| body |  Living a healthy and happy lifestyle is everyone’s dream. However, most people today do not attain this goal of healthy living. Overtime, there have been studies that have brought about different ways and methods to improve physical and mental health. Some of these methods may be too cumbersome for some people to undergo while others do not require extreme dedication and can be easily followed. In this article, I’ll be giving simple tips on how to improve living condition through moderate exercise routine and diet control methods. To maintain good health and body condition, some activities will need to be implemented while others are to be avoided. To maintain a healthy life, the following should be implemented: Always keep your weight in check To maintain a healthy body and mind this is of high importance. However, maintaining a healthy weight is easier said than done. However, it is possible to do this. If you are overweight already, the first step towards reducing your weight is to focus on not gaining any more weight. To reduce weight further, there are some steps you could take. This includes: Making physical activity and movement part of your daily life. This means that you should not remain idle for large parts of the day without movement. Ensure you eat food that contain high amount of fruits and vegies as well as whole grains. When eating, eat small portions of food and chew slowly as this will make you fill up fast. Eat healthy diet Diet is probably the most crucial aspect in general health and weight loss control. The food you take in can either improve your health and physical condition or degrade both. There are certain meals that you should make a part of your diet. These include food that are rich in protein as this will help in suppressing your appetite thereby making you eat less while losing weight without starving yourself. You should also incorporate vitamins and vegetables into your daily diet. On the flipside, you also need to avoid certain meals that may increase weight loss thereby leading to an unhealthy lifestyle. These include sugary drinks which have been found to be a leading cause of weight gain and many diseases. You also need to avoid food that are high on fat. Sticking to healthy diet will go a long way in ensuring that you remain healthy both physically and mentally. Engage in exercise routines This is another proven way to stay healthy and reduce weight as shown by studies over the years. People often do not like these routines because they feel they might not be up to the task. However, different research has shown that when you engage in several short exercise bursts at specific intervals, you get the same health and fitness benefits as a similar amount of exercise done in one longer workout. In fact, in some cases, you can reap even more rewards from these short bursts. So, you don’t have to spend long hours at a go exercising. You just need short bursts at regular intervals. | body |  If I were to ask you which foods tempt you, most likely they wouldn’t be ones that are very healthy. I bet they would be ice cream, potato chips, pizza, or something along those lines. In fact in your mind right now as you’re reading, you are probably thinking about a food that isn’t healthy. Well, aren’t you? Stop for a moment and think about it! The point I’m going to make in this article is that you can change what you crave by changing the way you think about food. All people usually has a “craving problem.” But I don’t see it as a problem at all. I see it as a solution. Cravings are over-rated. They are hodge-podge and we don’t have to be controlled by them. We don’t have to feel temped by ice cream, cookies or 20-ounce prime ribs. Instead, we can be tempted by watermelon, pineapple, oranges or apples; foods like that. Think that sounds crazy? Well it isn’t and you’ll see why. First sit down and think about your eating habits and gather everything you need to know about exactly what you eat and how you eat. The culprit to your weight problem always boils down to snacking, picking, eating foods that are unhealthy or just plain over-eating. Then ask yourself what fruits and vegetables you like. I’m yet to come across someone who hates fruit or hates every vegetable. Finally ask yourself how often you eat fruits or vegetables and it’s always a lot less often than the unhealthy food. After you've gathered the arsenal of information you can have more of a clear idea of your eating patterns. Try to sit down and lay back in a recliner or sofa and close your eyes. Direct your mind and visualize a peaceful place, and within minutes you'll be relaxed like never before. Then start to imagine your favorite fruits and vegetables. Imagine taking a bite of your favorite juicy, ripe fruit and to feel the juices tickling your taste buds. I’ll say to yourself, “from now on anytime I have a craving for food, I will think of a juicy, ripe piece of fruit. And bingo!!! Next thing you know these are exactly the kinds of foods that you start desiring. Why? Because anytime you close your eyes and bring yourself to a calm, relaxed place, your subconscious mind emerges, and it is this part of the mind that controls what you crave. Change your thoughts and you’ll change what you crave. Simple. Let’s look at this from another perspective. Let’s say pineapple is your favorite fruit. Now, if you were sitting with me right now and I gave you a juicy chunk of it, you would enjoy it thoroughly. And you’d want more, right? Of course. Now, let’s say I reached into my refrigerator, whipped-out a piece of chocolate cake and said, “choose one.” Most likely you would opt for the pineapple because you just had a teaser-piece, which would make your mind want more. The fact of the matter is this: you enjoy your favorite fruits just as much as you enjoy your favorite junk foods, you just believe otherwise. Again, cravings are over-rated. The mere mention of that devilish word always seems to conjures-up images of high calorie, high fat foods only because these are the foods you are most exposed to in our media driven world. Your subconscious gets accustomed to this and just doesn’t know any better. Change your minds images and you’ll change your cravings. Here’s a quick 5 minute mental exercise you can begin doing now to help you start changing the way you crave food. Step 1: Find a comfortable, quiet place where there are no distractions. Begin breathing deeply until you are quite relaxed. Next, count backwards from 10-1, slowly. With each count, imagine that your mind is drifting deeper and deeper. Step 2: After you have finished counting, imagine that you are relaxing by yourself in your favorite place. A secluded beach or a log in the woods will do the trick. Imagine yourself feeling so very relaxed and peaceful. Step 3: Next, imagine a basket full of your favorite fresh picked fruit sitting right next to you. See it clearly in your mind, the color, the feel, everything about that fruit. Imagine taking a bite of that juicy fruit and enjoying it like never before.
