In essence, why do you believe or not believe?","appBody":"
PROOFS FOR OR AGAINST RELIGION
\n
First off, I don't think I can defend all religions, because I don't believe in all of them. I don't believe all of them are right. I believe many conflict with one another, and that those conflicts can actually bring about more harm than good.
\n
I do, however, believe in one faith and one baptism. I believe in God, the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I start there. My faith is in God, not in man. I try to follow the actual gospel of Jesus Christ, not the interpretations of it.
\n
That's probably not the easiest way to go about things, but I believe it to be the only true way.
\n
WHAT BELIEF IS NOT
\n
Belief is not proof. It is not evidence, and it is not measurable or even quantifiable. The things I believe, feel, perceive can be explained away, justified or denied by anyone. I don't believe them because someone else proved them, or because they believe them. I believe them through a process that is individual and intimate. It can certainly be duplicated by others, but it can't be explained in the same way a scientific experiment can be conducted, nor can it often be reproduced under the exact same conditions or in the same way.
\n
People are different, and their experiences will vary.
\n
That's why it's belief. It is belief in something that you feel to be true, but that is unseen.
\n
WHY I BELIEVE
\n
Much of why I believe has to do with my own experiences. I have seen enough in my life so far to realize that not all things can be explained. That there is much that science has yet to discover or piece together. I believe I have experienced miracles in my every day life. I believe I have received answers to prayers. I believe those answers have manifested through the Holy Ghost.
\n
Some have come quickly, others, over time. There are still answers I'm waiting upon.
\n
I have studied the scriptures. I have learned and continue to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how to live it as it was meant to be lived. I have seen the good that comes from it, and I have seen what happens when it is not lived. There are times where it's hard to tell the difference, but in many cases, the contrasts are stark.
\n
A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE
\n
There is lasting happiness, purpose, and meaning to be found in living the gospel. Outside of it, happiness is fleeting, and meaning hard to find. I have seen the difference in my own life and in the life of others. Does this act as proof? No. It's circumstantial at best. But I believe that there is a difference in the quality of my life and those of others who learn and follow the teachings of Christ, nonetheless.
\n
To me, there is a logic to the gospel. It makes sense to me. It answers many questions. It holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of God yet to be given to all. It provides comfort, guidance, peace and strength. It has to be experienced. It can be taught, it can be testified about, but ultimately, for someone to believe in it, the gospel needs to be lived.
\n
I suppose, in a way, it can be proved to the one testing it. But for someone else to believe, too, they must also experience it. Otherwise, it can't be proven.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkpnv9d75","appParentAuthor":"myaltaccount","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"} |

In essence, why do you believe or not believe?\",\"appBody\":\"
PROOFS FOR OR AGAINST RELIGION
\\n
First off, I don't think I can defend all religions, because I don't believe in all of them. I don't believe all of them are right. I believe many conflict with one another, and that those conflicts can actually bring about more harm than good.
\\n
I do, however, believe in one faith and one baptism. I believe in God, the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I start there. My faith is in God, not in man. I try to follow the actual gospel of Jesus Christ, not the interpretations of it.
\\n
That's probably not the easiest way to go about things, but I believe it to be the only true way.
\\n
WHAT BELIEF IS NOT
\\n
Belief is not proof. It is not evidence, and it is not measurable or even quantifiable. The things I believe, feel, perceive can be explained away, justified or denied by anyone. I don't believe them because someone else proved them, or because they believe them. I believe them through a process that is individual and intimate. It can certainly be duplicated by others, but it can't be explained in the same way a scientific experiment can be conducted, nor can it often be reproduced under the exact same conditions or in the same way.
\\n
People are different, and their experiences will vary.
\\n
That's why it's belief. It is belief in something that you feel to be true, but that is unseen.
\\n
WHY I BELIEVE
\\n
Much of why I believe has to do with my own experiences. I have seen enough in my life so far to realize that not all things can be explained. That there is much that science has yet to discover or piece together. I believe I have experienced miracles in my every day life. I believe I have received answers to prayers. I believe those answers have manifested through the Holy Ghost.
\\n
Some have come quickly, others, over time. There are still answers I'm waiting upon.
\\n
I have studied the scriptures. I have learned and continue to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how to live it as it was meant to be lived. I have seen the good that comes from it, and I have seen what happens when it is not lived. There are times where it's hard to tell the difference, but in many cases, the contrasts are stark.
\\n
A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE
\\n
There is lasting happiness, purpose, and meaning to be found in living the gospel. Outside of it, happiness is fleeting, and meaning hard to find. I have seen the difference in my own life and in the life of others. Does this act as proof? No. It's circumstantial at best. But I believe that there is a difference in the quality of my life and those of others who learn and follow the teachings of Christ, nonetheless.
\\n
To me, there is a logic to the gospel. It makes sense to me. It answers many questions. It holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of God yet to be given to all. It provides comfort, guidance, peace and strength. It has to be experienced. It can be taught, it can be testified about, but ultimately, for someone to believe in it, the gospel needs to be lived.
\\n
I suppose, in a way, it can be proved to the one testing it. But for someone else to believe, too, they must also experience it. Otherwise, it can't be proven.
\",\"appDepth\":2,\"appParentPermlink\":\"fkpnv9d75\",\"appParentAuthor\":\"myaltaccount\",\"musingAppId\":\"aU2p3C3a8N\",\"musingAppVersion\":\"1.1\",\"musingPostType\":\"answer\"}",

Coffee contains caffeine, a rather strong chemical, and one that the human body doesn't naturally produce. Thus, one who drinks large measures of coffee (Exact amounts have not been published, but I believe one needs to drink multiple cups a day to reach this point) may find himself addicted, and may have problems whenever he can't/doesn't drink coffee, specifically severe headaches.
\n
Sleep disorders.
