| body | Good day guys, have you ever imagined how a cell phone works, do u have a real and acceptable explanation on how it works,do you even know its history, do you know the different access technology? .well, some people will be like no while some yes ,no problem . In this post I'm going to explain all of those . Alright, let me start by telling you what a cell phone is,Its also known as cellular phone or a mobile. The word ''mobile'' .It's a portable and wireless communication device that uses small cell with a base station and a cell phone tower at the centre of each cell that can make and receive call over radio frequency within a telephone service area.If not within the service area, should i say the mobile phone is useless ? Well lets carry on. #### History and evolution of cell phone Have introduced to you a cell phone ,and as you should know android,iPhones etc are not the first of mobile phones, they have generations and was gradual as human evolved.... Source: https://goo.gl/images/Kmd2ks Based on Bell's cell network concept, the first handhield cell phone is **DynaTAC 8000x** introduced by a motorolla engineer called Martin Cooper in 1973 but before cell phones, they were car phones which weigh about 80 pounds, the car phone quickly became popular despite their limitations , only a limited number of people could use it and sometimes customers what about 30 mins to place a call. After the **DynaTAC 8000x**, years decades later, motorolla finally released a phone to the public. The delay was caused by the need to build cellular infrastructure the phone needs to operate. As communication advanced, in1991 the **IBM Simon** could be considered the first world smart phone, the first touch phone, and the first phone to have software applications after which in 1996 **motorolla Star TAC** was introduced which was the world first flip phone, in 2002 **Blackberry 5810** is introduced which is the first blackberry phone, followed by**T-mobile sidekick(2002)**. The best selling phone of all time Nokia 1100 also in 2002, Motorolla Razr V3(2004) introduced as at that time.in January 2007,Apple introduced Iphone .IPhone forever changed the computer industry and technology. The first phone to run on Andriod is **HTC dream**in 2008, Samsung first Galaxy phone is **samsung GT-17500**, the first phone completely designed by google is **Google pixel** in 2016. Todays cell phones have a far cry from the DynaTAC phone in 1973.it was easy in the inventions but today people use mobile phones as if it was easily created from day one .Thanks to the technology for bringing us together .if not for technology advancement we won't communicate on steem. ###### How do cell phone works and comparison with a walkie- talkie technology Cell phones are actually advanced radios, a full duplex device that's when two people are communicating using one frequency for talking and the other listening, both people can talk in a call at once. While the walkie- talkie is also a radio but a **half duplex** device that is when two people communicate using the same frequency. So only one person can talk at a time. The component of the cell phone is the cell,an area service is divided by the cell phone system into a set of which has a base station or tower at the centre which covers an area of about 2 /3 square meter. So the cell phone transmit signal or frequency to the tower which then connects to the telephone system to route the call. ###### what happens when someone calls you Lets say for instance your phone is off and you power it on, your searches for SID (System Identification code) control channel. The SID is a unique 5 digit number that is assigned to each carrier by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) . If the cell phone cannot find any control channel to listen to, it knows not is out of range and displays **no service**. http://www.rfcom.ca/primer/images/cell.gif But when it receives SID,it compares it to the SID programmed on the Phone.Once the SID match, the phone sends a registration request to the MTSO known as Mobile Telephone Switching Office. MTSO keeps track of your location in the database and also picks the frequency path that your phone will use in the cell network to pick the call. And once your phone and Tower switch on frequency, then your phone is connected and now you can communicate with each other ###### What are all these different access technologies we hear about: PCS, GSM, CDMA, and TDMA ?? Am going to be elaborating on this and as well the physics of cell phone.sooner or later. #### upvote, follow and resteem. Thank you. |

"body": "\n\n Good day guys, have you ever imagined how a cell phone works, do u have a real and acceptable explanation on how it works,do you even know its history, do you know the different access technology? .well, some people will be like no while some yes ,no problem . In this post I'm going to explain all of those .\n Alright, let me start by telling you what a cell phone is,Its also known as cellular phone or a mobile. The word ''mobile'' .It's a portable and wireless communication device that uses small cell with a base station and a cell phone tower at the centre of each cell that can make and receive call over radio frequency within a telephone service area.If not within the service area, should i say the mobile phone is useless ? | body | ### CONTENTS· · Introduction · Process of cloud formation · Observation · Classification of cloud · Measurement · Conclusion · Reference · Authors question #### Introduction A few days ago, I was on top of a four-story building in a cool evening all by Myself taking a nice cool breeze, I looked at the sky severally, so I wondered and asked myself this question ‘’How are clouds been formed’’. So I took my time making research on the process of cloud formation, not just that, I went further on its classification and measurement and I thought I should share this knowledge with my fellow steemians. I’m going to start by explaining to you what cloud is. Clouds are tiny droplets of water vapor, suspended and floating in the air, their forms, shapes, heights, and movements indicate the sky and weather conditions of a particular place. Places with an equal degree of cloudiness are joined by lines known as **Isonephs** on maps. Clouds are known to be caused due to rising air, which cools by expansion, leading to the formation of water vapor droplets. Clouds are also be formed by the temperature inversion. Cloud cover is known to aid the : 1. Formation of rain 2. Reflection of shortwave and radiation 3. Reduction of solar radiation #### Process of cloud formation Precipitation is a major factor that determines the water cycle, evaporation and transpiration is another factor in the water cycle, Through the process of evaporation and transpiration, water is taken into the atmosphere to form a vapor called **Water vapor** which then combines with the dust particles to form **Cloud**. Eventually, water returns back to the earth surface as precipitation in form of snow, rain, sleet, and hail. #### Observation 1. Have you ever observed clouds in the deserts, you seldom see clouds in the desert because there is very little water to evaporate and form the cloud? 2. Coastal regions receive a lot of rain because they collect moisture from surrounding water. #### Classification of cloud There four major classes or types of cloud-based on forms, height, and appearance. These are **[I]. High clouds**, **[II]. Medium clouds**, **[III]. Low clouds**, and **[IV]. Clouds with great vertical extent**. I. **HIGH CLOUDS**: There are three sub-types of high clouds which have a height of 6000-12000m 1. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2e/CirrusField-color.jpg/799px-CirrusField-color.jpg **Cirrus**: It is made up of small ice crystals; white, wispy, fibrous or feathery in appearance. It is the cloud with the highest vertical height , 2. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ad/Cirrocumulus_20040830.jpg/600px-Cirrocumulus_20040830.jpg **Cirrocumulus**: It is made up of ice crystals, looks like ripples in the mackerel sky forming a thin cloud. 3. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/Cirrostratus_with_mock_sun.jpg/640px-Cirrostratus_with_mock_sun.jpg **Cirrostratus**: This looks like a thin white milky cloud which is transparent and gives the sun and moon haloes. II. **MIDDLE CLOUDS**: There are two sub-types of this cloud with height 2100-600 degree m. 4. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/13/Altocumulus.jpg/220px-Altocumulus.jpg . **Alto cumulus**: This is woolly, bumpy clouds arranged in layers which appears like waves in the blue sky 5. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/15/Altostratus_clouds_over_Hong_Kong.JPG/640px-Altostratus_clouds_over_Hong_Kong.JPG **Altostratus**: This is denser, grayish cloud with a watery look. III. **LOW CLOUDS**: There are three sub-types of low clouds with height below 2100m. 6. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4b/Above_the_Clouds.jpg/220px-Above_the_Clouds.jpg **Stato cumulus**: This is rough, bumpy cloud with more pronounced wave than altocumulus. 7. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d1/Stratus-Opacus-Uniformis.jpg/640px-Stratus-Opacus-Uniformis.jpg **Stratus**: This is low cloud, uniformly grey and thick stratus can reduce the visibility of aircraft. 8. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4f/Ns1.jpg/220px-Ns1.jpg **Nimbostratus**: This is a dark, dull cloud, clearly layered. It is also called **Rain cloud** as it brings continuous rain, snow or sleet. IV. **CLOUDS OF GREAT VERTICAL EXTENT**: There are two sub-types of this and the height varies from 6000-9000m 9. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3c/GoldenMedows.jpg/300px-GoldenMedows.jpg **Cumulus**: It is a vertical cloud with a rounded top and horizontal base, typical of humid tropical regions. It is associated with uprising conventional current. 10. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5a/Sunnystormcloud.jpg/640px-Sunnystormcloud.jpg **Cumulonimbus**: This is a cloud of great vertical height. It is black and white globular mass gives it different shapes. It is frequently seen in tropical afternoons. It is also referred to as a **’’thunder cloud’’** and brings convectional rain accompanied by lightning and thunder. #### Measurement of cloud The amount of cloud in the atmosphere can be measured by **oktas**. In other words, the amount of cloud in the air is expressed in oktas or Eights of the sky covers. #### Conclusion All clouds contain water and dust particles, cloud size can also be influenced by many factors, some of which we do not understand, these include heat, seasons, mountain ranges, bodies of water, volcanic eruption and global warming. #### Reference The essential book of geography by O.A IWENA All images used are licensed under creative commons which are free for use #### Authors questions ###### I took this picture of cloud randomly on a morning and I will like you to tell me the type and prove your answer.. #### Don't forget to upvote, follow and re-post |

| body | ### CONTENTS · Inroduction · Principles · Working · Stabilization of electrodynamic tether · E.D.T Application · Advantage · Future scope #### Introduction Hi guys, I’m introducing to you electrodynamic https://goo.gl/images/Zib2Kutethers, like you know satellites have a made role to play in the present communication system. There are over eight thounsand satellite and other large objects in orbit around the earth and there are countless smaller pieces of debris generated by spacecraft explosion between satellite. An EDTs is basically made of aluminium alloy, when direct current is sent through it, it exerts force and the tether accelerates the spacecraft. By reversing the direction of current in it, the same tether can be used de-orbit old satellite. #### Principle The basic principle of an EDT is the LORENTZ FORCE . is a force that a magnetic field exerts on a current carrying wire in a direction https://goo.gl/images/GL2mPkperpendicular to both direction of current flow and magntic field. For a charged particle movingwith velocity V in a magnetic field B .The resultant is in the direction of the force F-Fleming’s lleft hand rule. #### Working An EDT can be used either to accelerate or brake an orbiting spacecraft .when direct current is passed throught the tether , it exerts a force against the magnetic field and the tether accelerate the spacecraft. The gravity gradient field wll tend to orient the tether in a vertical position . In an EDT drag system such as the Terminator Tether , the tether can be used to reduce the orbit of the spacecraft. The electrons are colleted at one endof the tether and expelled at the other end .This current interact with the earths magnetic field and cause a force which opposes the tether . This decrease the orbit of the tether. In an electrodynamic propulsion , the tether can be used to boost the orbit of the spacecraft. If a power is added to the tether system and current is driven in the opposite direction, then the the tether can push against the earths magnetic field to raise the spacecraft’s orbit. The Lorentz force acts on the electrons in tether, a hallow cathode causes the tube to heat and produce xenon gas, electrons interact with the heat gas to create a plasma, due to this effect electrons are discharged rapidly #### Tether Stabilization The second algorithm requires only periodic mesurements of the tether end mass called “End mass acceleration” feedback method, these enables EDTs to provide long term propellant less propullsion while maintainin g tether stability and efficiency. #### EDT applications . Propellant less propulsion for LEO spacecraft. . The Terminator Tether satellite de-orbit system. . Electrodynamic re-boost of international space station. . Power generation in low earth orbit . Space junk clean up. #### Advantages The major advantages of tethers compared to other propulsion system is it does not require any propellant and other adavantages include ; · It is reuseable. · Cost effective method of re- boosting spacecraft. · High efficiency and good adaptability to varying plasma conditions. . Reduces the de-orbit times. · Substantially reduces the weight of the spacecraft. · Boosting tethers of moderate length. #### Future scope **Satellite Tugboat:**Another idea is for thr ED tether to be attached to an unmanned space taugboat that would ferry satellites to higher orbits. **Exploring the outter planets:** The most exotic use of ED tether technology would be to propel and power spacecraft exploring the outter planets. #### Conclusion As electrodynamic tethers can provide long term propellant-less propulsion capability for orbital maneuvering and station keeping of small satellites in low earth orbit, these are preferablly compared with the existing rocket propulsion system, also EDTs may provide an economical means of electrical power in orbit. Hence Electro dynamic tethers play a key role for satellite communication system. |

| body | Hello nagwort! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you: 1. **Keep your passwords safe:** Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure. 2. **Get Steem rewards:** When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more. 3. **Upvote wisely:** When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power. 4. **Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power:** Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes. 5. **Have Fun and Enjoy!** _For a detailed writeup, check our post [Getting Started: 5 Essential Tips for New Users](https://steemit.com/@steemsociety/getting-started-5-essential-tips-for-new-users)._ Good luck on your Steem journey!
