Binanın tasarımı Mimar Hakan Kıran tarafından yapılmıştır. 2012 yılında tamamlanan bina, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Senfoni Orkestrası'nın tüm teknik ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak şekilde inşa edilmiştir.\n\nBinanın tasarımı, modern mimari çizgilerini yansıtmaktadır. 10.000 metrekarelik bir alanda yer alan binanın içinde, Senfoni Orkestrası'nın prova salonları, kayıt stüdyoları, konser salonu, kütüphane, ofisler ve diğer destekleyici alanlar bulunmaktadır.\n\nBinanın dış cephesinde yer alan cam paneller, gün ışığının binanın içine daha fazla girmesini sağlar ve doğal ışıklandırma ile enerji tasarrufuna katkıda bulunur. Yumurtalık'ın tarihi, antik çağlara kadar uzanmaktadır. İlçenin adı, Romalıların burada yaptığı salamura yumurta üretiminden gelmektedir.\n\nİlçenin en önemli tarihi yapılarından biri, 13. yüzyılda yapılmış olan Yumurtalık Kalesi'dir. Kale, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu döneminde de kullanılmış ve günümüze kadar ulaşmayı başarmıştır. Ayrıca ilçede, 19. yüzyılda inşa edilmiş olan Yumurtalık Camii de ziyaret edilebilecek önemli tarihi yapılar arasındadır.\n\nYumurtalık, doğal güzellikleriyle de ünlü bir yerdir. İlçede, deniz ve kumun birleştiği uzun bir plaj bulunmaktadır. Bu plaj, yaz aylarında hem yerli hem de yabancı turistlerin yoğun ilgi gösterdiği bir yerdir. Ayrıca, ilçenin güneyinde, Akyatan Gölü adlı tatlı su gölü yer almaktadır. Akyatan Gölü, sahip olduğu zengin fauna ve flora nedeniyle önemli bir doğal yaşam alanıdır.\n\nYumurtalık, aynı zamanda kültürel özellikleriyle de dikkat çekmektedir. İlçede, geleneksel Türk el sanatlarından olan bakırcılık ve halıcılık gibi faaliyetler halen sürdürülmektedir. Ayrıca ilçenin mutfağı da oldukça zengindir. Özellikle balık yemekleri ve Adana kebabı, Yumurtalık'ın meşhur yemekleri arasındadır.\n\nSonuç olarak, Yumurtalık, tarihi, doğal güzellikleri ve kültürel özellikleri ile önemli bir yerleşim yeridir.       "body": "The Need for Needles\n\nWell, first off, experts agree: You have to suck it up and get the shot. Flu shots are \"the first and best way to protect yourself and your family from the flu,\" according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC recommends, and has for years, that everyone over 6 months old be immunized every year. The influenza virus is transmitted easily, so having as many people vaccinated as possible is the best way to keep it from spreading throughout the population.\n\n\"The key is to get the flu shot,\" says Dr. Aaron Milstone, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a professor of pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. \"It's like a lot of things in life that you can't time perfectly. My concern is that if people try to time things too perfectly, they'll end up missing.\"\n\nMissing is bad, because the flu is serious business. According to the CDC, flu is the biggest cause of death from a vaccine-preventable disease in the U.S. It's hard to pin down how many die each year because flu seasons vary wildly. But in the 2003-2004 flu season, the worst one in a recent study, 48,614 Americans died from the flu. In contrast, the 1985-86 season saw 3,349 deaths.\n\nSo take a deep breath. Take the shot. Make sure everyone in your family does, too.\n\nOh, and forget the nose spray stuff. The CDC says that, in the 2016-17 flu season, injectables are the only way to go.\n\nIt's (Not) All in the Timing\n\nWhen do you go in, then, for your annual lancing? You can do your shot now, assuming you live in the Northern Hemisphere. The vaccine is widely available. Any corner drugstore worth its white-coated pharmacists has it ready to go, especially this time of year, before the flu season unfolds. Your doctor probably has it on hand, too.\n\nDoctors, in fact, are told they can start poking away as soon as the vaccine is available. So if you want to jump in front of things, by all means, roll up your sleeve and look the other way.\n\nBut timing that shot, according to some, should at least be considered.\n\nThe CDC says that you should be vaccinated against flu no later than the end of October. But Dr. Laura Haynes, an immunologist at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging, told NPR's Scott Simon that older people might want to hold off, just a little: From NPR:\n\n\"The best time for most people to get the flu vaccine would be in October. If you're a little bit older and over 65, I would say between Halloween and Thanksgiving. ...\n\n\"Their immune response isn't as good to the vaccine. So the protection that's induced wanes more quickly. So therefore, you'd want to wait a little bit longer than you would if you were a younger adult. That way, you're protected throughout the majority of the really bad flu season, which happens from, say, January to April.\"\n\nThe flip side to waiting is jumping right in. Although Milstone sees no real problem with snagging a shot in August, or even July when some of the new crop of vaccines start popping up, it's probably not necessary that early, he says. The leftover protection from your last shot is usually enough to hold off any nasty early arriving virus. (In Maryland, Milstone points out, they've seen a few cases of the flu already — in mid- to late September!)\n\nA Gambling Fool\n\nPeople who try to time their annual sticking to the height of the flu season (when they figure the vaccine will be the most potent) have at least two big problems to face.\n\nFirst, the height of the flu season varies from year to year. It could be January, it could be February, it could be later. Good luck guessing on that. Second, if a bunch of flu cases pop up early, and you're not ready for it ... well, it takes 10-14 days for the vaccine to begin to work, Milstone says. If you try to time it and an early wave heads your way, you're out of luck and into bed. And that cough and fever could spread to others who were trying to time things like you.\n\nThanks for gambling on that.\n\n\"It's kind of like going to Vegas,\" Milstone says. \"Some people are going to be able to be the outlier and get lucky and win big. Most people aren't. I think timing in this case is a risk that, for most people, is not the smart thing to do.\"",

      "body": "There's significant potential for a 2020 \"twindemic\" as flu season looms and the COVID-19 pandemic continues. So, this fall and winter when you feel those sniffles and a scratchy throat start to come on it's going to be only natural to wonder what ails you: influenza or COVID-19? Not to mention, what do you do about it?\n\nThe distinction is important, because although both are highly contagious respiratory diseases that are potentially dangerous, they are handled differently. A positive COVID-19 test requires a person to isolate at home for 10 days after the test was initially taken or onset of symptoms, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). (People with severe COVID-19 cases or who are immunocompromised may have to isolate even longer, up to 20 days, depending on their doctors' advice.) This is a significant difference from influenza, where people can go back out in public once they've been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours. This can obviously affect when a person is cleared to return to work, school or sports.\n\nThe mortality rates for both diseases are very different too. For COVID-19, it is 3-4 percent, while for seasonal influenza, the rate is less than 0.1 percent, according to the World Health Organization, which notes that 80 percent of COVID-19 cases are mild or asymptomatic.\n\nWhat's the Same and What's Different About COVID-19 and Flu Symptoms?\n\"There is a lot of overlap. There's no one symptom that can definitively tell you have one or another,\" explains Dr. Ben Singer, pulmonary and critical care specialist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.\n\nFor example, all the following are typical symptoms of both flu and COVID-19:\n\nFever\nCough\nShortness of breath (more severe in COVID-19 patients)\nFatigue\nSore throat\nMuscle aches\nHeadache\nThese are COVID-specific symptoms:\n\nLoss of smell or taste\nDiarrhea\nSometimes, \"COVID Toe\", purplish spots or rashes that show up on the toes, heels or fingers\nOnset and Duration of Flu and COVD-19\nOne differentiating factor between flu and COVID-19 is how quickly and severely the diseases hit a patient. \"Flu people tend to get sick very quickly,\" Dr. Singer says, noting that by comparison people with COVID get sick over time. \"They have symptoms a week or so before they need to come into the ICU.\"\n\nTypically, flu symptoms develop one to four days after infection, while for COVID-19, it is usually five days after infection, according to the CDC. However, COVID-19 symptoms can begin as early as two days after infection or as late as two weeks after infection. Both flu and COVID-19 are spread from close contact with another person, through coughing, sneezing or talking.\n\nPeople with full-on flu also tend to get better faster than those patients with serious COVID-19, although people with mild versions of both illnesses tend to recover at around the same rate.\n\nWhat to Do When Symptoms Present\nHere's what you should do when potential COVID-19 or flu symptoms pop up.\n\nCall Your Doctor. You'll be screened over the phone for symptoms and might even have a video conference to determine next steps. \"If they don't have the COVID test they almost certainly should know [where to get it],\" Singer says. Wondering why you should bother the doctor if they're just going to send you somewhere else for a test? \"The doctor knows so much more about people's medical history and whether they would be more susceptible to complications from one disease or another,\" explains Singer.\nGet a COVID-19 Test. If you have symptoms and are so advised by a doctor, get a COVID-19 test. The problem is that the results could take a while to come back. \"This is why I would really hope there will be widespread availability of rapid testing for both viruses so when someone has these nonspecific symptoms they could rapidly find out if it's flu, COVID or neither,\" Singer says. While you wait for results, however, you'll have to isolate at home. At least you're already in conversations with your doctor, in case you get sicker.\nGet a Flu Test. Your doctor may also advise you to go ahead with a flu test. In the past, many people didn't bother with this because they could recover at home with little to no intervention. However, a very low percentage of people can have both flu and COVID-19, leaving them extra-vulnerable to complications, and also to making others sick.\nStay Home. Treatment for mild cases is similar for both illnesses. \"If you have a mild disease, stay home, rest, drink lots of fluids, treat your symptoms, and keep in touch with your health care provider,\" says Dr. Leann Poston with Invigor Medical. \"In both influenza and COVID, if you have more severe symptoms contact a health care provider immediately.\" Over-the-counter medications, like acetaminophen (Tylenol), can be used to treat mild cases of COVID-19 or flu. For more severe cases of flu, antiviral drugs (like Tamiflu) are available. Severe cases of COVID-19 may require hospitalization and a variety of other treatments.\nGet a Flu Shot to Prevent Confusion\nThe flu vaccine gets a lot of flack for not being 100 percent effective, but it's still the best line of defense against the illness, as it significantly reduces the severity of the virus if you still manage to come down with it. During a pandemic where mixed messages seem to abound, the health professionals are totally in sync that everyone who's able should get a flu vaccine.\n\n\"Only around 2/5 [40 percent] of the U.S. population gets their annual influenza vaccine. If we could double that percentage, we could reach herd immunity and nearly eliminate the presence of influenza in most years,\" explains Troy Tassier, an associate professor of economics at Fordham University and the author of \"The Economics of Epidemiology\" in an email. \"This is especially important this year with the expected drain on health care resources from a predicted COVID-19 second wave.\" Indeed, a simultaneous wave of both influenza and COVID-19 could be catastrophic to the health care system.\n\nDr. Manisha Singal, chief medical officer and critical care physician at Washington, D.C.'s Bridgepoint Hospital cautions people to take the incoming flu season seriously. \"There is real potential devastation that co-infection may have on our lives,\" she says. \"Our best defense is a strong offense – we need to utilize the tools and preventative strategies we have available to us now.\"",
