      "body": "I first heard them when I was 10, back in '88.  So unlike anything I had been exposed to up until then.  You can say I've grown up with them.  In '91 we moved to Germany for a year, I lived the Black Album during that time.  When Load and Reload we released, those were during my awkward high school days, trying to figure out what I wanted and who I was going to be.  Around ST. Anger, I was living on my own in a small studio apartment, all my friends had moved away, had a job but not a great one, I'm not going to say I was depressed but looking back I was angry for no real reason and not sure I liked myself much.  \n     Death Magnetic was released during a happier time and also felt like an energetic revival of sorts for the band.  Then today, I get home from work, fire up the Facebook and out of nowhere, new MetallicA hits me in the face.  I must have watched the video a dozen times already.  The first time I heard it, it almost brought tears to my eyes, in a good way.  There was just something about their music, their energy, it hits me in a way very few bands have been able to do.  All their albums that I grew up with were released when I was going through something in my life and the music was there for me.  Here is the new song for those who haven't heard it yet.       "body": "I never was into the idea of Leasing.  Didn't really care to look into it or understand it, I figured owning is always the best way to go, right?  A co-worker returned a leased car and went well over the allowed millage, he ended up owing 7K on it.  Yeah, not for me!  But, everyone has their own reasons for leasing vs buying.  We are a single car family at the moment.  I drive a company vehicle when I'm working and my wife works part time so we have been just fine with one car.  Recently I was entertaining the idea of getting a truck, we just bought our first house so a truck will come in handy.  This truck would not be driven everyday.  It would be used mainly for making dump runs, shuttling large items and the occasional camping trip.  It will be going up into the mountains for 1 week a year. I've been hunting for almost 10 years now and only once have I driven my own vehicle.  SO, I guess my question is, with how little I'll be using it, is a lease the better way to go?  The other reason I'm thinking about it is, I won't be trading in another vehicle to get this truck, every car we've had so far we've traded in towards something new.  \n\n     Are leases on trucks different than those on cars?  I'm not looking for some big monster truck, just something full size, 4 doors and capable of getting up the hill.  I did a little research online and saw the millage allotment somewhere around 15K a year.  I'm sure I would be well under that.  I'm partial to Fords but I'm not stuck on only wanting one either.  I know several other automakers are making some great trucks right now and I'm sure all the dealers have their own incentives and deals for leasing.  Throwing this out there to see what experiences other Steemers have had.  Good and bad.",

      "body": "I currently play in 2 leagues.  Although I do play to win, I do this for fun.  Between both leagues, I’ve always at least made it into the playoffs every year, even if its “one and done”, it’s still fun and exciting. I don’t pick my players based on complex graphs, pages and pages of stats or do what every other internet expert says I should do.  I try to base my picks on how well they “should” do, taking into consideration the offensive style, run or pass heavy and most importantly, is this guy going to have the opportunities to have the ball in his hands.  Before, after and during the season I like to write about who I drafted and why then also what goes into setting a line up every week.  I’ll be splitting my posts up between my 2 leagues.  \n\n     One league is taken a little more serious.  It’s a “keeper” league, where we are allowed to keep up to 7 players that are on our roster from the previous season.  It is also scored as PPR, which means Points Per Reception.  The Defensive scoring is also a little funny in that it’s not only based on how many points they give up but also yardage given up.  A little more research goes into this league as we have to decide which, if any, players from the last season that we want to keep and build around.  Some players have gone all in, where they won’t keep any players and start their team from scratch, this is a good strategy for those trying to land a good rookie.  Doesn’t always work but its fun to watch. \n \n      My other league is a “Redraft” league.  We start from scratch every year.  This is more of an old school approach, we just started using elements of PPR this last season.  Where the Keeper League is made up of friends and co-workers, this league is mostly family members and while still fun, it’s not as serious.  We have some guys that base their picks on name cognition alone, this can lead to some funny moments when a few years ago a guy tried to be sneaky and draft Brett Favre with his last pick.  He’s not coming back, let it go!  \n\n     I’ll try to keep my posts to the point when I start posting weekly.  I won’t go too heavy into stats or predictions, mostly recaps and what changes I’m making for the next week.  Basic stuff that might help out other players in the same boat as myself.  My drafts will be held at the end of August and the beginning of September.  I can’t wait for the fun to start!",

It didn’t pay all that great but I didn’t have many responsibilities.  Plus I loved the people I met and worked with.  I spent the first summer out of high school working as a roofer.  My dad told me, “If you don’t have a job by then, you’ll come work with me.”  Sweet, I didn’t have to look for a job!  Had a great summer, working hard and spending my money on going to any rock concert that I could.  When the roofing season came to a close and work got slow I was “let go”.  I knew it was coming so not a huge deal.  Spent a couple months only half-heartedly looking for work.  The local restaurant was always hiring, I was hired on and spent many good years there, learning about life, hard work, and really just growing up.  \n\t\n     Cut to about year 8.  Decided to get married and have a baby.  All of a sudden the restaurant wasn’t going to be my long term goal.  I needed something with health insurance and the possibility for advancement.  Spent my last couple years there really struggling.  Almost out of nowhere, the company that my father in law worked for was hiring for a shop apprentice.  I knew he drove a semi and delivered forklifts but I had no idea they also had a shop where they also worked on them.  They were looking for someone that they could teach and mold into what they wanted, not stuck in old habits.  Plus it was a union job.  Sounded great!  Didn’t hurt that the manager was dating my wife’s Aunt.  I started right away.  \n\n\tI had to learn everything from scratch.  I had no idea how to drive a forklift.  Didn’t have any tools.  Most of the other mechanics had been there for 30 years!  But I showed up every day, did every crap job they didn’t want to do and I would take every opportunity to learn.  That helped break the ice with the old guys.  They ended up taking me under their wing and I got some really good experience in the shop.  A year and a half later the economy took a crap.  2 guys that were hired on after me were laid off.  Salesmen were being let go, parts guys were getting cut.  They were cutting back on office people too.  I talked to the manager and he said they were going to hire a dispatcher and he offered me the job.  I was really hesitant.  But he was honest and said if the economy doesn’t turn around fast there would be more cuts in the shop and I was the next on the block.  So I took the office job. \nI didn’t want to but I couldn’t be out there looking for another job with a wife and baby at home.  Paid the same but I was stuck behind a desk all day.  I was in direct contact with all the mechanics on the road.  They knew me from the shop so I would constantly ask questions about fixing things.  They would always take a few minutes and explain things a little more, knowing I would understand.  I spent a few years behind that desk.  It was good experience.  I was able to learn another side of the business.  It gave me time to build relationships with the other mechanics and also the customers that would call.  Plus, I was still listed in the company’s website as a mechanic so I could still take online training.  Glad I did!\n\t\n\tRumors of our company getting bought out by the main competition had been circling for years.  Then one day, on April 1st of all days, it came true.  We were to be part of an asset acquisition.  We would all have to interview for jobs.  I was sure they would take all the mechanics because that’s a valuable skill.  What did I do?  I answered the phone.  And I was getting pretty tired of it.  Had the interview and was offered the one office position they had available.  I told them I would think about it.  The next day they called back.  They looked at my certifications online and saw I was certified as a maintenance tech.   I was offered a road tech job.  Like a Jiffy Lube on wheels.  Much higher pay, take a company truck home every night.  Plus, I was in a good spot to learn more.  Was doing that for about 3 years.  Learned a lot in that time.  Enough to justify them giving me a shot at a regular service tech job.  I have been doing this now for about 9 months.  There is a lot that I know and even more that I don’t know but I’m out there trying.  Having built strong relationships with my customers from my time as a maintenance tech has helped me take the next step.  I’m always up front and honest with them if I cannot find or fix the problem.  \n\n\tSo that’s a little bit about how I got to where I am now.  I love music, mostly heavy metal and rock and roll, but I’m a guitar guy and anything with a cool guitar part will catch my ears.  I picked up my first guitar about 15 years ago.  I have a few now.  I’ve never taken any lessons but it was never my goal to be in a band or anything.  I started out learning to play parts of my favorite songs.  Most people start with Mary Had A Little Lamb, I started with Enter Sandman.  I also like to write.  I had a blog over the years and would add an entry a couple times a month.  Nothing major, mostly football or music related.  When I heard about Steemit, I did a little research and decided to sign up.  Writing is just something that I do for fun and I figure I have diverse enough interests that my ideas and stories might be entertaining to some.
