To solve problems raised by the development and implementation of this technology we need to create 2 new basic infrastructures and gradually update the old system.

Genome Database Platform That Cares about Privacy

Simply, in solving the scarcity problem of genome data needed for research and development of the genome-based technology there’s a need of a genome database platform which simply stores a lot of genome data of users that agree their data is being used, which can be accessed easily by anyone, but without incercinating the privacy of their users. This can create a direct-to-consumer genomics business more open, fair, and beneficial for both sides, the genome owner and the researcher or other general user (ex. Medical company, etc)

Shivom is one of the first company trying to solve this problems. Project Shivom is powering the next era of genomics through the blockchain technology - protecting identity, personalizing healthcare and transforming lives. A precision medicine ecosystem will offer an open web-marketplace for other providers to add not only genomics information, but also analytics, and associated apps and services to drive personalized medicine.

Shivom, the blockchain-powered global 'Unique ID' genomic database platform, has announced a major partnership with leading molecular diagnostics company Genetic Technologies. Advancing what is, potentially, a life-saving application of the blockchain, this partnership is born with attempt to accelerate the cancer prediction rate for millions worldwide.

Shivom would be operating in a vital industry. We live in an era where genomic medicine has the potential to increase the understanding of, and provide treatment for as many as 7000 rare diseases, as well as address major global killers such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. The project will use blockchain technology to change the way modern medicine works. The blockchain implementation would allow Shivom to address important issues relating to consent, data ownership, data integrity and authentication. The ability to use smart contract technology would be an additional benefit as it can allow for management of complex data rights as well as fine grained access. The process of sequencing is painless for donors as all that is required is a saliva sample. In return donors would benefit from getting information about their health and ancestry, and can decide if they want to donate their genome for free or profit.

Shivom is currently holding an ICO to accelerate their core company development. body

Genetic testing service has caught its popularity train in recent years, major player like 23andMe is constantly grabbing the spotlight in the market of personalized medicine, a market which is worth more than 4 billion USD in 2017 and keep exponentially growing every year. Their services that are offered to us start from inheritance tracing up to diagnosing potential future disesess. All the information that we can get by sending our DNA through our saliva that’s going to be sent to the lab in a tube can be really interesting. But it also comes up with several problems.

The accuracy of DNA Testing

Like a prediction from a crystal ball, genetic test results are sometimes wrong. Some tests that predict the likelihood a young pregnant woman will have a child with a genetic condition such as Down syndrome may only be correct only 60 percent of the time. That means these tests may not undergo any independent review to make sure they accurately pick up the disease or genetic conditions they claim to be seeking. In the USA the FDA has been wrestling for years with whether and how to do more. During the Obama administration, the agency proposed a new set of draft limits on a whole class of tests, and then put them on hold immediately after Donald Trump’s election. This spring, the FDA gave 23andMe permission to market genetic screenings for susceptibility to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other conditions. It was the first time the agency blessed direct-to-consumer tests for genetic health risks. While the debate over genetic testing often follows a pattern familiar from countless other industries — business groups want less regulation, and consumer advocates favor more — it also raises more cosmic questions: Is a medical test just a piece of information? Or is it something more, if its result leads to dramatic or irreversible action such as chemotherapy or an abortion? And if a data point is factually suspect, or ripe for misinterpretation, when and how should it be offered to consumers. This field of study is still under heavy development. Personalized treatment of disease based of genome is still relatively expensive for most people, and still need many research before finally can be used for mass public. In doing so researcher need as much sample as possible to be able to do the research in developing this new emerging medical technology.

Privacy concerns

At-home genetic testing companies have varying privacy policies. Typically, these policies require consent by customers to share personally identifiable data, but often allow the sale or sharing of anonymized DNA information, which has been stripped of names or other identifying information, or aggregate DNA information, which includes statistics like the percent of an ethnic group tested that has a particular disease risk. Anonymized DNA is not necessarily so anonymous, given that genes are, in essence, the most identifying information of all. A 2013 study published in the journal Science used two public genealogy databases and found that researchers could correctly uncover people's surnames from their genetic data alone between 12 and 18 percent of the time. If the researchers knew the customer's surname as well as their year of birth and state of residency, they could comb the databases and narrow down the possible number of genetic profiles that might be theirs to as few as a dozen. The accuracy of the tests for these groups, which include Korean-Americans, Vietnamese-Americans and Filipino-Americans, among others, may be skewed. Meanwhile, if one group is tested in detail, it may make it look like their risk for a particular disease is high, simply because the data exists for that ethnicity and not for others. But that's partly because Ashkenazi DNA has been investigated in detail, thanks to their unique ancestry. It’s clearly written in their TOS, but as we all know, majority of people never read them.

That 2 major problems with genetic-testing service can sparks several issues along the development of genetic-based technology, so is there any possible solution in dealing with them? body

We as a human being surely have taken a long journey to be able to live in this current state of advance society as we know of today. Our ancestors who were literally living under a rock would never expect that we someday would successfully be able to form a functional, advance, and occasionally broken society that’s majorly driven by the usage of electricity—But for sure, we know we all starts from someplace, from someone, when we were born we inherit some part of our ancestors, we keep all the features that help us survive, and discard anything that doesn’t. After we found out that the DNA that we inherit, which contains the fundamental code of our biological body can help us to determine the best course of treatment in dealing with diseases. Thus, a new market of tailored medicine was born.

Growing Demand for Personalized Medicine

Personalized medicine, where tailored therapy is made available to patients with an understanding of the molecular basis of diseases, has become popular over the recent years. Genetic testing and genome sequencing are two of the most important tools that are used to understand the molecular basis of a disease. European countries are screened for several genetic diseases, as an early detection of these diseases can prevent the onset of symptoms, or minimize the severity of the disease. Genetic testing for cancer diagnosis can indicate the predisposition of the disease in the gene, before its actual manifestation. This type of diagnostic technique enables a person to take precautionary steps, and avoid possible risks in the future.

North America Market Domination

The genetic testing market is segmented by treatment type, diseases, technology, and geography. By geography, the market has been segmented into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and South America. Owing to the presence of well-established healthcare facilities and new discoveries in the field of genetic markers, North America dominates the genetic testing market. The Asia-Pacific market is expected to register the highest CAGR, as government and private firms are making significant investments in the healthcare industry.
\n

\n

Growing Demand for Personalized Medicine

\n
\n

North America Market Domination

\n
The genetic testing market is segmented by treatment type, diseases, technology, and geography. By geography, the market has been segmented into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and South America. Owing to the presence of well-established healthcare facilities and new discoveries in the field of genetic markers, North America dominates the genetic testing market. The Asia-Pacific market is expected to register the highest CAGR, as government and private firms are making significant investments in the healthcare industry. Over the last couple of years, to invest in the Japanese market, several mergers, acquisitions, and collaborations between companies have taken place.
\n
The global genetic testing market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 11.76% to grow from US$4.620 billion in 2017 to US$5.783 billion in 2022. body

This is my third blog post from the series of tech blog that I've been posting for several days. Alas this is probably won't be my last piece in discussing about IoT technology. It's been fun, to be able to brainstorm many ideas that came out of my head about IoT and automatization. Today, after conducting several "research", reading ton of article, and compiling a lot of information, I came up with this list about my predictions for the future of Internet of Thing technology.
1. We'll become much more inseparable with Artificial Intelligence

With the raising popularity of smart home hubs, thermostats, automated lighting systems and even "smart" coffee makers, all "things" will collect data on your habits and patterns of usage.

Voice-controlled devices actually record what you say to them and then store those recordings in the cloud. All of this data is collected to help facilitate the implementation and improvement of machine learning. If you don't know what machine learning is, to put is as simple as possible machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence algorithm that actually helps computers “learn” without having to be programmed by someone. These computers are programmed in a way that focuses on data that they receive. This new data can then help the machine “learn” what your preferences are and adjust itself accordingly.

More and more data that it collects, it becomes much more "smarter" and reliable to help you in a day to day problems. Such as managing complicated tasks, driving for you, or probably as simple as reminding you something.

2. More than 20 billion of devices will be exposed with the Internet

Over 5 billion connected devices were in use worldwide in 2017. But, according to Gartner, Inc, Internet of Things (IoT) devices look like they’re here to stay and become increasing in popularity. In 2015, there were approximately 4.9 million things connected to the internet. That number went from millions to billions in one year. This rate of growth will increasing exponentially.

3. IoT will spark a revolution especially business revolution

Businesses which connected to the Internet saw the real value when they re-designed their businesses models and processes for a connected world, and found new online products and services to offer. Some companies immediately embraced the Dot-Com world, many had false starts and many others took a long time to jump on, or the revolution passed them by completely. The same will be true of IoT. Businesses need to develop strategies and plans for how they can leverage IoT to transform all aspects of their businesses and capture the real value of this revolutionary technology.

4. City will become "smarter" then ever before

With more than one-half of the world’s population living cities innovative new IoT solutions, such as smart parking, connected waste, and traffic management, hold great promise for combatting the major challenges of rapid urbanization. We are unlikely to see many Jetson-like smart cities of the future appearing overnight. However, like in the past with the adoption of revolutionary technologies such as sewers, electricity, traffic lights, and the Internet, mayors will slowly implement IoT solutions to save money, shape the future and make their cities better places to live.

Because consumers won’t be the only ones using IoT devices. Cities and companies, always trying to become more efficient and save both time and money, will also start adopting “smart” technologies. Meaning that cities will be able to automate, remotely manage, and collect data through visitor kiosks, video camera surveillance systems, bike rental stations, and even taxis.

All the development of technology listed above is slowly emerging today. Internet of Things is becoming more popular than ever before, everything around us becoming "smarter" from day to day. Real example of that are Tesla that has been working tirelessly to popularize the smart electric car technology or probably Robotina, a company that's aiming on creating your electric grid system "smarter" to help you manage your energy cost. This kind of company that's aiming for the further advancement of human civilization will become bigger and bigger in the future and traditional company that's resisting with the growth of technology will be in vain.

Anyway if you want to learn more about Robotina project, consider visiting their website or watch this video!

Special Thanks to Robotinafor making this article possible! Has the future that we imagined in the past become a reality? Some sci-fi films from decades ago almost precisely predicted a future that included technologies like video call, digital images and even breakthrough drones technology. The future we envisioned decades ago has become a reality. It also begs the question, in which ways will the future that we dream of today become a reality in the decades to come?

Technology for Necessity

We as human as a nature will always continue working to advance the technologies that will make the world a simpler, and much more convenient place to live. Many believe that in the IoT era, all things will get "smarter" and all things will be interconnected and automated, with a focus on making things more helpful for human beings. It's been analyzed four keywords that sum up our approach to IoT era: human-centric, openness, connectivity and security.

A human-centric IoT means automated cash registers at supermarkets suppose to increase efficiency and cut down on customers’ wait times. This will also result in a change in network traffic patterns. While smartphone traffic use is governed by the number of users, which is manageable, IoT traffic is the result of various devices sending and receiving back and forth. There is no limit to how much traffic could grow. It will also be difficult for us to predict patterns in IoT data, because we expect that natural disasters such as wildfires will cause spikes in IoT data, unlike smartphone traffic, which is predictable by the time and location.

The IoT era will also cause drastic changes in cellular technology. What we imagine today in 2015 will become a reality someday as well.

The Next Big Thing, the IoT era, is well on its way. It will create new possibilities and values for us all. Our society is in the phase of digital transformation, a process, which is changing it as deeply and widely as never before. Every device is becoming more and more interconnected. Start from small embedded devices to our day-to-day smartphone, or even their car for some people.

The Rise of IoT

Ten years ago the principal devices accessing the Internet were PCs and laptops – it was a simpler world to understand and describe. But this changed rapidly in the years that followed. First came the smartphones which changed the way that people consumed online services and even interacted with the world.

Other computing devices followed; mainly consumer electronics but also more and more industrial devices. Still, at this point (around 2010, maybe even until 2012) the amount of devices more or less scaled linearly with the number of users and growth was mainly by establishing new geographical markets and increasing uptake. It was easy to tell what was connected to the internet and what was not.

In 2012, or around that year, something dramatic happened. Connections to the internet started picking up beyond the linear scale with people – connections became decoupled and machines and things started to take over. The most quoted number is that 50 billion devices will be connected by 2020. So assuming a conservative 10 billion connected devices today this works out to be a connection speed of 250 devices per second until the goals will be reached.

Some Actual Implementation of IoT(so far...)

Autonomous vehicles exist because of IoT

Today you can now buy a car that drives itself to and from work, suggests shortcuts, notifies you of weather changes, possible malfunctions and even detects the type of music you’d like to hear during your drive. These cars are few and far in between, costing upwards of $1 billion, but they are real and powered by IoT which connects them to their central station via the internet and cloud.

Medical monitoring

The IoT technology is looking to make a huge impact on medical care and healthcare as a whole. The magnitude of involving these devices in hospitals and house care all over the world will allow for much more straightforward patient care than before.

Medical workers will be able to monitor patients without visiting them in person, lowering the overall costs of health treatment and making sure that the risks of error are minimal. The question of implementing IoT fully into medical care is a matter of programming – can these devices store as much information and deduction as a medical worker would?

This poses an interesting question because it’s predicted that these devices will automatically administer medicine and make the patient’s experience as comfortable as possible without asking the doctor about every decision. While there is drug management and human care concern when it comes to IoT in medicine, there is no denying that the technology is shaping up to make a huge change in the way we perceive medical care.

Consumption analytics & distribution

Having an AI or an IoT device monitor all of your shipping, delivery and distribution sounds like a dream, but in reality, it’s closer than ever before. Large international companies have started implementing IoT devices into their distribution and consumption analytics as a means to lower costs and raise overall company efficiency. The results might be less than favorable to peoplewho don’t do their jobs right because these devices don’t compromise and “like” someone, instead opting for objective and empirical assessments.

These same devices are posed to control distribution networks and shipping deliveries all over the world in light of making sure that every delivery arrives on time and intact. This poses a concern when it comes to employing workers and distributors but it should be noted that while an IoT device may order a shipment of materials, workers are still the ones who will deliver it.

Implementating IoT to Solve Energy Consumption Problem

So far we've talked a lot of fun stuff about IoT. Here's the real deal, it can do much more. With the rise of IoT, the implementation of it on energy chain and electrical grids are not an exemption, even more - they are the driving force of world-scale changes.

Dramatic changes in our energy “picture” happened over previous years and will strongly continuein the next decade. Introduction of renewable energy resources, like usage of solar, wind and othergreen technologies and the reduction of traditional “dirty” sources like coal or nuclear, contributesto higher and less predictable fluctuations in overall energy production.

Utility companies and grid operators, which must keep the grid stable by matching the consumption and generation at anytime, encounter technical and financial challenges to execute this essential task. The coming ofmass introduction of electrical vehicles, which need fast recharging, will further destabilize thegrid and increase the cost to meet this growing demand.

To solve this problem we need some optimization in our current grid system, we're wasting to much stuff. In doing this let's involve IoT.

Recently i stumbled upon a company with their project to apply a smart connection between our day-to-day smartphone with our grid. They're currently developing a platform to help user like us control energy consumption, in doing so they're combining the massive advantages of IoT and Blockchain Technology. The company is Robotina

Robotina Platform will optimize the functioning of the entire electricity grid, reduce electric energy consumption and lower the electricity costs.

Here's their implementation of the both technology to save energy and money for the user of their platform.

Step 1

User will receive the Energy Management System (EMS) hardware device. It’s asmart Internet of Things (IoT) device that senses the energy consumption andbehavior of user electrical appliances. After the installation, it immediately startssending data to and receiving data from their online platform.

Step 2
Internet of Things (IoT) scans across theentire energy network from producer > distributor > consumer – to optimizethe network and brings you savings from an optimal ‘energy value chain’.

Using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) the Robotina Platform operates your electricdevices so that it switches them on when the price of electricity is lowest andturns them off when electricity is more expensive or when the need for the electricity in the network is higher.

Step 3

Robotina Smart Grid platform collects anonymous energy data 24/7. TheArtificial Intelligence (AI) on the platform collects and processes the data sent byEMS device to identify the historical data patterns such as when and how manytimes the boiler, air conditioner, heat pump, etc. is switched on. AI uses weatherforecasts and energy price data to optimize your expenses.

Additional savings based on collaboration. The Community benefits from alltransactions on the Robotina Platform. The majority of the earnings generated bygroup buying, power trade (which stabilizes the grid), aggregated data sales andcrowd financing will be allocated to pool awarding most active community members. If you're interested about the technical details of their platform or the development of Robotina platform, consider giving them a visit on their website, they're currently holding an ICO for the full-development of their platform.

Conclusion

Implementing IoT devices will allow people to become free of their full-time constraints and grasp a better understanding of how the world works. It’s true that some professions and job placements might see a downfall in light of technological advancement but such is the case in every age of technical evolution. Whether you like the idea of the Internet of Things or not, chances are that it’s here to stay and we can only adapt and make the most of this new, exciting and unexplored opportunity.

Special Thanks to Robotinafor making this article possible! The magnitude of involving these devices in hospitals and house care all over the world will allow for much more straightforward patient care than before.
\n
Medical workers will be able to monitor patients without visiting them in person, lowering the overall costs of health treatment and making sure that the risks of error are minimal. The question of implementing IoT fully into medical care is a matter\n of programming – can these devices store as much information and deduction as a medical worker would?
\n
This poses an interesting question because it’s predicted that these devices will automatically administer medicine and make the patient’s experience as comfortable as possible without asking the doctor about every decision. While there is drug management\n and human care concern when it comes to IoT in medicine, there is no denying that the technology is shaping up to make a huge change in the way we perceive medical care.
\n
\n
\n
Consumption analytics & distribution
\n
Having an AI or an IoT device monitor all of your shipping, delivery and distribution sounds like a dream, but in reality, it’s closer than ever before. Large international companies have started implementing IoT devices into their distribution and consumption\n analytics as a means to lower costs and raise overall company efficiency. The results might be less than favorable to peoplewho don’t do their jobs right because these devices don’t compromise and “like” someone, instead opting for objective and empirical\n assessments.
\n
These same devices are posed to control distribution networks and shipping deliveries all over the world in light of making sure that every delivery arrives on time and intact. This poses a concern when it comes to employing workers and distributors but\n it should be noted that while an IoT device may order a shipment of materials, workers are still the ones who will deliver it.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Implementating IoT to Solve Energy Consumption Problem

\n\n
\n
So far we've talked a lot of fun stuff about IoT. Here's the real deal, it can do much more. With the rise of IoT, the implementation of it on energy chain and electrical grids are not an exemption, even more - they are the driving force of\n world-scale changes.
\n
\n
Dramatic changes in our energy “picture” happened over previous years and will strongly continuein the next decade. Introduction of renewable energy resources, like usage of solar, wind and othergreen technologies and the reduction of traditional “dirty” sources like coal or nuclear, contributesto higher and less predictable fluctuations in overall energy production.
\n
Utility companies and grid operators, which must keep the grid stable by matching the consumption and generation at anytime, encounter technical and financial challenges to execute this essential task. The coming ofmass introduction of electrical vehicles, which need fast recharging, will further destabilize thegrid and increase the cost to meet this growing demand.
\n
\n\n
To solve this problem we need some optimization in our current grid system, we're wasting to much stuff. In doing this let's involve IoT.
\n \n
Recently i stumbled upon a company with their project to apply a smart connection between our day-to-day smartphone with our grid. They're currently developing a platform to help user like us control energy consumption, in doing so they're combining\n the massive advantages of IoT and Blockchain Technology. The company is Robotina
\n \n
\n
Robotina Platform will optimize the functioning of the entire electricity grid, reduce electric energy consumption and lower the electricity costs.
\n
\n
Here's their implementation of the both technology to save energy and money for the user of their platform.
\n
\n
\n
Step 1
\n
User will receive the Energy Management System (EMS) hardware device. It’s asmart Internet of Things (IoT) device that senses the energy consumption andbehavior of user electrical appliances. After the installation, it immediately startssending\n data to and receiving data from their online platform.
\n
\n
\n
Step 2
Internet of Things (IoT) scans across theentire energy network from producer > distributor > consumer – to optimizethe network and brings you savings from an optimal ‘energy value chain’.
\n
Using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) the Robotina Platform operates your electricdevices so that it switches them on when the price of electricity is lowest andturns them off when electricity is more expensive or when the need\n for the electricity in the network is higher.
\n
\n
\n
Step 3
\n
Robotina Smart Grid platform collects anonymous energy data 24/7. TheArtificial Intelligence (AI) on the platform collects and processes the data sent byEMS device to identify the historical data patterns such as when and how manytimes\n the boiler, air conditioner, heat pump, etc. is switched on. AI uses weatherforecasts and energy price data to optimize your expenses.
\n
Additional savings based on collaboration. The Community benefits from alltransactions on the Robotina Platform. The majority of the earnings generated bygroup buying, power trade (which stabilizes the grid), aggregated data sales andcrowd\n financing will be allocated to pool awarding most active community members. If you're interested about the technical details of their platform or the development of Robotina platform, consider giving them a visit on their website,\n they're currently holding an ICO for the full-development of their platform.
\n
\n
                \n

Conclusion

\n
Implementing IoT devices will allow people to become free of their full-time constraints and grasp a better understanding of how the world works. It’s true that some professions and job placements might see a downfall in light of technological advancement\n but such is the case in every age of technical evolution. Whether you like the idea of the Internet of Things or not, chances are that it’s here to stay and we can only adapt and make the most of this new, exciting and unexplored opportunity.
\n
\n
Special Thanks to Robotinafor making this article possible!
