And thanks for reading!\n\n\nI wish we could go back,\nTo when poetry had meaning\nWhen using it to express love was original and not cheesy\nAnd when it wasn't just used to express displaced rage.\n\nWhen expressive clichés had yet to be said\nWhen fantastical analogies had yet to be read\nWhen studying poetry in school was progressive, \nNot a module to dread.\n\nWhen eager eyes waited in dark alleyways to read the latest works, \nWhen poetry was taboo and exciting due to all of its radical quirks\n\nWhen the music was made up of dirges and hymns\nMaking the romantics fine work that was written on whim\nThe taste of expression in an expressionless world\nOr the taste of romance to a corset bound girl\n\nWhen excitement for language was then at it's peak\nI'd be writing side by side with people like Coleridge and Keats\nFeeling akin to their pantheistic ways, their wanderlust scribbles, made in their opium haze.\n\nWhen cursive was the norm\nAnd embellishments adorned\nLetters wrote in passion and love\n\nSo take me back in a whirlwind to a time long gone by\nTo a time that I crave even if merely to try\nMy hand at truly creating,\nCrafting original thoughts\nThen to blissfully die and my works to be taught\n\nThe invasive metaphors that puncture the soul\nThe classic old English, simply makes it too hard to console\nMy crave for this life\nTo be a linguistic pioneer\nAll driven by my anger at this century’s predictable veneer\nThe walls of this age battered with posts and overused phrases \nCausing immense damage to the literary body\nLike those, 'totes heckers posts saying 'four twenty blaze it'\n\nI think a thought to express myself \nBut it gets thrown out due to the difficulty to impress myself \nTo break from the mold that society has carved of words I'm expected to choose \nAnd the limited expressions that have yet to be used.\n\n\n\nLanguage is dead. And it's now being butchered\nWhilst I stand here and watch\nAs my last dying hope is soon to be lost\nIt's like the loss of a loved one that makes each labored breath \nStab into my chest \nAs I pray for my senses \nTo be lost \nIn the sweet abyss of some kind of death\n\nMy heart aches for the words that do not exist, \nFor ways to express myself but my creativity resists, \nIt won't allow me to articulate a disgusting banality\nSo there dies my creativity a brutal fatality",
