bodyI swapped regular whey for [goat whey protein](https://www.znaturalfoods.com/products/goat-whey-protein-concentrate) a few weeks back because cow dairy messes with my stomach, and it's been so much easier to digest. The taste's slightly different but blends fine with peanut butter and bananas. I also noticed less bloating afterwards, which is a win if you’re drinking these shakes daily.

bodyYou were 16, beautiful, innocent, fragile, and in love with me. I was... older, egocentric, selfish, but worst of all, betrothed to another. Chance brought us together, but it felt like fate. From the moment you opened up to me, I knew you were like me. I could see the darkness inside you, feel the weight of your depression as if it were my own, because years ago, it was my own. You suffer in the same way that I used to. Your mind turns the same gears that mine did, so I knew what to say to give you hope. I knew you better than anyone else, because we were products of very similar environments. No parents, no real friends, and too much time to sit alone and think. I didn't realize I could empathize with someone so much. I wanted nothing more than to lead you out of your depression. I had been lost in those woods for many years and made it out to see the other side. I just wanted to help you do the same. I had to constantly remind myself of my position: I was shepherd, a mentor, an older brother. That was where my role was to end. Any signs I saw of something more developing were to be exiled to the farthest reaches of my mind. Those thoughts were unbecoming of my role and had to be curtailed. I told myself it would be impossible for you to have those feelings. I told myself that you saw me in the same role I saw myself. There were so many things I saw as deterrents from your perspective: the age gap, my looks, my job, my family. Put all of it together and there was no way you would develop feelings for me. The reason I told myself all of this was because of how afraid I was that the opposite might be true. If I knew you actually did harbor those feelings for me, I wouldn't be able to stop myself. You wrote me a goodbye letter when you moved. You thanked me for all the help I had given you, and you actually sounded like you were hopeful for the future. You sprayed your perfume on the letter. Every time I smelled it, I saw your face smiling at me. It was innocent and unrestrained, then you would realize how much you were letting show and you would look away, but the smile persisted on your lips. It should have ended there. A letter goodbye, sad but heartwarming. It was the way it was destined to end. But I just couldn't let it. I gave you a scrap of paper with nothing more than my phone number. Sometimes I wonder had I resisted that action, would fate had brought us back together? Were we doomed from the start? I guess that's not important because either way it was my own actions that caused this. It took a while, but you finally contacted me. You had hurt yourself, but it hadn't helped. I knew you had tried to kill yourself just a few months ago and I was worried it might happen again. I got in my car and drove to you. We went to the park and talked. Hours went by like minutes, and you finally started smiling again. We were both hungry, so we went to a restaurant afterwards. It felt a lot like a date. I was still trying to ignore those feelings at that point. I was just happy I could help you The next time you contacted me, it was for a much different reason. "I love you." The words echoed like a song in a concert hall. I didn't know what to say back. Your forwardness was out of character and had caught me off guard. I said it back. I said it back because I knew it was true. I said it back because the empathy I had with you let me feel what it would be like to be the first one to say it in this situation and not hear it back. After your phone call, I went and laid in bed next to my future wife. I wasn't sure how to feel. How could I love two people at the same time? I fell asleep feeling an awkward fusion of passion and emptiness. It wasn't long after that we saw each other again. It was late, and we went to the park again. It felt like the elephant in the room had one foot on my chest. I didn't know where to begin with this convoluted mess we needed to sort out. I raised my objections first: this was cheating, you would get hurt in the long run, we would only see each other very occasionally, I had a family. All conventional wisdom said this was wrong. But saying it didn't make me feel it, and it didn't make you change your mind either. There was too much tension, too much passion waiting to be given the smallest pinhole of an escape so it could burst through. I let it do just that when I kissed you. That strange dilation of time seemed to happen again as it had felt like we were only kissing for minutes, but suddenly my lips were chapped and the sun was rising. I had to make up a story when I returned home. I don't remember what it was, but I knew it stank of lies. Nonetheless it was believed by a devoted woman far too good for me. It didn't even feel bad telling it. Not because I didn't care, but because I knew it was the only way to preserve our relationship. I couldn't bear the thought of losing the one who had been there with me for so many years. Lying was the only option I would allow myself. We didn't see each other more than a handful of times, but every time, words faded into lips locking and learning each others' bodies. Your skin was softer than I had ever felt on another person, your body was a pristine nubile temple, and I was unworthy of exploring it. I was by no mean inexperienced, but I had never experienced someone as perfect as you. We didn't even see each other enough for my memories of you to meld together with time. I remember each time I saw you as a distinct and separate memory. I remember the last time. We didn't know it would be the last time. Normally when my hands began to pull at your panties, you would stop me, but this time you didn't. This time you gave me an intense look of desire and anticipation. It was your first time, it was our only time. The very next day, she found out. I woke up with a fist to the stomach and immediately I knew she knew. I could have lied. I know she just wanted to be told that she was overreacting, that my strange disappearances were anything besides infidelity. I saw the way out and my first instinct was to start down that path, but I immediately choked up. I suddenly felt the weight of all the lies I had told, how cruel I had been to use the trust and love we had built over years as a weapon in my own campaign of desire. I realized how far I had strayed from who I was. I couldn't lie. My body wouldn't let me, so I told the truth. I expected to be scorned, banished, and ostracized. Instead, I was given a choice between a girl I desired and a woman I loved. I didn't have to think about my choice. I knew it in my bones. This woman was truly too good for me, but if she was giving me another chance, despite everything she had ever said about cheating, I would take it and I would never let her regret that decision. The past month, I had been nothing but evil to her, and she still had the ability to love me and want to be with me forever. I couldn't believe it was true, but I would do all I could to preserve it. I had to tell the other my decision. With one conversation, I shattered her innocence, trust, and happiness. I had told her time and again that I would always be there for her. I told her she didn't need to worry about me leaving like her parents had, like her friends had. I was different. I wasn't. All the good I had done was swept away and pain took its place. I could have ended this on a good note had I just the strength to let it go, but I sewed selfishness, and now it was time to reap the reward. I could never see her, never talk to her, never help her with anything again. I had to personally rip out all the joy and hope I had planted in her. Every sweet word to ever come out of my mouth turned to ash and was blown away in an instant. I could nothing to comfort her like I always had before. I could give her no words of wisdom, no motivation. I'm not sure who it hurt more to betray, but at least with one I am able to spend every day atoning for my misdeeds. I can bring her happiness. At least I can give her that much. I don't know what ever happened to that girl. I have never heard from her. I don't know if she is happy, in love, alive, if she hates me, or if she misses me. The lack of closure is what hurts the most. The inability to atone for those sins nags at me every day. But this is the path I have traveled, and every time I begin to feel sorry for myself, I am reminded that they were my own choices and the only good that may ever come of it is my devotion to the woman I chose to be with. I will never forgive myself for what I did, but I will use it to make myself a better person. I will always remember the hurt and pain I caused and I will do everything in my power to offset it with love and selflessness. ![0423u21.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQme6FGD5Re5wuaS5JiXg3xSJxhEfKckPbV16qRFDfLKtqP/0423u21.jpg)

"body": "You were 16, beautiful, innocent, fragile, and in love with me. I was... older, egocentric, selfish, but worst of all, betrothed to another.\n\nChance brought us together, but it felt like fate. \n\nI had to constantly remind myself of my position: I was shepherd, a mentor, an older brother. If I knew you actually did harbor those feelings for me, I wouldn't be able to stop myself.\n\nYou wrote me a goodbye letter when you moved. I guess that's not important because either way it was my own actions that caused this.\n\nIt took a while, but you finally contacted me. I was just happy I could help you\n\nThe next time you contacted me, it was for a much different reason. \"I love you.\" The words echoed like a song in a concert hall. I fell asleep feeling an awkward fusion of passion and emptiness.\n\nIt wasn't long after that we saw each other again. \n\nI had to make up a story when I returned home. Lying was the only option I would allow myself.\n\nWe didn't see each other more than a handful of times, but every time, words faded into lips locking and learning each others' bodies. Your skin was softer than I had ever felt on another person, your body was a pristine nubile temple, and I was unworthy of exploring it. I was by no mean inexperienced, but I had never experienced someone as perfect as you. \n\nWe didn't even see each other enough for my memories of you to meld together with time. bodyI looked around me. I was sitting on a bench at Sacajawea Park. It was a beautiful day out. The sky was so clear I could see the gradient of light blue fading to dark blue where the earth's atmosphere fades into space. A group of kids ran by, squealing with laughter. My eyes followed them and I was a bit startled to realize there was someone sitting next to me on the bench. He looked to be in his early thirties, wearing a worn blue baseball cap, a plain white t shirt and a pair of khaki cargo shorts. He wore a knowing smile that reminded me a bit of my father when I was a child. "Sorry, I didn't see you there young fella." I said to him. I had taken to calling everyone "young fella" back when I turned 60 and officially became a senior citizen. I got more of a kick out of it than anyone I ever said it to. "Young fella?" He said back with a soft laugh, "I think it's safe to say I have more than a few years on you." I sat puzzled for a second, thinking I had heard him wrong, but then I noticed my hand. The skin looked young and supple. The hair on my arms was dark and my arms were more muscled than I was used to seeing. I sat gaping at my body. "Allow me to explain, I'm God." I was hesitant to take what he said at face value. My mind needed time to process everything that was going on. "That's a typical reaction" he continued, "It's a lot to fathom, but ask yourself, 'why am I in my 20 year old body with my 81 years of memories, at a park in the town I grew up in, even though I live over 500 miles away from there and I have no recollection of how I got here.'" I was stunned. It was as if he was in my mind deeper than I was. Like he had plucked all these thoughts that my mind was trying to disentangle out and set them out for me. "Because this is a dream." I managed to squeak out, only half believing myself. "Actually, you're kind of right. This is a lot like a dream, but directed by me instead of the static of your mind." "H-How?" I asked him, not intently staring at him. "Magic!" He said as he wiggled his fingers at me in a jazzy manner. We both chuckled, but when my stare persisted he continued. "I could explain it to you, but even with a PhD in Neuropsychology, a lot of it would go over your head. Besides, we don't have forever to sit and talk." Suddenly I was filling up with all the questions I should have been asking since he introduced himself, "What am I doing here? How long do we have?" I said hurriedly. "You're dying... natural causes." he said softly. The look on his face conveyed more empathy than anyone I had met before. "I find that people do better if I don't tell them how long we have. Inevitably, they end up counting down the time in the back of their mind." "So... what happens... after. When I'm dead? Where do I go?" I nervously asked. He was quiet for a while before he spoke. "Nothing." I felt a cold shock go through my body. "I'm not the kind of god that the religious followers make me out to be. Creating life was somewhat of an accident on my part, and unfortunately, I can't bestow immortality upon any one. When you die, that's it. It goes back to being like before you were born." We sat in silence for a few seconds. Me, trying to fathom the gravity of everything he was telling me, and him, trying to comfort me through fatherly looks. Finally, he broke the silence. "I understand this isn't what you hoped for. Especially after meeting me, you probably got the impression there was an afterlife." "I understand." I cut him off a bit, but not because I was angry. "It makes sense. The afterlife was a notion created by humans. You never led us on in that regard. It's funny now that I think about it. If there was an afterlife, it would be Earth. We would simply be immortal beings from birth." "Yes. Perhaps one day I can make that so, but up until now, simply creating life was pushing the limits of my abilities. I'm not a god, not truly. It's only in comparison to humans that I seem godlike. Without that, I am simply an entity." I nodded at him. It was all I could do. I was still full of questions, but they felt so futile. It was an uncomfortable dichotomy. I was filled with questions that I craved to know, but now the answers all felt so worthless. What good would they do me? I smiled, patted him on the shoulder, and said "I appreciate it, young fella." I briskly jogged my way over to the playground. I grabbed onto the monkey bars and did a few pullups with such ease I was afraid I might launch myself into the sky. It felt so good to be so mobile again, the dull ache in my right knee gone as if it had never existed. I brought my feet up to hang on the bars and let myself hang upside down. I looked back toward the bench. I saw him smiling as he ran over to join me on the monkey bars. https://rushfitness.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/monkey-bars.jpg

bodyI see a great storm happen Once in a year The black clouds roll in Bringing thunderous roars And it always scares me How quickly it comes A sunny afternoon Swept away before me It once was the case That I fled inside At the sight of black clouds To weather the storm through I shut all the shudders And turned on the lights But the shudders would flail against my walls And the lights would fade I would wait out the storm Wait it out through blackness But you showed me how silly it was To be afraid of a storm You took my by the hand Led me outside to see That a storm was nothing more Than thunder and rain And wind in the trees You sat next to me Until the storm passed Smiled and told me There would be an end The sun would come shine The sky would be blue again It's times like now When the sky begins to darken I think of you And I go wait outside Wait for the storm that is near Because I know it's what you'd do If you were still here https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/cc/c1/70/ccc1708e946e7b8b30e35a98647ee321.jpg

bodyThe three amigos were out in Scar's dad's shop with a propane torch and a pair of butter knives for the usual weekend ritual: Getting the three of us high off of $10 of weed. This time, however, we had invited a forth friend to make our trio a quartet. The fourth friend had never smoked anything before, but we were apt to show him our ways. For those of you unfamiliar with knife hits, the idea is to heat the ends of two butter knives in the flame of a propane torch or similar heat source until the ends are red hot. You then pinch a small amount of weed with the hot ends, while your friend uses a soda bottle that has been cut in half to trap and inhale the smoke. It's a good way to get the most out of your weed if money is tight, like it was for us at 16. Back to the story: So Tuck, the newest addition to our smoking group has watched the rest of us take a knife hit and it's his turn to try for the first time. He readies himself with the soda bottle while Scar heats up the knifes. As soon as the knives hit the weed, he bends over and takes a deep hit through the bottle. He raises back up and a streak of hair on the top of his head has been singed. While bending over, his head had fallen in the path of the propane torch, and by some miracle, it had only grazed his hair. His hair was not long by any means, and judging by the burned hairs, he came within a quarter of an inch to taking a blowtorch flame to the scalp. ### Woh... that was close. http://s3.amazonaws.com/bvsystem_tmp/pages/1296/original/xlibber%20Flickr%20propane%20torch%20plumbing%20tools%20bob%20vila%203257353199_316079a59e_b.jpg Of course in our inebriated state, after the realization that something disastrous almost happened, we had a good laugh about it. Tuck had too good of a laugh about it, and it was clear that he was very high off of his first hit. After a few more times around the circle, we had exhausted all the weed and had one serious case of the munchies. We decided to go to walk to the nearest convenience store, at which point Tuck begins to have a mild freak out. *"I'm so high, I can't go. I'm too high!"* Fret not, I know how to fix this. I grab Tuck by the shoulders, square up with him, and look him straight in the eyes. *"You're not high."* I say to him in my most convincing tone. Suddenly his eyes light up as though I've just relieved him of this huge burden. He grins from ear to ear and repeats back to me, *"I'm not high."* But before I could pat myself on the back for a job well done, he begins skipping through Scar's back yard shouting **"I'M NOT HIGH! I'M NOT HIIIIGH!"** We had to tackle him before he woke everyone in the house up, but afterward we made the munchy run without any further incident.

"body": "The three amigos were out in Scar's dad's shop with a propane torch and a pair of butter knives for the usual weekend ritual: Getting the three of us high off of $10 of weed. This time, however, we had invited a forth friend to make our trio a quartet. The fourth friend had never smoked anything before, but we were apt to show him our ways. \n\nFor those of you unfamiliar with knife hits, the idea is to heat the ends of two butter knives in the flame of a propane torch or similar heat source until the ends are red hot. You then pinch a small amount of weed with the hot ends, while your friend uses a soda bottle that has been cut in half to trap and inhale the smoke. It's a good way to get the most out of your weed if money is tight, like it was for us at 16.\n\nBack to the story: So Tuck, the newest addition to our smoking group has watched the rest of us take a knife hit and it's his turn to try for the first time. His hair was not long by any means, and judging by the burned hairs, he came within a quarter of an inch to taking a blowtorch flame to the scalp.\n\n### Woh... that was close.\n\nhttp://s3.amazonaws.com/bvsystem_tmp/pages/1296/original/xlibber%20Flickr%20propane%20torch%20plumbing%20tools%20bob%20vila%203257353199_316079a59e_b.jpg\n\nOf course in our inebriated state, after the realization that something disastrous almost happened, we had a good laugh about it. Tuck had too good of a laugh about it, and it was clear that he was very high off of his first hit. \n\nAfter a few more times around the circle, we had exhausted all the weed and had one serious case of the munchies. We decided to go to walk to the nearest convenience store, at which point Tuck begins to have a mild freak out. \n*\"I'm so high, I can't go. I'm too high!\"*\nFret not, I know how to fix this. I grab Tuck by the shoulders, square up with him, and look him straight in the eyes. \n*\"You're not high.\"* I say to him in my most convincing tone. Suddenly his eyes light up as though I've just relieved him of this huge burden. He grins from ear to ear and repeats back to me, *\"I'm not high.\"*\nBut before I could pat myself on the back for a job well done, he begins skipping through Scar's back yard shouting **\"I'M NOT HIGH! I'M NOT HIIIIGH!\"** \n\nWe had to tackle him before he woke everyone in the house up, but afterward we made the munchy run without any further incident.",

bodyYou have been in the maze for 2 days. 2 days since your last meal and 2 days since water last touched your lips. You have grown exhausted. Every part of your body aches and your legs threaten to give out from under you with every step. The maze has been treacherous: full of pitfalls and hidden traps. It is a wonder you have made it this far. The stone walls surrounding are cold and unforgiving. You deliriously stumble around the next corner. Towering before you is the mythical Minotaur. You blink for a long second, expecting it to be gone when you open your eyes, but he does not disappear. He stands in the middle of a fork in the path. Before you can turn to run, you hear his deep, booming voice: *"One of these paths leads to the exit of the maze. The other leads into the maze for eternity. Answer my riddle correctly, and I will lead you to the exit of the maze. Answer incorrectly, and you will be left to chose for yourself"* In your stupor of exhaustion and disbelief you manage to nod to the Minotaur. *"Which of these 2 paths leads to the maze's exit?"* Assuming the Minotaur speaks the truth, how do you answer his riddle? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nn_PLqE6Q6Y/U5KNpj24EII/AAAAAAAABk4/skL7zJKqxJY/s1600/minotaur.jpg

body## Having a Ball The party was tasked with an unorthodox mission: steal a very important necklace from a baron's daughter at an annual ball hosted at the baron's manner. Perfect opportunity for the charismatic rogue and clever wizard to be the stars of the show. Not such a good opportunity for the devious fighter and dimwitted barbarian. The rogue and wizard have no problem sneaking into the ball and blending in with the crowd, but the swordswingers are left outside with the instructions to only enter if it becomes obvious that there is trouble. Of course this is too boring for the pair, so they wander around the manor looking for an alternative entrance. They just so happen to find one, but it's locked. The fighter/alchemist wannabe uses a very potent acid to eat through the door hinges. The two now find themselves in a large pantry. On the opposite wall is an open doorway leading into the kitchen. Smells of roasted duck, pork, and all sorts of exotic fruit fill the air. Such a feast simply cannot go unmolested in the presence of our two anti-heros. They make their way into the kitchen and begin dining upon the feast. Not 1 minute into the plunder, a cook enters the kitchen with a horrified look on his face. Before he can scream, the barbarian shoves an entire roast duck down his throat, simultaneously breaking his trachea and suffocating him. As this is happening, another cook walks in, turns and runs. The fighter and barbarian chase him into the main ball room, where near 100 people are dancing and socializing. There is an awkward pause before a woman screams, and the two begin slashing through everybody in the room. The guards stay to fight, but most run for their lives. From the second story, the wizard screams *What the hell!?* He is not amused, but he casts a fireball to prevent anyone from escaping and causing further troubles. Through all of the slaughter and mayhem, the rogue is not seen. When everyone lay on the ground, and the manor is in flames, the rogue comes out of the baron's daughter's bedchambers with the necklace. He takes one look at the fighter and the barbarian and says, "You had one job." ## Fortunate Son The party was on a mission to find the portal to the abyss. This took them to the ruins of an underground kingdom. Of course before they can reach it, they're going to have to cross a very narrow bridge over a ravine of infinite darkness. Think Indiana Jones going for the holy grail http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/indianajones/images/4/42/Indy_on_the_invisible_bridge.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120814131324 So the party goes single file down this bridge, praying nothing decides to attack us in this most vulnerable time. Of course that's not the case. A group of harpies come screeching at the party. Everyone starts running across the bridge so they can fight on more stable footing. The entire party makes it across, well almost. See, the ranger had a pet hyena named Mittens. Mittens was too skittish to run across the bridge. The ranger screams at mittens to come to him, and the hyena begins carefully making its way over, when 3 of the harpies swoop down on it. Now, it's important to note that we like to use music when we play D&D. Generally its the kind of stuff you would expect to hear in movies when a battle is taking place, and that was true at this moment, but as the three harpies pushed Mittens into an abyss of infinite blackness, the song *Fortunate Son* starts to play, and we all give a salute to the fallen hyena, whom would die of dehydration before ever hitting the bottom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMUBWKJ5A_0
