| body | Ah, Coffee Lake, Intel's pride and joy of 2017 CPUs. The Coffee Lake architecture offers many small improvements over Kaby Lake (which is just a minor architecture redesign of Skylake), but per CPU family in Intel's hierarchy, Coffee Lake has about a 2% advantage per core, and only a 10% advantage overall as a CPU (only because of its higher physical core count). I personally have a Kaby Lake i7 7700k, and it performs like a charm! Overclocked, it even outperforms a Coffee Lake i7 8700k in single core performance! Also, these CPU's are ones you would buy for gaming, not a server workload or general "work" workload. For a workload besides gaming, you're way better off with a Ryzen or Xeon processor. Also, most games today still only use 1 core, and when a Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake cpu has basically the same single core performance, the $100 cheaper Kaby Lake series fares way better in terms of price/performance. Website userbenchmark.com ( http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8700K/3647vs3937 ) which takes samples from thousands of peoples computers and then averages them to compare to other CPUs, shows only a marginal gain from one generation to the next in terms of single core performance. And as these cpus are for gaming or home workstation use, the extra two cores of a coffee lake processor are more than likely not going to be used. Additionally, the better priced Ryzen CPUs offer 4, 6, or 8 cores, the 8 core flagship Ryzen (excluding Threadripper) being the same price as the flagship Coffeelake (both $380 on average). But with Canon Lake around the corner, and Ice Lake leaked for 2019, it may be worth it to hang on to what you have and wait for the 10nm process these new CPUs are being built on to bring us a much awaited leap in processor performance. |

| body | I recently built my first computer, a beast of a machine, with a i7 7700k, 16 gigs of DDR4, a SLI plus motherboard (kinda ironic, just wait), the sucker is water cooled, and is overclocked to the breaking point. But here's the thing, I never got a graphics card. Without this graphics card, my computer is just about as good as a potato PC you could find at the flea market (the iGPU isnt that bad honestly). I received this as a Christmas gift, so im not complaining, but as I was searching around for a cheap graphics card to replace the iGPU, because I cant run any new games, even at 720p windowed on lowest settings, I noticed a extreme lack of quality performance cards for sub $100 (I mean atleast double the power of the iGPU - not that hard to achieve). Even on resale sites like Ebay or Neweggs refurbished section, nothing could outperform my iGPU far enough to be worth the price. Most cards that were half the performance of the iGPU were being sold for about $100, the price of a cheap 1050! I did some more looking, and I have found a few used deals, but the lack of GPUs for a decent price is odd. Most of these old cards, you would think, would be priced at about $30, but most are being sold at or above their original MSRP. I did some researching on this, and because of the flood of fake Chinese GPUs and cryptocurrency mining people are basing their prices off a horridly inflated market. And all GPUs that would be within my price range of $100 (whether used or new) are hyperinflated because of cryptocurrency. I love cryptocurrency because it allows a new medium of exchange but it also paves the way for easier business internationally and potentialy a way for me to buy the GPU I currently cant (as i cant get a job, i have to look elsewhere for a way to get a gpu). I can mine cryptocurrency or contribute to a service to receive different types of cryptos, but in the end I wont be making $50 I need to buy a GTX 650 or the $150 I want to buy a 1050 TI, or $500 to buy the godlike 1080. Even on a rig like mine, CPU mining is not profitalbe or feasible for those ammounts of money. Using services like Steemit, I can earn money through writing articles, but as of this writing I have written 1 other article and have 2 followers, and have made only .0001 Steem. I hate cryptocurrencies as much as I love them, and for good reason. The most people that are mining cryptos, the harder it is for others to mine, which makes it extremely difficult to mine on a consumer grade CPU, especially with my lack of a GPU. Also, the more people mining it, the more GPUs that are flying out of retailers warehouses, and the higher the prices of said GPUs go. So its a endlessly rising tower that I cannot climb, with my current hardware atleast. Altcoins and services such as Steemit give me hope of obtaining enough crypto to buy a GPU (I just wanna play Warhammer II at 40 FPS damn it), but until then im stuck to scourging the web for any money making service. |

"body": "I recently built my first computer, a beast of a machine, with a i7 7700k, 16 gigs of DDR4, a SLI plus motherboard (kinda ironic, just wait), the sucker is water cooled, and is overclocked to the breaking point. Even on a rig like mine, CPU mining is not profitalbe or feasible for those ammounts of money. | body | Now that you have discussed some of the ways that we can have a share of profit by providing some of our computer computing power. I want to know if you already had profited from this things ? I already tried Gomez and Mt5 Trading few years ago but they only gave me like a few cents which is very frustrating bacause at some time they will use almost of my PC and hangs up for a minute or two. Congrats as it is your first post. I'm also new here and im still learning the trade of the game :) Anyways Have a great day and Merry Christmas ! |

| body | So we're all used to turning on the TV, and seeing something about Bitcoin. Or going online and seeing ads for alt coins to mine or this or that trading website to use. Like Steemit, which is a excellent way to make concurrency without needing a computer capable of outputting a ungodly hash rate, there are many other currencies obtainable without the need of extreme processing power. Golem: Golem is a cryptocurrency that uses your computers computational power, but without butchering your hardware like a dedicated miner would. Golem is a currency based around networking your PC into a massive world wide net of other PCs, which people can then rent out and use for research or development purposes. Whenever someone buys the power of your computer, you gain Golem as a reward for being apart of the network. This is a fairly new and upcomming way of making cryptocurrency, but there are others like it. Heres a link to the Golem project if its of interest: https://golem.network/ Folding@Home: Similar to Golem, Folding@Home uses your computers power, but not to mine. Folding@Home was started by Stanford University as a way to decentralize the workload used to simulate the folding of proteins, which could lead to the cure for many prevalent and deadly diseases. Folding@Home sends your computer a folding problem, which it then solves and sends back to researchers. You can do this alone, or in a form of "pools" that they call Teams. This is meant for fun, but many places and services are offering cryptocurrency rewards in the form of PPD, or an entire other cryptocurrency called Curecoin, which is a team of its own, offers its own cryptocurrency for mining with them. However, anything but Curecoin will earn you PPD. Heres a link to the Folding@Home: http://folding.stanford.edu/ GridCoin: Very similarly to Golem, GridCoin is a distributed computing program, and pretty much functions the same way as Golem. Create an account, connect your computer, and start collecting coin for the people that rent the power of your machine. Heres a link: http://www.gridcoin.us/ Factom: Factom is a truly unique cryptocurrency , and has many uses for the future if it is expanded upon. Factom uses processing power to secure companies documents and data in the blockchain, a truly unique way of encrypting and storing data. Currently it has been adopted by Microsoft and its Azure cloud service. Learn more about Factom here: https://www.factom.com/ Post Editing Notes: Ok so this is my first article, I did this mainly to see how Steemit functioned and what I can do as far as writing articles. This is not meant to be a 100% concrete article, but instead of creating a goofy mess of words or writing some nonsense as clickbait or a steem grab, I wanted to create something preliminary but worth a read. |
