      "body": "I’m sure that most of you have ‘experienced’ the wonder of a pot-hole in the road. It’s usually something that is unexpected, jarring, and generally unpleasant. The pot-hole isn’t fussy about its location, it will take up residence almost anywhere. It’s most common on busy roads, but can also be found in obscure locations at the edge of a road or walkway. There are some roads in London where the epidemic is so bad, that the buses have stopped using that route, forcing people to walk to the next nearest bus stop. Yep, we just don’t like them.\n\nThere is however, something curious about them; they are so common that people are kind of getting used to them. We almost expect them to be there.\n\nSomething unusual started to happen in a large European city. Flowers started to appear in some of those all too familiar pot-holes. Now we are not talking about those wistful wild flowers, no this was something different. They looked, as unlikely as it sounded, they looked like miniature gardens. The soil looked fresh and dark, the flowers were fresh and planted. Some even appeared to have been carefully planned. What was going on?\n\nThe location of them was also unusual, sure some were on walkways or up against walls, but others were in the middle of the road, or on junctions. Imagine driving along and seeing a flowerbed in the middle of the road.\n\nThe origin of these pot-hole plantings was eventually discovered; someone had actually made it his mission to brighten things up. He wanted to add some temporary colour to the day. In some instances it was very temporary, as he admitted that those on busy roads often wouldn’t survive a single day.\n\nHow did his random act of colour go down with onlookers? Some thought it was great, others thought it was stupid. Some liked the colours, while others thought they were a dangerous distraction.\n\nMeanwhile, at a secret location in Scotland,  a group of forestry workers were preparing for a special event. It was something so special that the exact location was only known by a select few. A dedicated area of land had been specially and lovingly prepared. It was protected by a fence to keep out those who would want to destroy it. It was the start of a plan that would take hundreds of years to come to fruition.\n\nThe plan was to start with a sapling. It was the sapling of a giant Redwood tree. The audacious plan was to introduce the Redwood back into Scotland. It had taken years of planning, and would take decades of careful protection, love and care.\n\nThe sapling didn’t look like much. To the uninformed, it looked bland and uninteresting. To those dedicated folk who prepared the ground, it was amazing. You see, they were not just looking at the sapling, they were seeing the amazing Redwood tree that would grow from it. The strong richly coloured powerhouse of a tree that would stand there. The fact that they would probably be long dead before that time, did not in any way dampen their zeal to protect this precious sapling.\n\nCompared to the colourful pot-holes this sapling looked rubbish.\n\nIndeed, from the perspective of the plants themselves, the pot-hole flowers could bask in the sunshine and attention, whilst the sapling was just surrounded by a wire fence in the middle of nowhere.\n\nHowever, the pot-hole flowers did not notice the sea of concrete that surrounded it, nor the impending doom of the busy traffic; it was blissfully unaware, happy in its own microcosm of a world.   The sapling could see the wire fence, it could feel the loving protection that it was being given. It could feel the seasons as they passed by. It could see the sky and the feel the wind as it continued to grow.\n\nYou see, Jesus wants us to be saplings; he wants to protect us and to see us grow into glorious Redwoods.\n\nSatan wants us to be pot-hole flowers; contained in concrete and ultimately doomed.\n\nSo, Redwood or pot-hole flower? It really is up to you…",
