I have a ledger nano s and I was surprised aswel with the small memory it has! Only 5 apps at one moment, what a shame! I'm happy that you could delete those apps and still have your funds on it.. but wow... The blue only has a capacity of 8 apps?!? And thanks for the warnings about the high fees suggestions the wallet makes... This is something I could overlook so easy! Good luck! I hope ledger fixed these bugs soon! |

| title | Reviewing ledger blue |
| body | After some deliberation about what hardware wallet to use, I decided to buy Ledger Blue. I have made this decision because the device looked like what I imagined a proper hardware wallet should had looked like. The device has performed as desired, however, overall, I feel that the tech is immature Here’s why 1. When fully charged, the device won’t start. It’s a bug. Will be fixed in the next release. Don’t keep it plugged into your PC or it won’t start next time you want to use it 2. You have no choice but to use Ledger backend. Ok, for novice users using someone else’s full node may be convenient. If you are not a novice (didn’t do marketing research, but I feel that if you are mature enough to buy a hardware wallet, you are likely not a novice), that is a privacy bug (you are disclosing all of your addresses to a 3d party), and an annoyance. Let me elaborate on the second part. Ledger backend also has bugs. Several times I have submitted transactions which failed to propagate from the ledger server. With armory that is easily fixed – just clear up your own mempool, and you’re good to go. Not so with ledger. The issue with transaction propagation seems to be known to ledger developers and they plan on fixing it… sometime in the future. Because 1 month after I reported the bug, it’s still there. If you could switch to your own full node, none of that wouldn’t be a problem. But you can’t switch to your own full node 3. Ledger chrome wallet is buggy and unfinished. For example, today in the morning, when I was trying to accelerate transaction, it proposed that I pay .5 BTC in fees. 4. Device memory. Ok, if you buy a multipurpose device for 230 EUR, you would assume that you can install on it as many apps as you would want. This is not the case however. The device’s memory is very limited, and I can only use 8 apps at any moment in time. You will not be able to install all apps, available for ledger blue at the same time 5. Apps themselves need more work. Let me elaborate. For example, you have 10 btc on your account, and you want to send .1 BTC to your friend. You start the device and the chrome app, and on the device you’ll see 2 transactions: 1) .1 BTC to FRIEND and 2) 9.9 BTC to UNKNOWNADDRESS. The device doesn’t show you whether you have access to address (2). So, if your browser is compromised, it can show you hacker’s address as change address, and you’ll sign it because you have no idea what that address is anyway Conclusions I didn’t try trezor, but I tried a few other hardware wallets, and all that I have tried were even worse than ledger blue. The device is to a good start and somewhat resembles what a good hardware wallet must be. However, I feel that Ledger inc didn’t invest enough resources into polishing the experience and making this wallet secure enough when you add user to the picture, and we may see some attacks on it in the future through the browser app |

But you can’t switch to your own full node\n3.\tLedger chrome wallet is buggy and unfinished. For example, today in the morning, when I was trying to accelerate transaction, it proposed that I pay .5 BTC in fees.\n4.\tDevice memory. Ok, if you buy a multipurpose device for 230 EUR, you would assume that you can install on it as many apps as you would want. This is not the case however. The device’s memory is very limited, and I can only use 8 apps at any moment in time. You will not be able to install all apps, available for ledger blue at the same time\n5.\tApps themselves need more work. So, if your browser is compromised, it can show you hacker’s address as change address, and you’ll sign it because you have no idea what that address is anyway\n\nConclusions\n\nI didn’t try trezor, but I tried a few other hardware wallets, and all that I have tried were even worse than ledger blue. The device is to a good start and somewhat resembles what a good hardware wallet must be. However, I feel that Ledger inc didn’t invest enough resources into polishing the experience and making this wallet secure enough when you add user to the picture, and we may see some attacks on it in the future through the browser app",

| body | I think I'm going to write about this soon too, but I'd love to to read more about how you think a system like this could work. If you don't mind me saying, you're a little light on details 😜 For example, there's nothing in your idea to prevent someone from simply claiming to be someone else and their buddies could vouch for them, which that would be enough to establish trust. But this is clearly not based on anything _real_ about a person, which is what we're trying to verify. The usual way banks or government agencies use to verify someone is who they say they are is with a combination of their name, their signature, their state ID number (social security number) and perhaps proof of this (such as a card), and proof of address, which could be a couple of recent utility bills in the name of the person, or even something mailed out to them as a verification step. This is clunky, takes time, and does not take into account the variety of situations people can find themselves in (not having _directly_ paid a bill in the last three months for example), being homeless or itinerant, or not having a name (!?). So in my opinion we're looking for something that beats this in terms of usability, but also works well to establish identity. |

| body | We have a lot of concerns around the web about our privacy being eroded, and I'm one of the people who are really concerned about this stuff. However, in many cases it's beneficial to be able to demonstrate that you are unique person and to let your counterparty know and verify your data. For example, when you want to get a loan. Or when you want to do business with someone, like hiring freelancer. Or when leaving feedback about contracts held or broken. Currently, it's almost impossible to establish unique identity of people online, however, this problem can be solved with blockchain technology. Here's how this could be done with blockchain. Each user would have to submit a proof of work to establish that the profile is hard to generate. For example, someone could send .1 BTC to an address and submit that address and proof of ownership as proof of uniqueness (note that in my idea, the user retains the ownership of the money, however, his profile will become invalid should he choose to move that money). There is no reason to be only limited to BTC, or for the developers to pre-set the exact value that is needed to establish that the profile is hard to generate. I think that free market is going to take care of that. Next, the user could submit to the network his data encrypted with asymmetric encryption. The users would be than able to share with each other public keys needed to verify data and leave feedback for each other. You could, for example, leave feedback about someone stating that you know that person personally (or through doing business with him, or not at all), you certify that you didn't leave similar feedback for any other profiles owned by him, and that he lives by the address whose encryption is published on the blockchain. The strength of your feedback would be defined by the strength of your profile. I’m thinking about this for some time now, and I’d love to hear some ideas or suggestions |

| body | Here's what really happens when you block people from withdrawing immediately and use average price for withdrawals: 1. When price rises, people are dis-incentivized to withdraw money, because the average will be below the market price 2. When price begins to fall, the average is always above the market price, so people have an incentive to withdraw. Even more, because the withdrawal isn't instantaneous, people are forced to power down over time and sell all the steem in the process. This puts long term downward pressure on the price. What you get is increased upward volatility and never ending downward price spirals I'm all for abolishing all those silly limitations and letting the market rule |

| body | I really don't get it..Why something like that will drive you away from bts and not the other way around? Do you realize that if you have 1,000 bitusd in your account constantly for 1 year you will receive c$202 open.usd in the end of the year and in order for you to receive that the only thing is to take 45,000 bts from the reserve pool and convert them in open.usd? People are getting paid 45,000 daily from the reserve pool for other silly things that don't help bitshares so much... Where is the risk in that? Your only risk is Openledger to run insolvent and the pool to lose 45,000 which if openledger runs insolvent in the current status of bitshares your bts will most probably lose A LOT OF VALUE! I haven't dig to much into steem but I recently decided to hold some steemdollars just because I earn some interest. And even if steemdollar is at 80-85 cents now, I believe that at some point it will be again above $1 and I will be able to convert them to fiat usd if need be without losing anything and having earned a big interest. Imagine now this in bitusd which has historically proved to be very close to the peg and most of the times 5-10% above peg. Seriously I don't understand your fears with this easy and straight forward proposal... |

| body | Actually, there is a solution to steem power transfer problem. Stop giving out steem power to new accounts and make Steemit invite only. If you want to invite someone, you just transfer some part of your steem power to that person, and you are all set. There is no other way to combat the bot account creators. I'm serious, if this issue doesn't get solved, it will come to bite steem community later. With vengeance |
