body	<html> <div class="text-justify"> <p>Genetic testing service has caught its popularity train in recent years, major player like 23andMe is constantly grabbing the spotlight in the market of personalized medicine, a market which is worth more than 4 billion USD in 2017 and keep exponentially growing every year. Their services that are offered to us start from inheritance tracing up to diagnosing potential future disesess. All the information that we can get by sending our DNA through our saliva that’s going to be sent to the lab in a tube can be really interesting. But it also comes up with several problems.</p> <p><img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/23andMe_logo.svg/2000px-23andMe_logo.svg.png" width="100%"/></p> <p><h2><strong>The accuracy of DNA Testing</strong></h2></p> <p>Like a prediction from a crystal ball, genetic test results are sometimes wrong. Some tests that predict the likelihood a young pregnant woman will have a child with a genetic condition such as Down syndrome <a href="https://www.perinatalquality.org/vendors/nsgc/nipt/">may only be correct only 60 percent of the time</a>. That means these tests may not undergo any independent review to make sure they accurately pick up the disease or genetic conditions they claim to be seeking.  In the USA the FDA has been wrestling for years with whether and how to do more. During the Obama administration, the agency proposed a new set of draft limits on a whole class of tests, and then put them on hold immediately after Donald Trump’s election. This spring, the FDA gave 23andMe permission to market genetic screenings for susceptibility to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other conditions. It was the first time the agency blessed direct-to-consumer tests for genetic health risks. While the debate over genetic testing often follows a pattern familiar from countless other industries — business groups want less regulation, and consumer advocates favor more — it also raises more cosmic questions: Is a medical test just a piece of information? Or is it something more, if its result leads to dramatic or irreversible action such as chemotherapy or an abortion? And if a data point is factually suspect, or ripe for misinterpretation, when and how should it be offered to consumers. This field of study is still under heavy development. Personalized treatment of disease based of genome is still relatively expensive for most people, and still need many research before finally can be used for mass public. In doing so researcher need as much sample as possible to be able to do the research in developing this new emerging medical technology. </p> <p><h2><strong>Privacy concerns</strong></h2></p> <p>At-home genetic testing companies have varying privacy policies. Typically, these policies require consent by customers to share personally identifiable data, but often allow the sale or sharing of anonymized DNA information, which has been stripped of names or other identifying information, or aggregate DNA information, which includes statistics like the percent of an ethnic group tested that has a particular disease risk. Anonymized DNA is not necessarily so anonymous, given that genes are, in essence, the most identifying information of all. <a href="http://science.sciencemag.org/content/339/6117/321">A 2013 study published in the journal Science</a> used two public genealogy databases and found that researchers could correctly uncover people's surnames from their genetic data alone between 12 and 18 percent of the time. If the researchers knew the customer's surname as well as their year of birth and state of residency, they could comb the databases and narrow down the possible number of genetic profiles that might be theirs to as few as a dozen. Revealing one target's identity in these genealogical databases also pinpointed their genetic relatives, another problem with genetic data: Your gene sequences are not yours alone. Exposure of one person's genetic information could potentially expose information about shared familial risks.</p> <p><a href="https://www.livescience.com/52447-teens-want-to-know-gene-testing.html">Genetic testing</a> companies have relatively very small databases of ethnic groups who are present in small numbers in the United States. The accuracy of the tests for these groups, which include Korean-Americans, Vietnamese-Americans and Filipino-Americans, among others, may be skewed. Meanwhile, if one group is tested in detail, it may make it look like their risk for a particular disease is high, simply because the data exists for that ethnicity and not for others. This is the case for <a href="https://www.livescience.com/47755-european-jews-are-30th-cousins.html">Ashkenazi Jewish</a> women, who have been shown to be at the greatest risk for two types of <a href="https://www.livescience.com/50404-brca-mutations-cancer-risk.html">breast cancer genes known as BRCA 1 and BRCA 2</a>. But that's partly because Ashkenazi DNA has been investigated in detail, thanks to their unique ancestry. It's possible other ethnic groups have a higher risk and simply haven't been tested in detail. In that sense, aggregate data collected by companies like 23andMe has the potential to mislead and even create a sort of "genetic stereotype,".</p> <p>With that said, it’s always wise to read the TOS of the company that provides you with the service regarding of privacy concern with genetic testing. 23andMe uses term databanking to describe their right to store your saliva sample or the DNA extracted from it up to 10 years for reserach porpouse. It’s clearly written in their TOS, but as we all know, majority of people never read them.</p> <p>That 2 major problems with genetic-testing service can sparks several issues along the development of genetic-based technology, so is there any possible solution in dealing with them?       "body": "<html>\n<div class=\"text-justify\">\n<p>Genetic testing service has caught its popularity train in recent years, major player like 23andMe is constantly grabbing the spotlight in the market of personalized medicine, a market which is worth more than 4 billion USD in 2017 and keep exponentially growing every year. Their services that are offered to us start from inheritance tracing up to diagnosing potential future disesess. All the information that we can get by sending our DNA through our saliva that’s going to be sent to the lab in a tube can be really interesting. But it also comes up with several problems.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/23andMe_logo.svg/2000px-23andMe_logo.svg.png\" width=\"100%\"/></p>\n<p><h2><strong>The accuracy of DNA Testing</strong></h2></p>\n<p>Like a prediction from a crystal ball, genetic test results are sometimes wrong. Some tests that predict the likelihood a young pregnant woman will have a child with a genetic condition such as Down syndrome <a href=\"https://www.perinatalquality.org/vendors/nsgc/nipt/\">may only be correct only 60 percent of the time</a>. That means these tests may not undergo any independent review to make sure they accurately pick up the disease or genetic conditions they claim to be seeking. &nbsp;In the USA the FDA has been wrestling for years with whether and how to do more. During the Obama administration, the agency proposed a new set of draft limits on a whole class of tests, and then put them on hold immediately after Donald Trump’s election. This spring, the FDA gave 23andMe permission to market genetic screenings for susceptibility to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other conditions. It was the first time the agency blessed direct-to-consumer tests for genetic health risks. While the debate over genetic testing often follows a pattern familiar from countless other industries — business groups want less regulation, and consumer advocates favor more — it also raises more cosmic questions: Is a medical test just a piece of information? Or is it something more, if its result leads to dramatic or irreversible action such as chemotherapy or an abortion? And if a data point is factually suspect, or ripe for misinterpretation, when and how should it be offered to consumers. This field of study is still under heavy development. Personalized treatment of disease based of genome is still relatively expensive for most people, and still need many research before finally can be used for mass public. In doing so researcher need as much sample as possible to be able to do the research in developing this new emerging medical technology.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><h2><strong>Privacy concerns</strong></h2></p>\n<p>At-home genetic testing companies have varying privacy policies. Typically, these policies require consent by customers to share personally identifiable data, but often allow the sale or sharing of anonymized DNA information, which has been stripped of names or other identifying information, or aggregate DNA information, which includes statistics like the percent of an ethnic group tested that has a particular disease risk. Anonymized DNA is not necessarily so anonymous, given that genes are, in essence, the most identifying information of all. <a href=\"http://science.sciencemag.org/content/339/6117/321\">A 2013 study published in the journal Science</a> used two public genealogy databases and found that researchers could correctly uncover people's surnames from their genetic data alone between 12 and 18 percent of the time. If the researchers knew the customer's surname as well as their year of birth and state of residency, they could comb the databases and narrow down the possible number of genetic profiles that might be theirs to as few as a dozen. Revealing one target's identity in these genealogical databases also pinpointed their genetic relatives, another problem with genetic data: Your gene sequences are not yours alone. Exposure of one person's genetic information could potentially expose information about shared familial risks.</p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https://www.livescience.com/52447-teens-want-to-know-gene-testing.html\">Genetic testing</a> companies have relatively very small databases of ethnic groups who are present in small numbers in the United States. The accuracy of the tests for these groups, which include Korean-Americans, Vietnamese-Americans and Filipino-Americans, among others, may be skewed. Meanwhile, if one group is tested in detail, it may make it look like their risk for a particular disease is high, simply because the data exists for that ethnicity and not for others. This is the case for <a href=\"https://www.livescience.com/47755-european-jews-are-30th-cousins.html\">Ashkenazi Jewish</a> women, who have been shown to be at the greatest risk for two types of <a href=\"https://www.livescience.com/50404-brca-mutations-cancer-risk.html\">breast cancer genes known as BRCA 1 and BRCA 2</a>. But that's partly because Ashkenazi DNA has been investigated in detail, thanks to their unique ancestry. It's possible other ethnic groups have a higher risk and simply haven't been tested in detail. In that sense, aggregate data collected by companies like 23andMe has the potential to mislead and even create a sort of \"genetic stereotype,\".</p>\n\n<p>With that said, it’s always wise to read the TOS of the company that provides you with the service regarding of privacy concern with genetic testing. 23andMe uses term databanking to describe their right to store your saliva sample or the DNA extracted from it up to 10 years for reserach porpouse. It’s clearly written in their TOS, but as we all know, majority of people never read them.</p>\n<p>That 2 major problems with genetic-testing service can sparks several issues along the development of genetic-based technology, so is there any possible solution in dealing with them? Therefore the early era of cryptocurrency begin.</p> <p>Today there’re countless ways to implement Blockchain. After the release and major trend of Ethereum Smart Contract, it became the first layer of abstraction for implementing Blockchain — it is treated as a framework to implement the technology by creating a decentralized application (DApps). </p><p> Many start-up companies have tried to leverage the vast advantages of using the technology of distributed ledger. Many of them have tried to implement it in various use cases, from payments to legal documents, from escrow to voting systems but majority of them was just shameful scam scheme and the rest of them failed to fulfill their plan or usually known as the Roadmap and <a href="https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2017/11/09/deloitte-blockchain-26000-projects/">drowned by their own promises.</a> </p> <center><p><img src="https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/640/14l1-wd1RziFRzTj7jxlUcQ.png" width="100%"/></p></center> <p>In response to recent bearish trend of Cryptocurrency market that’s been happening since early 2018 there are many skeptics started objecting about the true use cases of cryptocurrency and even the Blockchain technology itself, they proclaimed their doubts whether Blockchain implementation is really useful at all. Therefore the early era of cryptocurrency begin.</p>\n<p>Today there’re countless ways to implement Blockchain. After the release and major trend of Ethereum Smart Contract, it became the first layer of abstraction for implementing Blockchain — it is treated as a framework to implement the technology by creating a decentralized application (DApps).\n</p><p>\nMany start-up companies have tried to leverage the vast advantages of using the technology of distributed ledger. Many of them have tried to implement it in various use cases, from payments to legal documents, from escrow to voting systems but majority of them was just shameful scam scheme and the rest of them failed to fulfill their plan or usually known as the Roadmap and <a href=\"https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2017/11/09/deloitte-blockchain-26000-projects/\">drowned by their own promises.</a>\n</p>\n<center><p><img src=\"https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/640/1*4l1-wd1RziFRzTj7jxlUcQ.png\" width=\"100%\"/></p></center>\n<p>In response to recent bearish trend of Cryptocurrency market that’s been happening since early 2018 there are many skeptics started objecting about the true use cases of cryptocurrency and even the Blockchain technology itself, they proclaimed their doubts whether Blockchain implementation is really useful at all. Has the future that we imagined in the past become a reality? Some sci-fi films from decades ago almost precisely predicted a future that included technologies like video call, digital images and even breakthrough drones technology. The future we envisioned decades ago has become a reality. It also begs the question, in which ways will the future that we dream of today become a reality in the decades to come?</p> <h2>Technology for Necessity</h2> <p>We as human as a nature will always continue working to advance the technologies that will make the world a simpler, and much more convenient place to live. Many believe that in the IoT era, all things will get "smarter" and all things will be interconnected and automated, with a focus on making things more helpful for human beings. It's been analyzed four keywords that sum up our approach to IoT era: <strong>human-centric, openness, connectivity and security.</strong></p> <p>A human-centric IoT means automated cash registers at supermarkets suppose to increase efficiency and cut down on customers’ wait times. It means families in which both parents work enjoying more free time together while a robot vacuum does the cleaning housework. These are technologies that are based on necessity. IoT is something that can enrich our lives.</p> <p>Another great example of the implementation of IoT in real life can be seen in one of project of decentralized smart energy management platform. They leverage the power of IoT to help human save more energy through smart management of electricity usage with the help of IoT technology. This is one of the effort in building smart home infrastructure to solve human one of the most crucial human problem. The market forecasts the number of connected things will reach several billions by 2020. What will connectivity in the IoT era look like?</p> <p>When various objects in the home become connected, the number of connected devices will grow faster than we can imagine. This will also result in a change in network traffic patterns. While smartphone traffic use is governed by the number of users, which is manageable, IoT traffic is the result of various devices sending and receiving back and forth. There is no limit to how much traffic could grow. I expect that in the IoT era, all things will be connected at all times, whether fixed or mobile through seamless connection via Wi-fi, NFC and ZigBee indoors and cellular networks outdoors. In the IoT era mobile network itself and mobile service providers will play an even more crucial role.</p> <h2>The New Possibility and The Next Big Thing</h2> <p>With consideration for the safety of citizens and common good, there are dozens of IoT services that can be provided publicly by the government. Examples include a service that provides open-air pollution levels by measuring the amount of micro dust in the air in each community. There is also a service that helps users stay safe while hiking, by analyzing the history of wildfires and the current dryness of the air to predict the likelihood of another wildfire.</p> <p>Another concept is the Smart Building, which will make offices go completely wireless by applying advanced cellular technologies such as 5G/LTE-U in the building. Smart Buildings will see all devices connected to one another for increased efficiency and convenience.</p> <p>In 2020, the Olympics will be held in Tokyo. I think that the Olympics will mark a significant milestone where IoT services that we can only imagine today will be realized. Just as we’ve seen in sci-fi movies of decades ago, many of the things we could only imagine back then are now part of the present. We are, in a sense, living in the future we envisioned in the past. What we imagine today in 2015 will become a reality someday as well.</p> <p>The Next Big Thing, the IoT era, is well on its way. It will create new possibilities and values for us all. It is up to us to unlock them. Some sci-fi films from decades ago almost precisely predicted a future that included technologies like video call, digital images and even breakthrough drones technology. The future we envisioned decades ago has become a reality. It also begs the question, in which ways will the future that we dream of today become a reality in the decades to come?</p>\n<h2>Technology for Necessity</h2>\n<p>We as human as a nature will always continue working to advance the technologies that will make the world a simpler, and much more convenient place to live. Many believe that in the IoT era, all things will get \"smarter\" and all things will be interconnected and automated, with a focus on making things more helpful for human beings. It's been analyzed four keywords that sum up our approach to IoT era: <strong>human-centric, openness, connectivity and security.</strong></p>\n<p>A human-centric IoT means automated cash registers at supermarkets suppose to increase efficiency and cut down on customers’ wait times. It means families in which both parents work enjoying more free time together while a robot vacuum does the cleaning housework. These are technologies that are based on necessity. IoT is something that can enrich our lives.</p>\n<p>Another great example of the implementation of IoT in real life can be seen in one of project of decentralized smart energy management platform. They leverage the power of IoT to help human save more energy through smart management of electricity usage with the help of IoT technology. This is one of the effort in building smart home infrastructure to solve human one of the most crucial human problem. While smartphone traffic use is governed by the number of users, which is manageable, IoT traffic is the result of various devices sending and receiving back and forth. There is no limit to how much traffic could grow. In the IoT era mobile network itself and mobile service providers will play an even more crucial role.</p>\n<h2>The New Possibility and The Next Big Thing</h2>\n<p>With consideration for the safety of citizens and common good, there are dozens of IoT services that can be provided publicly by the government. Examples include a service that provides open-air pollution levels by measuring the amount of micro dust in the air in each community. There is also a service that helps users stay safe while hiking, by analyzing the history of wildfires and the current dryness of the air to predict the likelihood of another wildfire.</p>\n<p>Another concept is the Smart Building, which will make offices go completely wireless by applying advanced cellular technologies such as 5G/LTE-U in the building. Smart Buildings will see all devices connected to one another for increased efficiency and convenience.</p>\n<p>In 2020, the Olympics will be held in Tokyo. I think that the Olympics will mark a significant milestone where IoT services that we can only imagine today will be realized. Just as we’ve seen in sci-fi movies of decades ago, many of the things we could only imagine back then are now part of the present. We are, in a sense, living in the future we envisioned in the past. What we imagine today in 2015 will become a reality someday as well.</p>\n<p>The Next Big Thing, the IoT era, is well on its way. It will create new possibilities and values for us all. But this changed rapidly in the years that followed. First came the smartphones which changed the way that people consumed online services and even interacted with the world.</p> </div> <p><img src="https://www.ifsecglobal.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/IoT-2.png" width="100%"/></p> <div class="text-justify"> <p>Other computing devices followed; mainly consumer electronics but also more and more industrial devices.
