Playing online games I actually realised how delusional ideologies occupy the minds of many foreigners.\n\nFirst of all, apartheid ended in 1994, although the legacy of apartheid still resonates with millions of South African black people it is over now and we are trying to create a better South Africa for us all. The word apartheid often gets thrown out of proportion whenever a politician has no valid premise and can't really defend his point intelligently. Apartheid is over and we should move on. We will share a braai (barbeque) together irrespective of your race, gender or language. We, unfortunately, have a few intellectually constipated people that believe they are better than others because they have a different colour skin. Although these people consist of less than 5% of the population of South Africa it might seem like much more.\n\nThe majority of us believe in Ubunto, we believe that we all should have equal rights. If you stick around with an open mind you might find out.\n\nLibraries have been around since the 3rd century BC and I don't see it going anywhere.  You might say \"Why do we need a library if we can just search something online or watch a YouTube video? My answer is the validity of information online. Anyone can create a page and post bogus information on it. The same goes for Wikipedia. If someone writes a book on a subject he is really tenacious and the information could be more valid than what you would find online. It does not necessarily mean that the information is correct.\n\nLibraries have these \"myths\" to them. People keep asking who uses a library. Well the guy next to you who can't afford a computer that needs to find a new job, the new doctor doing research on a substance that might one day cure Alzheimer's. The walking from school every day learning to read and write for the first time. People who can't afford Netflix or who does not even have access to the internet that are using public libraries for recreational activities. Libraries are not a place that store and organise information. Libraries are communities. \n\nPeople still use libraries! And they still will for another 30 centuries. Virtual libraries are increasing. It is a fact. Artificial Intelligence will replace librarians. Books will all be digitised in the future, no more printed materials will exist other than in museums. I can agree to this. But libraries will still exist. \n\nLibraries offer a service, an information service. Libraries are as important as a hospital, school, church, police station or fire station. It helps develop a country.  It helps illiterate become literate. It helps communities come together and prosper. It helps people access to information that might change their life.\n\nLibraries are here to stay and we should teach our children to not be afraid of libraries so that we can set them up for lifelong learning.",

The name Soweto comes from So (South) We (Western) To (Township).\nhttps://i.imgur.com/RUxPxaz.jpg\nThis person makes a living by selling hand-crafted art pieces. Everyone in Soweto loves each other. He also taught me a nice handshake - the handshake means love, peace, and happiness. It is sad that people in Soweto have so little, but are so happy. People in the richest areas like Sandton and Northcliff are always grumpy and selfish.\nhttps://i.imgur.com/LkztUi9.jpg\nMy girlfriend and I visited the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum. It was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed it. I live in South Africa but I realised how little I actually know about South Africa.\n\nhttps://i.imgur.com/mJ9CmMh.jpg\n\nThe memorial is situated in Orlando, Soweto. It commemorates the role of the country’s students in the struggle against apartheid and, in particular, the role played by the school children. These children took part in the Soweto protests of 1976, many of whom were shot by the apartheid police while protesting against the sub-standard education in black schools in South Africa.\n\nThe students protested against the use of Afrikaans in all the schools. It was a peaceful protest. But they got stopped by police on the way to Orlando stadium. Students started throwing stones at the police which resulted in the police starting to shoot at the school kids. One of the first to be killed by the police was 12-year-old Hector Pieterson.\n\nhttps://i.imgur.com/9fboEO4.jpg\n\nSad times we lived in, and I believe South Africa is a better place now.\n\nOur next stop was the Orlando Towers.\n\nhttps://i.imgur.com/gJY0VXq.jpg\n\nPlanning for the construction of Orlando started in 1935, as the electricity demand of Johannesburg was rising faster than what could be met with the existing City Generating Station - located in downtown Johannesburg. The location for the station was selected due to its proximity to water supplies for coolant, and railway lines for the delivery of coal. Construction started in 1939 with Merz & McLellan as consulting engineers, but completion was delayed due to the outbreak of the Second World War. The last phase of construction was completed in 1955. Until 1990 two Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST steam engines (Nos. 7805 Elizabeth and 7398 George) were used to move incoming coal trains through a wagon tipper at the power plant.\nhttps://i.imgur.com/BfWQsHr.jpg\nAbove is  a shot I took next to the towers which shows some pipeworks of the nuclear power station.\nhttps://i.imgur.com/Ccbd3HI.jpg\nThey turned the cooling towers into a bungee jump strip.\nhttps://i.imgur.com/1P3VymJ.jpg\nFor R550 per person you can jump off the Orlando towers.
