone who has had limbs amputated or suffered paralysis. The company Neurogress, which leads the development of the neural control of mechatronic systems, have advanced this even further by removing the need for inserting sensors altogether. Their Neuro-controlled technology currently works encouragingly with distal limbs, by analyzing the bio-signals transmitted from the brain’s cortex. The results of tests with subjects so far have been very encouraging and research continues with using AI to increase the accuracy of the prosthetic movement. By them combining these ‘brainwaves’ with their mechatronic 3D-printed adjustable prosthetic devices, they have removed the need for any invasive surgery entirely. The intention now is to streamline this type of technology so that it can become a mainstream routine treatment in the future. Moreover, the fact that with the advancements of technologies such devices are going to be available at a moderate price even comparing with current invasive non neuro-controlled prostheses, encourages developers to bring a better way of living to the majority of people in need worldwide. Experts have high hopes in terms of the success of this type of treatment — and it could dramatically reduce the need for multiple invasive surgical procedures for many people. What do you think about thought-controlled limbs? A modern innovation to improve people’s lives, or a step into the gray area of Artificial Intelligence and a robotic race of humans? | body | #Archeologists have unearthed a curved wooden toe that was attached to a piece of leather. This is our oldest example of prosthesis — as far as we know — and we believe it was used 3,000 years ago in Egypt. It was probably not very functional; and it would take a very long time for the first functional prosthetic limbs to become available. In the 16th Century, Ambroise Paré, a French battlefield surgeon, invented a prosthetic hand with flexible fingers. He also built a leg with a knee that could lock into place when the wearer was standing. Throughout history, the need for functional prosthetics has arisen time and time again. During the Civil War, in the United States for instance, there were more than 60,000 amputations. While millions of dollars have been set aside for prosthetic research, many prosthetic limbs have remained only barely functional and not easy to control. Many require invasive surgery to even work correctly. The Best We’ve Got In an attempt to improve the limited functionality of prosthetic limbs, researchers have arrived at a solution: osseointegration. The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital detailed how this cutting-edge process, a way to fuse the prosthesis directly onto the bone, in a revolutionary new study. In so doing, the prosthetic limb can become part of the musculoskeletal system. This would not only improve the functionality of the limb — it would also let the amputee feel as “normal” as possible. By implanting the bone this way, much more of the senses can function just as they would with a normal human limb. This method would even allow increased nervous motor control. The problem? To make this happen, doctors would have to bond titanium implants directly to the bone of an arm or leg. The procedure requires invasive surgery just to attach the limb. There’s an inherent risk that surgery carries; but also, at the moment this is only a proposed theory. This means it stays out of reach for most amputees who need functional limbs right now. The Future of Prosthetics The solution? To develop current prosthetic models so they’re more functional and easier to control by making use of technology we already have. What if an amputee could attach software to their current prosthetic limb to make it more functional and control it naturally with his/her thoughts? Neurogress is developing a program that can do just that. The interface software allows the user to control the prosthetic as one would control a normal arm or leg through their brainwaves. This software would act as an interface between an amputee’s limb and the biosignals received from the amputee’s cortex, allowing the brain to control the limb just by thinking about it. The device will not require surgery or any medication. A neurointerface would be able to pick up “commands” from the amputee’s brain, then send those signals to the prosthetic device where the software would take care of analyzing them and putting them into action. This would allow amputees to move their limbs as easily as they could the ones they were born with. We’ve come a very long way since the first prosthetic limbs were used. The problems of functionality and control have plagued us since Egypt 3,000 years ago. Finally, we’re reaching the point where today’s artificial limbs are designed to look and feel like the “real thing”. | title | Neuro-controlled Prosthetic Arm, Leg — or a Whole Body? Sci-fi or reality? |
| body | Our view of the world and how we manipulate it is changing rapidly and is about to turn into a revolution. In the past, the body had been held as complete, perfect, and for most, sacred. Those unfortunate to suffer the trauma of amputation, or severe limb disability lived in a world imprisoned by their inability to do things that ‘the perfect’ find easy. We are currently at a point where we accept that a fully functional prosthetic arm or leg is something that is in the future. But, out of this science fiction, a new reality is approaching rapidly. The Fiction of Body Augmentation Well’s book the “War of the Worlds” produced an image that was alien and robotic, unfeeling and mechanical. In 1972, Martin Caidin extended the idea, introducing into the cultural consciousness the idea of the ‘Cyborg’, in his book of the same name. The cyborg was defined earlier in 1960 by Manfred Clynes and Nathan S. Kline, both scientists, as a being that augmented its body in places with electromechanical devices to enhance what it was capable of doing. Prior to that, in 1958, Jack E. Steele, an American medical doctor and retired Air Force colonel, defined the word ‘bionics’ and this alternatively used the natural world to inspire biomechanical engineering and design. In the series “Six Million Dollar Man”, Steve Austin, horribly disfigured and amputated by an aircraft accident was rebuilt with bionic limbs and a left eye. Now, augmenting the body became an exciting area of adding super-human abilities, to accomplish so much more than the ‘normal’ person would be capable of. These ideas have developed in sci-fi, bringing extra abilities and more beauty into the idea of supplementing and changing the body. In many films and books, as in the massively popular ‘Iron Man’ films recently, possibilities are introduced to the public who are now finding body augmentation more acceptable, even desirable. More than ever creative solutions and ideas are presented that excite the imagination, that range from tiny nanobots to complete exoskeleton enhancements to the body. But, from the fiction of having these extra functionality body devices, what are the facts? The Reality of Body Augmentation Where science fiction in this area is more to do with the imagination than the actual technology, reality is often constrained — and slower to create. The body, has until recently, been partly restored to its ‘perfection’ by adding prosthetic limbs, often requiring more surgery to an already traumatized patient. However, the 2010’s have seen an increasingly rapid movement in this idea that is now reaching a revolution. The constraints in augmenting the body have so far been in the controlling and powering of any biomechanical devices that have been used. Where the battery power and engineering techniques are advancing, together with the production and accessibility of 3D printed prosthetics, these all combine to help it move it forward at an ever-increasing pace, however, the main revolution is taking place in interface and control. Neurogress, a company focused on ‘thought’ based interface technologies, have produced a means of controlling devices by ‘thinking’. Using artificial intelligence and sensors that monitor bio-signals from the brain’s cortex, it has been successful in achieving significant results in, what can be considered as the ideal, mind-to-machine interface. Without any surgery, for example, a headband essentially picks up, and decodes from the background noise, what movement the subject is thinking about. So body augmentation devices, from internal devices to external prosthetics, now have a means of being neuro-controlled, and the revolution begins with infinite possibilities opening up. Manipulation of the world around us is ‘all in the mind’, literally, as we are beginning to think of a reality that goes way beyond the fiction. Machines, not constrained by having a body in close proximity can be far away for example with augmented reality fed back to the user, and a neural connection to control it. The ideal of the body ‘perfect’ is being supplemented by options that make body augmentation much more desirable, and not just in giving back the complete freedom of movement missed by many. We are reaching a time where, once fiction dominated possibilities, now technological fact allows a revolution to take place that is only constrained by the imagination — and perhaps only by ‘what we think’. What possibilities do you see for these advances in neural technology? Can you image what part of your body you would want augmented with neural control? | title | Surrogates are Closer than You Think |
| body | I give the command with my mind and there’s a peculiar pop feeling as my consciousness arcs across the room to my robot surrogate. It feels weird and for the first few seconds I feel dizzy. I reach my hand out to catch hold of the counter and restore my balance, but then I realize I’m not moving my body’s hand at all. Instead my new robotic hand reaches out into space and I swear under my breath, embarrassed. “Don’t worry, it gets easier”, the salesperson says, not very reassuringly. “Try moving your head.” For a moment I find it hard to divide my body’s head from the metal head of the device my consciousness is inhabiting, but then somehow in a rush it all clicks into place, the AI-boosted software mediating the connection between myself and the robot rapidly learning how my brain works when I’m excited and struggling to concentrate. Within minutes I’m walking around the showroom, the room unnaturally bright to my new robotic eyes. This scenario might seem farfetched, but it really isn’t. Thanks to innovations in artificial intelligence and neurotechnology we are soon reaching a point where you too could be walking around jauntily in your new thought-controlled robot. Robotic surrogates in our everyday lives Robots have been an integral part of human life for quite a while now, particularly in industry. But with neurotechnology, the emergent possibility is that robots may be directly controlled with human thought. Furthermore this can be achieved with minimal training and a high level of precision. Neurogress, a neurotechnological innovator specializing in AI-powered neurocontrol software, is at the forefront of making this happen. Their vision is ambitious: “Each person will have a personal assistant that will be controlled by the power of thought. All of the robot’s actions can be monitored through virtual reality devices, i.e. you will be able to see and hear whatever the robot sees and hears.” This is taking the classic idea of the humble robotic assistant and shifting it to a whole new level. We’re no longer looking at a metal automaton who performs mindless tasks to make our lives easier. Far more than that, Neurogress is offering a future in which we can be multiple places at once, a steady stream of sensory data flowing back to our brains via advanced AI software. Robotic surrogates will expand the things that humans can experience and the impact on every aspect of our lives is hard to fathom. The impact this will have on our reach as a species Here’s just one example. Humans could be living on Mars by 2030. In fact, depending on who you trust for your Mars data, there could be up to four thousand frail (possibly misguided) little humans scrabbling around on the red planet by 2032. Perhaps the first Mars colonists will use thought controlled surrogate robots to perform hazardous tasks on the planet’s surface while they hunker down in the relative safety of a subterranean lava tunnel, sipping Mountain Dew. Neurogress’ work toward perfecting the communication between brain and machine may one day be one indispensable component of humans becoming an interplanetary species. | title | Neurogress Announces Exciting Potential Partnerships with International Organizations to Fasttrack Developments |
| body | 50% Bonus Still Available at its Pre-TGE, Extended to 29 April 2018 “The Neurogress mission is to develop software for controlling electronics and machinery via a thought-controlled interface.” Switzerland, 21 March 2018: Neurogress is pleased to announce its ongoing communication with several International Organizations to fasttrack the Neurogress roadmap. Its proponents view collaboration with various relevant third-party organizations of immense importance. Being a decentralized project, Neurogress sees its primary mission of creating a core that will spark interest in neurocontrol, providing best technological backup and conditions for collaboration for those willing to participate in advancing the development of the neurocontrolled smart environment. Based on the feedback of their partners and gaining a lot of interest from fiat economy to support the project, Neurogress welcomes additional financing from grants and traditional contributors. The website will also be opened to countries that are currently restricted in the pre-TGE phase and thus, help disseminate Neurogress concept and ideas, and additionally attract more interest from potential traditional contributors. Current situation of the Neurotechnology market Neurocontrol is a technology at the intersection of multiple fields, each one compared to rocket science in complexity. For the advancement of the technology, they will partner with startups, academic organisations, research institutions and other competent players in the field. This approach is to ensure that the Ecosystem can benefit from ideas, knowledge, and experience. Moreover, Neurogress is interested in joining efforts with major players in every industry it aims to enter, such as drones or AR/MR/VR in order to ensure that our expertise is not limited to neurocontrol, but also extend to the industries they plan to work with. This way, they ensure that neurocontrolled devices remain competitive compared to pseudo-interface controlled devices. Neurogress is not a crypto-exchange platform, but an ecosystem. Crypto markets are facing another round of volatility — with many claiming this new drop is related to recent news. Although there is much excitement about exploring the use of blockchain technology proactively for ushering in digital economy, the use of cryptocurrencies as legal tender or coin faces government regulation or much worst, a total ban. Should this affect your perception of Neurogress? New key partnerships are in progress As the crypto market is embroiled in controversies arising from governments, the proponents of neuro-wearables or devices for harnessing the power of thought has explored teaming up with international organizations to form a community. The Neurogress team is dead-set with its timeline for developing a decentralized platform for neural control systems, based on the AI driven software and user-driven algorithm training. Using the user’s own brainpower to control electronics — software and hardware — as easy and natural as never before is their motivation, this is their dream, and by Jove, they will bring it to completion. Partnerships with the neurotechnology and biotechnology academic and thought leaders are just the beginning of many collaborations which fasttrack research and development and help mitigate prevailing circumstances. Concise and validated inputs from prestigious neurotechnology and biotechnology research institutions continue to refine their projects — for there are many. Assessing the landscape in several countries Neurogress is in the process of establishing working groups from different labs throughout the world that would explore the neurocontrol related tasks and advance the technological aspects. Those groups include (but not limited to) the following experts in the field: Alexander Kaplan, Prof., Ph.D., D.Sc. (http://brain.bio.msu.ru) Rex Yeap, DBA (http://ye.sg/bio) Sohila Zadran, Ph.D. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sohila-zadran-48581b79/) Dragan Toroman (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dragan-toroman-7a87072/) Nemanja Nikitovic (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nemanjanikitovic/) Neurogress hopes to link up with programs in Institutions to fasttrack all phases of their development work. These new research projects and exploratory/developmental research are open to individuals or teams who can contribute to current ongoing Neurogress research and development of innovative technologies, methodologies, or instrumentation for basic or clinical studies of the brain in human, incorporating existing clinical studies and validated results with their partners in the academia on animal models. Forming hubs and networks with Neurogress trailblazers Neurogress recently announced the extension of the concept of collaborative Neurocontrol approach by forming a hub based in Switzerland that would bring several significant scientific competencies from the fields of Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Big Data, Signal Processing, etc. Neurogress is also currently organizing different outlets (hubs) in different countries where Neurogress developments will happen. Neurogress is mission-bound to create outlets which will implement projects in direct partnership with local communities, with each beneficiary of the ecosystem fulfilling key roles in their local communities. Neurogress adherents (aptly called trailblazers) are designed to fit seamlessly into the community’s daily life, where they benefit by working on several projects which will utilize their skills. All have a part of a vision which gets clarified upon joining a community of like-minded individuals who all have the impetus and resilience to not give up. The Neurogress team persevere in the face of uncertain success but continue in building up, growing stronger together — not minding detractors who chose to obliterate others in their path. They have stepped outside of their comfort zones, steadfastly facing obstacles, asking people to take their chance with them, not projecting on failure — which is the hindrance to many well-intentioned projects — and persevering until they finally achieve every timeline, every milestone in our roadmap. In a recent interview, the Neurogress team revealed some crucial milestones: “We are developing the capability of embracing neurocontrol even faster by the means of value-added machine learning algorithms. Let’s train them together and make their applied use go mainstream. There will be a marketplace for these algorithms as well as a Maker zone marketplace. The more input we provide by training the algorithm for specific actions, the more effective it becomes. So, it’s really about the algorithms that are put into the core of neurocontrol technology and in return, the neurocontrol technology for our better and more productive well-being.” The Neurogress vision is to develop an entire ecosystem that will combine the interaction of clients, developers, designers, artists, technology enthusiasts, philanthropists — the list is endless and everyone can find themselves in it if they believe enough. The blueprint for the future is NOW, all can be a part of it. Based on the above outstanding developments, Neurogress has adjusted the Pre-TGE (Token Generation Event) to April 29 to for contributors to take advantage of the 50% Bonus for every Token purchased. | title | Free Your Mind with Neurotechnology: From Brain Meditation to Action Initiation |
| body | There’s a lot of commentary on the promise of neurotechnology in augmenting our intelligence and gaining access to more information. But we aren’t Vulcan. Intelligence and raw calculating power isn’t all there is to life. There are times when what we need most of all is the option to opt out, take a step back and free our minds. Neurotechnology can help with that too. Freeing our Minds with meditation While our neurotechnological future may be filled with amazing potential, it’s reasonable to imagine that the blending of the physical, digital and biological will place a significant additional burden on our brains. Devices are already on the market which introduce a gentle current to stimulate parts of the brain that trigger a deep relaxation state. But the technology is in its infancy. Because meditation is such a deeply personal and individualized experience, a game changer will be software that harnesses AI to learn how our brain works. Utilizing advanced AI, meditation neurotechnology may be able to deliver customized meditation experiences tailored perfectly to how each individual thinks. In seconds we may have access to states of relaxation it might otherwise have taken years to master. Neurogress is developing software which will pave the way for these kinds of advancements. Their approach has been to develop advanced AI which actively learns how each individual brain works and to work with these unique patterns to achieve a desired result. In the future, therefore, these devices will be far more sophisticated. The most valuable end result of neurotechnology may not be the ability to think faster after all. It may be the progress we make in self awareness and calm. Dialing up a moment of inspiration Humans have always used substances to enter altered states of consciousness. From shamans popping salvia to libertines of the sixties broadening their minds with LSD. Tweaking our brains to find that perfect moment of inspiration is not new but neurotechnology may offer new and novel ways to get there. For this to happen, technology will need to come to the party. Imagine a software powered by AI which moderates our brain functions to produce an out of body experience of inspiration. Given that this will be an electrically induced rather than chemically induced experience, we may have unprecedented control over intensity and duration. In this sense, seeking inspiration may become equal parts science and art. It’s speculation now, but the AI driven neurocontrol software that could pave the way for this option are in development today by Neurogress. The luxury of forgetting We talk a lot about the vast potential for using neurotechnology to enhance our memory; to have complete command over the tiny minutiae of our lives. But sometimes people want and even need the precise opposite. In recent years we’ve learned vast amounts about how memory works. Scientists are conducting research into the process of memory formation known as “reconsolidation,” which refers to the weird quirk of our brains that eery time we revisit a memory it becomes malleable again. Understanding this process has been a crucial shift in neuropsychology and it opens up the possibility that “scientists can step in and ‘hack’ our memories. The ability to free one’s mind from the burden of memories that harm us may be a release that changes some people’s lives. Think of the toll of conditions like PTSD have in our society today. The challenge and potential of neurotechnology is not just about filling our lives with more information. It’s also leading us to a point where we may be able to exert deep control over how our minds work and in so doing people may be able to find peace, inspiration or even the luxury to forget. Using the user’s own brainpower to control electronics - software and hardware - as easy and natural as never before is their motivation, this is their dream, and by Jove, they will bring it to completion. Partnerships with the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/jan/01/elon-musk-neurotechnology-human-enhancement-brain-computer-interfaces">neurotechnology</a> and biotechnology academic and thought leaders are just the beginning of many collaborations which fasttrack research and development and help mitigate prevailing circumstances. Concise and validated inputs from prestigious neurotechnology and biotechnology research institutions continue to refine their projects - for there are many. <b>Assessing the landscape in several countries</b> Neurogress is in the process of establishing working groups from different labs throughout the world that would explore the neurocontrol related tasks and advance the technological aspects. Those groups include (but not limited to) the following experts in the field: • Alexander Kaplan, Prof., Ph.D., D.Sc. (<a href="http://brain.bio.msu.ru/">http://brain.bio.msu.ru</a>) • Rex Yeap, DBA (<a href="http://ye.sg/bio">http://ye.sg/bio</a>) • Sohila Zadran, Ph.D. (<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/sohila-zadran-48581b79/">https://www.linkedin.com/in/sohila-zadran-48581b79/</a>) • Dragan Toroman (<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/dragan-toroman-7a87072/">https://www.linkedin.com/in/dragan-toroman-7a87072/</a>) • Nemanja Nikitovic (<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nemanjanikitovic/">https://www.linkedin.com/in/nemanjanikitovic/</a>) Neurogress hopes to link up with programs in Institutions to <a href="http://www.livebitcoinnews.com/interview-neurogress-team/">fasttrack</a> all phases of their development work. Neurogress adherents (aptly called <a href="https://www.inc.com/kelli-richards/4-characteristics-of-trailblazing-entrepreneurs.html">trailblazers</a>) are designed to fit seamlessly into the community's daily life, where they benefit by working on several projects which will utilize their skills. All have a part of a vision which gets clarified upon joining a community of like-minded individuals who all have the impetus and resilience to not give up. The Neurogress team persevere in the face of uncertain success but continue in building up, growing stronger together - not minding detractors who chose to obliterate others in their path. They have stepped outside of their comfort zones, steadfastly facing obstacles, asking people to take their chance with them, not projecting on failure - which is the hindrance to many well-intentioned projects - and persevering until they finally achieve every timeline, every milestone in our roadmap. In a recent <a href="http://www.livebitcoinnews.com/interview-neurogress-team/">interview</a>, the Neurogress team revealed some crucial milestones: “We are developing the capability of embracing neurocontrol even faster by the means of value-added machine learning algorithms. Let’s train them together and make their applied use go mainstream. There will be a marketplace for these algorithms as well as a Maker zone marketplace. The more input we provide by training the algorithm for specific actions, the more effective it becomes. So, it’s really about the algorithms that are put into the core of neurocontrol technology and in return, the neurocontrol technology for our better and more productive well-being.” The Neurogress vision is to develop an entire ecosystem that will combine the interaction of clients, developers, designers, artists, technology enthusiasts, philanthropists - the list is endless and everyone can find themselves in it if they believe enough. The blueprint for the future is NOW, all can be a part of it. Based on the above outstanding developments, Neurogress has adjusted the Pre-TGE (Token Generation Event) to April 29 to for contributors to take advantage of the 50% Bonus for every Token purchased. "body": "<h4>50% Bonus Still Available at its Pre-TGE Extended to 29 April 2018</h4>\n \n<h5>“The Neurogress mission is to develop software for controlling electronics and machinery via a thought-controlled interface.”</h5>\n \n <b>Switzerland, 21 March 2018:</b> Neurogress is pleased to announce its ongoing communication with several International Organizations to fasttrack the Neurogress roadmap. \n\nBased on the feedback of their partners and gaining a lot of interest from fiat economy to support the project, Neurogress welcomes additional financing from grants and traditional contributors. The website will also be opened to countries that are currently restricted in the pre-TGE phase and thus, help disseminate Neurogress concept and ideas, and additionally attract more interest from potential traditional contributors. \n\n<b>Current situation of the Neurotechnology market</b>\n\nNeurocontrol is a technology at the intersection of multiple fields, each one compared to rocket science in complexity. For the advancement of the technology, they will partner with startups, academic organisations, research institutions and other competent players in the field. This approach is to ensure that the Ecosystem can benefit from ideas, knowledge, and experience.\n\nMoreover, Neurogress is interested in joining efforts with major players in every industry it aims to enter, such as drones or AR/MR/VR in order to ensure that our expertise is not limited to neurocontrol, but also extend to the industries they plan to work with. This way, they ensure that neurocontrolled devices remain competitive compared to pseudo-interface controlled devices.\n\n<b>Neurogress is not a crypto-exchange platform, but an <a href=\"https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/02/09/neurogress-decentralized-neuro-controlled-systems/\">ecosystem</a>. </b>\n\nCrypto markets are facing another round of volatility—with many claiming this new drop is related to recent news. Although there is much excitement about exploring the use of blockchain technology proactively for ushering in digital economy, the use of cryptocurrencies as legal tender or coin faces government regulation or much worst, a total ban. | title | Who do You Think You are? How do We Keep Focus on Ourselves when Controlling Human-Like Robots? |
| body | Right now, neurotechnology is a catalyst for some pretty amazing changes — not just in relation to the cool devices we will have at our disposal, but to society at large. One such innovation with gigantic potential to radically transform society is thought controlled robotics. Neurogress is a pioneer innovator in neurotechnology. They’re developing software which utilizes AI to greatly enhance the human brain’s ability to directly control devices. Whereas your average human brain might previously have managed a handful of signals after a year’s training, through Neurogress’ technology people are able to learn an entire suite of complex brain commands in a fraction of the time — just weeks. Couple this with the insane progress we’re seeing in robotics and it isn’t hard to connect the dots. Sooner than could possibly have been imagined a mere twenty years ago, robotic surrogates may be making a dramatic entry into our daily lives. The question is, even if the technology can allow it, can our meagre fleshy human brains actually cope with the additional mental pressures of effectively being in two places at once? How on earth will we manage to focus? Even if the technology is there, are we ready for it as a species? To rise to the challenge, society will have to catch up with technology. Power down zones Even today, we’re seeing the beginning of this. We’ve all been in that situation where we’re engrossed in a detailed conversation and one of the speakers needs to call a temporary halt, pick up a device and deal with some pressing online business. Sure it’s annoying, but most people get that there just needs to be a certain level of tolerance for multitasking. Fifty years from now when people may be splitting their focus dynamically across one (or even more) thought controlled devices, a deep mutual tolerance of distraction will be essential if we’re going to get along. Maybe it’s a little out there, but here’s my prediction: I think “power down” zones will pop up throughout big cities. Think of it as a cafe for our surrogate selves. Busy folks will park their secondary self there to recharge while they need to devote their full attention elsewhere. Then when they feel ready they can wake their surrogate up with a mental command and return to their dual-focused day. Coping with the ‘uncanny valley’ Right now, a huge amount of attention is going into understanding a phenomenon known as the ‘uncanny valley’. “The concept of the uncanny valley suggests that humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers.” If a face blinks at a slightly strange rate, if a smile is too broad or too narrow, if hand gestures are just a tiny bit out of sync with speech, we humans have an amazing knack of noticing it and not liking it at a visceral level. So when we are surrounded by not-quite-human analogs, how will we react? Will we begin to incorporate a new body language into reading people? Will we need to develop a new system for conveying emotions and intent? Somehow society will need to arrive at answers to these really weird questions. We will gain new respect for sleep and calm It’s reasonable to imagine that the “integration of the physical, digital and biological realms” will place an additional burden on our brains. Being in multiple places at once won’t always be easy! Fortunately, neurotechnology may provide an answer in the form of stimulating the brain to produce a meditative, calm state. As meditation is such an individualized and subjective process, a game changer will be software that draws from advanced AI to truly understand how our brain works. Utilizing AI, relaxation inducing neurotechnology may be able to deliver highly customized meditation experiences made to fit perfectly with how each individual thinks. We’re seeing the beginnings of this now in fact. Neurogress is developing software which utilizes advanced AI to actively learn how each individual brain works and to work with these unique patterns to achieve a desired result. Taking time to ourselves to re-center may become an important feature of many people’s lives and one that society comes to respect far more than it does now. Neurotechnology innovation is creating new challenges for we as individuals but also for society at large. The extraordinary pay off is that we may achieve the productivity Shangri La of being two places at once! "title": "Who do You Think You are? How do We Keep Focus on Ourselves when Controlling Human-Like Robots?",
"body": "\nRight now, neurotechnology is a catalyst for some pretty amazing changes — not just in relation to the cool devices we will have at our disposal, but to society at large. One such innovation with gigantic potential to radically transform society is thought controlled robotics.\n\nNeurogress is a pioneer innovator in neurotechnology. Sooner than could possibly have been imagined a mere twenty years ago, robotic surrogates may be making a dramatic entry into our daily lives.\n\nThe question is, even if the technology can allow it, can our meagre fleshy human brains actually cope with the additional mental pressures of effectively being in two places at once? How on earth will we manage to focus? Even if the technology is there, are we ready for it as a species? To rise to the challenge, society will have to catch up with technology.\n\nPower down zones\nEven today, we’re seeing the beginning of this. We’ve all been in that situation where we’re engrossed in a detailed conversation and one of the speakers needs to call a temporary halt, pick up a device and deal with some pressing online business. Sure it’s annoying, but most people get that there just needs to be a certain level of tolerance for multitasking.\n\nFifty years from now when people may be splitting their focus dynamically across one (or even more) thought controlled devices, a deep mutual tolerance of distraction will be essential if we’re going to get along.\n\nMaybe it’s a little out there, but here’s my prediction: I think “power down” zones will pop up throughout big cities. Think of it as a cafe for our surrogate selves. Busy folks will park their secondary self there to recharge while they need to devote their full attention elsewhere. Then when they feel ready they can wake their surrogate up with a mental command and return to their dual-focused day.\n\nCoping with the ‘uncanny valley’\nRight now, a huge amount of attention is going into understanding a phenomenon known as the ‘uncanny valley’.\n\n“The concept of the uncanny valley suggests that humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers.”\n\nIf a face blinks at a slightly strange rate, if a smile is too broad or too narrow, if hand gestures are just a tiny bit out of sync with speech, we humans have an amazing knack of noticing it and not liking it at a visceral level. So when we are surrounded by not-quite-human analogs, how will we react? Will we begin to incorporate a new body language into reading people? Will we need to develop a new system for conveying emotions and intent? Somehow society will need to arrive at answers to these really weird questions.\n\nWe will gain new respect for sleep and calm\nIt’s reasonable to imagine that the “integration of the physical, digital and biological realms” will place an additional burden on our brains. Being in multiple places at once won’t always be easy! Fortunately, neurotechnology may provide an answer in the form of stimulating the brain to produce a meditative, calm state.\n\nAs meditation is such an individualized and subjective process, a game changer will be software that draws from advanced AI to truly understand how our brain works. Utilizing AI, relaxation inducing neurotechnology may be able to deliver highly customized meditation experiences made to fit perfectly with how each individual thinks. We’re seeing the beginnings of this now in fact. Neurogress is developing software which utilizes advanced AI to actively learn how each individual brain works and to work with these unique patterns to achieve a desired result.\n\nTaking time to ourselves to re-center may become an important feature of many people’s lives and one that society comes to respect far more than it does now.\n\nNeurotechnology innovation is creating new challenges for we as individuals but also for society at large. The extraordinary pay off is that we may achieve the productivity Shangri La of being two places at once! Invest in the interactive mind-controlled devices of the future by buying tokens now and help to promote innovation.\n\nInvest in the interactive mind-controlled devices of the future by buying tokens now.\nVisit https://neurogress.io/",

| body | One possibly daunting aspect of a neurotechnological future is that there will be a proliferation of information sources in our lives. Data may no longer be seen as separate from our immediate understanding of reality, but rather intricately bound up with our five senses. We may find ourselves awash in an informational rich wonderland, spoiled for choice at every turn about what challenges and entertainments our minds are presented with. How will we choose what to think about in this kind of world? And perhaps more importantly, what options might we have for reducing the number of thoughts rattling around in our amped up brains? | title | Can We Already Stop Typing And Touching? |
| body | Through neurotechnology, we will see an ever-increasing number of devices controlled by thought, from toasters to game controllers and ultimately, to more complex systems such as our computers and the tools we use. In the process, our hands will become less relevant in manipulating data and working with technology. This won’t just impact our convenience, but will also cause a fundamental shift in how we design the tools which serve us. Artificial intelligence will only serve to increase the scope of what we can do. Getting Rid of Buttons Neurotechnology innovator Neurogress plans to begin extending neurocontrolled devices to the Internet Of Things (a term used to refer to the vast majority of devices that are accessible via the internet) in the very near future. This is projected to be a $1.4 trillion industry by 2020. Neurogress’ vision is that the brain will become the primary controller for a whole ecosystem of devices and tools; devices that today rely on a clunky touch / button / dial interface. Imagine driving home from work and mentally activating your lights and thermostat. When you walk through the door, you may decide to switch on some relaxing music. None of this will require any physical interaction with a device. Neurogress sees this transition as a major focus of their approach to innovation. In their words: “The ability to change the environment by the power of thought removes the additional barriers and pseudointerfaces that mankind has created over the years to control devices.” The Implications for Ergonomics But is this shift to thought-controlled devices just a neat way to avoid getting cookie crumbs on our phone screens or is there more to it than the convenience of taking our food-eatin’ fingers out of the equation? I think there’s more to it. Think of your typical game controller and how it’s configured. It’s just one example of how we make our interfaces with ten fingers in mind. Once you eliminate the pinky (which let’s face it, is pretty but basically useless for doing stuff) your standard human can activate about eight things at once. What happens when the brain becomes the means by which we manipulate things? As our minds become accustomed to this, there may be amazing implications for how much we can do. Bringing AI into That Equation AI is adding to the possibilities. Neurogress is working on software that harnesses increasing capabilities of AI to learn and adapt to our brain signals. As they develop this technology, we’re learning that with a computer assist, our brains can send far more unique signals. We may reach a point where it becomes second nature to manipulate data or even objects in intricate ways that our clunky, meaty fingers had no chance of achieving. In this way, tools and toys may evolve to become more complex and powerful as we shed the need to physically interact with them. Neurotechnology innovation is changing how we interact with the world and how we get stuff done. Invest in the interactive mind-controlled devices of the future by buying tokens now. As they develop this technology, we’re learning that with a computer assist, our brains can send far more unique signals. We may reach a point where it becomes second nature to manipulate data or even objects in intricate ways that our clunky, meaty fingers had no chance of achieving.\n\nIn this way, tools and toys may evolve to become more complex and powerful as we shed the need to physically interact with them.\n\nNeurotechnology innovation is changing how we interact with the world and how we get stuff done.\n\nInvest in the interactive mind-controlled devices of the future by buying tokens now.
