bodyWhether you are a beginner or more experienced with photography, here are some of our favorite tips that will help you improve your photography! 1Use the Rule of Thirds This rule helps you take eye-catching pictures by using one of the most effective rules of composition. If you want to take pictures that have a “wow” factor built in them, the Rule of Thirds is the composition secret you need to take advantage of! To use the rule of thirds, imagine four lines, two lying horizontally across the image and two vertical creating nine even squares. Some images will look best with the focal point in the center square, but placing the subject off-center at one of the intersecting points of the imaginary lines will often create a more aesthetically composed photograph. When a photograph is composed using the rule of thirds the eyes will wander the frame. A picture composed using the rule of thirds is usually more pleasing to the eye. If you want to take great photos that you’d be proud of, by using the rules of composition, check out the easy-to-follow Incredibly Important Composition Skills Course! Read our article on The Rule of Thirds to learn more. 2Avoid Camera Shake Camera shake or blur is something that can plague any photographer and here are some ways to avoid it. First, you need to learn how to hold your camera correctly; use both hands, one around the body and one around the lens and hold the camera close to your body for support. Also, for handheld shooting, make sure that you are using a shutter speed that is appropriate for your lens’ focal length. If you’re shutter speed is too slow, any unintentional movement of the camera will result in your entire photograph coming out blurry. The rule of thumb is not to shoot at a shutter speed that is slower than your focal length to minimize this problem: 1 / Focal Length (in mm) = Minimum Shutter Speed (in seconds) So, as an example, if you’re using a 100mm lens, then your shutter speed should be no lower than 1/100th of a second. Use a tripod or monopod whenever possible. Are you confused by any of the terminology? Do you want to easily control your camera and finally get rid of the confusion about focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and other settings? If so, check out our most recommended course: Extremely Essential Camera Skills. It’s the easiest and quickest way to learn how to take great photos while learning all the basics of your camera. 3Learn to use the Exposure Triangle To get your photos looking their best, you need to master the three basics: Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. You also need to understand the relationships between these three controls. When you adjust one of them, you would usually have to consider at least one of the others, to get the desired results. Using Auto Mode takes care of these controls, but you pay the price of not getting your photos to look the way you wanted them, and often disappointing. It’s a better idea to learn how to use Aperture-priority or Shutter-priority modes, and ultimately shoot in Manual mode. To easily learn how to do it, we recommend the Extremely Essential Camera Skills Course. 4Use a Polarizing Filter If you can only buy one filter for your lens, make it a polarizer. The recommended type of polarizer is circular because these allow your camera to use TTL (through the lens) metering such as auto exposure. This filter helps reduce reflections from water as well as metal and glass; it improves the colors of the sky and foliage and will help give your photos the WOW factor. It will do all that while protecting your lens. There’s no reason why you can’t leave it on for all of your photography. We recommend Hoya Polarizer Filters for the best combination of performance and price. 5Create a Sense of Depth When photographing landscapes, it helps to create a sense of depth, in other words, make the viewer feel like they are there. Use a wide-angle lens for a panoramic view and a small aperture of f/16 or smaller to keep the foreground and background sharp. Placing an object or person in the foreground helps give a sense of scale and emphasizes how far away the distance is. Use a tripod if possible, as a small aperture usually requires a slower shutter speed. 6Use Simple Backgrounds The simple approach is usually the best in digital photography, and you have to decide what needs to be in the shot, while not including anything that is a distraction. If possible, choose a plain background – in other words, neutral colors and simple patterns. You want the eye to be drawn to the focal point of the image rather than a patch of color or an odd building in the background. This is especially vital in a shot where the model is placed off center. 7Don’t Use Flash Indoors Flash can look harsh and unnatural especially for indoor portraits. Therefore, there are various ways you can take an image indoors without resorting to flash. First, push the ISO up – usually ISO 800 to 1600 will make a big difference for the shutter speed you can choose. Use the widest aperture possible – this way more light will reach the sensor, and you will have a nice blurred background. Using a tripod or an I.S. (Image Stabilization) lens is also a great way to avoid blur. If you absolutely must use flash, then use a flash with a head you can rotate, and point the light to the ceiling on an angle. To ensure you get the most flattering light for portraits, landscapes or anything else you want to capture – watch this great video here. 8Choose the Right ISO The ISO setting determines how sensitive your camera is to light and also how fine the grain of your image. The ISO we choose depends on the situation – when it’s dark we need to push the ISO up to a higher number, say anything from 400 – 3200 as this will make the camera more sensitive to light, and then we can avoid blurring. On sunny days we can choose ISO 100 or the Auto setting as we have more light to work with. 9Pan to Create Motion If you want to capture a subject in motion, then use the panning technique. To do this, choose a shutter speed around two steps lower than necessary – so for 1/250, we’d choose 1/60. Keep your camera on the subject with your finger half way down on the shutter to lock the focus and when ready, take the photo, remembering to follow them as they move. Use a tripod or monopod if possible to avoid camera shake and get clear movement lines. 10Experiment with Shutter Speed Don’t be afraid to play with the shutter speed to create some interesting effects. When taking a night time shot, use a tripod and try shooting with the shutter speed set at 4 seconds. You will see that the movement of the object is captured along with some light trails. If you choose a faster shutter speed of say 1/250th of a second, the trails will not be as long or bright; instead, you will freeze the action. Try shooting other compositions with moving objects or backgrounds such as waves on a beach, crowds of people walking, cars commuting, with different shutter speeds to either capture blurred movement or snapshots that freeze everything sharply in time. Whenever using slow shutter speeds to blur movement, it is critical that the camera is stabilized to eliminate camera shake. We recommend the AmazonBasics 60-inch Portable Tripod as an excellent entry-level option for taking photographs with slow shutter speeds. !BONUS TIP: Invest More In Learning (and Less on Gear) If you’re thinking about spending thousands on new cameras and lenses, think twice. People often end up disappointed that their shiny new toys aren’t producing that “wow” factor they were expecting. You can take stunning photos that you’ll be proud of, even with a modest digital camera fitted with its standard zoom lens. But you need to have a solid understanding of the basics. That’s why it is critical to master composition and light, before spending anything on new gear.

bodyFortunately, when I worked with Joyce Carol Oates on The Best American Essays of the Century (that’s the last century, by the way), we weren’t restricted to ten selections. So to make my list of the top ten essays since 1950 less impossible, I decided to exclude all the great examples of New Journalism--Tom Wolfe, Gay Talese, Michael Herr, and many others can be reserved for another list. I also decided to include only American writers, so such outstanding English-language essayists as Chris Arthur and Tim Robinson are missing, though they have appeared in The Best American Essays series. And I selected essays, not essayists. A list of the top ten essayists since 1950 would feature some different writers. To my mind, the best essays are deeply personal (that doesn’t necessarily mean autobiographical) and deeply engaged with issues and ideas. And the best essays show that the name of the genre is also a verb, so they demonstrate a mind in process--reflecting, trying-out, essaying.

The blockchain is best known for the lead application Steemit.com, a blogging site that outperformed 1 mln clients in May of 2018. From that point forward, its prominence has been declining because of the maltreatment of its reward circulation framework and the general market downtrend. The element behind Steam, Steemit Inc. has additionally been confronting subsidizing issues and needed to lay off practically 70% of its representatives, because of the precarious drop in cryptographic money costs. Be that as it may, the innovation behind the venture is as yet creating enthusiasm among engineers. Other than Steemit, the undertaking has more than 100 applications on its blockchain and plans the arrival of the Smart Media Tokens (SMT) stage, which will empower distributers to dispatch tokens on the Steem blockchain and adapt their substance. All things considered, at present, the future accomplishment of the task is faulty as it faces numerous issues and hardened market rivalry, which are compromising its long haul improvement. This report is the Initiation Report - our first profound jump into the execution and hazard/compensate factors. The investigation, decision and going with grade mirror our assessment on the long haul esteem prospects of a given token dependent on the present condition of undertaking improvement and pointers of future business reasonability - they are not intended to be characteristic of transient exchanging openings. You can see a full clarification of how our reports are developed and what they mean at the base of this page. Steem Market Opportunities Steem is a social blockchain where designers can make different dApps as options in contrast to existing interpersonal organizations. The task focuses on the web-based social networking market, which is ruled by mammoths like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and so on. The measure of the online networking market is relied upon to develop to $39 billion before the finish of 2019. In 2019, it is likewise assessed that there will be around 2.77 billion web based life clients around the world, up from 2.46 billion out of 2017, the quantity of clients is estimated to develop at around 3% yearly. Most famous informal communities worldwide as of January 2019, positioned by number of dynamic clients (in millions). Steem has officially created different person to person communication applications on its stage, as Steemit (simple of Medium and Reddit), Steepshot (simple of Instagram), and DTube (simple of YouTube). While Steem as a layer 1 blockchain faces rivalry for the most part from other blockchain systems, its most mainstream dApps are contending with items that are as of now commanding the web-based social networking market. The real contenders to Steem in the blockchain business are Ethereum, Tron, and EOS, which remain the most well known decisions for dApp engineers. Contrasted with Ethereuem, Steem gives higher adaptability and free exchanges, which makes it a superior fit for substance driven dApps. Consider Sapien Network, an internet based life stage based on Ethereum that is similar to Steemit. The last has further developed innovation and a customer base of more than 1 million clients. Sapien just has around 5,656 clients and is restricted by Ethereum throughput abilities. The account is reliable for other Ethereum based online life ventures. In any case, the two other significant adversaries, EOS and Tron, have substantially more dynamic biological systems. These blockchains are like Steem from an innovation point of view, yet have more dApps, more exchanges every day, and more extensive networks. Right now Steem dApps are more well known than the EOS (ONO) and Tron (TronChat) options, yet because of the quickly extending client bases of the particular systems, they will turn out to be progressively pervasive in the marketspace. Our discussions with undertakings building dApps on the Steem blockchain uncovered that new businesses are pulled in to the stage since it has a lower section obstruction for engineers than a significant number of its rivals. Web designers who are OK with Javascript and Python can make a simple progress to chipping away at Steem dApps. Rivalry in the Blockchain Space The intensity of Steem dApps in respect to their unified choices is low. The primary highlights that separate Steem's applications from its conventional analogs are content being saved money on the blockchain and crypto rewards for substance creation. Be that as it may, the prizes content makers can at present get on Steem's social application can't come close to the promoting income accessible to them on YouTube, Instagram or others. The circumstance has been distinctive with Steemit.com, where famous creators could hope to get paid, rather than accepting nothing posting on Medium or Reddit. Be that as it may, the fall of digital currency costs and defects in Steemit compensate conveyance prompted creators beginning to leave the stage, diminishing the general nature of the substance. body![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPbQvLxaFaLZHmhvVRGcyUrcqjrNyBwp2cSQ76uF7Mpsp/image.png) Two out of three hotel websites inadvertently leak guests' booking details and personal data to third-party sites, including advertisers and analytics companies, according to research released by Symantec Corp on Wednesday. The study, which looked at more than 1,500 hotel websites in 54 countries that ranged from two-star to five-star properties, comes several months after Marriott International disclosed one of the worst data breaches in history. Symantec said Marriott was not included in the study. Compromised personal information includes full names, email addresses, credit card details and passport numbers of guests that could be used by cybercriminals who are increasingly interested in the movements of influential business professionals and government employees, Symantec said. "While it's no secret that advertisers are tracking users’ browsing habits, in this case, the information shared could allow these third-party services to log into a reservation, view personal details and even cancel the booking altogether," said Candid Wueest, the primary researcher on the study. The research showed compromises usually occur when a hotel site sends confirmation emails with a link that has direct booking information. The reference code attached to the link could be shared with more than 30 different service providers, including social networks, search engines and advertising and analytics services. Wueest said 25 percent of data privacy officers at the affected hotel sites did not reply to Symantec within six weeks when notified of the issue, and those who did took an average of 10 days to respond. "Some admitted that they are still updating their systems to be fully GDPR-compliant," Wueest said, referring to Europe's new privacy law, or the General Data Protection Regulation, which took effect about a year ago and has strict guidelines on how organizations should deal with data leakage.

The reference code attached to the link could be shared with more than 30 different service providers, including social networks, search engines and advertising and analytics services.\n\nWueest said 25 percent of data privacy officers at the affected hotel sites did not reply to Symantec within six weeks when notified of the issue, and those who did took an average of 10 days to respond.\n\n\"Some admitted that they are still updating their systems to be fully GDPR-compliant,\" Wueest said, referring to Europe's new privacy law, or the General Data Protection Regulation, which took effect about a year ago and has strict guidelines on how organizations should deal with data leakage.",

body![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeuGp6NHjKiVY6PnvjDkoF65qMdSAsStS9DBFQ9WrmzxU/image.png) Apple Inc said on Thursday it has nearly doubled the number of suppliers using only clean energy for production work, including two that assemble and make the processor chips for the iPhone. Apple last year said it meets all of its needs with renewable energy such as solar farms that power data centers. But a large part of its carbon footprint comes from its supply chain, and since 2015 Apple has worked directly with those companies to use clean energy for Apple production. Forty-four companies are now in the program, Apple said on Thursday, including Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, whose Foxconn unit makes iPhones, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd, which supplies the A-series chips that power all of Apple's mobile devices. Apple had previously disclosed 23 suppliers in the program. The company defines clean energy as coming from wind, solar or biogas fuel cells, as well as what it calls "low-impact" hydroelectric projects like a site in Oregon that captures energy from water in irrigation canals to power one of its data centers. Apple did not specify where the new suppliers in the program would get clean energy. It encourages suppliers to build their own renewable energy projects, such as when iPad assembler Compal last year built rooftop solar installations on its factories in China. When those options are not available, Apple says it aims to have suppliers sign power-purchase agreements with new renewable energy projects and using purchases of renewable energy credits only when there are no other options. In an interview, Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives, said the company is also on track to pass its goal of adding 4 gigawatts of renewable energy to the grids of its supply chain by 2020 and has a "sight line" to "well over" 5 gigawatts. Jackson declined to say whether Apple would drop suppliers such as Foxconn and TSMC - whose capabilities few others in the global electronics supply chain can match - if they fail to meet their commitments to the program. "It took a while for them to come on board, and so we believe that now that they have, they're fully committed to doing it," Jackson said. "And obviously if they fall down on the job, we'll be right there on their chase. I can't tell you what will happen, but I hope it never does."

body![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmST2sw13n96LVxkwxCAJBznbUShMZv9AhkMhNqzyrvm3B/image.png) Oil prices started Thursday with a decline as crude oil inventories in the U.S. increased much higher than market expectation and crude production in the country remained at record high levels. International benchmark Brent crude was trading at $71.48 per barrel at 0635 GMT with a 0.14% decline after ending Wednesday at $71.58 a barrel. American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $64.31 a barrel at the same time for a 0.05% loss after closing the previous session at $64.34 per barrel. The U.S.' Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Wednesday commercial crude oil inventories in the country increased by 7 million barrels for the week ending April 5, against a market expectation of 2.3 million barrels. The country's crude oil production also remained at a record high level of 12.2 million barrels per day during that period, according to the EIA. On the demand side, weak global economic growth expectations for 2019 put downward pressure on oil prices. The International Monetary Fund said Tuesday it revised down its global economic growth forecast for this year to 3.3%, from its previous estimate of 3.5% in January. Crude prices could decline further if oil output in the U.S., the world's largest producer, continues to remain at an all-time high and economic slowdown hurts overall oil demand worldwide.

body![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNdqrHoLYpFt2sNw9LscPxEUsdwF2SFqcPaebY5N2vCrz/image.png) Production cuts from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), in addition to supply risks from Iran, Venezuela, and Libya continue to pressure global oil supply and keep oil prices high at Friday's opening. After closing the previous session at $70.98 a barrel on Thursday, international benchmark Brent crude gained 0.2% to trade at $71.12 per barrel at 0630 GMT. American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was trading at $63.86 per barrel at the same time with a 0.1% gain after ending the previous day at $63.78 a barrel. The glut of supply in the global oil market is falling after Saudi Arabia-led OPEC and Russia-led non-OPEC agreed on Dec. 7 to trim their total output by 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd) for the first six months of 2019. The U.S.' sanctions on Iran and Venezuela caused a decline in oil production and exports of these countries. The two major producers are estimated to account for 1.76 million bpd in lost output this year, according to the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Oil 2019 Report released on March 11. Additionally, supply from Libya is also in decline as tensions continue between UN-backed Government of National Accord and east Libya-based commander Khalifa Haftar who now controls around half of the oil fields in the country that have a total of 1.1 million bpd of oil production. Due to geopolitical risks and OPEC cuts, Canada-based RBC Capital Markets has raised its oil price forecast for this year by around $6 a barrel. The global investment bank now expects Brent crude to average $75 per barrel from its previous estimate of $69.50 a barrel. WTI forecast is also revised up to $67 per barrel, from $61.30 a barrel previously.
