| title | Review: Paracon HYDRA Gaming Mouse |
| body |
It's about time to get back to the writing. In this review, we will look at a mouse more in the range of Paracon equipment.

Paracon HYDRA is a light weight FPS mouse that does not require drivers or anything to work properly. Let's look at it so you can judge if it's your new weapon in the cyber war.

Paracon is a new manufacturer Geekunit has chosen to launch. The brand is for the new gamer who wants to get started quickly and cheaply. The products are mostly plug'n'play, which means that you simply connect them, and they work as they should. No trouble with complicated drivers, everything is done on the devices themselves.

We start with the packing.

Paracon HYDRA arrives in a nice box with various features printed on the front and the back. You can see the actual mouse through the packing, that way you know how the product looks before unpacking it completely.

Contents:

I would like to make a list of the contents of the box. But since the packaging contains only the mouse itself, I see no reason for that.

Let's take a look at the technical specifications.

As you can read, the mouse is wired and has 4 DPI settings. Besides that, the mouse has built-in blue light, which illuminates when using the mouse. Avago is a well-known sensor that many manufacturers use. So it should work really well.

I do not know what the response time is on the mouse and what switches are used for the different buttons. There is a lot of focus on these informations as soon as you mention gaming.

Manifacturer: Paracon

Connection: Cable

Grip: Right hand

DPI: 800 / 1200 / 1800 / 2000

Sensor: Optical Avago

Buttons: 6

Interface: USB

Compatibility: PC,Mac

OS: Windows, Mac OS

Cable length: 1,5 meter (fabric)

Light: Yes (2 zones, blue)

Should we take a closer look at the mouse.

First impression of the mouse is that it is very light. The mouse weighs only 86 grams without cable and 114 with cable. It's not very much and I might have liked it a little heavier.

In front of the mouse we have the two finger buttons as well as a scroll wheel and a DPI button. The buttons are located quite nicely and coated with 'Non Slip Rubber Coating'. On the scroll wheel itself, there is grooved rubber so you can scroll without problems.

DPI settings are printed in besides the DPI button, but there is no display of any kind. So you have to guess which DPI setting the mouse is on.

The right side of the mouse is without buttons, but on the other hand there is a nice pattern of holes that air the fingers and act like light holes when it gets dark. I'll show that a little later.

On the left side of the mouse we also have some holes for air and light, but here are also a few buttons for the thumb. I'm going to show more about the location of these buttons in the test section below.

On the back of the mouse we find a Paracon logo that lights up when the mouse is connected. As can be seen, the back of the mouse is also coated with the non-slip rubber coating.

If we turn the mouse, we can see there are 4 small sliding pads under the mouse. At first they seemed a bit rough on my mousepad, but after an hour it was worn a bit and slided as it should. It is also here that you can see the sensor, which lights blue when the mouse is on. However, you do not see that under normal use on a normal mouse pad.

The cable is 1.5m long and in blue / black fabric. At the end we find a nice gold-plated USB connector that ensures good connection every time. The cable is relatively soft, which I think is great.

How is the mouse in use.

Daily use:

I've used the mouse over a few days and it actually works really well. The sensor responds to the smallest movement, and you can easily change the DPI setting depending on which task you use the mouse for.

Gaming:

Of course, I've also played, which went without problems. The buttons and the sensor also here react as it should, right away with great conviction .

The comfort:

This mouse is made for Palm Grip. It is used when you lay your entire hand on the mouse and relax. It works well by the way, but I had a little trouble with the thumb buttons. They simply sit too far forward so that I can't reach the front button. The picture below illustrates it quite nicely.

The light:

The light in the mouse is actually quite nice. It is blue, which fits into many setups. The light is in a suitable brightness, so you do not get tired of the light in the evening. All in all quite awesome.

The holes in the side of the mouse, and the Paracon text and the logo on the back of the mouse look really cool. It will decorate every gamer's desk.

My rating:

In fact, I think we should start with the price of this mouse, as it gives a little more meaning to my rating. At the time of writing, you can buy the mouse for just under 120 DKK, which is a formidable price. Normally it costs just under 180 DKK, which is also a very good price. You get quite a lot of mouse for the price.

There are some criticisms that I have included during the review. There are, among other things, the thumb buttons that in my opinion are a bit too far forward to use the front button. Then there is the lack of technical specifications that you would like when you are a gamer. Last but not least, there is the lack of indication of which DPI setting the mouse is on.

It is, however, all something that you can live with, and especially for that price. One can hope that Geekunit reads my little review here and finds the technical specifications for their website, which I link you to beneath.

My rating of the mouse will be a nice 5 star rating. It is so because this product is a pretty good starting product, but it is also a low cost product. You feel it when you use it daily and when you are used to the expensive products. There is a difference, and you get what you pay for. But for the price it is actually pretty good.

Read more about Paracon HYDRA here.

|

"body": "
It's about time to get back to the writing. In this review, we will look at a mouse more in the range of Paracon equipment.
\n
Paracon HYDRA is a light weight FPS mouse that does not require drivers or anything to work properly. Let's look at it so you can judge if it's your new weapon in the cyber war.
\n

\n

\n

\n
Paracon is a new manufacturer Geekunit has chosen to launch. The brand is for the new gamer who wants to get started quickly and cheaply. The products are mostly plug'n'play, which means that you simply connect them, and they work as they should. No trouble with complicated drivers, everything is done on the devices themselves.
\n

\n
We start with the packing.
\n

\n

\n
Paracon HYDRA arrives in a nice box with various features printed on the front and the back. You can see the actual mouse through the packing, that way you know how the product looks before unpacking it completely.
\n
Contents:
\n
I would like to make a list of the contents of the box. But since the packaging contains only the mouse itself, I see no reason for that.
\n

\n
Let's take a look at the technical specifications.
\n
As you can read, the mouse is wired and has 4 DPI settings. Besides that, the mouse has built-in blue light, which illuminates when using the mouse. Avago is a well-known sensor that many manufacturers use. So it should work really well.
\n
I do not know what the response time is on the mouse and what switches are used for the different buttons. There is a lot of focus on these informations as soon as you mention gaming.
\n
\n
Manifacturer: Paracon
\n
Connection: Cable
\n
Grip: Right hand
\n
DPI: 800 / 1200 / 1800 / 2000
\n
Sensor: Optical Avago
\n
Buttons: 6
\n
Interface: USB
\n
Compatibility: PC,Mac
\n
OS: Windows, Mac OS
\n
Cable length: 1,5 meter (fabric)
\n
Light: Yes (2 zones, blue)
\n
\n

\n
Should we take a closer look at the mouse.
\n
First impression of the mouse is that it is very light. The mouse weighs only 86 grams without cable and 114 with cable. It's not very much and I might have liked it a little heavier.
\n

\n

\n

\n
In front of the mouse we have the two finger buttons as well as a scroll wheel and a DPI button. The buttons are located quite nicely and coated with 'Non Slip Rubber Coating'. On the scroll wheel itself, there is grooved rubber so you can scroll without problems.
\n
DPI settings are printed in besides the DPI button, but there is no display of any kind. So you have to guess which DPI setting the mouse is on.
\n

\n

\n

\n
The right side of the mouse is without buttons, but on the other hand there is a nice pattern of holes that air the fingers and act like light holes when it gets dark. | title | Review: be quiet! TFX Power 2 - 300W Gold |
| body |

be quiet! Has sent me a power supply that they would like me to have a look at. It's not often I have this kind of test, and especially not the TFX kind.

A TFX power supply is very small, and made with special design for really small casings. I will show a little more detail in my review below.

Let's just start with the technical specifications.

As be quiet! is having a VERY comprehensive list of specifications, I list the main features of the power supply.

Energy Efficiency

80PLUS Gold certification independently verifies the extremely high operating efficiency (up to 91%) of this design

High efficiency means cost savings, because your PC draws less power from the mains. It also means less wasted heat, less cooling required and an overall quieter operation

Standby drain of less than 0.25 watts

Meets Energy Star 6.0 guidelines

Fulfills ErP 2014 guidelines

Zero Load design and support of Intel’s Deep Power Down C6/C7 mode

Engineering

Use of the latest technology ensures premium performance and reliability

Supports the latest Intel® and AMD™ CPUs

Dual independent 12V-rails improve power signal stability

Full suite of top safety protections defends against over-currents, over- and under-voltages, short circuits, and overloads, thus safeguarding your valuable components

If you would like to see the full specifications, I've printed a PDF file for you here.

TFX_PWR_2_300W_GOLD_SPEC.pdf

Let's get on with the packing and content.

TFX Power 2 comes in a nice, although standard packing from be quiet!. The cool thing about the be quiet! packings is, that you get all the information you need on the box.

Inside the box we find the power supply and some accessories. There is a power cable, a Molex -> PCIe cable, user guide and a small bag of strips and screws.

Content:

be quiet! TFX Power 2 300W Gold PSU

Userguide

Bag with strips & screws

Powercabel

Molex -> PCIe converter

A closer look at the unit.

TFX and SFX supplies are rarely modular. So no additional cables are included, and you can not remove those you do not need.

On top of the supply on this picture, you can see a small notch. It is used during assembly of the system so that the relatively long power supply is held in place by other than just screws.

All connectors on the connectors are marked and the wires are assembled with net / sleeve. Visually, I would have liked if be quiet! had made the cable set with black wires so you did not have all those colors. It's not that nice if you mount in a casing with window.

be quiet! Have made a nice picture of all the cables and the length on them. As you can see, you have 4 SATA connectors, 2 Molex connectors and one FDD connector. If you need to connect a graphics card, you can not use any Molex connectors, as both of these will be used to supply the graphics card. However, it is quite limited what you use Molex connectors for nowadays.

Also note that the motherboard connector is only 4 pin. I might have wanted it to be 2x4 pin instead. It may be that on slightly larger systems a single 4-pole plug is just not enough.

At the opposite end unit, we have the power plug. Unfortunately, it does not have any switch, so you can not turn off the power, unless you unplug it. I think that's a bit a shame, and I might have wanted a switch to turn on and off the power supply.

Finally a picture of the small fan in the power supply. It can run at 1815RPM, and makes a noise level at about 26.5dBA at full speed. It's actually a quite a bit, but because it's temperature controlled, it will probably never come that high. Then there are other problems than the noise from the fan, if that is the case.

Before we begin the test, we need to check the certificates and approvals.

A power supply is subject to a lot of important approvals and certifications nowadays. This power supply is no exception and be quiet! have also chosen to make a little extra of it.

ATX Standard:

The basic standard of power supplies is called ATX, and it indicates how much the different voltages may differ on the power supply. It is important to have as little a loss in a power supply as possible as it is just throwing money into the bin.

This be quiet! TFX Power 2 is 80Plus GOLD approved. I'm working to get it, but unfortunately you have to miss it this time. However, I'm 100% sure that be quiet! has made sure that it is ok and at least meets the ATX standard, which says 120mV peak to peak.

My rating.

Now I finished my test of this small power supply. It is actually a little impressive how much power can be packed down in such a little space.

The length of the cables fits in most casings and purposes, however, I think be quiet! could have given the power supply a GPU plug, instead of adding an extra add-on cable for it. I'm generally not so much for extra connections.

Generally, the voltages are very nice compared to the loads, as confirmed by the 80plus certificate. It's certainly not a problem when it comes to be quiet! And this supply complies with the GOLD standard, which means that it is over 90% effective at 50% load. That's pretty nice.

In fact, when it comes to the price of the power supply, it's not because it's so bad. You have to pay about DKK 400 for this power supply in Danish stores. For that money, you get a good stable power supply, with good power for a workstation or media center. So it's definitely worth the money.

When it comes to the overall rating of the power supply, I give it a nice BRONZE star rating. I do so because I miss a dedicated cable for graphics cards, the wires are not black so it does not look so nice. And in last, I would have wished it was a be quiet! fan in the power supply, which unfortunately is not the case.

Read more about be quiet!

"body": "
\n
be quiet! Has sent me a power supply that they would like me to have a look at. It's not often I have this kind of test, and especially not the TFX kind.
\n
A TFX power supply is very small, and made with special design for really small casings. I will show a little more detail in my review below.
\n

\n
Let's just start with the technical specifications.
\n
As be quiet! is having a VERY comprehensive list of specifications, I list the main features of the power supply.
\n
Energy Efficiency
\n
\n
80PLUS Gold certification independently verifies the extremely high operating efficiency (up to 91%) of this design
\n
High efficiency means cost savings, because your PC draws less power from the mains. It also means less wasted heat, less cooling required and an overall quieter operation
\n
Standby drain of less than 0.25 watts
\n
Meets Energy Star 6.0 guidelines
\n
Fulfills ErP 2014 guidelines
\n
Zero Load design and support of Intel’s Deep Power Down C6/C7 mode
\n
\n
Engineering
\n
\n
Use of the latest technology ensures premium performance and reliability
\n
Supports the latest Intel® and AMD™ CPUs
\n
Dual independent 12V-rails improve power signal stability
\n
Full suite of top safety protections defends against over-currents, over- and under-voltages, short circuits, and overloads, thus safeguarding your valuable components
\n
\n
If you would like to see the full specifications, I've printed a PDF file for you here.
\n
TFX_PWR_2_300W_GOLD_SPEC.pdf
\n
Let's get on with the packing and content.
\n
TFX Power 2 comes in a nice, although standard packing from be quiet!. The cool thing about the be quiet! packings is, that you get all the information you need on the box.
\n

\n
Inside the box we find the power supply and some accessories. There is a power cable, a Molex -> PCIe cable, user guide and a small bag of strips and screws.
\n

\n
Content:
\n
\n
be quiet! TFX Power 2 300W Gold PSU
\n
Userguide
\n
Bag with strips & screws
\n
Powercabel
\n
Molex -> PCIe converter
\n
\n
A closer look at the unit.
\n
TFX and SFX supplies are rarely modular. So no additional cables are included, and you can not remove those you do not need.
\n
On top of the supply on this picture, you can see a small notch. It is used during assembly of the system so that the relatively long power supply is held in place by other than just screws.
\n

\n

\n

\n
All connectors on the connectors are marked and the wires are assembled with net / sleeve. Visually, I would have liked if be quiet! had made the cable set with black wires so you did not have all those colors. It's not that nice if you mount in a casing with window.
\n

\n

\n

\n
\n
Also note that the motherboard connector is only 4 pin. I might have wanted it to be 2x4 pin instead. It may be that on slightly larger systems a single 4-pole plug is just not enough.
\n

\n

\n

\n
At the opposite end unit, we have the power plug. Unfortunately, it does not have any switch, so you can not turn off the power, unless you unplug it. I think that's a bit a shame, and I might have wanted a switch to turn on and off the power supply.
\n

\n

\n

\n
Finally a picture of the small fan in the power supply. It can run at 1815RPM, and makes a noise level at about 26.5dBA at full speed. It's actually a quite a bit, but because it's temperature controlled, it will probably never come that high. Then there are other problems than the noise from the fan, if that is the case.
\n

\n

\n

\n
Before we begin the test, we need to check the certificates and approvals.
\n
A power supply is subject to a lot of important approvals and certifications nowadays. | title | Hardware Review: be quiet! Pure Rock Slim CPU Cooler |
| body |

be quiet! Pure Rock Slim CPU Cooler

Then it's finally been time for a cooler review. I have been going a long time collecting hardware to be able to review coolers and it seems I'm finally there. I start small, but already have some coolers that I want to review over the next period. This review will be of the be quiet! Pure Rock Slim, a small cooler with a 92 mm Pure Wings 2 fan. Let's get started right away.

Let's start with the technical specifications.

You will soon see that this cooler is not particularly big. That is despite the fact that it has a great TDP of 120W. It is compatible with most standard sockets, and makes approx. 25 dBA of noise at full speed on the fan.

Overall dimensions without mounting material (L x W x H), (mm): 81.8 x 97 x 124.8

Total weight (kg): 0.36

TDP (W): 120

Socket compatibility
Intel: 1150 / 1151 / 1155 / 1156
AMD: AM2 (+) / AM3 (+) / AM4 / FM1 / FM2 (+)

Fan model, number: 1x silence-optimized be quiet! fan

Overall noise level (dB(A)) @ 50/75/100% (rpm): 13.1 / 19.2 / 25.4

be quiet! Pure Rock Slim full specifications

What is in the box.

The packing is a typical beautiful be quiet! packing. Typical in black with illustrations and technical specifications of the product on the outside. You are in no doubt how the cooler should perform and looks before packing it out.

In the box itself we find the cooler and a 92 mm fan. There are fittings for both Intel and AMD sockets, and as you can already see, the cooler is installed like the standard coolers that come with the processors. It's smart and does not require any kind of tool.

Content:

be quiet! Pure Rock Slim Cooler

be quiet! Pure Wings 2 92mm Fan

Fan clips

AMD Mounting Bracket

User guide

The Pure Wings 2 fan.

Before I assemble and test, I will just show you the few parts that are with this cooler. I start with the fan itself, which is a 92 mm be quiet! Pure Wings 2 fan.

The Pure Wings series is the answer to a static pressure fan. It is designed to push the air through the cooling ribs so that the cooler is as effective as possible.

As you can see, the fan has the well-known wings with the specially designed surface. This means, among other things, that the fan should make less noise.

At the back of the fan there is a label with model number and all. Among other things, we can see that it is a fan with 2000 RPM. The fan is further more equipped with a 4 pin connectors, which means it is a PWM control able fan for optimal performance. It seems that there is no vibration dampening in the corners of the Pure Wings fans, but be quiet! use 6 pole motors and very sturdy wings, which means that it is incredibly stable when it is running.

Read more about the fan at be quiet here.

The cooler.

I have always, without hiding it been a fan of be quiet! coolers. I have this because of the appearance of their coolers. They make some of the nicest coolers on the market in my opinion.

The top of the cooler is usually what you see through the case window and on this cooler it is designed with a beautiful aluminum plate that does not have the same shape as the actual cooling profile. It works great. There is a nice be quiet! logo printet on it, and all ends of the pipes are covered with caps.

The actual cooling surface has already been applied with cooling paste from the factory, so you know it's the right layer on it. The down side is that you have to go out and buy new if you are going to make a mistake or you need to take the cooler on and off.

The actual cooling profile is offset relative to the center. This means that when the fan is on, it still fills no more than the footprint of the cooler. So there's nothing else that can get in the way of the cooler, and there should be free and easy access to all RAM and VRM modules on the motherboard.

When you receive the cooler, it has a plastic cover mounted so that it does not smear the cooling paste. As you can see, the cooler is mounted with plastic clips, just as we know them from Intel's own cooler. It's super easy to use and the cooler can easily be mounted and removed again. It will not be easier than this.

Using AMD, you can quickly remove the pre-mounted Intel clips and lay the AMD clips over the cooling block. It's not as easy to work with, as you get two loose parts, but it's still quite easy, because you do not have to do anything on the motherboard or anything. You use AMD's own solution for cooling assembly.

The mounting:

As you can see on the pictures, there is more than enough space around the cooler. Plenty of space for RAM, PCIe card and a possible water radiator towards the back. It's a nice little cooler.

With about 4 centimeters to the first PCIe x 16 port, there is plenty free space for a good graphics card, so it can easily get rid of the heat.

Looking under the motherboard you will notice that there is no need to mount anything here. That makes this cooler incredibly easy to install and you can do it completely without having to remove the motherboard from the casing.

The cooler test.

Before I go to the actual cooling efficiency test, I'd like to show you some videos. These videos are for the sole purpose of judging the noise from the fan and the fan mounted on the cooler, respectively.

If you want to see more videos of this kind, I've made a playlist on my YouTube channel, that way you can hear the difference between the different fans and coolers I'm reviewing on the blog.

The fan does not make especially much noise and it has a fairly comfortable sound at full speed. In fact, the noise is more comfortable when the fan is mounted on the cooler, which is fine.

Fan Sound:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-I-4tEI-SU

Cooler Sound:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITKW8c3U8L4

Now it is time to test how good the cooler is and I have used the following procedure and setup.

The procedure:

All of my coolers are being tested with fans on 100% RPMs. I have chosen this to show my readers what the coolers maximum performance is. I'm aware that it's making more noise, but hopefully you do not have the need to have the fan at 100% under normal conditions.

The setup:

I use the following setup for my tests, and can clocke my processor up to 4.7GHz. All overclocks are done with the auto function on the motherboard, as it actually works quite well.

Processor: Intel i7 4790K (TDP=88W)

Ram: 2x4GB Kingston Hyper Beast

Storage: 240GB Intel M2 SSD

Motherboard: MSI Z97A Gaming 6

The software:

The software I have chosen to use is Prime95 without AVX, as it utilizes the CPU in a more natural way. The new versions of Prime95 can also be used, but remember to turn off AVX to get a more natural load of the CPU.

For measuring temperatures, I chose to use HWinfo64, which is an excellent tool for that. Temperatures are measured after a heat-up time of typically 10 minutes for air coolers and 30 minutes for water coolers. The cooler should then be stabilized and the measurement should be done over a 2 minute period after heating up.

The measurements:

Fan RPM: 2100
Room temperature: 25 degrees Celsius

As you can see, this little cooler performs quite well. Most of all, you can compare this cooler by the size with the Cryorig M9i.

Even with a 4.7GHz overclock, the cooler keeps within what I want to call the limit. As long as we do not reach 85 degrees, we are not near anything critical. My 4790K CPU does not start to get critical before about 95 degrees, so there's nothing to fear here.

My evaluation:

Be quiet! has managed to push a very good performance into a nice little cooler. It have seen better, but certainly also worse. The cooler is incredibly easy to mount, which is definitely a plus, as I often think the manufacturers make it quite difficult to mount a cooler.

The Pure Wings 2 fan is a great fan that has some cool features. I'm crazy about the design and overall appearance of it, and it performs excellently without the noise of a plane that is on the takeoff, even at 2000 RPM.

You can buy this cooler for just under 200 DKK online as the cheapest, which I think is a nice price. The cooler is not bigger than it can be in most casings, and it performs as if it was much bigger. All in all, a great and beautiful cooler.

My rating on this cooler will be a nice SILVER star rating. The price matches performance and product perfectly, and you get quite a lot for the money. What you unfortunately does not get is extra cooling paste, which I have never been a fan of. So I think that be quiet! should have thrown a small tube in the box.

Read more about be quiet!
