      "body": "시작하기 전에 맛보기 글..\n\n①<로마공화정 웅변가 키케로는 연설문을 미리 작성않아. 말의 시대>\n②<(글)쓰기는 의식(생각)을 재구조화한다>\n③<책읽기. 책의 골자(骨子)를 추출하면 책은 피를 흘릴 것인가?>\n④<대소문자 구분에 의한 철자법은 거의 18C에야 자리잡는다-유럽>\n⑤<마침, 쉼, 물음, 느낌표 없는 글 13C에야 사라진다. 유럽>(16.10.5)\n⑥<모음과 자음 구분기준은 자유, 입속의 자유. 걸리적거림 없는>\n⑦<고대 그리스는 페니키아 알파벳 쓰기법은 왜 따르지 않았을까?>\n⑧<초기 고대 그리스 문장, 짝수 줄의 알파벳은 물구나무를 섰다>\n⑨<12C까지 유럽은 묵독(默讀)하면 이상하게 쳐다봤다. 우리는?>\n⑩<알파벳문자만이 문명문자라고 한 자 둘. 루소와 맥루한. 이런..>\n⑪<한글은 문자. 찌아찌아어는 언어. 같이 가보려 했는데>\n⑫<글로는 말을 다 전하지 못하고, 말로는 뜻을 다 전하지 못한다>\n⑬<구텐베르크의 금속활자 발명은 왜? 면죄부 대량 판매로 돈벌려고>\n⑭<중국에서 유럽 전래. 종이, 화약, 나침반. 금속활자는 빼야>\n⑮<한자, 표의문자는 옛 인쇄술 발전에는 불리. 독특한 에크리튀르>\n⑯<먹, 벼루, 붓과는 달리 종이는 기원 후에 발명되었다. 음...>\n⑰<양피지는 고대 이집트의 파피루스 수출 금지땜에 탄생했다> \n⑱<진시황은 분서갱유 당시 종이책을 불태우지 않았다>\n\n1.∼8.\n9. 글쓰기와 글읽기가) 흥미있는 서두 열기 \n나) 먼저 글쓰기\na) ∼ h)\n다) 이어서 글읽기a) ∼ c) \nd) (직전 글)\n\ne) 글읽기 - 성독\n\n참 길게도 왔다.\n가을, 책, 인쇄, 글쓰기, 글읽기 등에 관한 흥미가 여기까지 이르게 했다.\n이제 거의 막바지.\n글읽기에 관한 것이다.\n\n지금 눈과 귀가 성한 사람은 이 주제에 무슨 관심을 가지랴.\n그런데 아니다.\n언어와 문자가 인간을 탐구하는데 출발점이지 않은가?\n이제 남은 주제를 어찌 정리하여 마무리할 것인가?\n주제어를 뭘로 할 것인가?\n\n문자의 읽기법인 문자읽기 즉 읽기에 대해 다시 또 얘기 해본다.\n읽기는 말하기와는 다르다. \n글(문자)가 있기에 읽기를 시도할 수 있다.\n글(문자)가 있기 전에는 말하기만 있었고, \n말하기는 때로는 읊기 또는 읊조리기라고도 할 수 있었다.\n아니면 외치기 또는 속삭이기라고도 할 수 있을 것이다.\n인류는 오랫동안 말로 하는 언어를 사용하여 왔다. \n책이라는 것을 가진 뒤에도 괘 오랫동안 말로 책을 읽었다. \n눈으로 읽지만 않았다는 말이다.\n글(문자)이 생기고 실생활에서 사용된 후에도 읽기가 아니라 말하기가 계속되었다.\n문자는 모든 사람에게만 사용된 것이 아니었기 때문이다.\n\n아울러 필사 문화에 들어섰을지라도 여전히 구술문화가 유지되었고, 성독이 일반적이었다.\n기원후 4세기의 밀라노 주교 암브로시아(Saint Ambrose)는 글보다는 듣는 것을 믿는다고 기록하였으니까. 그런데 기록하였으니 믿으라고? 이 역설이...\n로마의 키케로(Marcus Tullius Cicero, 기원전 106∽기원전 43년)는 원로원에서 장광설을 구사하면 원고를 보고 읽은 게 아니었다.\n누군가가 받아쓰고 나중에 글로 남겼다.\n엄연히 말의 시대가 지배하는 것임을 알 수 있다.\n\n유럽의 옛날에는 조직이나 사회 또는 왕국의 대표라고 해도 글(문자)를 모르는 자들이 꽤 있었다. \n누가 읽었겠는가?\n글(문자) 쓰기와 읽기는 어쩌면 당시에는 기능인의 역할이라고 여겨졌을 것이다.\n글(문자)을 모른다고 부끄러워 할 이유가 없었던 것 같다.\n오히려 말하기가 우위의, 당연한 소통의 방법으로 여겨졌던 것 같다.\n물론 편지가 없었던 것은 아니다.\n편지를 보내도 글(문자)를 모르는 귀족들은 누구에게 시켰겠는가?\n비밀이 새나가면 어찌?\n걱정안한다.\n그들은 종(노예)를 의식을 가진 인간으로 여기지 않았다.\n\n프랑크 왕국의 카알 대제도 글을 몰랐다.\n페북에 올린 <황야설수야설(黃也說竪也說)의 작은 인문(人文) 카페(65)>(2016.10.7)에는 카알대제가 라틴문자의 정비에 큰 공을 세운 일을 다루고 있다.\n기록을 보면 서구에서는(유럽이라는 말이겠지) 12세기에야 \n책이 진정 소리내지 않고 읽히는 것으로 여겨진다.\n그럼에도 전술한 것처럼 18세기 까지도 구술문화가 지속되고 있다.\n\n로마인들의 이어쓰기[스크립티오 콘티누아(Scriptio continua)]는 \n-대문자로 쓰여졌고\n-단어사이의 띄어쓰기와\n-글자사이의 어떤 표시(쉼표, 마침표, 물음표, 느낌표 등)도 쓰지 않는 것.\n이것이 중세까지도 이어졌던 것이다.\n\n기원전 13세기까지 그리스문자와 로마문자가 그랬다.\n글쓰기에 관한 앞의 글들에서 이미 진술한 것이다.\n이어쓴다는 그것이 바로 말의 지배를 상징하는 것이기에.\n이것을 버리는 것은 바로 코덱스 자체의 혁신을 말하며 이것을 계기로 급변한다.\n근대의 지식은 힘이다.\n\n다른 해석은 바로 이러한 인쇄 기반의 문자성에 대한 지지가 아닌가?\n말의 표기를 위해 \n-알파벳문장은 중세까지는 이어쓰기[스크립티오 콘티누아(Scriptio continua)]이나 \n오늘날은 여백으로 이를 표기하여야 한다고 해도 과언이 아니다.\n성독(聲讀)의 역사. 이후의 \n묵독(默讀)의 역사는 꽤 늦은 역사의 사건이다. \n12세기에 이르러서야 묵독이 진정한 읽기로 받아들여졌다고 이미 말했다.\n그전에는 묵독은 이상한 모습으로 여겨졌다.\n그리스 로마 사람들에게는 소리내어 읽는게 당연했다.\n이게 귀찮은 사람들은 노예를 사서 글을 읽혔다.\n그런데 12세기에 접어들면서 묵독으로의 문화의 변모가 일어나기 시작한 것이다.\n책 미디어가 실질적인 문화적 충격을 주기 시작하는 것은 어쩌면 책 자체의 등장이 아니라, 책을 읽는 것이 아니라 보는 것이라는 이미지의 전환 이후부터일 것이다.\n그런데도 이후에도 지속적으로 글은 말의 보조적 도구로 인식하는 경향을 강하게 유지되었다.\n중세 대학이나 청중들 앞에서의 낭독은 여전히 보편적이었다.\n하물며 회계(會計)라는 개념도 영어로 auditing 인데, \n이것도 구술문화 시절의 듣는 문화의 유물이다. \nauditing은 청취하면서 감시한다는 의미이기에.\n\n맥루한(Herbert Marshall McLuhan, 1911∽1980년)이 이걸 짚었던 것이다.\n\"귀의 세계는 눈의 세계에 비해 훨씬 더 포용력이 있고 포괄적이다. \n귀는 초감각적이고, 눈은 냉정하고 거리를 둔다. \n귀는 인간으로 하여금 우주적인 공황상태에 처하도록 하는 반면, \n문자 문화와 기계적인 시계에 의해 확장된 눈은 쉼없는 음향의 압력과 방향으로부터 자유로운 일정한 간격과 섬들을 남겨 둔다\"\n\n성독의 파괴. \n소리내어 읽는 수많은 행간을 시선으로 수렴하여 (묵독에 의하여) 없애버렸다. \n미디어의 발전의 역행.\n맥루한은 TV가 되살렸다고 하나 이는 어불성설. \nTV는 바보상자일 뿐인데.. \n그리고 하이퍼텍스트 사고의 파괴.\n\n음성(音聲)을 통한 떨림, 미묘한 흔들림, 더듬거림, 긴장이 눈녹듯 사라진다.\n책 안에서 음성의 유물을 남기려는 여전한 시도는 아직도 시(詩)에 남아 있다.\n왜 역사 이전에 그 많은 음유시인과 음영시인이 있었겠는가?\n읽으면 시(詩)가 된다.\n모든 글을 읽으면 시(詩)가 된다.\n운율(리듬)이 없다면 시(詩)가 아니다. 산문(散文)이다.\n산문(散文)도 읽으면 시(詩)가 되게 쓰면 얼마나 좋으랴.\n구술문화의 시대는 바로 이 정형구를 통한 정형성과 운율을 통한 기억의 전승으로 살아남았고 지금도 여전히 살아남아 있다.\n묵독으로 책의 문화가 변모하기 시작하니 글을 제대로 보기 위해서는 낱말과 낱말 사이를 구분하고 문장을 구분하여야 한다. 그리고 이를 글에 표시하여야 한다.\n바로 이 지점에서 의문을 표시한다.\n\n언어에 종속된 문자 시대를 넘어, 문자가 우위를 점하는 시기가 언제인가? \n과연 있는가?\n뜻으로 말을 이기지 못하고 말로는 글을 이기지 못하는 시대는 언제부터일가?\n로마법 시대인가? 언약의 시대인가?\n언약이 있다면 글약, 문자약은 없는가?\n신성문자는 언약의 글인가 글약의 글인가?\n십계명은 문자의 지배인가 언어의 지배인가?\n일반적인 견해로 말한다면 문자성의 우위, 묵독의 우위는 맥루한 식의 ‘인쇄 시대’가 더불어 시작되었다고 일단.\n\n언어의 우위성(우선성)과 이를 토대로 하는 철학이 있고\n문자의 우위성(우선성)과 이를 토대로 하는 철학이 있다,\n두 가지 관점이 다 옳을 수도 있고 주장이 있으나 부족한 논증도 아직 많다.\n게다가 첨언하면 문자는 문자의 종류에 따라 음악성과 회화성을 논하는 장으로 이동할 수 있다.\n상형문자는 말을 옮겨 쓰는 글자가 시각적 볼거리를 제공하는 것이니 표음 문자보다는 훨씬 더 많은 감각 동원을 유발한다.\n단순히 말을 옮겨 적는 것이 아니다. 그리는 것이다.\n이 점은 매우 유의미한 지적이다.\n언어(말)과 문자(글)의 분리라는 점 말이다.\n\n애초부터 언어와 글은 상호 종속적이지 않은 것이다.\n늘 말하지만 한국어와 한글은 엄연히 다르다는 말이다.\n그러나 이러한 단언에 강력한 반박을 하는 학자들 역시 엄연히 많이 있다.\n구조주의 언어학자 소쉬르(Ferdinand de Saussure, 1857∽1913년)에 대한 평가도 그가 언어중심의 철학을 펼쳤지만 문자성을 완전히 버린게 아니라는 지적 역시 있다.\n정리하면 구술성과 문자성은 시대적으로도 소통의 방법으로도 상호 침투하는 것이거늘 이를 역사적 단계로 보는 것은 옳을 수가 없고(출현은 시간적 순서였으나) 어느 하나가 지배적으로 작용한다고 볼 수도 없다.\n\n....to be continued\n\n목차\n1. 정보의 저장고\n가) DNA\n나) 대뇌피질\n다) 문자, 책, 도서관\n2. 뭘 더 알아볼 것인가?
