      "body": "It's amazing how you describing Silene Capensis  was an absolute replication of my experience with it. Grinding it was a hassle (I did it the old fashioned way - mortar and pestle), the froth tastes bad, I too found that shaking the container was preferable to using any wooden instruments and I too had some non-lucid dreams that could be attributed to these effects. I have them all documented in my journal, and I took the root for over a month I believe. Funnily enough I still have it after all these years, maybe I'll give it another go.\n\nNice post. Upvoted. When I often talk to people about lucid dreaming and wanting to research dreaming in general and lucid dreaming specifically, they ask me what the end goal is. I guess the end goal would be to truly understand from all perspectives, if possible, the phenomenon that is called dreaming, and to that extent, the paradoxical nature of active or lucid dreaming. \n\nBut in order to figure those things out, if that's even feasible, one must study empirically with objective qualitative measures and methodical approach that can then be replicated and validated numerous times over. (Like LaBerge's famous experiment, for instance)\n\nSince the sample size is always minuscule in regards to the general populations, and since the phenomenon is not as common nor easy to 'synthetically' produce (as opposed to natural occurring LDs) in lab conditions, there is a lot of basic research missing. I aim to bridge some of these gaps, and to make it my life long mission to try and answer these questions or pave the way for others after me.\n\nI would like to know how we could be in touch besides this platform.       "body": "No worries!  That is great.  Definitely keep in touch.  The possibilities in lucid dreams are endless and well worth being studied.  There are plenty areas that need to be researched.  I find that most students who get in touch about wanting to do a thesis want to focus on topics that are a bit grand without much guarantee that it'd help the field progress since there is a lot of basic science research that hasn't even been done yet...  Like the differences between lucid and nonlucid dreaming, objective qualitative measures of lucid dreaming, how to enhance induction rates using the techniques we already know work, etc.   These more basic areas of study are more urgently needed imo, especially since getting enough data on lucid dreaming in the general or even high-interest populations (with the exception of narcoleptics) is pretty difficult.  This makes it hard to come to any strong or meaningful conclusions about things like the healing potential of lucid dreams or more abstract topics).   I do find it interesting that you are doing dream journal research with lucid dreamers though...Is that a retrospective study of dream content?  I'm interested to hear more and hope you'll keep sharing your ideas in one way or another.",

      "body": "Hey armout, thanks for taking the time to read my post!\nWhen talking about the concept of time within dreams, one must distinguish between physical REM sleep period measured in units of time (i.e minutes lets say) and the subjective sense of time, felt from within the dream by the dreamer. Now here is where it gets interesting. I found in my own explorations that the subjective sense of time can be stretched immensely, even within the physical boundaries of dreaming, which are yet to be fully understood. (As said in the post, dreams can occur in NREM sleep too so, although you do have micro awakenings, so staying within the same dream for too long in the real world is yet to be determined feasible) \nSo what I'm getting at here, is that by increasing the lucidity levels and how in control/aware you are within your lucid dream, you can stretch the subjective sense of time for you, to feel like your lucid dream was a day long, in what you conceive to be a 'day long' in real time. Does that make sense?",

      "body": "Thanks for this informative post.\nDo you know if there is also a way to increase the time you're in a (lucid) dream? As far as I know, the times of the dream rise linear to the time you slept before. However, my last lucid dream was for me way too short. (Maybe because it was so amazinng)",
